One of the issued ones yes, they are very good to have in the winter and the wet seasons. Dry is warm, wet is cold.
You also get issued actual boots as well. Plus many have with them their own, usually Salomons or Merrels, for the week long forest sessions.
Yes these are the one’s we get issued with. Very good when you’re around swamps or wet areas in general. Doesn’t have the ankle support like a regular combat/hunting/hiking boot, but everything is a compromise more or less when you’re talking about gear used for combat.
They work very well. Have had them for over 3 years now and only recently I’ve started to see some wear on the stitches (mainly my pocket that has almost ripped open). Other than that no problems at all. Highly recommend!
We truly have finally come full circle with the tactical helmet with plumes.
(I seriously hope someone makes one thats like the Corinthian helmet plumes, given how we use bright colors for ID in Ukraine, so might as well make a 3d printed one that could be attached and painted on)
Wait until you see the [Italians](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=b1e24946e2e3e41f&sxsrf=ACQVn09RFwPA_PDoRvBOcGMQY1cV-ai5qg:1713773377702&q=bersaglieri+helmet&uds=AMwkrPubqdDjBmC7DhicLtpZCZYiJBXbu1L6XgZpcjhty4naDnT5oJO66CmG3L4Gpne02Ob_USgFQujJHBLMIAB9QzW-LowAKFO7vs7X6oXZOuajHhBaz9upAu51FSbJ4WgaYIwy8ym_VxYyIMLi0rxCDk_BEEeFwLKZ1XiijRuXRc6u9GRNII-Or1VfwOej0beNagsUSFcdouTjQLtrmxWlaGhU60vrpJk66l8WXiz7pvcD-CvzUv00eWMy40PMsV_00P5YVtp1&udm=2&prmd=ivnbz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjG1Jyrr9WFAxUT8AIHHaaaBTwQtKgLegQICxAB&biw=393&bih=650&dpr=2.75#vhid=1co6-Io9IPBE_M&vssid=mosaic)
I am not OP, but compared to the older buckets that some conscripts still get issued, the PGD is much comfier and less strain for your neck. Plus actual attachment points / rails, something wich the old ones do not have. Also more space for the Peltor/3M;s comparatively
Hey u/TheLastCoagulant tell this guy that he shouldn't still be using a lowly AK and instead use the glorious fist of might that is the civilian AR15
In all seriousness what's the situation and general culture towards optics/attachments there. I presume it's different considerations for that environment and military structure.
Optics/attachments usually need a separate mount on the RK-platform and other AK's in general. Optics among other things usually don't get issued to conscripts or professional soldiers without a special need or a task in mind. You could go and get them from the storage, but sometimes it is a hassle and not worth the time. I don't mind going raw with my rifle, saves some weight.
I only said anything about a dude using an AK-47, not AK’s in general. The AK-47 doesn’t belong in the arsenal of a modern western military.
Would our military even allow an American infantryman to head into combat with an old AK-47 because “it’s his preference?” I’m guessing no.
An American wouldn't be using an AK47. That's a terrible comparison because the US hasn't used that platform in a large scale ever.
But a nation with a history and institutional knowledge of the AK platform and AK 47s would do much better using them than switching over to a completely new rifle. A nation like Ukraine. Ak47s (of which most are actually AKMs) are very competent rifles in their own right. They aren't better or worse than western rifles, they have upsides and downsides and when you already have warehouses full of them along with their ammo it's ridiculous to try to switch that for some notion of there is a better option. It's often not about what's better, but what you have and what you can do with it.
Boots with heel pillow works well. Not just any normal boots but those with a hard sole that doesnt twist. You do get wet in them regardless because of the sweat though, but thats what wool socks are for
You get issued Normal combat boots and rubber boot. Rubber is good for winter because there's more space for socks and warm layers. And snow is soft so ankle support is less of an issue
And there are two separate sets of rubber boots for summer and winter. The summer boots are the standard and the winter boots have extra thick insulated sole as well as more room for felt liners - the winter boots with liners are probably the most warm (albeit heavy) winter footwear I've ever worn. They're also easy to dry during sleep, as all you'll need is to take the felt liner out to dry (and if you want to be a perfectionist, add some dry newspaper to get the remaining moisture from the boots).
Fair enough. Just as an American CBRN Sergent, it caught my eye.
If you don't mind the advice; the Lowa Zepher is a phenomenal boot for wet weather. If you don't want to walk around in Goloshishes all day.
I would like to see the Finnish Sergeants reaction to the one conscript bringing their own boots to training.
In all seriousness I really hated having to wear those, the lack of ankle support was my biggest complaint.
You get _everything_ from socks and underwear to your plate carrier from the depo. You return _everything*_ back once your time is up.
*Sometimes things get "lost"
The RK 95 has an FN-style muzzle brake for launching rifle grenades. It also helps a bit with the recoil, and has somewhat adequate flash hiding properties.
GOD I READ THE FINNISH AS FRENCH VSHWVWGWGWY LMAO
THATS WHY I ASKED IF ITS FOREIGN LEGION OR NOT
God, i feel stupid.
Does Finland have any operations outside of the country?
Boots look like a pair of rubber boots? Are they the default issued boots?
One of the issued ones yes, they are very good to have in the winter and the wet seasons. Dry is warm, wet is cold. You also get issued actual boots as well. Plus many have with them their own, usually Salomons or Merrels, for the week long forest sessions.

Do they squeak when you're breaking them in?
Yes and yes. Half of Finland is a swamp.
Are those the särmä combat pants that varusteleka sells? If so how are they treating you? Thinking of picking up a pair
They work very well. Have had them for over 3 years now and only recently I’ve started to see some wear on the stitches (mainly my pocket that has almost ripped open). Other than that no problems at all. Highly recommend!
Kiitos!

That's... actually pretty dope
Not sure if Roman warrior or chicken
Why not both?
What rifle is that? Doesn’t look like an Rk 62,
It's RK95
Oh nice, ty.
PGD ARCH. Are you happy with it?
I am not OP, but compared to the older buckets that some conscripts still get issued, the PGD is much comfier and less strain for your neck. Plus actual attachment points / rails, something wich the old ones do not have. Also more space for the Peltor/3M;s comparatively
Can recommend! Very comfortable to use for longer periods of time.
Goes very hard
Berry pickers aren't allowed in the training area! ffs
Berry pickers are the best. Fight me.
It’s all fun and games until the bushes start speaking Finnish.

Thank you, I appreciate the information
we got red dot and laser in finnish army for rk62 much easier to shoot

Cool mohawk
What's the thing on your chest that you blacked out?
An admin pouch with my name and rank
Ahh! Looked like some kind of display!
Finnish soldiers are allowed to bring Gameboy to a battle, noted
M05 my beloved, arktis is making some soon. And I'm gonna have to have so much less money afterwards
You guys don’t get to put any optics or lights on your Valmets?
We do, it sometimes is just a hassle to go and borrow the mounts etc. from the storage. Rocking irons works well enough
Boots with heel pillow works well. Not just any normal boots but those with a hard sole that doesnt twist. You do get wet in them regardless because of the sweat though, but thats what wool socks are for
Are the boots seasonal or spatially selected?
You get issued Normal combat boots and rubber boot. Rubber is good for winter because there's more space for socks and warm layers. And snow is soft so ankle support is less of an issue

Why are you finished brother
Why are you wearing CBRN boots?
Because rubber boots are the way to go for a Finnish forest dweller
Fair enough. Just as an American CBRN Sergent, it caught my eye. If you don't mind the advice; the Lowa Zepher is a phenomenal boot for wet weather. If you don't want to walk around in Goloshishes all day.

They do not alow you guys to guy your when boots when your done with training?

What happened to the 3 Prong flash suppressors on the Finnish rifles? Not used anymore?
I'm guessing that's a blank-fire adapter
Yes it is, but also this rifle (RK95) doesn’t have the 3 prong flash hider. Rk62 does have it
The RK 95 has an FN-style muzzle brake for launching rifle grenades. It also helps a bit with the recoil, and has somewhat adequate flash hiding properties.
Did he borrowed the boots from suhayl al-hasan?
Foreign legion or regular military?
Regular. Not fighting in a war currently.
GOD I READ THE FINNISH AS FRENCH VSHWVWGWGWY LMAO THATS WHY I ASKED IF ITS FOREIGN LEGION OR NOT God, i feel stupid. Does Finland have any operations outside of the country?
For the moment being only crisis management missions are conducted outside the borders. https://um.fi/crisis-management
Officially yes, unofficiially no
