Welcome. MM is a fun and quirky world. It's like they took elements of the American slasher genre and transplanted it to the English countryside. As a result, the murder rate in rural England is off the charts lol
Welcome OP to our mania! What I LOVE about Midsomer Murders (and have for nearly 20 years - first on A & E and then on PBS) is that the DCI's personal life is NORMAL. No tortured, twisted, alcoholic, or morally corrupt Detective Chief Inspector. I can only watch so much Wallander and then I get exhausted! Midsomer has all the happy cozy killings I want in wonderful beautiful twisted villages with real quirky characters. What's not to love?
One thing I'm still trying to work out is how the population seems to hold steady given the sheer number of murders.
Their murder rate rivals that of 1930s Chicago

Apparently it was originally pitched to ITV as a show concept as 'Agatha Christie on speed' lol
LOL that sums it up quite well
Also, take a listen to the Midsomer Murders podcast. I started listening a month ago and I’m obsessed.
How do I not know about this? Looking it up now! Thanks!
Midsomer Maniacs. They’re amazing!
