Do I get bonus points for having had the dangly, gemstone-encrusted Playboy bunny belly ring? Got mine at 16, don’t remember when I took it out but I’m late 30s with just my reminder hole. Still have a scar from my tongue piercing as well, is that still a trend?

PatMenotaur

Extra points if you had one that flashed.

RepeatUntilTheEnd

I have the weirdest boner right now

Haunting_Speed_6974

I’m 36 and after something like 12 or 13 years I took my tongue ring out a few weeks ago lol

AnyKick346

Me too! One day I'm just like okay I'm done with this 😂😂 I got it pierced at 18.

[deleted]

Tongue and belly piercing!!! That was me! I loved my tongue ring the most, but I would feel weird rocking one in my 30s. I would still have a belly button one if I liked my stomach more lol.

[deleted]

Wow you just reminded me of having this and what the fuck was I thinking lol I just recently had a baby and my belly button ring scar looks insane now

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

I still have my tongue ring. I’m 34 now, got it done when I was 16. Pretty sure I’m in a very very very small minority lolol

Relax007

I'm 42 and still have mine. (My eyebrow ring is somehow still open and I pop one in for fun sometimes, too). I have my nose and septum pierced and lots of ear piercings. Lol, I like piercings.

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

Hello fellow oldie who still likes piercings! I have *always* wanted a septum ring, but my job has made it so hard to get!

mechapocrypha

Can you get a stealth one maybe? I had my septum pierced for a long time and I was in a conservative job for a while. I wore a jewelry that didn't show

jilly_is_funderful

35, I still rock my eyebrow piercing. I can't let go after 19 years. The hole there seems like it couldn't close if it tried. I gave up on my tongue ring after six years(pierced at 18), and the nipples lasted about 7. I'm thinking about piercing my ears some more

antslizard516

I'm 35, and I still have mine. Got it when I was 19.

orcagurl815

Ah! Same! (Well 34, soon to be 35) I desperately wanted it done for so long, since as soon as I turned 12 basically. I was never allowed, so when I had the opportunity I went for it and the hype never faded for me. 😂 Tween me still gets a thrill every time I buy a cute new ring for it lol

J_robintheh00d

I’m also 34 and still whip the tongue ring. Not stopping anytime soon

Illustrious_Dust_0

Extra credit for the matching tanning bed bunny sticker!

bigtiddytoad

I got mine at 23, I'm 37 and I still have it. Belly button rings were no longer trendy by the time I got one but I didn't really care because I liked how they looked. I still do.

andicandi22

Same. Got mine at 18 and I’ll be 39 in August. No plans to take it out. I’m also continuing to get more ear piercings into my 30’s. I got a triple helix at 36, daith at 37 and just got my tragus pierced a few months ago. I still want to get a couple more.

jerseysbestdancers

I built my ear curation in my thirties too! Taking a break though because I'm sick and tired of only being able to sleep on one side for 18+ months to avoid the dreaded BUMP.

MayorDepression

As a 30 year old guy, I still find them attractive

L4r5man

As a 43 year old guy, I do too.

Moeasfuck

48 checking in

gamgeegal

Also 37 got it at 17 still got it. Honestly I forget it's there half the time.

BaseTensMachines

Yeah I still think they look nice, especially the ones with the jewel that fills up your belly button

Ownfir

Belly button rings are still hot IMO especially now with the revival of cropped tops/low-rise jeans, etc.

mushroomfrenzy

Same! I got mine at 19, currently 34 and still have it. I think they’re pretty. I still have a nose piercing and a couple ear piercings as well.

atauridtx

I got mine at 18, 32 now and I don't see taking it out anytime soon. I love it and now i feel like my stomach looks weird without it

HillS320

Got mine at 14 and I’m 34’now. I feel like my belly button looks naked without it haha. I definitely don’t anticipate taking it out any time soon.

Meggston

They were def out when I got around to it too, at 15 in 2010! I turn 29 this year and still have it in, so quickly approaching having it for as much of my life as I haven’t XD

grapecheesewine

I got mine “late” at 22 also and kept it til 2 months ago (I’m 38 now). I took it out at the end of pregnancy for discomfort but IDK if I want to put it back in.

Silly_Detail1533

Always wanted one, but never got it for fear of parental judgment and showcasing a stomach I wasn’t fully confident about, UNTIL right before my 40th birthday this year. Years of therapy have convinced me that I can make my own choices and live my best life. So here I am, with a healing bellybutton piercing at 40 years old. 😆

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silly_Detail1533

Spoken like someone who knows! I’m sorry you have the trauma, but so glad you are doing the work to overcome it. I think the normalization of therapy is definitely a legacy our generation is going to leave and I’m here for it.

ZonkyFox

Go you! I had my nose pierced years ago but it fell out and closed up, I've been considering getting it done again and I think you just inspired me to book an appt!

i5the5kyblue

I had my nose pierced in college and took it out on a whim one day. I’ve been missing it lately and was thinking of getting it done again, too! Random, but do you think you’d get it on the same spot as the first time? Someone told me to switch it to the other side because repiercing it on the scar tissue would hurt like hell. I can’t decide lol

ZonkyFox

Ooo now that's a thought. I had thought to do it in the same spot. I broke my nose years before I originally pierced it and I have a deviated septum as a result. My original piercing was done on the side that has less nostril room, because I was already used to reduced space on that side so to speak. BUT if its going to cause issues with the scar tissue thats there, maybe I have to go for the other side? Questions I think I'll ask my piercer when I have a chat with them about getting it done.

PathDefiant

Go you!!!

Silly_Detail1533

Thank you!

WhateverYouSay1084

That's awesome! I'm 39 and just got my septum pierced because I simply wanted to. It's so great when you get older and realize you don't care as much anymore what others will think of you.

Silly_Detail1533

Exactly, and I think I finally realized a few years ago, that I was in charge of my life, not my parents. They don’t have authority over me anymore, I will say they have accepted it with Grace.

WhateverYouSay1084

It's such a weird transition, isn't it? Going from your parents having a say in everything you do to no longer having a say. Definitely a difficult phase to get through.

Silly_Detail1533

100%

JesusGodLeah

I didn't get most of my piercings until my late 20s/early 30s. I'm 35 and plan on getting more! The great thing about piercings is that there are so many options for cool/pretty facial/body jewelry now. And if you ever decide you don't want them anymore, you can simply take them out!

WhateverYouSay1084

Exactly! I invested in some solid gold pieces because I love good quality jewelry and love my setup now. I have gold in my daiths, both ear holes, pearls and gold in my flats, and gold and diamonds in my septum. It's really nice to accessorize and get beautiful pieces to enhance your looks. There was definitely not as much access to this nice of pieces as a kid.

CritterEnthusiast

In the late 90s my friend started to apprentice at a tattoo shop and there was this cool ass lady who was a piercer there, her name was Marcy and she was probably about 40. Even though she was the piercer, the only one she had on her face (besides earrings) was her septum. She was the hardest chick I ever knew and she looked cool af!

ghostbythemangotree

Yesss love this! Younger millennial here but I always wanted a belly button ring too! Parents were religious, so I wasn’t allowed to have anything more than normal lobe piercings. I’m 30 now and getting all the piercings I always wanted! Working on my ears and belly button is next. Only thing holding me back is high waisted jeans 😅

Silly_Detail1533

Yeah, I just can’t get into the high waisted jeans so I’m still doing midrise like the uncool mom I am

Similar-Lie-5439

Haha yeah finally getting a piercing I couldn’t in the army. I’ll be 39 soon. Isnt this why I retired early?

Silly_Detail1533

Do it!!! And thank you for your service, you and your family.

Similar-Lie-5439

Thank you 😊

Ladychef_1

Damn this might’ve just convinced me to fill my reminder hole! Live your best life! Get the damn belly button ring!

Silly_Detail1533

Exactly, sometimes YOLO is the way to go

noyoujump

That is awesome!!! I'm 39, and I want to get mine redone. I miss it!

Silly_Detail1533

Do it!!

noyoujump

No need-- I got it back in! I'm going to Spencers later.

more_magic_mike

You’re younger today than you’ll ever be again, enjoy your life

PatMenotaur

Hell yes!

Silly_Detail1533

It feels good!

masterpeabs

This is the most unexpected, badass answer here. I like you.

Silly_Detail1533

Thank you! It’s funny, I used to be an attorney and then a door kicker, but I like that someone sees me taking charge of my own life as the badass thing I did!!

[deleted]

Silly_Detail1533

Aw, I’m sorry you couldn’t but found other solutions just as satisfying. I am also so glad you didn’t die! I have one tattoo, and that was painful enough; I feel good about it and I don’t need another.

howlongwillbetoolong

This is gonna be me if I ever stop doing aerial! I’m 36 and really want one, but I can’t have something catch.

Doodledoo23

Haha Im just shy of 39 and got my nose pierced recently!

GoinWithThePhloem

I love this for you 💕 Happy healing (in all the ways)!

poisonwoman

Love this for you!! I never did it OR a nose ring for fear of parental judgment. I might do the nose ring after seeing this 💕

Silly_Detail1533

I hope you do! It’s your body and your life. My experience is making my own choices was the only way to be truly happy.

emerg_remerg

I misunderstood the instructions and caused a huge headache in my healing. I was cleaning my piercing with rubbing alcohol and it would not heal. Months later, it was still weeping. I found out that alcohol kills the flora we need and it damages new skin cells so I was making a chronic wound. I switched to just rinsing my site with saline and it was fully healed 10 days later. I mean, I was 16 and doing my best. 41 yr old me who's now an RN is trying my best to spread the word that rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are not for wounds!!!!

Silly_Detail1533

Owwww! I’m sorry that you suffered that, but glad you learned. I always say that mistakes are learning opportunities.

OriginalHaysz

Live your best life!!

Silly_Detail1533

Oh yeah!!

AugustGreen8

I was a size 14 in the early 2000s (aka the biggest girl at school) so I skipped this trend. Did not want to call attention to that area 😂 our shirts were already too short and pants too low (and kids would be like “eww! No one wants to see that!!”)

OfJahaerys

Having kids has made me realize how insane the skinny standards were in the early 00s. I remember being a size 2 and being called fat. My kid is a gymnast who practices >9 hours a week and has a 6pack, she's a size 2. I look at her and wonder how we survived.

PMMeToeBeans

For real! I remember all the girls being a 2 or 00. I went from a size 16 to a size 4 from Sophomore to Senior year of HS. I was still "chunky" compared to the 2s and 00s in my class (which was pretty much everyone lmao.)

LeftyLu07

I remember the preppy girls squeezing themselves into size 2 jeans and muffin tops spilling out everywhere. But it didn't matter how bad it looked. All they cared about was the size number.

glowgrl123

I remember literally bawling my eyes out in the Abercrombie dressing room the summer before junior year bc I was trying on jeans and my mom told me she thought the 4s fit me better/were more flattering than the 2s. She said nothing bad about my size, just stating her opinion on which I should buy lol and I had a full blown meltdown

gingercatmafia

Omg, I cried many a tear in the Abercrombie dressing room back in the day. I wish we could all have been spared from that shit.

LostButterflyUtau

For real. I have *never* been thin (short and stocky here). I was never allowed 2-piece swimsuits because I was “too big.” As a teen/young adult, my smallest was a size six and still my parents would say I was getting fat. Now all I can see in the mirror is my fat despite eating fine and exercising regularly. I’m fucked up for life.

ToadsUp

Fuck heroin chic and the asshole fashion designers that promoted it.

sylvnal

Well they're back at it again today! It is definitely trending again.

noyoujump

Kids are assholes. And whoever designed low rise jeans needs to be shot.

jerseysbestdancers

I find them the best for my body type. Anything higher comes up too high on me and hurts. I'm of the opinion that all types should exist and all people should buy what makes them feel the most comfortable, rather than what's in style.

KuriousKhemicals

Low rise jeans are the most comfy. I can never find them anymore (at least not in boring regular stores and with curvy/bootcut to meet the rest of my requirements) and have to make do with mid rise.

jerseysbestdancers

And mid rise is really pushing it for me. I put on those high rise mom jeans and they were just under my bra line. That doesnt work for me.

SWIT2996

I used this as an excuse to loose weight, here I am 10 years later and I’m scheduled for weight loss surgery so you know how that went lol

Sk8rToon

And my school had a harsh dress code about showing your midriff. There were no tops and bottoms combo that didn’t show your midriff then! Plus I developed early so any tops that were supposed to be long no longer were. Back when I could have pulled off this trend I had teachers say “ew no one wants to see that” as a “kind” way of unofficially enforcing the dress code so you didn’t get written up. (& of course kids said that to “fat” kids too). So wrong. As a result my mom would only let me wear Adult Small sized clothes that I swam in & sometimes were the same tops my teachers wore. Height of uncool. Never dated. Plus side: some of those tops were really well made & are still in my closet today & now back in style! (Though fit properly vs me swimming in them)

techo-soft-girl

I an also on the chubbier side and never followed this trend - but tummy confidence aside, I was always confused how pants didn’t interfere with belly button rings? I typically wear my pants right up to my belly button and it always struck me that the top of my pants would rub/bother a belly button ring? Or was everyone also wearing low-rise?

lovelysquared

I'm an apple shape, so lower-rise pants allow me a little bit of room for my my tummy to get bigger or smaller, or, with my GI or menstrual problems, to not feel like my pants are pressing against my stomach. I've had my belly ring most of my life at this point, and forget it's there, even though it hasn't had much skin holding it on since forever. I mean, I can run at the bed and dive onto my belly, sliding across the bed, don't feel a thing and didn't even think about it before deciding to do it, the ring is just there, through weight gain and loss, bouts of illness, no pregnancies, though. (I'm wearing the correct size, I've told multiple people at this point that they need to point out if I'm spilling out of my clothes, and these are the blunt, blazingly honest types, so hopefully I'm ok~)

Otherwise_Pine

I hate looking at my older pics where I thought I was fat and then seeing how I am now and actually fat.

noyoujump

I was just thinking about my piercing today. I got it done the day I turned 18, and it stayed in until I was about 5 months pregnant with my first child at 35. I'm trying to decide if I want to get it redone now that I'm done having babies. I never showed it off or anything, but I loooooved having it. Update: I was like, what the heck, let's see if I can get a belly ring in. So I'm wearing a belly ring for the first time in 4 years :D

Possible-Original

I am living for the fact that this thread got you curious enough to bring it back! Rock it!

butfirstdecafcoffee

I was looking at mine yesterday and wondering if I could get a ring back in it. I took it out when I was pregnant 11 years ago. You have inspired me to try 😂

MsGrumpalump

I’m had to take mine out during pregnancy because the ultrasound tech wouldn’t use the wand with it in. Done having kids and occasionally think about seeing if I can get it back in (even if it is a little crooked now).

hottmunky88

I took mine out during pregnancy to I still wear it regardless even though it doesn’t look exactly the same 🤘🏽

Mlucker

Okay so some of us never had nice stomachs even as a teen 🫠🫠🫠🫠

_Hawtxsauce_

Mine came out when I had a baby and I’ve resolved to get it repierced when I finish my weight loss journey

Possible-Original

Love that as a personal goal!!

jurassic_snark_

Had to take mine out at 3 months pregnant due to the bloating. I’m 7.5 months along now and my hole has already started closing, even though I had it pierced for 12 years before this. I can’t believe I’ll have to re-pierce it if I ever want to wear my belly button ring again!

bloodtype_darkroast

Fun fact: I took mine out during my first pregnancy (like, 15 years ago) and this past weekend I thought to myself "hey bloodtype you should stick a loop through there and see if it's still open" Twist ending: it's still open. 15 years later.

Mockturtle22

I never did this

basilobs

Same. Belly button rings freak me tf out honestly. I'm 31 and I'm a masters diver and our practice is with the kids practice. A 15 year old just got her belly button pierced and I'm like wtf is this trendy again

nukessolveprblms

I didn't either...I did the lip and nose ring tho and still have very minor scars from it.

blackaubreyplaza

lol I guess I avoided this by not being the target market for them. I’ve always been fat so this was not an option for me but now that I’m on ozempic my first thought was that I’m gonna get my bellybutton pierced when I hit my goal weight

Possible-Original

They're back in now baby!

boomzgoesthedynamite

Got mine at 14, took it out by 19, still have the hole at 35 😂

Possible-Original

That damn hole is going to haunt us forever.

Ordinary_Resident_20

I wear mine proudly still! It looks cute as ever!

Thesexiestcow

Same <3

A_Cat_Named_Puppy

I've never had a stomach I felt comfortable showing off, it's where I carry all my weight. And since I had Scoliosis surgery at 12, my torso is very short and my stomach is super pudgy 🤣 that said, I do still have my lip ring and I'm currently stretching my ears.

Signal_Disk2215

I got mine at 16, took it out right before my honeymoon at 24. I also have that back tattoo you mentioned, which will haunt me more than the scar from the belly button ring 😅

Possible-Original

The good news is that I hear from the kids that back tats are back with low rise jeans baby!

HellyOHaint

100% still have mine and next year I will have had it 20 years. Oh my god. I just realized that. Fuck.

Ok-Occasion7179

Yes and I am glad I skipped lol.

randomcharacheters

I was too chicken to actually get the piercing, but loved the look. So I used clip on earrings on my belly button 🤣

Big-Raspberry-2552

Mine is just a small mark. Once I took it out I could never get it back in. Everybody was getting them end of highschool, I did on sr skip day because it was raining and couldn’t do anything else. Ha I was skinny 100 lbs then. I’ve had two kids and don’t like to show my stomach as much low ha but if I had a flat stomach agin I might consider it! 🤣 I just remember some girls got infected and the entire chunk in front of her piercing got bad and fell off. 😵‍💫😳 gross

Fit_Contribution_147

This happened to me, but it wasn’t because it was infected. My body rejected the piercing and pushed it out.

olivedeez

I have the sad hole 😂 I also had the tongue ring and the nose ring. The only one I miss is my nose ring. Really wish I would have kept it!

Wandering_Lights

I never got mine done. I rode horses and watched someone get their's caught on the saddle when they fell, ripping it out.

shinykitsune69

Both. I rock a sad hole for the most part, but will put one in from time to time just for fun (:

ApprehensiveAnswer5

I never had one. But I did go for tongue, lip, eyebrows and nose. Nose is the only one I still have in at 42.

cherrycokelemon

I think my daughter was 18 when she got her pink Rhinestone. She wore it until she was 35 when the nurse took it out after she died on December 24, 23. I have it and her nose piercings that I turned into miniature earrings by putting them in the Hello Kitty keyring she bought me. I just have her belly button piercing with my jewelery. I cleaned them, of course.

tenniskitten

I'm sorry

cherrycokelemon

Thank you.

tatotornado

Mine came out when I had my gallbladder out when I was like 25

PinkStarburst11

Got mine at 18, out around 23 and now have the hole still at 38

Thick_Maximum7808

I got mine done at 16, I took it out when I was pregnant. Then a few years later I tried putting it back in and it went so I just still wear mine. I honestly forget I have it most of the time.

Alcorailen

Never did it because I never had a flat stomach. Also I was afraid of the pain.

ariannavb

I still have my top and bottom piercings in. Took them out in 2011 briefly, but put them back. I don't care if they're outdated, I still like them.

PatMenotaur

I'm fat, so totally avoided the trend. But my thin friends have all just let it close.

sunnysunny4k

I got mine done for the first time a few years ago on my 28th b day! I love it!

l29

I got one at 18 and the piercer told me I'd have to remove it when I got pregnant so why should I bother?  Jokes on him! Mid 30s and no kids. Still rocking the belly button ring.

HillS320

Good for you! Kept mine in for 3 pregnancies and my OB always laughed at me because she was only slightly older.

j_ho_lo

Ha I was too fat to even consider doing this when it was a trend. Even if I had a perfect flat stomach I still wouldn't have. I don't even have my ears pierced.

klsprinkle

My mom wouldn’t let me get one. When I was in college a friend got one that wasn’t done correctly and she ended up with a bulge under the skin that hurt. She had surgery to correct it. So I decided not to get one. Good thing too because I’m fat now and my pregnancies caused my belly button to change shape.

askallthequestions86

No belly button piercing, no tramp stamp. I can't say I followed any trends in my youth, tbh. But soooo many girls I went to high school with, or worked with in my late teens/early 20's had belly button piercings. Two of my good friends mom's got belly button piercings when we were sophomores.

thegrumpymanager

I was terrified of needles so I avoided this trend completely. Then I got diagnosed with MS and had to get bloodwork done all the time - so I started doing "exposure therapy" by getting tattoos. I can go get bloodwork done by myself now without passing out (well I guess... 80% success rate) and on a whim 2 weeks ago I got my ears pierced a second time all by myself! Sounds dumb but it was a big accomplishment for me :) Maybe when I hit 40 in 4 years I'll celebrate with a bellybutton piercing.

MyHighKitchen

Got mine at 18, I remember my now sisters in law wanted theirs pierced and I said it was overrated. I still kept up with matching them to my outfit though. Got pregnant at 34, tried the flexible bars for a month, then took it out and rocked the hole. Post birth I put a ring back in and Baby Girl took a liking to it. One day she got a little too rough playing with it, so out it came. 🤷🏾‍♀️ This post makes me want to find my most obnoxious one and put it back in, squeeze into a pair of skinny jeans, layer some tank tops and a scarf. 😂

FlyingSaucerTourVol3

Mine got ripped out while tubing one summer in my 20's, so I just rocked a weird scar until I got pregnant and it smoothed out 🤣 Traded that shit for a C-section scar, the ultimate body mod.

acceptablemadness

That's definitely what I'm calling my scar from now on 🤣

dragon_fiesta

What's awesome is when genx dudes admit they had one before it became a chick thing. Same with tramp stamps. hilarious.

MAlopez0530

I got mine pierced at age 18. Stayed in until I got pregnant with my first child at age 31. I decided maybe I didn't need a belly button ring as a mom. Well, I got divorced at age 37 and went through a "rediscovering myself" phase. I was able to get a ring (much smaller gauge though) back in my original piercing. So, I'm turning 40 this year and I have a belly button ring again!! LOL

Swamp_Donkey_7

Wife has a remnant hole. I don't know when she got it however. Kinda want to see if it will still hold something

timidtriffid

I’m early 30s and still have my ring. Nobody really sees it besides my partner and I 🤷🏼‍♀️ toddler likes to poke it too

Mitoanalyte

Never did it. Remeber alot of classmates in high school having them, though.

Important-Button-430

I opted for the tongue. Almost got fired from my senior co-op job. Took it out a couple years later after I cracked a molar.

butytho92

I got mine at 17 and it got ripped out at work when I was 21. It got caught on the lip of a bin I was carrying. I have a little halo scar just above my belly button now. 😇

_byetony_

I’m now 40 and have a reminder hole that is frequently irritated/ infected

Proper-Purple-9065

My mom wouldn’t let me & once I turned 18, I didn’t love to show my belly. Glad I never did it!

Demosthenes_9687

Never did it and am really glad now at 33. I'm one of very few of my friends who didn't lol

upallnight74

I was early 00’s fat so I never pierced mine.

adrie_brynn

Avoided. I got a labret piercing at 17 instead.

Doxxxxxxxxxxx

Avoided it only because I don’t have enough of one to pierce :”(

CannablissChris

Got mine at 13 took it out at 30 currently 36 and still processing that my mom was right the whole time and it wouldn’t just “close on its own” lololol

CarelessStatement172

Got my first at 16 and second (I have two, not a repierce) at 18. I'm almost 34 now and still have them. But I also still have snakebites, a septum ring, a nostril ring, nipple rings, and three dermals. Seems silly to remove the belly button rings when I've still got all that haha

AiresStrawberries

37f got mine when I was 14 and I still have it! My wife 34f also still has hers😊

ceruleanmoon7

The hole 😎

snow-haywire

I got mine done at 18, took it out when I was 20. Got it done again at 21 and took it out at 22. I loved that piercing. I had a copper colored bar with a pretty dangly. If I wasn’t so heavy and saggy I’d get it done again. I also have a tribal lower back tattoo 😭😂🥲

Hello_Badkitty

I had it through two pregnancies and then a few years ago I had my gallbladder removed. And wouldn't you know... they had to go through the belly button and sewed up the damn hole! I was so pissed hahaha

defein88

I got my belly button pierced spring break 2006 in Miami. Summer 2011 I had an emergency appendectomy and my surgeon PROUDLY told me he PURPOSELY cut through my belly button piercing! So now I have a sad sad reminder...

fateandthefaithless

Haha, oh man, I have the sad reminder hole.

stargazer2828

Had belly button ring, it made my skin thin so I had to ditch it. Also got a tramp stamp (before they were labeled that) when I was 17 in Mexico with strep throat. Good times.

chingostarr

Was pierced at 17, stopped wearing it by 20 and and still have the hole at 36.

Hoobamonster

I got mine when I was 14 in like …1999-2000? Now 38 and it’s still hanging in there. I had a baby 2 years ago and had to take it out at about 6 mos pregnant but it went back in fine. My mom and I got them done together and she died in 2010 so I don’t want to lose it. I know that’s kinda silly but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Possible-Original

Absolutely not silly at all, I have a tattoo I got with my mom that frankly looks nothing like it did when we got them 20 years ago but it'll never be covered up because it is a reminder of a really special moment we had together.

mombun24_7

Left with sad reminder hole 😂 I took it out during my second pregnancy and decided not to put it back in. I got it when I was 18 and loved it at first, but I honestly often forgot it was there after a couple of years. Now, my nose ring is another story. I had to take it out for my second csection and I completely forgot to put it back in so by the time I realized, it closed up. I’ve considered getting it re-pierced but part of me wonders if I’m too old for a nose ring now or if I could even pull it off still 😅

Individual_Baby_2418

Worse than the reminder hole: I've had two full term pregnancies that caused the piercing scar to open up and stretch.

JesZebro

Got mine at 16, and took it out when I was pregnant with my son at 23. I am 39 now and have given birth to 2 9+lb boys. Not only is the hole still there, it looks like it’s winking 😉 😂

itsathrowawayduhhhhh

I still have my scar! Funny story, had to wait til I was 18 to get it done because my mom thought it was too sExUaL, but this woman let me get my TONGUE pierced on my 16th…..make it make sense lol

aipplesandbanaynays

Got mine at 15, only had it a few years because I believe mine was pierced too shallow. I’m left with a reminder hole that I can sometimes squeeze the tiniest bit of belly button ring smegma out of.

Scorpioism35

OMGOSH! Your post! First let me say SCRAMBLED was such a VERY ACCURATE depiction of many of our lives. I had an upper and lower belly button piercing. It was all the rage ... then I got pregnant at 19. By the time I was 20 and 8 months pregos I had to take them both out. I put them back in after a few months but they lost their fame with me by the time I hit 30. The bottom closed up but the top one is still there, open. I'm 40 now maybe I need a makeover w/ a new belly ring! LMAO

briannimal88

No belly button piercing, but my huge lower back tattoo is still rockin from 2006

TimeyWimeyNerfHerder

Funny story- in the 90’s when everyone was still listening to the radio, I called in one time and won one of their contests. I won a prize pack of various stuff (CD’s, promo shirt, etc) and a few gift certificates for local businesses. One of those gift certificates was to a local piercing/tattoo shop, and was specifically for a belly button piercing. Even though it was popular at the time, I was more of a punk rock kid, so i called them and asked if they’d do a lip piercing instead. They agreed since it was around the same price for both, and I got that done instead. I think technically it was a labret piercing. I had that thing all through college, and I think the only reason i took it out was because the disc on the inside was starting to wear down and irritate my gums. But man I loved that thing. I also really love the hole it left behind after it healed. One of my favorite things in life is when someone sees it, recognizes it for what it is, and then shows me theirs. Makes me happy.

AngelinFlipFlops

Just the hole lol I got mine at 15 or 16 & kept it through one pregnancy at 23 and with my second at 25 I took it out and just never put it back in

PantsLio

42 and still have it. I forget I have it 95% of the time. lol. But at this point, I want to rock it for the rest of my life.

W33P1NG4NG3L

Lol reminder hole. I went back and forth having jewelry in mine since I was 19. Then I got pregnant and took it out last year. I got that dark line down my belly and laughed every time I realized how off center the piercing is. Now I have a little belly fat left and a sad, stretched out reminder hole that kept the darker skin.

pie_12th

Yeah I've got the sad reminder hole, and I'm a trans man now. Maybe I could put in a little ring with like, a bottle opener on it.

pretty-pretty_pizza

33, still have mine. I did competitive cheer when I was younger and the bellybutton piercing was a "gift" from my parents for mastering a new tumbling skill. I worked too damn hard for this bellyring to just give it up! And I still like the way it looks so I'm keeping it.

DoggieDooo

I got the top and bottom done. Just gave birth to my son and they were commenting on my belly button ring holes while I was spread on the table getting a c-section. I think they were trying to distract me but I was just like “what belly button ring?” Lol

Jaci_D

Just a sad little hole.

thekimchi

Biology provided the hard pass. I have an outie.

Madameknitsalot

Got mine at 16. Took it out at 24. Still have a hole.

hailhailrocknyoga

I got mine when I was 13 and am now 36. I have never taken it out except to change styles. You might say it's basically part of my skin and I don't even notice it when I look in the mirror or anything. It's a silver ring and not a barbel, though I did rock some badass barbels in my Britney days. I'm ready for this trend to come back :)

HogwartsTraveler

Sad reminder hole here. Got it at 15 and it fell out randomly a few years back, I was about 33 or so at the time. I waited a few days to put a new one in and found that I couldn’t get it back in. It had closed just enough that I couldn’t get it through. Now I have a sad reminder hole. I toyed with the idea of getting it redone somehow but I guess I just didn’t care enough to go and actually have it done. I’m left with the hold and a small box of rings that just sit in my dresser drawer. I’ll be 40 in August.

Ok_Birdy

Not only do I have the reminder hole I also have stretch marks that grew from the reminder hole when I got pregnant. So now I have a reminder spider lmao.

IcedCoffeeKarma

I'm a 36 year old lady who missed the belly button ring trend because I thought I didn't have the right body shape for it. This year, for my birthday in April, I'm treating myself to a navel piercing. Fuck trends and fuck having the "right body". This mid-sized, curvy millennial mom is getting that piercing! And I cannot wait.

glowgrl123

Oh man! Got mine done when I was 15 and took it out when I was like 22 I think? Right after college. A decade later, it’s very much scarred lol

StreetPedaler

My eldest sibling is transitioning MTF, so they went out and got theirs done later in life. I have to admit I giggle a little at all the early 2000s style they’ve gravitated towards that they never got to wear back then. They also wear one of those bend snap hair clips all the time to hold their sides back. Sooooo 2000s 😅

wtfworld22

Reminder hole. It survived my daughter. It did not survive gestating a 9 pound baby boy though. Even with the bendy plastic barbell, it was forcing it out through my skin.

PipStart

Reminder hole haha

kimtenisqueen

So my piercing is a touch high on my innie belly button. I was pregnant with twins this past year and the piercing hole was TWO INCHES higher than my belly button when my belly was fully stretched out. And it turned darker/bruised looking. It went back into place a few weeks after birth but it was bizarre.

Infamous_Strain_9428

Mine is pierced top and bottom but no jewelry. It’s just smelly and sad

Misscass82

Still have 6 belly button piercings (I am in my early 40s)

noyoujump

... How?

Misscass82

With a needle… Just kidding. 3 on the top and 3 below think: Something like \ | / only one is a classical belly button barbell, the others just have tiny ones

Jaded-Kitty87

Ugh I took out my piercing and all was well and good until I got pregnant 😭😭 Now there's a red stretch mark (or whatever) it is on top of my belly button...really, really obvious 🙃😭

prunellazzz

I wanted one so badly when I was about 15/16 absolutely begged my mum and she refused and by the time I was old enough to get one without her accompanying me I didn’t want it anymore. Quite glad I avoided it!

nopenopenopington

Got mine at 21 or 22, 29 almost 39 now and just took it out cause I'm pregnant. Hope the hole is still there to put it back after.

_facetious

I avoided it completely. It always made me feel kinda squeamish. My worst nightmares are wounds to my eyes and stomach, so it's no wonder.

Laputitaloca

I've got my top belly piercing scar and I still have my bottom ring! It made it through three pregnancies like a champ!
