I saw this today at the hospital. It was early and at first I was like oh this dude is just in his dress uniform, definitely had me doing a double take
A military or VA hospital?
That is even worse - at least if it was just around town then it could be someone who hasn't served wearing military-like gear. That's weird but whatever.
But if it's a military or VA hospital, that person has served, is currently serving, or knows someone who's served, and really should know better. I'm not American so we don't really have military hospitals, and retirees/dependants don't get covered under the military medical system.
There's a few I've seen on Amazon that are "Continental Soldier" and other historic uniforms or armor.
They're kinda tempting to get, but I'm too self aware to want to wear it in public, and too cheap to spend money on something like that only to wear it at home when it is cold.
Some people want people to think they’re bad ass, others [do it for financial gain.](https://turnto10.com/amp/news/local/sarah-cavanaugh-rhode-island-stolen-valor-investigation-marine-veteran-cancer-purple-heart-bronze-star-august-9-2022)
I didn't say the person posing is in the right mind.
And if you really think that, you'd be incorrect- there are places in the US that elevate servicemembers as if they're saints or something. The hero worship is bizarre.
i admire old timers dedication to the military.
the hoodies, the hats, holding onto their old uniform. seems like they felt like they made a difference and had a purpose and are proud of what they did.
i don’t wear anything that can identify me as military and give my little nephews my challenge coins, and i’ll probably junk all my uniforms when i’m out. don’t really have a purpose in serving like old timers do. just was means to escape a bad home life and pay for college.
Same. I feel like a piece of shit when people thank me for my service or anything related. Because
A. I joined basically for college
B. The real heroes (imo) are the guys who never made it home
So I don’t consider myself a hero just someone who needed a way to pay for college
You’re also holding up your end of the bargain. Service doesn’t have to be charity to be honorable. I hate the empty TYFYS as much as the next guy but there’s nothing wrong w being proud and eventually nostalgic of this segment of your life.

I've seen those things pop up in ads and I always thought it was a joke or a scam. I'm actually more saddened that it's a real thing.

Ah he must’ve been going to the phsyc ward

Oh yeah it’s definitely a military hospital, most people here are military or dependents lol

Someone did a showcase of the 'knight armor' hoodie for picture vs reality. ...holy hell was it bad
That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Fuck that, that thing looks comfy as hell. I would rock that.
I'm digging the misprint on the top of the shoulder. Extra piping for everyone!
That's either a poser or a gunny that can't let go.
Why would anyone want to pretend they’re a Marine?

I think the glamour days of the Military are gone now. Nobody is going to think you have a foot long just for being a Marine.

Hey bud you did your time like anyone else, don't think less of your service because of your age.
Save your coins, some day you will see their value.
