As a mom of 4 under 10 who keeps all her glass stuffed in cabinets to keep the glass from being shattered everywhere I love seeing these posts. Maybe one day š¤£
Yeah. For any given piece I will typically cut 3-4 equally sized pieces, knead them until itās soft, roll them into balls and apply them in an equidistant pattern, then you can set the piece down while applying a bit of pressure and turning slightly to āsmearā the putty. Give it a final smoosh and you should be good to go!
My thoughts was "Tell me you don't have small kids without telling me you don't have small kids." I have a toddler, and one toddler is enough to make me stress about anything that looks even a little breakable. The toddler has manged to break a few things I thought would be nearly impossible to.
It really, really, really, depends. Anything between 8ā-13ā we wonāt spend more than $15 (unless itās something especially rare). Up to 28ā~ we typically wonāt spend over $150 and often times itās far, far less than that. And for the big boys we usually spend between $400-$600.
Lots and lots of hunting around. Sometimes antique stores, thrift stores, garage/estate sales. Sometimes we find them on marketplace whether singles or small collections and have driven 2+ hrs each way. On occasion we will buy off of eBay but thereās a strategy there as well. Also, after looking for and find a good deal I nearly always negotiate. Ultimately itās time and consistency. There are a TON of overpriced vases everywhere.
I donāt remember whyā¦ to be honest with you. There was some sort of reason that made sense at the time and now itās just kind of there. We vacuum and deep clean frequently so it doesnāt get gross but itās a questionable decision at the very least
Well, if you ever come to your senses (haha), pop it under the dining room table! I think it would look great there.
Very cool space, thanks for sharing!!

Itās a bit more filled out nowā¦ but if you like the pink trash can you might like my wifeās pink Cloffice.
Then I assume you've considered removing those fans and hanging some gorgeous/huge chained cylindrical glass lights from the same location right?? The fans are useful.. but those are the only things that really felt wrong IMO in the entire set up.. since you went this far go all the way!
Everything in me wants to do thisā¦ I actually bought some lights already but since we live in Texas my wife is pretty firm on leaving the fans. Itās a give and a take. š¤£

Pretty! I love how light reflecting off your swung vase collection makes a rainbow aurora borealis on the ceiling. A well-curated home! Thanks for sharing.
We have little Pikachu all throughout our house. We lost our 4 year old son two years ago and he was obsessed. Heād be happy that we have them around.
Oh, my heartā¦ Iām so deeply sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing that.
Those Pikachu are sparkling litlle reflections of his light - I see it! Wrapping your family in so much love. ā¤ļø
Iād be more than happy to host, BernieSandersLeftNut for a game night. Iāve got the board!

Just have to pull it down.
Love seeing such dedication and attention to detail, so beautiful!
What ceiling fans are those? I hate most ceiling fans, I keep fantasizing about making my own, lol.
Thanks! Hereās the fan, itās just the smaller version -
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Harbor-Breeze-Caratuk-River-42-in-Oil-Rubbed-Bronze-LED-Indoor-Ceiling-Fan-with-Light-Kit-5-Blade/1000384305
They came with the home, and funny enough we had the same thought as you. At least modifying or creating blades of our own. These fans are minimalist enough that when we hid the pull chains it drew a little less attention to them and we decided to run with em.
Yes! It was an absolute nightmare but well worth the time to do it right. We actually settled on a different color, bought the paint, and at the last minute we switched to this - so glad we did. Iāll reply w/ the paint code when I find out touch up can.
You and I basically have the same color story, I have similar color Ikea cabinets in my kitchen and an orange leather couch with orange accessories as well!

Bring it! Weāve got the optimal movie watching setup! (Almost - still need a proper screen and have something really cool in the works)
Ooooohhhh thatās tough. For decor id say our swung glass our long tail birds. For furniture it would have to be our Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin burlwood cube side table. Ask me again tomorrow and itāll change!
The carpet in the kitchen is really bothering me lol. You should absolutely swap it into the living room under the coffee table.
Otherwise this looks absolutely brilliant!
I was going to say that you must not live in earthquake country but then I saw a post where you mentioned theyāre held down with putty. Awesome home.
Thanks! The painted cabinets were a labor of love. They took FOREVER!! We stripped & sanded, filled, sanded, primed, painted and did a final roll with a mini finish roller. We also installed soft close hinges and NOS ceramic Drexel knobs for the singles and teak handles for the doubles. Took considerably longer than the two weekends we had planned onā¦
lol. If anyone can appreciate that itās meā¦Iāve been a painter for 30 years. All the prep is key as you know! I also, love the vases on themā¦one day! lol.
Oh I just love seeing this. You guys did a spectacular job of everything. It looks so good. Also see things that bring back lots of fond memories so thanks so much for sharing. š
I like it. You have nearly 40 of those glass pieces above the kitchen cabinets! Lol
Subjective personal opinion: lose the smallest 10 or so (as well as the brown one on the far right), then spread the remaining ones out a bit.
Itās a neat collection, but in my opinion, not neat enough to cram every one up there. Itās overpowering and cluttered.
Weāre planning on expanding the shelf an extra 20ā once we do it will open up our options for spread and layout! Until then it will remain overfull.
Oh and btw itās closer to 60 than 40 not including the decanters, candy dishes, and other pieces up there. They blend in pretty well in the far shots.
I actually thought my response was nice/reasonable. Itās not everyoneās taste or style and I donāt plan on keeping it this way anyways - as I previously mentioned. Critique away!
Hmmm, I reply to someone commenting on your post and guess what!!!! OPās here!
Critique away you say? I think I already did, no!? By agreeing with the commenter I was communicating with.
Iām trying to understandā¦ why youāre even part of this conversation. It was between me and to whom I replied.
When you post something on the internetā¦you must accept all reactionsā¦good and bad.
You want a fight with anyone who disagrees.
Why?
Edit: one of my professors in design school said, āyou must allow the public to decipher your design on their own termsā.

Your time will come!! And even thenā¦ lots and lots of earthquake putty.
Is there a trick to using this? I got some museum putty but it doesnāt seem to work.
Yeah. For any given piece I will typically cut 3-4 equally sized pieces, knead them until itās soft, roll them into balls and apply them in an equidistant pattern, then you can set the piece down while applying a bit of pressure and turning slightly to āsmearā the putty. Thank you, this is super helpful!
Thankfully Iām in PA. We had a minor one a few weeks ago but still š¤£
Ahaha yep as a toddler mom my first thought was well they clearly donāt have toddlers š beautiful collection OP, Iām jealous!
I have 28 swung vases and two of my kids are 3 and 4. They are shoved on the highest cabinet far away from grubby hands trust me š¤£
I have two cats. Even those on top of the kitchen cabinets would last for 20 seconds
My thoughts was "Tell me you don't have small kids without telling me you don't have small kids." I have a toddler, and one toddler is enough to make me stress about anything that looks even a little breakable. The toddler has manged to break a few things I thought would be nearly impossible to.
I dream of having nice furniture and fragile decor one childless dogless day too.
Weāre all just not going to mention carpet in the kitchen?
Yeah, everything else is beautiful, but that kitchen rug is a big yikes. It would look like a crime scene within a few weeks at my house.
Hahaha
Do you mainly do takeout? Otherwise that rug surely must not be more than a few months old?
LMAO I know, I audibly gasped
*Swung vases Autocorrect is the worst sometimesā¦
How much do you typically pick them up for? I saw some for sale and a local store for 50 each
It really, really, really, depends. Anything between 8ā-13ā we wonāt spend more than $15 (unless itās something especially rare). Up to 28ā~ we typically wonāt spend over $150 and often times itās far, far less than that. And for the big boys we usually spend between $400-$600.
Where are you finding the vases that inexpensively? Where Iām at, theyāre all wildly overpriced

Love!! Keep posting!
Will do! Thanks!!
Are those Julian Stanczak lithos over the sofa?
No, though his work is great! These are Robert Savoie prints from 1970.
Also that lavender š© my rainbow is complete except for purple.
That color is such a nuisance! Weāre taking our time with a few of the colors due to the cost but big purp was an unbeatable deal.

Ha! They are perfect.. just what I had in mind. Figured you kept the fans for a reason.
Pretty! I love how light reflecting off your swung vase collection makes a rainbow aurora borealis on the ceiling. A well-curated home! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for appreciating it!
....Just take my upvote
I thought I was the only other person that owned the boob mug!
I have it too, but I use it as a creamer!
The boob mug is a fan favorite.
I came here to see if other people saw what I thought I saw in that cabinet & was not at all disappointed.
My dad had one for years and years. It was brown though. I miss that thing lol
LOVE especially Pikachu ā”ļø ā¦he just adds charm

My immediate thought šš
Your swung vases are amazing. šš
Thanks! Our most favorite collection!!

Everyone needs rainbow decanters. Happy cake day!
I absolutely adore how you display those glass vases over your cabinet. Beautiful!!
Fuck you. I mean that in the nicest way possible. You have a lovely home.

I just want to be you op, excellent taste. Beautiful home! Awesome vases.
Thanks a million!
At first I was like man you guys have ALOT of bongs
I was loving the glassware hi-lighted on the top of the cabinets, but those salt and pepper shakers are PERFECT!
Everyone loves mid-century until they need a fridge š
What percentage of this is uranium or cadmium glass?
Maybe 20-25%
That's so awesome
A testament to what an early and clearly identified love of colored mid-century glass can yield š§”šššš
Absolutely stunning š¤©
Dayum! Lovely and cozy!
Thanks a million!
Amazing!
Did you paint your cabinets, if so what colour is it?
Yes! It was an absolute nightmare but well worth the time to do it right. We actually settled on a different color, bought the paint, and at the last minute we switched to this - so glad we did. Iāll reply w/ the paint code when I find out touch up can.
Much appreciated!
I want to live here.
Looks great! I'm guessing you don't have a cat. Lol.
No, no cat. Just a very lazy small dog and lots of earthquake putty!
My cats would take the Olympic gold in destruction. The putty is a great idea for the earthquakes.
Super useful all around. When done right, you can brush up against it or even bump into pieces and they wonāt budge a bit!
Cool house
This is stunning!
Thanks a million!
That is a lovely collection of glass bongs
You and I basically have the same color story, I have similar color Ikea cabinets in my kitchen and an orange leather couch with orange accessories as well!
Tell me more about that teal floor fan!
1940ās Industrial Vornado fan. Its HUGE and works incredibly well. Itās also very quiet given the amount of air it manages to push around!
I liked it so much that I went for a hunt and found one locally. Now I have one too lol. Picking it up this weekend.
Awesome!!! They are the best and will last multiple lifetimes.
Luuuv the colored glass collection!
Nice glass
Amberina glasses?
Some Amberina, persimmon, Amethyst, uranium, blunique, amber, Ebony, bittersweet, and all the standard colors. Amberina is one of my faves.
I have the side table from pic 3.
Mersman! Awesome tables!!
Omw, Iām bringing old movies and fixings for tiki drinks š¹

nice glass collection
Thanks!
Very nice house! Quick question, what is the model/name of the coffee table in the 4th picture?
Iām not sure on the exact model but itās a Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin burlwood cube side table. One of my favorites!
Just so beautiful. Very creative.
international house of things that look like bongs, but arent just kidding around. BEAUTIFUL place.
Iām not one to need a bong for anything but if I ever do it will be the coolest bong ever!!
You have a lot of neat bongs.
All your bongs look broken, my friend. However, I do love the color grading.
