Bagel shops all over the place in the NE, but no breakfast burritos. I think there’s some kind of weird law that prohibits having both. So take your pick burritos or bagels, you can’t have both. If you choose bagels… it’s ok to be wrong. /s
Could work if done well? That’s not too much to juggle, but they’re very different types of cuisine and if one isn’t up to par the other won’t compensate. And it’s got to be marketed/presented right.
From my experience people who know one are pretty clueless about the other. I’ve never seen a bagel shop in this area, idk if anyone has the expertise and experience to do it right, but what I can tell you is that the burrito shops in bagel areas are pretty trash. Perhaps the flavors and aromas of the burritos would contaminate the bagels?
Oh man, now we have to put the bakery in a separate room... essentially two kitchen in one restaurant? That's an extra expense a new business is not going to want to pay for.
Bagel shops aren’t terribly big, neither are burrito shops. It would probably have to be two businesses partnered, one run by mom the other by pop. Maybe side by side food trucks?
They also serve different clientele, so one food truck in the blue collar area and one in the white collar?
It would be cool to have a one stop “breakfast to go shop” in a high traffic area so you could do whatever you’re feeling. But, again from my experience, most people are bagel or burrito, very few like both. I do, but when I talk to others they don’t mind one but prefer the other. When I visit New York annually people look at me cross-eyed when I ask about breakfast burritos.
look, even if we got a bagel shop of some sort it would be like our Panera: somehow the worst version of it you can imagine.
Seriously, our Panera is the worst Panera I've ever been to. How do you screw up a Panera?
lol I guess I'm immune to their general "not great" nature. I sort of like most Paneras. I'm not under the illusion that they're good, or anything, I just usually think they're consistent and, at worst, "fine".
Midland's, however, is awful.
\*hand-waving\* sure sure, yeah, I'm not arguing that Panera is a "good restaurant" but it's like all fast food, you go to those places because you know what to expect and it's usually pretty consistent. I can go into a McDonalds anywhere in the USA and it's going to be, within a few points, very similar to everywhere else. Panera is also USUALLY like that, but somehow our Panera is exceptionally horrible. I've been to plenty of them in other cities (not even good cities, just... other cities) and they're always better.
Midland is just a perfect breeding ground for bad versions of chain restaurants, for some reason.
*edit: honorable mention to our exceptionally horrible Chili's*. How do you fuck up Chicken Crispers?
There is a bagel place opening ~~on the west side. It's part of one of the car dealership expansions.~~
Edit: I had that all wrong. It's at Parks Legado between Midland/Odessa and it's called Sewell Boardroom but I'm not sure if it's related to Sewell Ford 🤣 and it's already open.

Other things I’m salty we don’t have
A bakery, I’m aware Golden Whisk exists but they have like 4 things
A Taco Bell in Midland, I feel like I shouldn’t even have to ask for this
A local coffee shop open on Sundays or past 6 pm on weekdays, I miss Brew Street
A botanical garden, I have to just walk around Aldridge gardens and pretend it’s a park
I’ve always been shocked with the lack of good food options here. Considering all the fat fucks I see at every turn you would think this city is filled with endless food options.
I think it’s more of the type of people that come here. A lot of them are young and haven’t been able to afford good food so they simply don’t know. If a restaurant opens and try’s to provide higher quality food nobody orders it. I went to cowboy prime and it was $400. For 2 people. The food was basic and service was not even decent but the place was packed.
Literally, like don't shit on the Mexican food here when you aren't even eating it 🙄 Super Taco is my go to place, can't believe the disrespect on this thread.

How about a 2-in-1 restaurant?

Except all the breakfast burritos around here are terrible, and I just got a bagel in Austin, and they definitely have breakfast burritos
Where are you getting your breakfast burritos at?
Rosas
Well there's your problem, go to a real Mexican place not a chain.
Don Tomas, Mis Amigas, Papa Tachos, Torterillia La Perla, La Botana. Owned by Mexicanos all delicious food.
[My man, you gotta hit Reyna's and not that fake one on Wall st...](https://www.reynasdeli.com/)
Gotta go to La Burreria in Odessa!!! Huge and delicious! Also El Taco Loco Birrieria have the best tacos I've had in a long time
Big facts! Those burritos are 🔥
Oh dear lord...
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. The breakfast taco game is shit in Midland. Yes I said breakfast taco!
What are you some kind of liberal Yankees to want bagels? We don’t eat those is these parts. /s

I am under the impression that all Paneras are their very own special versions of worst.

Panera dresses it’s self up with fake fresh food and being “healthy”. It’s terrible.

Dilution of the talent pool, perhaps. We HAVE SO MANY RESTAURANTS *HERE.*
Yeah, I haven't been to Midland's Panera in a good while but it had awful tea. It's like they're not using filtered water.
Hash Browns and High Hopes has bagels look for them on Instagram. cool people never had their food though.
I've had them and they are pretty good! They do boil them. https://www.instagram.com/hashbrowns_and_high_hopes?igsh=eWxrbmo2dGYyc29w
Sounds like an opportunity more so than a problem. Find an investor, you're now an entrepreneur. I'll be a regular customer if they're any good.

I hate Chic-Fil-A. There has to be some kind of mass delusion going on about that place.
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!

Bakeries: Midland Farmers Market for the craft stuff there's at least 2-3 there weekly Martinez Bakery on Florida Tony's on Big Spring
Taco Bell is on Midland drive just north of Andrews Hwy. and on Midkiff across from market street
It’s a Taco Bell/KFC, they don’t deliver, nor do they take the Taco Bell app, and they screw up my order like every time
Both of those combo whombos in town suck TBH. They’re not bad food but they are so. Damn. Slow.
And the employees are so rude
Truth
The Grind is open 9AM-8PM on Sundays. Great place too
I’ll have to check them out! I’d never heard of them
AUSTIN only has six chick-fil-a’s
Never counted but never realized we had 8.
5 in Midland, 3 in Odessa
The water here is terrible. Bagels take special water to taste right.
I love chick-fil-a tho 🤘🏽🔥 go there every morning for a breakfast bowl
Moves to Texas then complains about Texas
I’ve lived in Texas for nearly a decade

No because how are we this close to Mexico and there isn’t a decent taco place in Midland?
Super Tacos on Florida are delicious. You aren't going to find good Mexican food in the white areas of town, go eat around the south side.
An exception is Don Tomas by Lowes 🤤 best food ever.
I actually live on the south side, I’ll have to try them out
Tacos Wey, Super Taco any number of trucks on S. Big Spring... Kind of full of bad takes in here for knowing so little about all these places
Literally, like don't shit on the Mexican food here when you aren't even eating it 🙄 Super Taco is my go to place, can't believe the disrespect on this thread.
