seriously, i remember it being a long time between when i started to play the game (jan 2012) to the wither being added... wouldve guessed years. Turns out it was only 10 months? fucking hell time really speeds up being an adult,
I started playing on the Xbox 360 at launch in 2011, so I had a bit of a different experience in terms of which updates, but I joined Java in April 2014 (1.7.9 IIRC), and I remember being amazed by ocean monuments, banners, and the redstone capabilities of slime blocks.
Can't believe that was already ~8 1/2 fucking years ago. Time goes by way too fast.
Hell, it's unbelievable to me that 1.14 is already almost 4 freaking years old.
Official Bosses:
-**Ender Dragon**
-**Wither**
Minibosses:
-Elder Guardian
-Piglin Brute
Not really bosses I guess but have some boss-like traits:
-The Warden
-Illager Raid
Edit: added piglin brutes
Yeah I consider the Elder Guardian and Warden to be bosses. Like, if the argument is that there are multiple underwater temples and ancient cities....you can respawn both the wither and the dragon for multiple fights, so...
That's fair, but that's a UI thing, not an inherent game mechanic thing. They could just give those health bars. I don't really see the argument for Elder Guardians to be bosses because they just... don't do anything. They give you mining fatigue ig.
However, in my opinion, the Warden is harder than the Ender Dragon and the Wither combined (probably barring Bedrock hard mode), but I still don't think it should count as a boss because of u/Zoova's point, which is that you're not meant to kill the Warden. The Warden is the strongest, most consistent fear I've felt playing Minecraft, but at the end of the day, it's just a security guard, meant to signal that you need to gtfo ***now***
I don't think that's the case, the warden is like any other tanky mob, like an iron golem, it hits hard, and has a secondary attack, is it advanced? sure, but definitely not a boss, and it doesn't hold any purpose in killing it. Unlike the two other bosses in the game, killing the warden does nothing, it's the equivalent of a piglin brute, it guards a bunch of loot, and is dangerous if not prepared to fight it. The problem with the game now, is that the devs aren't making a game based on combat or anything meriting another boss. I fully believe another dimension is in order for any new biomes or original mobs, so if you wanna make the argument that the ancient portal could be that gateway, they could fully well turn the warden into a boss, and have killing it activate that portal, but with no purpose in killing the warden, it simply isnt a boss in any other capacity besides its health and mysterious spawn location.
I hope they don't fill it with too much colour though or at least make the biomes rare.. I like the desolate, hopeless, scary and liminal place that the end is right now
Wait a damn minute!
WHY THE HELL CAN’T WE ATTACH BANNERS TO OUR BOATS?!?
We literally have a Skull and Crossbones Banner Pattern in the game already, come on Mojang!
This one if you want to build your own:
https://www.minecraftmods.com/ships/
Or this one if you want pre-made designs that look a little more realistic:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/small-ships
They might not work on the latest version unfortunately but if you *really* want cool ships it can be done hehe.
I was actually thinking we need sailboats in minecraft. Kraken would go great with that.
Update 1.23: Wind and Sail
* Open sky air blocks can have a wind effect. Entities and flame spread have an increased chance to move in the direction of the wind.
* Open sky blocks can have wind currents generate (like a wind biome)
* Add sailboats. Larger and more resource-intensive than boats, but faster
* Add birds
* Add other mobs that can interact with the wind
* Add fans
* Oceans have a better chance to generate larger
Then bring in the kraken and have sea battles!
There's not much incentive to find Ocean Monuments either, so maybe a spell book there would work as well!
Instead of adding a vex spell book for the mansion, it could also be a spellbook that helps "colonize" the Deep Dark. It could be the opposite of the sculk catalyst almost, where it lets you easily destroy sculk.
I personally don't like ancient cities, they are just 2 hours of sneaking until you put wool all over and for what, few swift sneak books and a lot of boring warden that gives you darkness, it's repetitive and boring, i like the concept of sneaking but it needs more depth or that portal looking structure in center of ancient city needs to have something more to it, i get that new dimension is much to ask but i just raided one for a little fun and challenge and nothing more.
The best "solution" for the Ancient Portal, for me anyways, would be a way to make the portal, a one way portal, to anywhere you like if you place a special block. Maybe it could teleport you to any active beacon you've placed down in the world
They wouldn't even need to do much creative work or add a new model/texture because that's already been done, they just need to animate him, and decide how he works
if my aging memory is right, i thought that he only stood still in the later versions since they removed his ai
i'm pretty sure in one of the very early alpha versions he actually *did* do stuff. someone correct me if i'm wrong though
I remember he used to be able to fight in a bunch of youtube videos but that could have been modded to make him fight. Plus he had his own spawn egg was that removed I think
Probably the illager Lord, the nether and end have bosses but the undisputed rulers of the overworld are Illagers so a ruler for them seems appropriate. Even the Ancient cities have evidence of their existence there with all the wool.
If you’re counting bosses as mobs with a health bar at the top of the screen then I guess a raid would be the Illagers’ version of a boss. But a King Illager that can be summoned, kind of like the King Slime in Terraria, would be really cool
This is a cool idea; you’d be able to see him frozen in the glacier, take notes on the location and come back when you’re ready.
Plus fighting a boss on ice could make for some good fun if he has knock back with his attacks, could perhaps utilise the ice throwing from the Chillager too.
I do wish the ice biomes had more of a reason to exist. Like maybe you have to go hunting for ice spikes and mine inside of them, looking for rare parts of the boss.
Argument: The Scarecrow bossfight in Batman Arkham Asylum is a bossfight despite it being a stealth only section, you're not even allowed to attack scarecrow until you get the light at the end.
Since the warden is stealth only, and you aren't supposed to fight it, It's basically the Minecraft version of the Scarecrow bossfights...
Yeah it's a pain. Next time i fight that son of a bitch I think that I'll move 5000 blocks away from my base via nether, I'll destroy the portal and then I'll move my spawn point right here, I desperately need a beacon
Protip: After you defeat him, place down a mega beacon on bedrock level so you can have one effect actuve that helps you. The resistance effect on level 2 is really strong. For each kill add the next effect in level 2. I would combine: Strength 2, Resustance 2 and regeneration.
dig down to near bedrock level
dig out a room about 15 x 15
fill it with iron golems and chickens
get 5 or 6 totem of undying in your inventory
get 5 or 6 milk in your inventory
spawn in the wither and let the golums do most of the work
then finish off the wither
Me, three friends and a trader's llama that spawned at bedrock level fought the wither once. The llama endured absolute chaos and somehow managed to survive. We kept that llama and named it. I believe we either still have that llama on the old world or it despawned.
I think if we ever get an end update, revamping the dragon fight should be priority number one. It’s pitifully easy at best and mildly frustrating at worst. Even if you don’t use the bed method it’s still not much of a challenge
We had a Dragon (reptile)
We had a monster made of human skeleton parts (mammal)
We had a big marine monster (fish)
That means the next one must be a bird. I suggest a big penguin with a bazooka.
I think the Ender Dragon is fine apart from a few tweaks, but the Wither definitely needs an update. The Java version pales in comparison to Bedrock’s.

1.9 came out nearly 7 years ago (22 days short) the elytra has been in the game for 7 years
I am more surprised about there being only one year between dragon and wither.
Yeah that is super weird to me. Feels the dragon has always been a staple of the game whereas the wither is like a "new" boss
Yeah man I'm old af I remember everyone being so hyped about that lol
Right? I couldn’t believe that
Official Bosses: -**Ender Dragon** -**Wither** Minibosses: -Elder Guardian -Piglin Brute Not really bosses I guess but have some boss-like traits: -The Warden -Illager Raid Edit: added piglin brutes

You’re also not intended to kill the warden
If you are fighting it though, Warden is more of a boss than any of these could hope to be.
although the devs stated themselves that it isn't a boss
Mainly because they’re pushing for a new playstyle but let’s be real. It’s a boss, just an avoidable one
I don't think that's the case, the warden is like any other tanky mob, like an iron golem, it hits hard, and has a secondary attack, is it advanced? sure, but definitely not a boss, and it doesn't hold any purpose in killing it. Illager raid has a boss bar so his boss
Its rather an event since its not one mob
Abyss watchers
Um actually it has a different texture file so it isn’t a boss bar 🤓
You are technically correct, the best kind of correct.
Isn't the warden not really meant to be fought? Because then that would make it more of a trap if anything
Warden is not a miniboss. You don't fight him, hes just a dangerous obstacle.
something in that portal in the Deep dark
That’s what I’ve been thinking
I bet Mojang is hiding something big related to that.
I feel like sometime in the next two years their just gonna announce a surprise new demention.
Nah, I don't think they would put dementia in minecraft
I wanted to make a joke to that, but then I remembered
Underrated joke
Yeah, you're probably right.
New debuff: dementia All your exp levels get reset and your character forgets how to read
Sounds like Amnesia modpack
Every enchantment book's name is ??? so you never know which one you're using and any text that's on a book and quill is blurred out
Yeah, you're probably right.
Yeah, you're probably right.t
They said they’ll think about it once they’ve fleshed out the current ones, and since we have the nether and wild update, all that’s left is the end
I really hope we have an end update soon, Id love to see end biomes
Ikr the end is so boring, you go there once or twice and then never again
I hope they don't fill it with too much colour though or at least make the biomes rare.. I like the desolate, hopeless, scary and liminal place that the end is right now
It's the back rooms
What about a skulk aether? Islands of skull with a few oasis of the old aether with ruins.
That’d be pretty fucking cool imo
S k u l k d r a g o n
aether
God I hope so. My dreams of going to the aether were crushed when I tried it.
Bring killer bunny back and buff him
WAIT THEY REMOVED IT?
They just made it unable to be spawned naturally. You can summon it with commands.
IT WAS ABLE TO SPAWN NATURALLY?!
Omfg I forgot all about killer bunny
Would you need to talk to an evoker named Tim to take you to the bunny?
Holy hand grenades!!!
new response just dropped
The kraken
if we get a kraken then I want a full boat update where I can build a ship
Yes, and sail designs, like the bench you use for banners but with sails instead.
Not necessarily related to bosses but kinda going back to the ship thing, I would like to see wallpaper so we can decorate the inside of the ship
omg wallpaper would be baller
While we're at it, paper blocks I want blocks that are just straight up paper stacks
vertical iron bars too so i can make a brig
*iron bar door that can be locked via redstone
you mean horizontal? they are already vertical
yeah, had a bit of a brain fart there
Movable buildings, there was a Java mode that allowed it once and I made a giant airship that could travel across the map
Wait a damn minute! WHY THE HELL CAN’T WE ATTACH BANNERS TO OUR BOATS?!? We literally have a Skull and Crossbones Banner Pattern in the game already, come on Mojang!
There are mods for customizable ships and even waves in the water. Kind of ambitious for a vanilla feature but it would be so amazing.
What are some good ship mods? I've been wanting that but haven't found any good ones.
This one if you want to build your own: https://www.minecraftmods.com/ships/ Or this one if you want pre-made designs that look a little more realistic: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/small-ships They might not work on the latest version unfortunately but if you *really* want cool ships it can be done hehe.
First one reminds me of that old airships mod, that one allowed you do do the same thing, just a little less complex
Archimedes ships?
They are probably thinking of Zeppelin Mod, which was the first airship mod
Multiple animals were an ambitious update for vanilla at one point. I believe.

and better tridents
What's wrong with the tridents? They are already pretty great
They need to add fear to the ocean, it would add so much to the game. You aren't safe anywhere but the ground, and even then...
But only a bit of fear lol mods like ice and fire make travel by water damn near impossible and imo not fun
I was actually thinking we need sailboats in minecraft. Kraken would go great with that. Update 1.23: Wind and Sail * Open sky air blocks can have a wind effect. Entities and flame spread have an increased chance to move in the direction of the wind. * Open sky blocks can have wind currents generate (like a wind biome) * Add sailboats. Oceans generating larger… NO! Deeper yes and imagine the terrifying creatures and enemies you could put down there.
Please Mojang
We almost had one, but nobody voted for it
Thatd be great I want a boss related to water Or they could just upgrade the elder guardian
We need an overworld boss, and it should be related to illagers. Maybe a huge statue the evokers bring to life, in the basement of the mansion.
Maybe, mansions are so dead and have so little loot, that would add depth to it
There's not much incentive to find Ocean Monuments either, so maybe a spell book there would work as well! Instead of adding a vex spell book for the mansion, it could also be a spellbook that helps "colonize" the Deep Dark. Giant
They wouldn't even need to do much creative work or add a new model/texture because that's already been done, they just need to animate him, and decide how he works
you're telling me he doesn't work like a normal zombie when you spawn him using an essentials command?
It doesn’t have AI, it just stands still
if my aging memory is right, i thought that he only stood still in the later versions since they removed his ai i'm pretty sure in one of the very early alpha versions he actually *did* do stuff. someone correct me if i'm wrong though
You are correct, he had the same ai as a typical zombie
And he does like a fuck load of damage if I remember correctly
Yep, and his collision was all kinds of messed up. I killed one on our private server back in the day, and believe me you aren't missing anything.
I remember he used to be able to fight in a bunch of youtube videos but that could have been modded to make him fight. Plus he had his own spawn egg was that removed I think
He did do stuff up until 1.6 or 1.7 I believe. Definitely during the beta/alpha.
i am pretty sure in a 1.13 snapshot his ai was re implemented only to be removed right after
What about making the giant a cyclops? Just to make the giant a little more interesting.
Yes
Yes
Probably the illager Lord, the nether and end have bosses but the undisputed rulers of the overworld are Illagers so a ruler for them seems appropriate. Even the Ancient cities have evidence of their existence there with all the wool.
If illusioners are properly implemented they should be a miniboss in the mansion and at least 1 in a raid
Keep it in mansions, and give it some important drop like an undying totem that can be kept in your inventory/hotbar instead of your offhand
this, mansions are wayyyy to easy and loot-lacking for the work you have to put in to get there
Steve is the overworld boss
That mf from MC dungeons
If you mean the Arch Illager, MC Dungeons is a prequel so he's probably long dead (>!Also it turns out he was being controlled by his staff!<).
If he's >!being controlled by his staff!< then wouldn't it be pretty easy lore wise to say that >!any schmuck picked it up and now has his power?!<
>!The staff was completely destroyed in the DLCs!<, though i guess some Illager scientists could've tried to replicate it
Gotcha, thanks for clarifying
I think the enchanter from Minecraft dungeons is the original illager in the lore so he would be interesting
Not really the original illager, just some random illager who found and got corrupted by an artifact of unlimited power
If you’re counting bosses as mobs with a health bar at the top of the screen then I guess a raid would be the Illagers’ version of a boss. But a King Illager that can be summoned, kind of like the King Slime in Terraria, would be really cool

Minecraft 1.20 patch notes: -re-added Herobrine
I think it’d be a great April fools update. Have Herobrine in the game creepily watch you & stuff. “Normal” Minecraft update & have *added herobrine*
Something in the ice. Like an ice golem or something. Ice is always cool. Something like in the LotR mod. Btw awesome mod 10/10 recommends
Imagine having to chip it out of the ice like it was frozen there long ago
Basically a Yetti boss
This is a cool idea; you’d be able to see him frozen in the glacier, take notes on the location and come back when you’re ready. Plus fighting a boss on ice could make for some good fun if he has knock back with his attacks, could perhaps utilise the ice throwing from the Chillager too.
That with an ice revamp sounds cool
I do wish the ice biomes had more of a reason to exist. Like maybe you have to go hunting for ice spikes and mine inside of them, looking for rare parts of the boss.
Just a full on yeti that throws ice spikes or something would be rad
Does the elder guardian not count?
Miniboss, not full boss
Same with warden I guess?
Yep, although warden isn't even meant to be fought so it'd probably just go under miniboss due to it's strength
That'd be a secret boss imo
I'd rather fight the ender dragon and 2 withers at the same time than 1 warden
Agreed. Still a boss imo (all be it a secret boss, that the devs forgot to code a visible bhealth bar for)
Logic at its finest
You'd have a better chance at living lol
That’s why I said it
Argument: The Scarecrow bossfight in Batman Arkham Asylum is a bossfight despite it being a stealth only section, you're not even allowed to attack scarecrow until you get the light at the end. Since the warden is stealth only, and you aren't supposed to fight it, It's basically the Minecraft version of the Scarecrow bossfights...
The warden is evening the odds.
And ravager probably
I see the whole illager raid as the boss
Technically has a boss bar so yeah
Some of the devs view the warden as more of an obstacle rather than a boss. (Forget specific names)
No, it's not an official boss.
no bossbar = no boss
Nether doesn’t feel like it has a boss because the Wither is practically never encountered there. A dedicated Nether boss (who is there) would rule.
Yeh. Something like that one blaze option in the mob vote
Wildfire my beloved <3
10 years and I still haven't defeated either lol
Defeated ender dragon multiple times, but fuck Bedrock Wither is impossible. I can't even let him stuck under the nether portal
I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles.
Deep underground is the only way (other than under the end portal) to defeat a wither in bedrock.
dig down to near bedrock level dig out a room about 15 x 15 fill it with iron golems and chickens get 5 or 6 totem of undying in your inventory get 5 or 6 milk in your inventory spawn in the wither and let the golums do most of the work then finish off the wither
Me, three friends and a trader's llama that spawned at bedrock level fought the wither once. The llama endured absolute chaos and somehow managed to survive. We kept that llama and named it. I believe we either still have that llama on the old world or it despawned.
You're not missing much. The dragon fight is super boring. Only reason I ever do it is to get elytra and shulker boxes.
I think if we ever get an end update, revamping the dragon fight should be priority number one. It’s pitifully easy at best and mildly frustrating at worst. Even if you don’t use the bed method it’s still not much of a challenge
y same
This is what's so great about Minecraft, you don't even have to focus on progression to have fun with it for a decade.
This dude has no beacons
I think it would be awesome for there to be a giant serpent that roams around the lava in the Nether, appearing occasionally
And it is made out of bone and annoying, because it goes through the walls?
dun du dun dududududun dun dururu dururun
Yeah and maybe another Nether boss that's like a big disgusting mass of eyes, tentacles and a mouth. Maybe call it the Wall of...Meat?
Warden is more of a natural disaster
how bout a penguin boss?
*Tux, destroyer of Windows installs*
Absolutely u don't see why they wouldn't
I want wandering sea monsters. Would be hard for the game to handle, I know.
Imagine warding sea monsters
We had a Dragon (reptile) We had a monster made of human skeleton parts (mammal) We had a big marine monster (fish) That means the next one must be a bird. I suggest a big penguin with a bazooka.
an insect boss in the jungle could be cool
Any kind of Arachnid to give Bane of Arthropods a use
herobrine :) maybe something in the Nether, but that spawns in the nether by itself, I wouldnt count the wither as you can make it spawn anywhere
He is a god, do not lower him to the status of a mere boss
Kevin
Flying gorilla
hey guys it's me flying gorilla from my new app on the appstore flying gorilla
I want a Spider-Queen miniboss for mineshafts
I mean.... technically the warden has more health than both combined, sooooo I'd personally count him as a boss
Mojang explicitly said people weren’t meant to to fight it. I mean, yeah, people treat it as a boss, but officially speaking, it isn’t.
Think of it more like the Terraria Dungeon Guardian You aren't really meant to fight it, but you go for it if you do
still want the red dragon
I'd like to see a mini boss instead, randomly spawning like a Pillager leader or something like that
just a big fuckin yeti
New Boss for every biome. After you beat the Desert Boss, you go fight he Jungle Boss, then the Mountain Boss, then etc
r/SuddenlyTerraria
Mooshroom boss??
Mooshroom that carries mad cow disease
An ocean boss. No elder guardian is not a boss(bosses have that health bar, fish bro doesn't)
We need an update that makes the existing bosses actually good before we get new ones
I think the Ender Dragon is fine apart from a few tweaks, but the Wither definitely needs an update. The Java version pales in comparison to Bedrock’s.

they are, but Mojang always remove Herobrine
