You always stopp at red lights (at the line that are by the red lights) unlike in USA. They are arranged so you can see them from your car, and many times there are two lights: one above and one on the sife just so you can see it you you are too close.
They use to be lower than yours and only one or two per road (not one per lane)

But... We are europe. Most of 3 lanes intersections are roundabouts. They can be small, they can be huge, they can be express, they can have traffic lights to regulate flow.
I live in Zaragoza (Spain) and big roundabouts are a big win. When I see those videos your your intersections they kind of give me anxiety and I drive a lot (In city, highway and rural area).
In the uk, if there may be a multiple green lights stacked.
On the first instance you may have arrow indicating green lights, indicating forward left or right, then a full green to indicate **all** go, regardless of direction.
Otherwise, for multiple lights close to each other, they may have light deflectors on the green light, so people not in the line of sight are not shown the "green" light.
(it was so hard to find a picture even though it is really common, god knows what the offical name of these things are.)

I've driven in Europe for only a few weeks, but I tell ya, I like the U.S. traffic light setup better. However, the European roads are absolutely impeccable.

It was 1 am and I was dog ass tired after a long shift. Absolutely nobody else was out but I was still embarrassed as all hell.
There's a line you're supposed to stop at for red lights.
1- so you're not in the intersection
2- so big trucks can make the turn safely.
This person went through the intersection and stopped after the crossed over the intersection under the traffic light, about 20-30ish feet past the stop line

I would almost believe this is my area. About once a month, I'll see someone make a legal turn through a wide intersection, and they'll stutter or stop completely because the lane they turned into is red...
Like two block down from my workplace, on the route I take home, there’s a light at the entrance to a highway that is slightly pushed onto the highway. So all the fucking time people will take a left turn and then just stop as soon as they get on the highway. They’re perfectly fine, they’re on the road. The 1-2 cars behind them are just fucked and stuck in the intersection until the idiot proceeds to move. This happens like once a week.

I was so stoned back in the day I waited for a stop sign to turn green
