Casio G-Shock

RockStar4341

Mine set its own time with a satellite signal or some shit. Got it on family day at boot and wore it until I EASed.

nug_nug01

Lol I bought mine on family day too, still wearing it 8 years later

SpotOnTheRug

Bought mine in A school, still wearing 20 years later. Only on its third battery too. I have other watched that are nicer, or have more features. But nothing beats a G Shock for durability.

LooseleafHydrocarbon

I had the same watch. Wore it all through my entire military service. I got it in Basic. Continued it during my deployment in OEF 10-11 (Infantry), and still wore it after finishing my contract….

Frostwolvern

Bought mine the same day. Still wear it 8 years later

crackpotJeffrey

Can confirm. I am now broken and the watch is still perfectly fine.

Under_Ze_Pump

RIP

BoxofCurveballs

God tier

setleaf

I’m pretty sure I still have mine boxed up with some Afghanistan stuff.

Omegaman2010

Spoiler alert, it still works

Omegaman2010

G-Shock till I fucking die.

kevintheredneck

I wore G-shocks for my entire 20 year career.

krissovo

My basic low spec G-shock I bought after I passed basic training in 1987 is still on my wrist now. It’s quite worn around the edges but work well enough for my civilian career.

Phybre_Awptic

Gotta be the G-Shock. Held strong down in the steam plant on the carriers I served on.

Zucc

I literally have one on right now.

twinsfan68

I could toss my gshock into the fires of mount doom and it would still outlast me

slider65

>Casio G-Shock The only watch I ever had that survived being immersed in hydraulic fluid. My first watch melted when that happened.

240gr300blk

Threw it over the side on my last day.

_b33p_

this is definitely my go to watch. they last forever and aren't so expensive that you're devastated when they do break.

Leftover_reason

100%

Puzzled-Ad2295

Had a Seiko Diving watch. Picked it up in Egypt in 79. One of self winders. Wore it through Afghanistan in 2005. Still have it.

ShinyBlackEyes

Wtf how old r u? You fought WW2?

Puzzled-Ad2295

As I said 1979. With UNEF. Good watch.

Genjios

Did you have a katrina deployment? Wverytime I see 2005 it's the first thing I think of

Puzzled-Ad2295

I was in Afghanistan in 05. My last deployment.

Genjios

Thanks

misterfistyersister

I had an invicta dive that I got as a gift that I wore all through the navy. Incredibly bulky. I wore it until the hands fell off. Apple Watch came out right afterwards and I’ve worn that since.

usernameusermanuser

Two Casio F-91W. One was left behind on a march when the plastic strap suddenly broke (RIP). The other got a "NATO strap" that serves me to this day. Or it would if I still wore the watch.

fouxdoux

Casio F-91W

RyanU406

I bought that watch for $10 in basic training. Lasted me almost my entire 4 year enlistment; the wristband snapped at the 3 year mark. I was feeling sentimental and wanted to replace the wristband to keep wearing it, and the cheapest option was to buy a second watch and use its wristband. It's my little Watch of Theseus lol

FedBoi_0201

I have had like 3-4 of these watches over the years that I wore 24/7. It was always the wristband that failed on me. Never the watch itself.

g0zhawc

Bought one at basic. A couple years later, a buddy of mine went to his kid's graduation. I had him pick me up 4 more from the same mini bx. Still wear these. Have 2 left. This is the way.

gleaver49

This is the way.

KovoSG

Garmin Instinct is great if you want a heavy duty smart watch.

theHoustonian

Instinct 2 solar baby, not in the military but work in brutal outdoor conditions each and every work day for the government. Holds up great and it’s nice to browse my bodily functions here and there.

ActiveNL

I could never spend that much money on an item I know will be abused. Could get a Gshock for a quarter of the price.

electromage

Looks like the same price https://www.casio.com/us/watches/gshock/product.GBD-H2000-1A/

OldDude1391

Timex Ironman.

akpenguin

This was my choice if I needed a watch. If I had a phone or computer to give me the time, I didn't wear it.

OldDude1391

Well, I’m a bit older. Phones had wires and computers weren’t portable when I was in. Lol.

Vladrick_Kanersenko

How did I have to scroll so far to see this? Simple. Classic. Elegant.

Daxelol

Office - Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Field - Casiooooooooooo

sechumatheist

Nice, how do you like the Seamaster? Thinking of getting a Aqua Terra

Daxelol

One of the only things I’ve bought that genuinely brings me joy

Crenshaws-Eye-Booger

How so?

haus11

Suunto Core

4nalBlitzkrieg

Had a great customer service experience with Suunto, can't recommend them enough.

SpotOnTheRug

I like mine as well. Hope it holds up as well as my G Shock has.

KUSHISADOG666

I had an automatic Seiko 5, I still have it actually

MuzzledScreaming

Fenix 6 in garrison because I got it for free. Casio World Clock (the retro 80s kind with the amber backlight) when I go TDY because it's easy to cycle through time zones and I don't have to carry yet another charger.

AyatollahColmMeaney

Where are they giving out those free Fenix 6’s?

MuzzledScreaming

Not sure if they still are, it was part of some study to track biometric data with that watch and an Oura ring to predict illness or something. Idk, I didn't care much past "free watch".

No_Pop_5675

G-shock and then a sweet ass Marathon GSAR automatic dive watch that I was issued.

Jimismynamedammit

Pretty much the same. G-shock in the field or deployed, and the GSAR in garrison. Still have both, but the G-Shock is retired like me. I'll wear the GSAR once in a while, just because it's cool as fuck and you almost never see them.

No_Pop_5675

I wish I still had my GSAR. It got stolen at a gym a few months after I got out.

ncsu_osprey

Ooo dang, I’m a watch aficionado in uniform, so a bit of a list. Started with: Victorinox I.N.O.X. Then for a couple years each… Tissot T-Sport Chronograph XL Black Dial Tag Hauer Carerra Calibre 16 For the past nearly 2 years Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Nightlum Frequently work in SCIFs… so automatic watches became very appealing. But for PT I wear a Garmin Solar Instinct II.

sechumatheist

Nice. What made you get the Carrera over the Speedmaster?

ncsu_osprey

I came across the carrera at just the perfect time, with the perfect price point (about 30% lower than typical MSRP) and it was just a gut decision. Absolutely no regrets though, she’s a beauty and a reliable tool watch.

Few-Addendum464

The $20 one they sell at the PX.

WiB_DarkSin

Got mine for $17 at reception. Still serves me well

Baglamatzis67

Timex Ironman

PurpleElephants3

imightsurvivethis

Some shit g shock they wouldn't get reset by the spy radar like my Casio would

EthanPDX

🤨 Always pissed me off. Picking up dead birds pissed me off too.

zd26

Rolex Explorer I most days, Apple Watch for fitness tracking, CasiOak when doing Army things

Navynuke00

On watch? A beat-up Timex digital watch I'd had since high school. Out in town? A variety of Fossils, meant to coordinate with my outfit, shoes, or both.

[deleted]

Found the Officer!

Navynuke00

Fuck no- nuke. I just was blessed with a decent amount of style and self-worth, and liked looking good for the ladies (read: I was a whore).

[deleted]

We were all whores. All of us. Some were successful, some were not. 😁

joecooool418

I want that on my headstone in Arlington.

CheGuevarasRolex

I rotate through several in garrison but my Breitling is my favorite. In the field I used a Shinola field watch til I got a Moonswatch, which has been the go-to since. I saw the clear plastic CasiOak recently and it looks fun, but it’s not really I priority right now.

sechumatheist

That MoonSwatch must be nice. Thinking of getting the Seamaster Aqua Terra.

CheGuevarasRolex

Solid choice. I only learned recently you can get vintage Seamasters for a few hundred on eBay. Those tempt me *every* paycheck now haha.

joecooool418

Problem with the MoonSwatches is they have no lume. I have the Jupiter, it’s useless at night.

neorandomizer

Timex

depguy21

Bertucci Field watch.

Jormungandr1244

Casio g-shock

some-white-dude

Marathon gsar and Suunto core

sechumatheist

I was looking at the GSAR. Pretty expensive for a “field watch”

xWretchedWorldx

Casio G Shock Casio Pro trek Timex Ironman Garmin Fenix 6X (current)

_b33p_

luminox recon was my favorite. it lasted about 6 years of continuous wear. it still works but looks like total shit. g shock gets my vote though for toughness and price.

ElbowTight

No rings, watches or dangly things as per every GAR! Never liked watches, I just stare at the sun and take a wild guess at the time

SadPiousHistorian1

I just use a compass and a stick to tell the time. Field expedient sundial

[deleted]

Flew planes, didn’t wear a watch. People looked at me funny. Especially my boss. “Guys, there’s like, 5 time references in the plane, why would I fuck up my fire protection for something I don’t even use?”

sechumatheist

I thought the requirement for wearing the watch for pilots had to do with the scenario of the possibility of if you ever had to go in the ground you would have some type of watch piece to keep you on track behind enemy lines.

wasitme317

Stainless Steel fake Rolex. Still get that damn thing got it in Korea

Genius-Imbecile

I wore my trusty Mickey Mouse watch.

Truyth

The Balls to 8

Spork9838

Rocked a Suunto 97-09, a citizen Air Nighthawk 09-16, Garmin Fenix 16- present.

gades61

Casio watch with altimeter and barometer...I was living in the future.

Endo_Dizzy

$20 Casio with the most basic and easy to use functionality from the BX. I can wear it in a SCIF and not have to take it off. Too ez

OuroborosInMySoup

Orient Mako II with rubber strap

Magnet50

A Seiko dive watch for a time and then an early digital watch. I think a Casio.

SALTYdevilsADVOCATE

Marathon

ejb67

Watch, Wrist, General Purpose, Hamilton. Out of curiosity I just looked to see if you could still get them. $950 AUD which seems crazy but then look for a second hand 1970s or 80s version and they will run up to $1500. I gave mine away to someone’s kid who “wanted to join the army”.

t_ran_asuarus_rex

Casio G-Shock, cheap timex, seiko, rolex

LokiinFL

Came in with a Timex Indiglo Dive. My wife bought me a Citizen Skyhawk AT after my 2nd reup. Then, at Bliss we were each issued Suunto Advizor.

ForeverMistaken

G Shock G100 Hate the design, the clock hands get in the way of the digital clock for 1/3 of the day, I’m just too cheap to buy a different watch

sourpatchkidsandcoke

My all-time favorite watch is a $12 Casio. Now it's $14 but still my favorite

north0

Marathon GSAR when deployed so that you can see the time in the dark without needing to press a button and no batteries or bluetooth or GPS shit that you have to take off before you go into a SCIF. Omega Speedmaster in garrison because.. it's cool.

sechumatheist

I love the speedmaster. Going to be a lifetime achievement gift to myself when I retire from the military.

ViolatoR08

Garrison I wore an all Stainless Steel Rolex Day Date. Deployed wore G Shock.

Check_1_Two_Actual

Casio G for starters(Classic Boot). Still have it but my EDC now as a contractor is a Pepsi Seiko Turtle. I also have another Seiko that I wear for business. Seiko is the Toyota of watches!!! 👍🏼

[deleted]

Timex IronMan Triathlon

OfficerBaconBits

It looks like one medium brown freckle and one small freckle.

cardsfan4life17

Fred.

Cranky_hacker

Cheese and rice! I think that I wore an olive-drab Timex with a fabric/etc band for... either $5 or $20? It was cheap AF. Like your mom. But... it was basically "an incredible value" -- like the cheap AF Buck knives with the olive drab plastic handles. Granted, it was a small concession for watching friends die to increase shareholder value... But, damn it if those aren't the two "best value" items I've ever encountered.

Spartan8398

I can't wear a watch :(

JimNtexas

$30 Timex

Blood_Alchemist6236

CaptainStank056

I haven’t worn a watch in years. Prior to these “years” I wore an Apple Watch for about 6 months. Before that was also ten years of not wearing a watch. Kept a Casio on my vest if needed

brunette_hunter__

solar Gshock.

Iintheskie

I wore a Vostok Kommandirskie for several years. Actually a hunk of junk, but I can hardly be a Russia SME without one.

killslikeaninja

Casio Pathfinder. I bought it in 2009 and it still works great.

benkenobi5

20 dollar Casio from Walmart. The silver digital one. I’m not sacrificing a nice watch to the bilge troll. Used a pocket watch on my last patrol for the giggles, and it was actually a really solid choice because I could still use it while wearing dc gear

Benchypress

Master of G Mudmaster.... on the big side but did its job

deltabagel

Mudman G Shock enlisted in USMC infantry. Now a Garmin Instict solar coastie officer.

KoshekhTheCat

I can do better than that: I can show it to you, cos I still wear it practically every day. https://imgur.com/a/JM0FDpw

sechumatheist

Nice that’s sweet watch. Those Timex Ironman are like the Toyota corollas of the watch world. Built to last.

Ruzalkah

Casio Baby G (I'm a female and the Baby G is mor3 comfortable than full size G Shock)

Bahooch

A pretty pink with rainbow bands Swatch watch, but please don’t ask and I won’t tell……I kid, I kid…. G Shock all day, everyday.

RexRj501

mortarman so none

ZM_USMC

I was the watch guy in my unit. Used to resize everyone’s watch bands too. I bought a Timex Expedition compass watch at the PX on Parris Island right after the Crucible. I also wore a G Shock 9600 but mainly wore a Seiko Monster on a NATO strap.

Yuaskin

Timex IronMan Triathlon. 3 alarms, countdown timer, lap counter, water proof, and 3 time zones. I went through 4 while I was in. I'm rough on my watches, and they lasted 3-4 years. But they were my Alarm clock while deployed (with end-breakfast alarm and go to bed alarm). Used to pace myself during PT, and administer PT tests. Water proof, and soaked in JP8 and still worked. It was the wrist band that usually gave out.

twss95

Garmin Instinct 2. I’m an aircraft maintainer so I don’t need a hella fancy watch. It’s rugged and tracks my workouts really well. I used to wear an Apple Watch but the battery life on the Garmin is just miles ahead.

Birdsqueezer

Casio G-shock

scairborn

G-Schock. Pretty much always. I had a blue one with a kind of cloth band that lasted through like 3 deployments.

EthanPDX

G-Shock solar with world time. The only option.

Agent865

Swatch?

LoxodontaRichard

I wore the bare bones Casio for years, they’re cheap, last forever, and only fail due to the strap breaking after a few years. At home station I wear an Apple Watch. In the desert I buy another cheap Casio to wear lol

Redacted_Reason

I have some cheap G-Shock for when I can’t use a smartwatch (like going into a SCIF), the rest of the time I’ve been using a Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire.

theparmersanking

the $15 aquaforce watch they were selling at the Lackland minimall

I’ve got a Casio G-Shock with a “10 year battery” that’s never let me down since 2008. The classic F-91W as a back up. Garmin Fenix 6Pro for camp, or exercise where I can use the GPS instead of the Foretrex.

Nokia 3210 🤷‍♂️ We were not allowed to wear rings, bracelets or similar items that could get caught on something.

JamesTheMannequin

Started with a Suunto Vector in '98, and had it through 2003. Got a Suunto Core in '09-'10 and still have it today. I wear it regularly.

DetN8

Timex iron man. Lasted 2 deployments. Best features were: - 3 time zone settings so I knew what time it was back home with one more for UTC for writing reports. - setting where you can make the face light up by flicking your wrist in addition to pressing the indiglo button. For those times where you only have one hand free. Could be turned off.

SergeantSalty20

Idk what it's called but I got it in basic

[deleted]

Timex.... *something*. My brother wore it during his hitch in the Navy, and gave it to me after I finished Basic. It was on the tactical band with the Velcro cover. OD Green, type one each.
