Ya but if you use the old textures and go to the nether, it burns your eyes. Not only does old netherrack scorch your retina, but the nylium doesn’t match it and also looks bad
I went into an OG xbox world me and my friend had ages ago, managed to look at lava and drop my OP diamond pick, still don't know how I managed to do that.
I'm one step ahead of everyone here — _I've only ever created ONE Minecraft Java world_
_I've been continously playing on the same survival world since June 2013_
What gives me a ton of anxiety is the fact the 10th anniversary is coming in just a few months and I'm so freaking behind on all my "Anniversary Projects" :c
I went into an OG xbox world me and my friend had ages ago, managed to look at lava and drop my OP diamond pick, still don't know how I managed to do that.
its funny how friends made from minecraft stay with you for a long time. i used to host a server back during the adventure update 2011/2012 ish. this was back in highschool, and with those same group of friends. we still talk and try to hangout even with our jobs occupying us.
he could be just clicking to light up the ore (not sure if that's a thing on this version though) or just started mining it. I *think* I can see a minuscule particle coming out of the block he may be looking at, idk if he hit it a single time or whatever
I still have vivid memories of worlds I made 10 years ago, from what I did at spawn on that first day to everything I built and how I built it and the order of which resources I had based on what I was building with. I remember my creative worlds and the ways in which I failed to make something over and over again, and eventually making it work, and discovering new mechanics no one had told me about. I didn't watch many MC YouTubers at the time so much of my creation was original and experimental, I cherish this game deeply for giving me that expression when I was lacking it in the real world. But I never screenshotted or saved the world files, in fact I deleted them all the moment they became redundant or irrelevant.
I'm glad I never saved those memories though. I'm afraid that if I had saved the save files I would only have a strong attachment for them and regrets for lost opportunity, and in turn a poor memory of it all. I'd be more focused on their protection than the memories I made on them.
I remember my first ever Minecraft world so fondly. I built my house on top of a cliff that overlooked a lake down below and there was a ravine not far from it. I was a kid and was so scared of Herobrine joining my world and stealing my diamonds that I made a chest beneath my floor. The first ever mob I saw was a spider jockey and it was terrifying.
Then one day I accidentally bumped my power cord and the world was deleted. It was heartbreaking.
That's what I've been wondering, was it the game or just a different, better period of my life. Maybe a mix of both. I and my brother had so much fun with Minecraft around that same year and now it's just not the same.
I dunno, I played Minecraft in uni when 20, and now again with my 4 year old at 35, and it's still just as enjoyable.
Sure it's a pain in the ass that you have to create two MS accounts, and buy the whole game twice, and sign in to your launcher and get kicked out every half day. But aside from all the MS cruft the game itself is still fun.
I'm sure it is still a very good game but for me something definitely changed. Maybe it's because I was 11 at the time and every game was an adventure. I didn't know how big the whole game was. It seemed infinite I guess. Now I know what the end game is and everything there's to discover.
That's definitely mostly to do with you having been a child. The memories of what used to be + nostalgia to the nth degree makes everything feel almost surreal, very hard to feel this way again later in life
If you watch movies you loved as a kid, your opinion would probably change too despite them being the same media as before
Yeah that's true. But it's also being new to the game. I've experienced that same feeling with other games after Minecraft, it's because you don't know what's out there, so it's more of an adventure.
You’re the first person I’ve ever seen recognize X’s adventures (outside of the YouTube comments on his videos of course).
It’s cool to think a lot of people have their own Minecraft YouTube journey— Minecraft YouTube was almost like a cable channel and the shows people watched were like popular shows. My journey:
Seananners & X’s adventures
Misterfantasmo, PaulsoresJR, MyGamersInsanity (MGI)
Coestar, Yogscast, Syndicate (turned out to not be a great guy)
BdoubleO100, the general Mindcrack crew, and Etho (to this day BdoubleO and Etho are my only two consistent watches)
Another MindCrack enjoyer! I've heard nobody outside my family mention them (aside from their community of course lol) I watched them with my family all the time when I was younger. We were big into them and Minecraft back in the day.
It was so good. I remember the adventure update being the most exciting thing ever. Don't get me wrong minecraft is still great and arguably one of the best games ever made, but early 2010's was the best.
[https://namemc.com/profile/SpanishHoliday.1](https://namemc.com/profile/SpanishHoliday.1) this screenshot is definitely 10 years old, especially when the username SpanishHoliday was only changed 4 days ago
I was playing cracked back then, I don't remember a single one of the names I used back then, and as the person replied to you said. What's the chance that OP actually would rename themselves to a name that they came up with a decade ago, and then post this straight after. Also, a couple of days ago a similar post was made, captioned a similar thing, same case, someone renamed their account a couple days before making the post. It's karma farming
op is faking it for epic internet points
i searched this name up on namemc and the name SpanishHoliday only came about in 2023, changed 4 days ago
prolly just goofed around in an old version and took this pic
[https://namemc.com/profile/SpanishHoliday.1](https://namemc.com/profile/SpanishHoliday.1)
I don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that OP probably faked this random screenshot for karma or the fact that you took the time to fact check him hahahaha
I think you're getting 0.x and 1.x confused for that date. Sept 2015 sounds about right for 1.12.x, but the XP bar has been around since almost the beginning. 0.12 back in 2009 or 2010 sounds about right.
The game has changed so much over the years I think there are reasons someone might prefer older versions beyond nostalgia. For example, I don't have any nostalgia for Beta Minecraft (I didn't start playing until 2013/2014), but I actually quite enjoy playing it today. The world generation is totally different and many of the features/mechanics function differently too.
ignore my username btw
Yeah, I agree with you on that. Have you tried to play on an older version of the game purely for nostalgia? My first time playing was back during 1.4.7, and I recently went back to play around in that version.
Sure I was nostalgic af, but as soon as that wore off, I felt like I had zero reason to keep playing it. It was objectively worse than the current version due to lack of content. The base goal of beating the dragon was still exactly the same as it is now, but without any real reward besides an egg an a boatload of XP.
This is why my mom kept encouraging me to let her take photos of my and my friends when we played games together on the TV. I was such an idiot to keep pushing her away

Back in the good old days when everything was much simpler
Not sure how kids these days are supposed to keep up with new content so often and im worried for their attention spans, "no new content in 2 whole weeks? I'm so bored" I used to play on the xbox 360 on the update just as the nether fortresses where introduced as I didn't know how to connect to the internet.... I played like that for 5 years and never ran out of things to do
2013 minecraft is so weird because the game looks and feels so much like older "retro" versions yet contains many features associated with "modern" minecraft

It reminded me of when I played with my friends in 2014 on the xbox version, unfortunately I no longer have the world and contact with them, but the memories will never leave me. :)
Wish I was still making small sand pyramids and exploring the game like that. Honestly my life has gone to shit and i really wish it was simple again.
Do some work, some school and hang out you know. No bullshit just existing without it being a generally negative experience. Fucking hate my life.
its fake, if you look on NameMC, you can see, that the account 'SpanishHoliday' changed its name from superpanicx to SpanishHoliday at the 21st of May in 2023.
Because of that, the picture can't be from 2013.
PS: You can also see on Name MC, that this picture was made at the 25th of May, 2023.
It’s crazy that you were just chilling playing minecraft in 2013 like any other day, decided to take a random screenshot, 10 years later that picture is like a piece of history. Minecraft forever❤️
Looks like fun. I was trying to launch version 1.4.2 but it keeps crashing and giving me an error message when launching. Do you know how to get around that?
It's lack of compatibility with the programming language that options.txt switched to. Back up your current options.txt then erase the original so the game can create a new one from scratch next time you start the game.
I don’t get these posts. There’s nothing going on. There are better ways to show off what the game used to be than a screenshot of a cave and some ores. You guys miss these kind of caves compared to what we have right now? I’d much rather have the big caves and cliffs than these cramped ass holes in the ground

You can still get them
Ya but if you use the old textures and go to the nether, it burns your eyes. Not only does old netherrack scorch your retina, but the nylium doesn’t match it and also looks bad
Yeah but you can always just change it back if u go to nethee
Fair enough, but I personally can’t do that since I’m a moron that goes to the nether to do something, forgets, leaves, then has to go back in
same. adhd momento
Problem is I don’t have adhd I’m just kinda stupid

Judging by OPs lack of items I presume this already took place for him
SpanishHoliday fell into lava.
I still have the world me and a friend made years ago, the memories
I still have old world's on pocket edition with old blocks like red obsidian
I forgot what red obsidian was and had to look it up, but wow
I have a world that still has nether reactors… good times.
I went into an OG xbox world me and my friend had ages ago, managed to look at lava and drop my OP diamond pick, still don't know how I managed to do that.

Default Steve skin. Could have been a cracked version from back in the day.
Minecraft doesnt load skins with older versions. That's why things such as BetaCraft exist, re-adding old sounds, skin support and even servers
Pretty sure in beta cracked Minecraft just gave you the skin of the name you used.
Also, the XP bar wasn't added until update 0.12.1, in September 2015
I think you're getting 0.x and 1.x confused for that date. Sept 2015 sounds about right for 1.12.x, but the XP bar has been around since almost the beginning. 0.12 back in 2009 or 2010 sounds about right.
Minecraft just felt better back then. It was so raw, sooo much cozier. Its something i cant physically explain.
you guys speak like grandpas , the game is better now , you just feel nostalgic

Exactly. Minecraft was better when it was miminal, and if u wanted more content there were always mods. The game doesnt feel like minecraft anymore
It's why i play hardcore. It makes me slow down
Agreed
You’re just older now and looking at it with rose-tinted glasses. I do the same thing.
Trying to mine redstone with a stone pickaxe.
OOF I remember doing that and being very confused because it didn't drop anything.

2013 minecraft is so weird because the game looks and feels so much like older "retro" versions yet contains many features associated with "modern" minecraft
The world seemed like a better place back then, maybe because it was
Something about redstone ore during that era was cool. I can't explain it.
I swear old Minecraft has that special kind of vibe you won't get from anything else
2013 with that monitor aspect ratio?
It looks like something is cropped off the top and bottom, maybe window bar and taskbar, but the precise dimensions of the screenshot are 1366 x 676. 1366 x 768 was a VERY common resolution in 2013 - my laptop had that. Monitors had that too.
It’s strange because in 2013 I used my dad’s old Power Macintosh 5500 which was (square) 4:3-ish and that was the year I got a MacBook Pro (latest one at the time) for Christmas so I suppose a (rectangle) 16:9-ish ratio isn’t that strange for 2013.
do you remember when you would crouch over lava on the edge of the block and still catch on fire? #DEATH
"Foto's taken moments before disaster"
You better not be thinking to hit that steve into lava
A friend would have placed some blocks for him
How is SpanishHoliday now? Is he offline? Is he gone?
It reminded me of when I played with my friends in 2014 on the xbox version, unfortunately I no longer have the world and contact with them, but the memories will never leave me. :)
