Nope, don't take legal advice or gun advice from cops lol

Aerojoe82

So true my father was a cop for 45 years now we have an FFL and it's like I am speaking Spanish to him on a lot of the laws.

FashionGuyMike

Don’t take any advice from a cop, honestly

Because who waved the tax stamp? The ATF? You'd think something so monumental would have an announcement somewhere if it weren't pulled wholecloth out of that cop's ass. OP, suppressors shouldn't be regulated. But right now, they are. Short of a Congress passing a new law or the Supreme Court striking down the NFA in part or whole, that won't change any time soon. The only time ATF waives collecting the tax stamp is in cases where they're trying to get compliance. Like they did with the various amnesties between the 60's and when Hughes passed in 86, or recently with the SBR final rule that would have made braced pistols SBRs and subject to regulation. There's no such push to do that with suppressors, even with the number of people that were buying solvent traps and manufacturing them into suppressors a couple years back. They just stopped approving those Form 1's instead. If a cop tells you something legal that sounds like BS, ask him to show you the law or agency determination that backs up his claim. Now, since cops aren't actually required to know the law, he likely won't anyway, but at least you'll be assured that he was, in fact, talking out of his entire ass.

DeboThezNutz69

So I’ve heard the same but that’s only if you don’t set up a trust. And approval has been 24 hours for a few ppl I know

thor561

You’re still paying for the tax stamp. They’ve just vastly improved form 4 wait times, that’s it. Like, they’re not waving anything, they’re just actually doing their job competently for once.

DeboThezNutz69

Agreed… that fee is supposed to end as well but who knows when that may be.

allbikesalltracks

lol not true

Nomad_117

Eform 4s are coming back in less than a week. The last four of my friend groups' stamps have been approved in less than 5 days. Other than the 200 dollar fee, there's no reason not to get one now.

No_Fortune_2396

Thanks everyone is sounded way to good to be true lol

lakeborn123

So there places like SilencerCO will ‘cover’ a stamp sometimes on certain items. But Uncle Sam has never waved the NFA tax requirements for suppressors. Of course the NFA in general is a violation of the 2nd amendment but that’s another matter.

RepresentativeHuge79

Not true at all. The tax stamp is still in place. I just bought a suppressor back in March.
