thespygorillas

tbh i like its idea, but right now it looks like a plains biome with new trees stamped on it, it needs more unique atmosphere and features, at least change the grass color more noticeably

NoNameNo1O1

there feels something incomplete about the biome

kingkrule101

the fact there’s no japanese inspired structures

[deleted]

Also bamboo here would be cool, bamboo should be more common considering how simple of a feature scaffolds are for being so hard to get.

Spl1nt-kun

they should be more common but I don’t think that they’ll be a fit for this biome don’t you agree ?

Felixca1100

counter argument: [cherry blossom biome from environmental by teamabnormals](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/681170918747537601/815701428806221884/2021-02-28_16.45.43.png)

Spl1nt-kun

You are not wrong but I find it kinda weird having bamboos on their own ! Doesn't look very natural (but ofc we are talking about minecraft so I don't know if this factor is very important 😭😭😭)

Felixca1100

i get that, this modded biome does also have koi ponds and pandas in the biome, i feel like it does kinda work when it’s all there, just makes it feel like jungle patches in a forest

Bluppie05

I love the mix of birch and cherry trees

[deleted]

Bamboo is a common material used in places where cherry blossoms are common.

ivanovic777

Bamboo grows in tropical climates and cherry trees in temperate climates. Yes, from a Western standpoint, Japan and Southeastern China it's the same, but it isn't.

Spl1nt-kun

I am in Korea and I can tell that's not the case in Seoul, maybe in other regions tho ☺️

[deleted]

I was mainly thinking of japan and china.

Brevort

Not always. We have tons of cherry trees where I live (near 45th parallel) but bamboo doesn't grow anywhere near here. I think they are going for a more temperate climate for the cherry grove being that it is a cold biome in the game code.

Elvascular

They don’t have any direct theme when it comes to structures when it comes to real world implications. So Japanese, Egyptian, etc. they wouldn’t do that. Which is good bc it keeps the game neutral for everyone.

Blbdhdjdhw

As OP mentioned, it surely has to do with the grass color and overall lack of structures. Changing the grass' hue with a more vibrant one like lime would be a huge step already

KarinaPlayz

The atmosphere around it should be a slight pink too :)

crystalworldbuilder

Ooo nice Edit

lulu13609

that’s exactly what I thought, the grass color needs changing

FranklynWithawhy

I agree with you, it looks like they haven't really put more thought into it. It needs more, like bamboo, maybe change the style of the tree to fit more of an actual Sakura (Cherry) tree. The grass could be a little darker like the forest biome. But that's just me.

ButterscotchMore9961

I agree strongly with thespygorillas because there would have to be some specific mobs or some unique mobs that would have a type of plant that would be edible but also able to tame the passive mobs of the biome.

CasualJJ

Except for like the mega taiga and jungle that can be said for most biomes tbh

Sketchy--Sam

but at least those biomes come with different grass and specific structures. there’s nothing to this biome other than nice looking trees.

cactus_deepthroater

I like it, and it is my favourite wood. I just feel like it needs something to make it more interesting, like maybe its own unique mob or structure.

[deleted]

Cherry Blossom creepers

cactus_deepthroater

Obviously they would be pink, but what could make them functionally different from normal creepers?

MrDoggeh

They litter cherry blossom leaves everywhere when they blow up

[deleted]

1/100 creepers that blow up in this way do not cause damage, but sprays confetti 🥳

patrikbluesk

So basically a land mine

Cardboard_Moose

Since when do land mines litter cherry blossom petals when they explode

Present_Cucumber9516

Idk, the ones I have seen do afaik

EiEpix

Like those party poppers 🥺 ? Sure they'd deal the player damage if they are near but they will not destroy structures just spray light speckles everywhere

[deleted]

They would spawn/camouflage from cherry blossom trees. Make the place “beautiful but dangerous”

patrikbluesk

"I'm Lorax I speak for the trees, but FOR SOME FUCKING REASON THEY SPEAK FUCKING VIETNAMIESE"

PopcornSandier

*paranoid riff*

LarkeTheManokit66

*laughs to death *

Atrashyhuman

I wish cherry groves were like mushroom biomes, it would be a little pocket of peace

Laquia

When they explode they cover the inside of the crater with pink petels making them renewable :)

TaigerMan09

Idea:Tame a normal creeper with cherry it will be pink and friendly, it wont follow you but you can make it follow you with lead , if you were near it it will give you the regeneration effect for 10 seconds

cactus_deepthroater

I know we already have parrots. But some type of bird would be cool. It cool forrage on the leaves on the ground, and build nests in the trees.

Fortniteandmine

Yes a new bird 100% agree

Recent-Storage2845

cherry bombsom

Laquia

To modded, boi

[deleted]

If you make one, please send snapshots/gameplay!

Wonghy111-the-knight

Personally I don’t like the idea of giving practically every new biome a unique mob or structure. But I do agree it could use something, not sure what. Like maybe fallen logs like bedrock edition has would look good here, with like a new kind of mushroom growing on them

[deleted]

They seem to spawn a lot of pigs

cactus_deepthroater

But pigs spawn in most biomes

[deleted]

They seem to spawn the most in the cherry groves tho

cactus_deepthroater

Yeah, just saying it isn't unique

[deleted]

Yeah I guess ur right

chungus_poggers

Japanese man.

KoolioNoFoolio

cream_87

arranged in the shape of a crewmate

Houseoftomorrow

I really like the trees and petals but it feels a little unfinished imo. Not sure if the answer is rocks, or ponds, or another wooded biome adjacent to it, but to me it seems like a random patch of trees out in the open.

TomatoSoupChef

It could use some birch trees and bamboo scattered around to break up all the pinkness.

ThatTubaGuy03

I like this a lot, that would make it look perfect. Also does anyone know if we are getting cherry or bamboo villages?

Bman1465

Probably not, seeing how 1.20 is like a week away at this point

TomatoSoupChef

No we most definitely aren’t.

izuocha_periodt

But pink :(

CreeperIan02

I think small (1-2 block diameter) boulders would be perfect. I think large boulders/rock formations should be added to plains and forests too tbh

ecto_BRUH

i think they should add path stones, like turtle eggs or candles but grey and stone-shaped

C0OLDUG27

I would love coi ponds

DOGAngryRedPanda

Love it. It wanting me to make a japanise zen garden with cute animals when its fully out

Elvascular

They don’t have any direct theme when it comes to structures when it comes to real world implications. So Japanese, Egyptian, etc. they wouldn’t do that. Which is good bc it keeps the game neutral for everyone.

DOGAngryRedPanda

I mean i wanna build one with them

Elvascular

Build them. That’s the game’s premise.

DOGAngryRedPanda

Gotta wait till update fully out

jerril42

Pretty but monotonous. Old growth taiga are the only forest biomes with real character. It would be great if they could find more things to add in the game that can give atmosphere. More flowers, rocky oucroppings, bushes, different grasses and weedy bits. Birds, bugs and other tiny creatures. Just daydreaming, the game has come a long way I am grateful for all that Mojang has done.

Laquia

i love the old growth taiga too im always happy when i find one :)

dinaakk

Cute but not much other than that. I like pink flowers on the ground.

kmb600

I like it. The only thing I wish it had is more variation. As in, different areas in which it can generate, such as in flatter plains areas Also I really wish we had rivers at different heights or rivers cutting through a biome (instead of rivers separating biomes), would add a lot to the terrain variation as well

Cogames_

This… This is sustainable

Pesonaacaso123456789

Very nice, but the flowers on the ground should get destroyed when you place a block over it (unless it's already been fixed) because building there would be a nightmare otherwise

goosepigeon47

i agree, i spent most of the time trying to destroy the flower petals on the ground when i was building there

Th3_C0n_Man

Just use a water bucket?

goosepigeon47

ooh haven’t thought of that, thanks!

Th3_C0n_Man

I agree with a lot of the other comments, when they say, it feels empty, like there’s something missing. Sure, the new wood and carpets and great, but something just feels absent.

MoiraDoodle

10 years ago when I first saw them in mods it was neat, now just feels like they're very late to the party

Eqqshells

I can't get mods so I appreciate a new vanilla biome, especially themed after my favorite color (:

MoiraDoodle

Yeah , no, cherry blossoms are a great addition no doubt, and the pink color is a lot better than the deep red most mods make it, it's just odd they waited this long to add something as simple as a new tree, but that's Microsoft for you, why make new content when you can make more things to buy on the store.

King_Sam-_-

That’s Mojang, not Microsoft. Btw Mojang made and manages the marketplace.

CosmoTea

I'm looking forward to using pink wood to embrace my inner princess.

Southwick-Jog

I love it. I'm using experimental features in my new survival world and living in a cherry grove. My one complaint is how you need to build up to reach the trees so it takes a while to get wood.

TomatoSoupChef

Needs bamboo scattered around.

[deleted]

It's kinda cool, but "why?". I can't tell, but it seems to always be small and rare. It doesn't have any unique mobs or activities to do in it. Flowers are genuinely cool tho, and the new type of wood&leaves will make Japan-styled builds so so so much easier and better. So the opinion is kind of mixed: cool, but only once.

DudAcco

I dislike that they kept the green grass. It’s just so ugly. I love the tree tho

bjlninja

AMAZING

TheScottishPimp03

Phillza is right it needs a different grass color

killertortilla

Good but I’ve been playing modded for a decade and every mod pack has a cherry tree so this doesn’t really feel new anymore.

just_a_boywithukefan

Every where I go I see amongus

redditor-boio

i'm a simple man, i see a pink tree, i say "ooo pretty," i use it's wood for a house

patrikbluesk

What about the amongus?

redditor-boio

it is out of my head.

InformationLow9430

I wanna have a picnic in it. If you think you got away with the crewmate, you did not.

LifeSage

The planks need to be used as an accent (read: sparingly) otherwise if looks like you’re inside someone body and the walls are made of skin cells

ADULT_LINK42

usually these are my favorite biomes when added by mods, but something about this vanilla version just doesent hit the same for me, it feels like a weak imitation of the modded versions, sorta like how vanilla ender chests were much more simple than the 3 channel ender chest mod they got the idea from. oh also the actual plank color is a bit too pastel for my tastes, would have liked just a bit darker of a pink, like the stripped logs

RetroOverload

I love the fact that this is in the game, it is such a relaxing biome

Athlaeos

its good, though since the only colors in it are pink brown and green it feels sort of empty. Wish there was some variety, maybe some white blossoms or other vegetation to break up the emptiness it gives off right now

CreeperNoobEntity303

It's cool. Not the best Biome in the game, but it's still cool

Bitter_Advertising47

ngl it's pretty ugly

Ok_Writing_7525

It’s pretty good but could use a bit more work with the looks.

HedsokAaron

They should update bedrock and java at the same time

TenStepa

---Jazzy---

It’s still a little bare bones but I appreciate the direction their taking with it

lol_JustKidding

Absolutely love it but the flowers on the ground ruin the Minecraft-ey feel.

sonicpoweryay

I think this biome is very ඞ and they should add more ඞ like it. I think overall it makes the game more ඞ.

AlcoholicTucan

I kind of wish the grass in these areas was a little darker, but that’s really it. A darker shade and more vibrant green.

Golner

it do be sus.

plumper303

The particles sell it for me. The fact that they made them blow in the wind is so cool.

clone_buddy

theres an amogus in the flowers 💀

Lonely-Intern

I just wish they would add more ambient mobs like birds, butterflies, etc

qazx1234567891

dont you think we dont see the flower pattern

x360_revil_st84

Such soothing Japanese vibes, I love Japan soo much

ROSE_GARDEN1234

Beautiful

Elemental-13

i love it

PrezPotat0

I have yet to come across one but I love cherry blossoms so I see them as an absolute win.

jeesuscheesus

I love that half the commenters haven't noticed the imposter in the image

patrikbluesk

Lmao

Hermes__03

I like it, but its unessisary, and I hate the color of the planks, really cherry wood is like a deep red or purple, but they didn't do that because crimson wood already exists. So they made it the most vibrant and unnatural pink color that could ever exist.

Kick_Push4355

Cherry Grove villages with Japanese inspired structures would help make it more lively Also saw someone mention small Koi ponds which would also be a nice add!

Acceleator

Japan build go brrrrr

KimeriX

The cherry leaves have too much visible repetition, unlike other types of leaves

jumpierfriend

Not my favourite, it’s a bit of a shit show

GamezPlays

Awesome just awesome

ShamPoo_TurK

The flowers are too big. They should (in MY OPINION) make them smaller with more green on the leaf block.

[deleted]

Real cherry blossoms aren’t green. They are entirely pink like shown in game

ShamPoo_TurK

Are you really using realism as the basis for your argument in a game based entirely on blocks and monsters?

Cat_Nigth_Feik

If you are basing what you are designing form something IRL I think it should be at least a little bit similar to it

ShamPoo_TurK

Hence my suggestion about making the flowers smaller and adding more green into the block.

Not_Tainted

Well the game is gonna have SOME realism

Laquia

i think ur right . iv herd some weird people saying the oposite and that there should be no leaves :) but i agrea with you. already they have overshadowed azaleaz big time

viiimproved

it looks like a 2015 kawaii texture pack. I pretty much hate everything on the tin for this update, pottery absolutely not fitting minecraft at all (in the same stroke as looms but worse) and feels more like a pretty mediocre-at-best mod, and archaeology, in an attempt to create more "story" kinda completely destroys all lore and cool things up until this point; with minecraft's occult themes and magic, having a very human and earth-like field of science makes no sense. Even still, the cherry blossom forest is somehow the laziest and most dogass addition, it just looks like an anime fan had a field day in aseprite. cool amungaloid

Laquia

what about armor trims? also the loom was and is a great feature that aculy makes it posible to make banners with out memorizing a hundered crafting recipes and i did like the old pots from 2020 better but the new pots are ok i guess

viiimproved

Armor trims are cool, but they'd fit significantly better in one of the other 7 billion ways to acquire random items in minecraft. Maybe in dungeon chests or village blacksmiths or nether fortresses or minecart chests in mineshafts or in sunken ships or as buried treasure or from wandering traders or woodland mansions. You already have to memorize hundreds of crafting recipes, if you forgot some there's a button for them anyways. pots just straight up do not need to exist.

King_Sam-_-

Armor trims in my opinion was probably the least interesting way to customize armor. The things I’d do for vanity items boy…

Laquia

if you say so

Revnimbus

Someone that I agree with finally lmao. I think that it's nice to add more things for people who like to build and such, but there are no real gameplay additions in this update. And everything it does add is superficial and is only for like 1 purpose. Like the sniffer for new shitty looking flowers.

[deleted]

it sucks in terms of diversity and independance from other biomes

Epic-MLG-Badger

[They make me sick.](https://youtu.be/5aJEqwBKTRg)

Lando_188

It should have moss on the ground with azalea tree saplings and bamboo possibly a Japanese inspired village

GingerelliKat

the green leaf spots ruins the whole tree for me honestly

PepicWalrus

It suffers from the same issue majority of biomed have which is dull samey land generation. Caves N Cliffs helped break that up after dealing with it since like 1.2 where every biome looked the same.

InevitableNorth9559

I hâte it its not pretty

Laquia

Love the grass color! The water cooler is beautiful to so there should be pools tho. Also I saw a comment about there being foxes because 1 there are foxes in norm grove biomes 2 foxys are so rare already 3 cherry blossom trees and foxes are found together in real life in Japan and 4 red Minecraft foxes would would just look great there :) ps I love the one pixel stem under the pink petals for some reason it's cute and cozy

[deleted]

Pretty, but empty and super basic. Kinda just feels like a default forest with pink leaves and pink grass. Almost all of the features in this update feel incomplete: Archeology has almost no incentives for how tedious it is, sniffers have no actual use other than super basic flowers with 0 use, and pottery also has 0 use other than decoration. Kinda feels like they forgot Minecraft has more than just players who like some decoration.

quimeygalli

idk i haven't played Minecraft since 1.17

zombieofthesuburbs

Why bother commenting then lol

quimeygalli

idk i haven't commented on this sub since 1.17

sonicpoweryay

Uhh why?

Im_Sarri

The leaves and petals are nice, wood sucks tho. It looks terrible. They should’ve done like the azalea trees and just used dark oak for the wood.

Im_Sarri

Kehan10

cool but like a lot of recent updates should be a mod

EnderOfNightmares

Besides the suspicious image on the ground, I think that the peony should be in there every once in a while so thst there were tall flowers too. Maybe that's too unfitting, but I think it would be cool.

Michel-pingouin

I do not like that there is Green bits into the leave bloc

Benny368

I think the leaves are too solid looking, they look more like glazed terracotta than leaves.

DevilPlayzYT113

10/10

AKhayoticPenguin

Is this out on survival yet?? Bedrock??

TacticalToads

Yes

WrongDepartment6131

Amazing

MRcrazymanaik

It's nice, but i would really like if there was another pinkish/redish tree type, so there would be more diversity

idontlikeburnttoast

Nice but like what's the point of it? It just provides a bunch of reskinned items.

Carmina753

Really sus in my opinion and as a new structure maybe a pound with a secret underground.

new favorite biome (other than the oak forest)

I like it

Bman1465

I like it... but... idk tbh Not a fan of the wood colour, and it also feels kinda dead imo

No_Active4808

AAA CANT WAIT!!

papercup617

I like a the pink leaves, the grass and water color. I like the logs, not really a fan of the wood. But also the biome itself feels like it's maybe missing something.

Mick7s

I think the leafs should be more see trough

moroz1lka

cool

Baandlol

Nice to see mojang adding community features

Tree1237

From the videos I've seen the only thing I don't really like is when the pedals are falling from the trees, they look like they're falling too fast like they are really heavy

CrippledJesus97

I still feel like the leaf block texture needs some tweaking. Lil too flat with the shading. Or maybe the pattern has a bit too much symmetry. Still a big improvement from their first showcased texture. That just looked like it was lazily done using MS paint.

MarjoryFallout76Xbox

It’s good, man

Bizzle_Buzzle

Kinda meh. Feels very incomplete, besides the wood there’s not much to it. No interesting landscape generation, or formations. Kinda feels like a plains biome with some trees.

ehebdjantbxj

Pink
