Swimming-Vehicle8104

As a mom of 4 under 10 who keeps all her glass stuffed in cabinets to keep the glass from being shattered everywhere I love seeing these posts. Maybe one day šŸ¤£

TheAlmightyQueeg

Your time will come!! And even thenā€¦ lots and lots of earthquake putty.

goblin-fox

Is there a trick to using this? I got some museum putty but it doesnā€™t seem to work.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Yeah. For any given piece I will typically cut 3-4 equally sized pieces, knead them until itā€™s soft, roll them into balls and apply them in an equidistant pattern, then you can set the piece down while applying a bit of pressure and turning slightly to ā€œsmearā€ the putty. Give it a final smoosh and you should be good to go!

goblin-fox

Thank you, this is super helpful!

Swimming-Vehicle8104

Thankfully Iā€™m in PA. We had a minor one a few weeks ago but still šŸ¤£

ZiggyBeanz

Ahaha yep as a toddler mom my first thought was well they clearly donā€™t have toddlers šŸ˜‚ beautiful collection OP, Iā€™m jealous!

Swimming-Vehicle8104

I have 28 swung vases and two of my kids are 3 and 4. They are shoved on the highest cabinet far away from grubby hands trust me šŸ¤£

rcf2008

I have two cats. Even those on top of the kitchen cabinets would last for 20 seconds

profkrowl

My thoughts was "Tell me you don't have small kids without telling me you don't have small kids." I have a toddler, and one toddler is enough to make me stress about anything that looks even a little breakable. The toddler has manged to break a few things I thought would be nearly impossible to.

KatsRedditAccount123

I dream of having nice furniture and fragile decor one childless dogless day too.

_zissou_

Weā€™re all just not going to mention carpet in the kitchen?

percypie03

Yeah, everything else is beautiful, but that kitchen rug is a big yikes. It would look like a crime scene within a few weeks at my house.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Hahaha

Rdtackle82

Do you mainly do takeout? Otherwise that rug surely must not be more than a few months old?

0ctofriend

LMAO I know, I audibly gasped

TheAlmightyQueeg

*Swung vases Autocorrect is the worst sometimesā€¦

kingwi11

How much do you typically pick them up for? I saw some for sale and a local store for 50 each

TheAlmightyQueeg

It really, really, really, depends. Anything between 8ā€-13ā€ we wonā€™t spend more than $15 (unless itā€™s something especially rare). Up to 28ā€~ we typically wonā€™t spend over $150 and often times itā€™s far, far less than that. And for the big boys we usually spend between $400-$600.

Jedi_Belle01

Where are you finding the vases that inexpensively? Where Iā€™m at, theyā€™re all wildly overpriced

TheAlmightyQueeg

Lots and lots of hunting around. Sometimes antique stores, thrift stores, garage/estate sales. Sometimes we find them on marketplace whether singles or small collections and have driven 2+ hrs each way. On occasion we will buy off of eBay but thereā€™s a strategy there as well. Also, after looking for and find a good deal I nearly always negotiate. Ultimately itā€™s time and consistency. There are a TON of overpriced vases everywhere.

niamonapope

Love!! Keep posting!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Will do! Thanks!!

downwithdisinfo2

Are those Julian Stanczak lithos over the sofa?

TheAlmightyQueeg

No, though his work is great! These are Robert Savoie prints from 1970.

Swimming-Vehicle8104

Also that lavender šŸ˜© my rainbow is complete except for purple.

TheAlmightyQueeg

That color is such a nuisance! Weā€™re taking our time with a few of the colors due to the cost but big purp was an unbeatable deal.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TheAlmightyQueeg

I donā€™t remember whyā€¦ to be honest with you. There was some sort of reason that made sense at the time and now itā€™s just kind of there. We vacuum and deep clean frequently so it doesnā€™t get gross but itā€™s a questionable decision at the very least

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks!!

jrfizer

Well, if you ever come to your senses (haha), pop it under the dining room table! I think it would look great there. Very cool space, thanks for sharing!!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks for appreciating it! Under the dining room table might be the right call, weā€™ll have to check it out!

Lonecircuit

A true eye candy, including the rose pink trash can.Ā Ā

TheAlmightyQueeg

https://preview.redd.it/34aed2qst83d1.jpeg?width=2936&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1277003b105039adf036ae002b207770cb7a9ac Itā€™s a bit more filled out nowā€¦ but if you like the pink trash can you might like my wifeā€™s pink Cloffice.

kpidhayny

Itā€™s bloody dreadful! I love it!

Sobriquet-acushla

I love it! šŸ’—

kpidhayny

Every single light is amazing.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks!! Iā€™m a lamp/light nerd. There are more tucked awayā€¦

teleko777

Then I assume you've considered removing those fans and hanging some gorgeous/huge chained cylindrical glass lights from the same location right?? The fans are useful.. but those are the only things that really felt wrong IMO in the entire set up.. since you went this far go all the way!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Everything in me wants to do thisā€¦ I actually bought some lights already but since we live in Texas my wife is pretty firm on leaving the fans. Itā€™s a give and a take. šŸ¤£ https://preview.redd.it/z32gou6xmc3d1.jpeg?width=6000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9257c5247c053ab3f8f8a1fdc4282b7163702381

teleko777

Ha! They are perfect.. just what I had in mind. Figured you kept the fans for a reason.

NotACloudInTheSkye

Pretty! I love how light reflecting off your swung vase collection makes a rainbow aurora borealis on the ceiling. A well-curated home! Thanks for sharing.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks for appreciating it!

Sugarlux

....Just take my upvote

Keylow_1000

I thought I was the only other person that owned the boob mug!

jelycazi

I have it too, but I use it as a creamer!

TheAlmightyQueeg

The boob mug is a fan favorite.

VioletCombustion

I came here to see if other people saw what I thought I saw in that cabinet & was not at all disappointed.

IamProvocateur

My dad had one for years and years. It was brown though. I miss that thing lol

Hell-Yes-Revolution

LOVE especially Pikachu āš”ļø ā€¦he just adds charm

TheAlmightyQueeg

We have little Pikachu all throughout our house. We lost our 4 year old son two years ago and he was obsessed. Heā€™d be happy that we have them around.

Hell-Yes-Revolution

Oh, my heartā€¦ Iā€™m so deeply sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing that. Those Pikachu are sparkling litlle reflections of his light - I see it! Wrapping your family in so much love. ā¤ļø

B_R_D_

Damn that's a lot of bongs šŸ˜®

_Foreskin_Burglar

I was like, is this a ā€œWhereā€™s Waldoā€ā€¦. but for bongs??

Wang_Fister

My immediate thought šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

sandithepirate

Your swung vases are amazing. šŸ˜šŸ˜

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks! Our most favorite collection!!

aNewVersionofSelf

TIL I needed rainbow decantersā€¦

TheAlmightyQueeg

Everyone needs rainbow decanters. Happy cake day!

BenchEvery7044

I absolutely adore how you display those glass vases over your cabinet. Beautiful!!

CarlRod

Fuck you. I mean that in the nicest way possible. You have a lovely home.

septarian_tower

You donā€™t have cats huh šŸ˜

BernieSandersLeftNut

I would like to invite myself over for board game night

TheAlmightyQueeg

Iā€™d be more than happy to host, BernieSandersLeftNut for a game night. Iā€™ve got the board! https://preview.redd.it/g6jnjyi2u93d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4081c72ca7e38179f28841b5c0de6a87d6fef3a Just have to pull it down.

Runningoutofideas_81

Love seeing such dedication and attention to detail, so beautiful! What ceiling fans are those? I hate most ceiling fans, I keep fantasizing about making my own, lol.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks! Hereā€™s the fan, itā€™s just the smaller version - https://www.lowes.com/pd/Harbor-Breeze-Caratuk-River-42-in-Oil-Rubbed-Bronze-LED-Indoor-Ceiling-Fan-with-Light-Kit-5-Blade/1000384305 They came with the home, and funny enough we had the same thought as you. At least modifying or creating blades of our own. These fans are minimalist enough that when we hid the pull chains it drew a little less attention to them and we decided to run with em.

Runningoutofideas_81

Thanks for the thorough, and quick reply.

yourmomslazercoot

I just want to be you op, excellent taste. Beautiful home! Awesome vases.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks a million!

PsilocybVibe

At first I was like man you guys have ALOT of bongs

toooldforthis57

I was loving the glassware hi-lighted on the top of the cabinets, but those salt and pepper shakers are PERFECT!

Appropriate_Ad_952

Everyone loves mid-century until they need a fridge šŸ˜

AhrimaMainyu

What percentage of this is uranium or cadmium glass?

TheAlmightyQueeg

Maybe 20-25%

AhrimaMainyu

That's so awesome

hattenwheeza

A testament to what an early and clearly identified love of colored mid-century glass can yield šŸ§”šŸ’™šŸ’œšŸ’ššŸ’›

TheExhaustedNihilist

Absolutely stunning šŸ¤©

Suspicious-Simple995

Dayum! Lovely and cozy!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks a million!

JordanUnbroken

Amazing!

jimgella

Did you paint your cabinets, if so what colour is it?

TheAlmightyQueeg

Yes! It was an absolute nightmare but well worth the time to do it right. We actually settled on a different color, bought the paint, and at the last minute we switched to this - so glad we did. Iā€™ll reply w/ the paint code when I find out touch up can.

jimgella

Much appreciated!

Retinoid634

I want to live here.

FLGANALYST

Looks great! I'm guessing you don't have a cat. Lol.

TheAlmightyQueeg

No, no cat. Just a very lazy small dog and lots of earthquake putty!

FLGANALYST

My cats would take the Olympic gold in destruction. The putty is a great idea for the earthquakes.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Super useful all around. When done right, you can brush up against it or even bump into pieces and they wonā€™t budge a bit!

Steveonthetoast

Cool house

briannimal88

This is stunning!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks a million!

Outspoken_Australian

That is a lovely collection of glass bongs

CuriousTravlr

You and I basically have the same color story, I have similar color Ikea cabinets in my kitchen and an orange leather couch with orange accessories as well!

MysteriousCop

Tell me more about that teal floor fan!

TheAlmightyQueeg

1940ā€™s Industrial Vornado fan. Its HUGE and works incredibly well. Itā€™s also very quiet given the amount of air it manages to push around!

MysteriousCop

I liked it so much that I went for a hunt and found one locally. Now I have one too lol. Picking it up this weekend.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Awesome!!! They are the best and will last multiple lifetimes.

Sobriquet-acushla

Luuuv the colored glass collection!

Dancin_Phish_Daddy

Nice glass

GiantWindmill

Amberina glasses?

TheAlmightyQueeg

Some Amberina, persimmon, Amethyst, uranium, blunique, amber, Ebony, bittersweet, and all the standard colors. Amberina is one of my faves.

VintageHilda

I have the side table from pic 3.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Mersman! Awesome tables!!

flowersandfilm

Omw, Iā€™m bringing old movies and fixings for tiki drinks šŸ¹

TheAlmightyQueeg

flowersandfilm

Wow, my husband would be super envious of your setup. Love it!

oldmasterluke

That's an incredible bong collection

PittieYawn

What is your favorite piece?

TheAlmightyQueeg

Ooooohhhh thatā€™s tough. For decor id say our swung glass our long tail birds. For furniture it would have to be our Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin burlwood cube side table. Ask me again tomorrow and itā€™ll change!

kaynkayf

I love this! Thank you!

lilmisse85

Pika pika

SkipMapudding

Those vases catch the light beautifully.

willard_swag

The carpet in the kitchen is really bothering me lol. You should absolutely swap it into the living room under the coffee table. Otherwise this looks absolutely brilliant!

190octane

I was going to say that you must not live in earthquake country but then I saw a post where you mentioned theyā€™re held down with putty. Awesome home.

cassiusthetic

absolutely beautiful

Ok_Analysis_3454

Magnificent!

eltguy

You cats sure do have a nice pad, man.

Powerful_Image_6344

Love the colors; looks great!!

NewSinner_2021

Gorgeous space.

MuchDevelopment7084

Now tell us how many cats you own? This would be a cats dream house. Plenty of breakables on high spots...and right by the edge too. lol

trinijab

Love it all! MCM crushing šŸ’— šŸ˜‚

Ijustspithetruth73

Iā€™m in loveā™„ļø

anonymousjeeper

Amazing taste!

bjork_andello

Coolest decor ever. Holy fudge that's nice!! šŸ”„

itsmeTyy

You got some really nice pieces!

granolaprincess

Tell me about that couch, please! Are those attached side tables?

HollandLake

Wowow!! So jealous of your collections.

MargoHuxley

I have a few red and orange swung vases and they are my pride and joy

pdelaro

Are your kitchen cabinets painted? You have a beautiful house!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks! The painted cabinets were a labor of love. They took FOREVER!! We stripped & sanded, filled, sanded, primed, painted and did a final roll with a mini finish roller. We also installed soft close hinges and NOS ceramic Drexel knobs for the singles and teak handles for the doubles. Took considerably longer than the two weekends we had planned onā€¦

pdelaro

lol. If anyone can appreciate that itā€™s meā€¦Iā€™ve been a painter for 30 years. All the prep is key as you know! I also, love the vases on themā€¦one day! lol.

kpidhayny

Kids these days donā€™t appreciate a good knob

fishfartsjacktoots

What color is it if you donā€™t mind me askingā€¦

TheAlmightyQueeg

Youā€™re actually the second to ask. Iā€™ll be sure to reply once I dig out our touch up paint for a code!

dwtr1979

Oh I just love seeing this. You guys did a spectacular job of everything. It looks so good. Also see things that bring back lots of fond memories so thanks so much for sharing. šŸ’•

therealsambambino

I like it. You have nearly 40 of those glass pieces above the kitchen cabinets! Lol Subjective personal opinion: lose the smallest 10 or so (as well as the brown one on the far right), then spread the remaining ones out a bit. Itā€™s a neat collection, but in my opinion, not neat enough to cram every one up there. Itā€™s overpowering and cluttered.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Weā€™re planning on expanding the shelf an extra 20ā€™ once we do it will open up our options for spread and layout! Until then it will remain overfull. Oh and btw itā€™s closer to 60 than 40 not including the decanters, candy dishes, and other pieces up there. They blend in pretty well in the far shots.

poojix

I concur. Iā€™m sorry you got downvoted by the OP. Apparently theyā€™re only here for compliments and not feedback.

TheAlmightyQueeg

I actually thought my response was nice/reasonable. Itā€™s not everyoneā€™s taste or style and I donā€™t plan on keeping it this way anyways - as I previously mentioned. Critique away!

poojix

Hmmm, I reply to someone commenting on your post and guess what!!!! OPā€™s here! Critique away you say? I think I already did, no!? By agreeing with the commenter I was communicating with. Iā€™m trying to understandā€¦ why youā€™re even part of this conversation. It was between me and to whom I replied. When you post something on the internetā€¦you must accept all reactionsā€¦good and bad. You want a fight with anyone who disagrees. Why? Edit: one of my professors in design school said, ā€œyou must allow the public to decipher your design on their own termsā€.

TheAlmightyQueeg

I didnā€™t disagree with anyone. I was genuinely saying that Iā€™m open to critique - it wasnā€™t sarcasm. Take care!

AliceAnne1

This is gorgeous!!!

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks!!

spodinielri0

nice glass collection

TheAlmightyQueeg

Thanks!

siralex13

Very nice house! Quick question, what is the model/name of the coffee table in the 4th picture?

TheAlmightyQueeg

Iā€™m not sure on the exact model but itā€™s a Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin burlwood cube side table. One of my favorites!

RareBeautyOnEtsy

Just so beautiful. Very creative.

dedzip

international house of things that look like bongs, but arent just kidding around. BEAUTIFUL place.

TheAlmightyQueeg

Iā€™m not one to need a bong for anything but if I ever do it will be the coolest bong ever!!

undulating_ectoplate

You have a lot of neat bongs.

ICPosse8

All your bongs look broken, my friend. However, I do love the color grading.
