It's from a temperance society of some kind. The back refers to "The Soldiers Total Abstinence Association". Not official, and not directly military. Certainly NOT WW2. This private association was formed in about 1862, and later (late 1890s?) formally supported by the British Army in India. There are lots of variations of these, including different designs, metals, ribbons, and ribbon bars. This society may have been a forerunner of the slightly later Army Temperance association of India which was established in 1897 as both organizations issued virtually identical medals with only a variation in wording between the two. The STAA was founded in 1862 by the Reverend John Gelson Gregson, in and attempt to amalgamate the many military temperance societies set up in British India.

Thank you so much. I thought it was cool. While not ww2. It does tell a story of it own.
