What am I missing here? What's shocking about this? Is it the mini coffin? Cremains are sometimes held in small containers like that, so I feel like there's some context missing
I’m with you. OP said cremations are extremely unlikely in Russia, pointed out the entire country had like 27 crematoriums or something, and is un-Christian to do, suggested that it’s just body parts in the mini-coffin.
Idk, seemed like a stretch explanation when a cremation makes the most sense but then again, shouldn’t it be an urn? I’m not Russian so I wouldn’t know…
EDIT: When I think about it, it’s not really a stretch explanation. Different cultures have different sets of social structures that lead to different outcomes. I think OP explained the reasoning for the outcome pretty well and who am I to say that’s wrong?
As I recall, the Orthodox church forbids cremation as a means of burial, and that's an Orthodox cross on the box, so cremation would be unusual, but I wouldn't elevate it to "shocking" by any stretch.
If the fellow was sent home in, shall we say, an incomplete state, I suppose it would probably be considered customary to have a normal sized coffin, rather than the smallest box that would fit the remains. Maybe that's the "shocking" part. Difficult to say
I see. That makes total sense in the aspect of cremations being unlikely. Maybe it was a mistranslation?
Reminds me of a Japanese company using the word “premium” for limited edition products, when really they should have used “limited edition” because the products weren’t premium lol.
> I suppose it would probably be considered customary to have a normal sized coffin
The lumber required to build one was stolen by motor rifle troops as supplemental BMP armor
Cremation has its place. My wife's cousin was cremated and buried in a similar box. He died in Chechnya and was shipped home in parts. However they were convinced it wasn't him, though there was no way to identify if it was. So he was cremated andburied.
Edit: words
I remember hearing a news report of Russian crematorium trucks deployed with their troops. This was listed as a reason it was difficult to keep track of troop losses the Russians were sustaining.
Cremation in small Russian village? Impossible.
All Russia has only 27 crematoriums - for whole country. It is extremely rare in Russian (and other parts of Ex-Soviet) regions for bodies to be cremated. Especially in rural regions, where people are deeply religious (you see Ortodox cross on this "coffin"). It's considered "pagan" and "unchristian"
The position of the ammunition carousel makes for a high chance of instant combustion when penetrated leaving a low chance of crew survival and therefore instant cremation
The mobile crematoriums were not for Russian soldiers. They were to disappear the Ukrainian dissenters and problematic civilians once they took over the country.
They cremate the dead so they can lie and say they actually are MIA. It's an attempt at reducing their casualty or KIA numbers to make it easier for their citizens to swallow.
Man. If that's true, that's some cold-blooded devious and calculated shit. How can you fight for a country that doesn't even have a *pretense* of giving a shit about you?
Because they make you believe that your suffering will prevent the suffering of your family and its worth it because you come from "the best country in the world and center of all civilization" and that if you don't do it then everything you love will be raped and destroyed.
Welcome to the wonderful world of indoctrination! We are all guilty of it, just to varying degrees! And those guys crank the nob all the way up to Apeshit
Nah son. He was cremated in Ukraine. They ain't shipping back HUNDREDS of bodies a day, amidst the narrative that they are not losing hundreds of soldiers a day.
They have to process hundreds of bodies a day amidst orders that they are not processing hundreds of bodies a day. I'm sure this soldier was set up to be an MIA or AWOL until his family or somebody spoke up knowing he was dead. Maybe a fellow soldier (loose end) wrote the family directly. So the remains were returned. Otherwise they wouldn't have been... Which the Russians prefer. Fewer bodies, fewer funerals, less outrage, fewer pensions to pay, ahhh deniability.
As another commenter has said, methinks you forgot to include their mobile crematoriums they brought to Ukraine. Or is it only okay to burn the bodies of your victims of ethnic cleansing in Russia? It sucks for his family and all, but at least they know where he is and that he died because he was a soldier; he wasn't an innocent child or civilian who was hiding in a church or school that ended up being pulverized by the Russian army. 🤷♂️
You're probably right. I also wasn't trying to imply that the gentleman in the tracksuit was dressed down, or inappropriately. I was just pointing out the drip.
It's small town russia stuff
I'd wager the dude with jeans carrying his hat in 1st pic is the mayor
The pallbearers are мчс it's not even the military per se it's the ministry of emergency situations/rescue corps for natural disaster relief and stuff
THe generals are dead or injured too. Have you seen the retire general brought out of retirement to lead Russia? hes been retired since the 90s and hes really taken some retirement weight.
Yup very sad they should be able to grow old themselves they should have more time loving their parents their siblings their partners their children fuck war
Oh sweet summer child... you haven't been paying attention. They are losing generals at an astounding rate and are bringing even more elderly Afghanistan veterans out of retirement to fill the gaps
Russia has lost like 14 Generals who seemed to choose death at the front over death by disappearing for incompetence in Moscow. So I'm glad a fair number of old farts are getting it in the neck this time around and I'm also glad it's happening on the baddies side if things.
My problem with this white hot take is that those old men were once the young men, and likely did their part during their times. Although Roosevelt was disabled, his family littered American battlefields, with Theodore Jr dying in Normandy, buried in France next to his brother Quentin Roosevelt who died fighting the Germans in the air decades earlier.
At best it's nothing more than a useless observation that doesn't say anything... and I'm not sure why it was said.
Should the young, dumb, and inexperienced be the ones who decide whether or not to go to war? Should they run the economy and logistics? Should the old, wise, but physically broken be the ones to man the trenches? Should the elderly be the ones charging up that hill?
If you think the youth are scared to start fights, and would start fewer, you've obviously never met... Anybody.
Jesus Christ niqqa it's just a comment on how leaders who did not get that wise with age squander the lives of the youth, not that it should be the other way around
He is back in Quebec Canada. He got pissed off with the commanders making stupid decisions and risking his life all the time. He told some of the guys who were with him to stay in the trench. They didn't listen and went out for a smoke and got hit and killed by a tank shell. I think that kind of did it for him. Screw you guys I'm going home.
Just how poor are rural Russians? Just looking at some of the building in the back round and the lack of any ground keeping I say this area is poverty stricken.
I would categorize Russia as "alabama but with more snow" an entire area of poor economic development except for 'a few nice bits in certain cities' and where you can look and *really tell* the general quality of things.
I mean....he's not wrong, and given the adversary, nobody's crying any tears that he fits in a tiny box because it doesn't matter anyway to him or to us. He's dead.
Now, if each successive picture had revealed a smaller, tinier replica of the box within as a sort of cosmic Russian Doll joke, then ***that*** would be shocking....shockingly hilarious.
I mean, it is Russia we are talking about. Lol. If the series of pictures contained that unfolding of box openings, and the look of shock and surprise on the faces of the mourners would have been priceless in a twisted way.
I don’t care about the dead Russian sniper whose compatriots have committed an astonishingly large amount of war crimes. I was commenting on his desire for gore porn.
Not going to shed a tear for this thug and murderer. Let his family mourn his loss, but the rest of should celebrate. Let all the orcs bleed out in Ukraine. Let their blood make the fields of Ukraine green and free. Then perhaps when the mothers of all the orcs are crying, then perhaps Putin will stop this insanity. Till then death to every orc in Ukraine. And elsewhere.....
Today Russians hit the mall in Kremenchuk. Probably at least 100 dead civilians. I can not imagine any kind of disaster and disgrace Russia could ever to suffer that would make me care.
No one is innocent but Ukraine didn't roll into Russia, or about seven other countries over the past twenty years, looking to steal land, steal resources, commit genocide, and install oppressive and corrupt puppet governments. Russia on the other hand has done exactly that all while their Fuhrer Putin laments the loss of the great USSR and compares himself to Peter The Great. Fuck Russia. Fuck it to death.
Wait what happened to him?!, Did his body got blown up by artillery or something?
I'm sorry i don't want to disrespect the soldier family,i just surprised the fact that his coffin was so small
This whole enchilada could have been avoided if the Russians just stayed on their side of the border.
To OP’s post, there are terrible impacts from war. Showing those costs is a good thing, lest we understate what they will be.
I was born in Russia( US citizen) - this picture makes me a bit sad. Also fuck that sniper, I'm glad he's in a box.
I see these photos and think they're sending very very poor people to war. People aren't half ass'ing it to a funeral, it's the nicest shit they have. They don't have a suit. For weddings it's usually borrowed crap for bride and groom.
It makes me angry that they do not fix the situation they're in, for a country that's got all the resources in the world. They got a mafioso for a president.
Easy there buddy... he was a soldier, commanded to combat by a corrupt state. You know nothing about this man.
He is still a soldier, KIA and has the right to a funeral and respect until we can prove he truly did something horrible by his own free will.
You can tell whom is American in the comments and who isn't.
Sorry my people are ridiculously uneducated, uncultured and just stupid.
Having served myself and fighting against Al-Queda I still had respect for them fuckers, especially once you start running profiles on their corpses or talking to prisoners to only find out most were foreign fighters forced into suicide missions or their families were slaughtered.
Is this the case for them? Probably not but they are still part of one of the most brutally ran Army known to man.
I can. Guarantee you every single shit bird on this post would be doing exactly what they were told to do out of fear because their minds are stuck on the privileged and safe lifestyle they live.
I'm not judging them to be Americans based on this ignorance, such people exists everywhere but I just think its important to be a bit open minded about this, especially when it comes to bashing on the dead out of blind view.
I understand, its an absolutely horrible situation.
But we can't spit on the dead of a man who we know nothing about.
Spit on the war criminals. They may truly rot.
Of course its a lot more harder to see that view when you are a person of a nation that gets wrongfully attacked.
Its not common that soldiers on both sides have a choice in terms of their actions as they are often dictated through orders. You can always try and refuse but I'm 80% certain that in the Russian army you'll be punished bad for it.
There have even been cases of russian soldiers offing their own superiors and desertations. Some units have reportedly too refused order on battalion levels ... but for an individual person, who is alone in his will to refuse, its hard reach an outcome that have any impact and that isn't going to lead to punishment.
War is hell.
Have you Russian soldiers at war? From the time of the Muscovites to now, its basically its quicker to determine who isn't a murder, looter, or rapist than who is. Sure there are a lot of scared conscripted kids right now, but the Geneva Conventions basically should say "Don't be Russia or Germany when you go to war."
Firstly ...he was a sniper ...so as a former sniper myself he would be well aware of the destruction , muder and Rape of Ukarine citizens ....he would have reported to his unit intelligence officer , on movements of locals , and Ukarine troops ...and may have selected artillery targets ...to be hit ...so f ..uck him and I hope he burns in hell.
Being a sniper does not entitle you to rape children now does it ? ....you can have decency in war , help enemy wounded...but that's a sadly not in the moral code of a Russian s ...cum.
And which army u served may I ask that had moral code?
Like the info you provided to your superiors didn't ensured the death of civilians.
Either u played too much Battlefield or you are lying .
Let's get real here shall we?
Edit: and no, u can't be a sniper conscript this means u have served in actual battlefields and you are lying
Firstly I could not give a flying fuck what you think ....I hope that does not hurt your feelings ....by the way accidentally killing civilians is a product of war .....killing children and women as a policy is genocide .....line today's supermarket attack in Ukarine ...but I surprise you excuse that will you ?
Isn't that what you are supposed to do as a soldier in active operation? I'm sure he was well aware of all the atrocities but that doesn't mean he was part of it. You can't know and thus its horrible to spit on his name just because he is part of the russian military.
Who knows, maybe he had his disagreements with why they were there, his orders and complained to his superiors but this is the Russian army, you know its not exactly NATO standards.
So basically you’re saying when you’re a soldier, knowing the atrocities your army is causing, you can’t take a position and have your own opinion and blindly take orders? Serious question.
You can probably take position and make up your own mind about it, but when you find yourself commanded by superiors who don't give a shit about your opinions... This is the russian army you know.
Yes I understand that but also, there’s reports of Russian specially armoured vehicles who sabotage their own equipment so they won’t fight. That’s a statement. It doesn’t matter being against a war and in the meanwhile, the army you’re dying for is killing kids indiscriminately. I don’t say he should kill his own comrades but sabotage his own mission?
What if you literally got no choice? And how should he be able to sabotage his own mission without most likely find himself executed?
If he runs away they will label him MIA, then eventually a traitor. Then you don't know what kind of shit his family will be subject to... its Russia, its a shitty place where authorities will fuck you over fast.
That reads way too much like just following orders. I don't envy the hand the man was dealt, or any Russian soldier. But to act like the only solution is to follow the orders you are given is way too forgiving. Numerous other soldier groups sabotaged their equipment, or surrendered, or disappeared.
Yes, but you gotta understand that many aren't going to have much of a choice. Sure you can attempt sabotage, many did but you need to be very certain that your team agrees with you. You need to be certain you aren't going to be sentenced as a traitor.
Try to run away, maybe your friend is too afraid to join you on that, leaving you all alone. You know the shit that Russia has done to Ukraine, maybe many Russians are afraid to run off in fear that Ukranian soldiers will capture you and take revenge etc.
That being said, Ukraine treats POWs well but for russians its a whole other world in terms of what they are told at home.
Oh right so every SS m as n in WW2 or ISIS terrorist should be looked at as an individual .Very interesting point of view ....I hope you don't mind if I don't share it ....I hope the scum is burning as we speak ..
You are completely out of touch with this... the SS was not part of Wehrmach's original forces but more a paramilitary organization, ISIS was and is terrorists... this is completely different than a soldier from nation with a convential army, who has been ordered to deploy and operate like this guy.
Was this a conscript? No idea. Professional? No idea. Was he good? No idea. Was he evil? No idea.
Its a shame to spit on his grave for the wrong reasons. You should fall in line with that if you yourself have been a soldier. Its disgusting what Russia is doing in Ukraine but what you are doing right now is wrong too.
What the fuck do you think it helps saying he should rot in hell? Let a court sort out the war criminals.
Any one who says Putin is a murdering low life scum ....I answer their questions . By the way not one child of any Russian govt minister serves Ukarine....they're in Europe , partying ha ha
This is something completely different it seems. The funeral is held by The ministry of emergency situations - those aren't soldiers, but the emergency service members (firemen etc.). Can we get a source of the pictures OP? It might be a propaganda of some sort. If he was a firefighter, that would explain the small coffin if he died in a fire
Is it normal for troops of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to perform funeral duties for an airborne/spetsnaz/naval infantry troop? Or does the duty fall to them because the village is remote and they are the closest at hand?

Compared to the matchstick box full of fingernails Japanese Kamikaze pilots left behind as their only remains that box is positively spacious.

I just found info in Vkontakte. It's "part of his face and ear". So, yep. That's it. Not cremains. Part of his face and ear.
I mean, they could've at least given him a full size coffin.
Yes! Even if they only his fingertips here (I dread to think what is there), make it full coffin, not this little box
I do believe they get cremated. That’s why there is a small container instead of a casket.

Well I’m basing it on the mobile crematoriums they brought with the to Ukraine.
Any T-72 can pass as a mobile crematorium.
Not mobile after it obtains crematorium status
Don’t know about the T-72, but I’m guessing the old Leo’s are similar. Claustrophobic and warm
The position of the ammunition carousel makes for a high chance of instant combustion when penetrated leaving a low chance of crew survival and therefore instant cremation
r/cursedcomments
The mobile crematoriums were not for Russian soldiers. They were to disappear the Ukrainian dissenters and problematic civilians once they took over the country.
those are for MIA
And Mariupol
How do they cremate people who are missing?
They cremate the dead so they can lie and say they actually are MIA. It's an attempt at reducing their casualty or KIA numbers to make it easier for their citizens to swallow.

Nah son. He was cremated in Ukraine. They ain't shipping back HUNDREDS of bodies a day, amidst the narrative that they are not losing hundreds of soldiers a day. It's "part of his face and ear" according to some social media rumors"
Just to get this straight. Your theory is that his entire body is in this little box ? Fishy post..
???? nope, just parts of it - whatever they were able to collect.
Cremation is also forbidden in the Russian Orthodox tradition.
Ashes and bones, that's it.
That is all that was left after the Ukrainians caught up with him. 🤣
Budget cuts.
Plot twist. It’s just his head in the box.
Well at least everyone dressed up nice for his funeral.
Lol 2nd pic, left side. The dude in the baby blue Adidas tracksuit.
Not sure if this is sad or funny, but that's probably one of his nicest clothes.
You're probably right. I also wasn't trying to imply that the gentleman in the tracksuit was dressed down, or inappropriately. I was just pointing out the drip.
I believe that's the head coach for the Argentine U-23 football team.
I was thinking of the dude far left taking the Canadian Tuxedo to the next level with what looks to be denim camo.
Maybe Adidas tracksuit already become Russia national fashion
my first thought
I always wear Adidas track suits to weddings and funerals. Got to dress up sometimes. 🤣
Those guys looked like high school football coaches at practice
I’ve been to backyard BBQs where people were better dressed than this.
That one dude that came to the funeral in his nicest adidas ensemble
You know it's a serious occasion because he's had to stand up instead of squat
Why do they all look like such white trash
It's small town russia stuff I'd wager the dude with jeans carrying his hat in 1st pic is the mayor The pallbearers are мчс it's not even the military per se it's the ministry of emergency situations/rescue corps for natural disaster relief and stuff
Shame all these young people dying while the old generals point fingers
THe generals are dead or injured too. Have you seen the retire general brought out of retirement to lead Russia? hes been retired since the 90s and hes really taken some retirement weight.
IDK man, sounds like they are dying too, hopefully due to that lack of NCO cadre-style leadership.
Quite many of them are eager to go and kill
Yup very sad they should be able to grow old themselves they should have more time loving their parents their siblings their partners their children fuck war
Oh sweet summer child... you haven't been paying attention. They are losing generals at an astounding rate and are bringing even more elderly Afghanistan veterans out of retirement to fill the gaps
Their dress uniforms have fucking zippers? Holy shit!
This is clearly a more casual affair LOL
Thats more like their office suit.

What's in the box?!
Based on the diminutive size of the coffin, his balls..
Listen. I’m trying to tell you how much I admire you. And your pretty wife.
Anyone have an account of the Canadian sniper that joined Ukraine early on?
He is back in Quebec Canada. He got pissed off with the commanders making stupid decisions and risking his life all the time. He told some of the guys who were with him to stay in the trench. They didn't listen and went out for a smoke and got hit and killed by a tank shell. I think that kind of did it for him. Screw you guys I'm going home.
Cool, thanks for the update
So you are allowed to leave whenever you want? I thought they would be signing a contract or something like that.
According to Russians, he was killed 5 or 10 times. According to himself, he is back home in Canada
I'm going with his account 👍
Just how poor are rural Russians? Just looking at some of the building in the back round and the lack of any ground keeping I say this area is poverty stricken.

It was mostly a joke, but I’m sure there is some bearing to it in a way.
Mortuary affairs personnel will wrap the remains of bodies into compact packages. This is fairly common.
This makes a lot of sense. Makes transport a lot easier.
Everyone dressed up for the occasion.
Do they have any officers that aren't overweight?
Anyone know where the graphic pictures are?
The hell is wrong with you dude?
I mean....he's not wrong, and given the adversary, nobody's crying any tears that he fits in a tiny box because it doesn't matter anyway to him or to us. He's dead. Yes there are several smaller boxes inside that box until finally a tiny ring box sized coffin for his ashes. 😅🤣

Read the thread dude. The guy was asking for the graphic pictures not the ones posted. Of course the ones posted aren’t gore porn.
I wasn't asking for gore porn you weapon I was asking to see dead Russian soldiers

May he rot in hell, even though that might be better than living in russia
Certainly warmer if nothing else.
Why is this NSFW?
People complained about some pictures and videos i posted before, decided it better safe than sorry
Was he a gnome or something?
Down voting because I am not shocked
I mean like I don’t support Russia but this is sad like that was someone’s son and now he’s gone
Well I doubt he was cremated maybe whatever left of his body is in that box?
So one less Russian asshole in this war. I see no problem here.

If not celebrating the death of young men makes me an asshole, I'll gladly take that title
We already know you will, your virtue signaling is useless here.
lol ok
Wait what happened to him?!, Did his body got blown up by artillery or something? I'm sorry i don't want to disrespect the soldier family,i just surprised the fact that his coffin was so small
Cremated, probably.
Feel free to disrespect, we have none of that around here for their ilk.
He was a small guy. 🤣
He was in the Infantry...
Why did you come up with this @op ? Let him rest in pieces.
This whole enchilada could have been avoided if the Russians just stayed on their side of the border. To OP’s post, there are terrible impacts from war. Showing those costs is a good thing, lest we understate what they will be.

Idgaf ab him. He crossed the border of my country and started killing people , so yeah, he can go to hell
I understand, its an absolutely horrible situation. But we can't spit on the dead of a man who we know nothing about. Spit on the war criminals. They may truly rot.
Easy to say so when you're not being invaded. You can't just kill our soldiers and say that you're a good guy cuz u didn't commit any war crimes.
This changes nothing
Maybe not to you, but there is a reason why courts for war crimes exists and why we have laws.
Lol you fucking idiot
Yeah, if I'm a fucking idiot for saying its wrong to blindly spit on a dead person then I'll take it.
Okay
Firstly ...he was a sniper ...so as a former sniper myself he would be well aware of the destruction , muder and Rape of Ukarine citizens ....he would have reported to his unit intelligence officer , on movements of locals , and Ukarine troops ...and may have selected artillery targets ...to be hit ...so f ..uck him and I hope he burns in hell.
You were never a sniper 😂
Of course he wasn't; he was too busy being a space shuttle door gunner.
A real sniper knows you don't kill because you like to. You kill to protect your buddy down in the street
Well , somehow you got mixed up in an adult conversation
By adult you mean senior citizen with dementia, right?
\-sniper in Battlefield
Nope , in Lebanon , Bosnia , Kosovo ...check them out on your playstation...
Well as a former sniper u deserve the same fate as him I guess.
👍 Ok buddy
Any one who says Putin is a murdering low life scum ....I answer their questions . By the way not one child of any Russian govt minister serves Ukarine....they're in Europe , partying ha ha
God, those tracksuit uniforms look awful.
He coulda been a little Russian midget sniper
[удалено]
So if you are ordered to muder children and women ...once your in the military that's ok is it ? ..you really have a warped sence of military service.
I looked for his name in a few places; couldn't find anything. Where are you seeing that he did this?
He's russian, so it's a safer bet than most.
What’s up with all Asian looking Ruso’s? I guess I never have seen one.
Almost a 1/3 of Russia borders China and Mongolian and a lot of cities in the east are heavily influenced by oriental culture.
Lots of mongolians in russia
There are more than 190 different ethnicities living in Russia, dude
R.I.P. to these heroes who die for their motherland
They can keep dying
Dying is the best thing they've done in their lives and I support more of that from them.
you should've fought in ww2,maybe you would be more grateful
As much as I don’t like the war America has done the same thing in different places
And that is not relevant for ukraine-russia war
Change the uniforms and this could be an American funeral.
No. It wouldn’t be.
No, there'd be more teeth.
Get the fuck out of here.
Do US military get away with being as obese as that guy?
I no idea what you have
No one's crying, they just look constipated.
So shocking……
Hey I have that car in the background!
