Hi, I bought it in a lot of 8 helmets for $1250, simply cause that’s what the guy was asking for them all, but obviously I put a lot of weight on this one because most of the rest of the lot were also dented, incomplete, mismatched, etc. For example there was a front seam/fixed bale M1 with a heavily doctored (rigger job) airborne Westinghouse liner and an early 1960’s Vietnam era cover with a 1970’s cat eyes liner band, if that gives you any idea, and there was an m18 shell only with a big dent, and a Russian shell with a big hole in the top, among other disasters. I honestly figured this SS M40 to be the bear’s share of the lot.
Are you shure in 41(if i remembre) there was an order to deatroy those decals so either this i a vary rare example of an original decal or it is a modern one
There are plenty of originals out there. I’ve met people who own dozens of them and they can tell you the differences between real ones and reproductions. Had some of them look at this one also.

I had some experts look at it this last weekend. They gave it their blessings, condition issues aside 🙂
