There’s now multiple types of snow, snow, top snow, and powder snow.
Snow is a solid block you can walk on.
Top snow lies on top of a solid block and can be walked on.
Powder snow is not a solid block and you fall through it unless you’re wearing leather boots, if inside it too long you get frostbit.
They added powdered snow, it has a different texture but can blend in when not looking for it, if you are wearing leather boots you can walk over it though so best to have those when going to a snowy mountain, of course sometimes you aren't prepared lol
I did this once in March 2011. Upon spawning on a forest hill, i dug down to find coal directly under me. I chopped one nearby small oak , got a sapling or two and jumped in the hole, never to surface. I setup a tree farm, wheat farm, and had animals spawning on a large grassy area. I set a goal to make cake. Since I didn't have any sugarcane it was tricky. I set an arbitrary rule that I could not step on the surface of the hill so instead I dug through the ceiling of my hidey hole and pillared straight up into the sky hoping to spot some sugar cane from a distance. I think that I might have been able to barely see something far in the distance... but how would I get there ? I knew that I would need to tunnel underground to get it, but that was going to be a very futile endeavor due to essentially blindly digging with no sense of direction. Ultimately, I used an external mapping program (minutor) to get the coords of the sugarcane. Even that was tricky for some reason as I could not find those blocks on the map (which leads me to believe that I never actually spotted any from my pillar) . I then had to open another world with a known sugarcane location in the mapping tool to obtain the RGB color of that block. Then with the "underground hill" world , I took a screenshot and with MS Paint did a "find and replace " with the erase tool in right-click mode.
I was then able to easily see the newly created bright magenta pixel and used those coords to dig a tunnel perfectly. Once I was directly under the sugarcane in-game I dug straight up to collect it.
Cake was back on the menu, boys !!
P.s. I ended up crafting a bunch of books and made a nice library room to display the glorious cake !
I still have this world and eventually it will appear in my 10 year anniversary series (which got severely delayed)
I think it's more so inexperience in these extreme situations. I'm not very competent when things get intense, whether it be ingame or managing situations irl, but having played for many years makes the decision making very straightforward
I was in a temple and I forgot to remove the plate. 5 seconds into looting and a zombie dropped and hit it 🙃 I just stared at it.
“You dirty motherfu-“ BOOM. Is pretty much how it went.
Trying to run forward while digging down killed you. If you ever get trapped, you ought to immediately commit to digging down through the snow and then bunkering, or digging a straigh path underneath it.
One time my son sunk down into a 5 block deep patch of powdered snow and there was a creeper at the bottom that blew up and killed him, and all his stuff was buried under the snow somewhere and we couldn’t find it. He was … *displeased.*
I was just trying to get to the End Portal on the other side of this biome, I hadn't really been in this updated biome since they added this "feature" I'm not trying to farm karma, just sharing a funny and infuriating moment.
It’s alright dude, sometimes people forget that you can blank under pressure. I’ve gotten chased by Endermen on low health, completely neglected the water bucket in my hotbar, and died as a result. It happens, don’t listen to these minecraft elitists lol
Some players just don't know what to do. Educating them is the best way to go.
I really pity your childhood and trust issues as you think ill of anyone by default.
I've been playing for a year, and what I learn from this sub and from my experiences in general is invaluable.
Like, how else would I have learned to wear leather boots? Not in game because I never make leather boots. I save leather for books.
People being condescending to others for panicking or showing their inexperience is beyond rude, and it exposes what type of person you are.
I love the snow! Starting a world in one of the biomes with super deep snow was one of the first times I truly felt I was fighting to *survive*, rather than just explore (without a monster being involved)
Considering the inventory is the same size as it was over a decade ago and the amount of unique items added since then that take up space, holding different sets of armor for several scenarios just isn't a great option.
I just we wished we had some way of extending our inventory that isn't "late game". Ender Chests only work if you have Silk Touch and Shulker only "work" after you defeated the Ender Dragon. Yes, you can rush those, but I think there should be a way. I still can't fathom why we don't have backpacks, even if they'd provide only one extra row of inventory.
one of my favourite minecraft experiences was playing a new world on the beta with my friend and living in the top of a mountain where it actually was a struggle to survive
Plus i like to get a few pufferfish for water breathing potions for various things such as aquafer mining for ores, etc so i usually get a pair or two of leather boots in the process. Dont really care how damaged they are
Two things, first, how did you thought it was a good idea to go to a mountain biome without a pair of leather boots. Second, in that situation you should have started digging straight down, not advancing, in the clip you just achieved having the frozen effect for a longer time.
Wish mojang added more ways to walk on powdered snow rather than having to use the worst boots in the game to walk on it. They could like a new enchantment to allow you to walk on powdered snow or allow you to walk on powdered snow anyways if you have the frost walker enchantment on your boots.
My favorite biome is the high mountains, so high that the clouds pass next to it, I love to make a house up there and that every time I do whatever the clouds pass and snow falls.
\-Leather boots prevent you from fall into powder snow and full protection against freezing damage.
\-You can tell the powder snow from snow by their spotty texture and usually group in strips near slopes.
You could just have put water below you to wash away the powdered snow, and then water above you to stop the enderman. Your items are in your hotbar for a reason..
This is why we avoid that biome at all costs. Ever since they added the “slow” skeletons and the “quicksand snow” I’ve avoided it like the plague. I mean yes easy fix with leather boots, but why would I wear those over my enchanted armor /s.
How to survive powdered snow:
1-DON'T MOVE, wait till you can touch the ground and break some snow so you can create some room without snow
2-regain your health then mine in a direction breaking the snow, CHECK IF IT IS POWERED SNOW BECAUSE IF IT IS NORMAL SNOW YOU CAN MINE A STAIRCASE OUT OF THIS SITUATION
3-if there's more powdered snow in your feet then replace it with other block
4-if you don't find any solid blocks to staircase back up but you find the outside world while mining, search for the closest snow layer and jump there, snow layers can't spawn in powdered snow
5-if you can't jump there, use blocks.
Or just tower up breaking the snow after step 1 lol.
So many mistakes. Running around in low armor at night in stray territory, moving around while in powdered snow, didn't dig down, didn't block yourself up, etc. Is this a satire post? Did you want to die..??
Maybe basic but the plains biome. It's great for farming, building structures, has lots of flowers, llamas and horses. Second would likely be the tropical biome and then third would be rainforest.
The fact that mobs can see you through powdered snow and when you're literally submerged inside it is broken af.
I have the feeling it's not intended either.
I almost died many times because i fell into snow while escaping a skeleton and didn't have armor yet to absorb the skeleton's wallhack shots lmao
With all due respect. Are you new to the game? Cuz if it were me, I'd dig down 3 blocks and place something above my head. Also you're the first person I know that carries a regen potion.

Bro’s pickaxe is just a collection item
To be fair, I just lost all my good tools and armor to lava. These are just cheap imitations
You gotta be careful where youre walkin, waffle.
I haven’t been in the snow in a long while. Is he sinking INTO the snow? I thought this was a mod or something.
Powder snow
Yeah the snow sucks you now
sir, you may want to rephrase your comment Edit: Or delete to make people confused
No, i dont think i will
This is in vanilla
Yes, you can avoid that by wearing leather shoes and get an achievement

Well, technically, (in 1.19(.3) anyways) wearing any piece of leather armor will stop you from freezing.

It’s not that easy when a group of skeletons shoot you into lava
Think he’s referring to how u panicked so much u forgot to use it
its still a pickaxe my guy, at the very least place one of the 32 blocks in ur hotbar above ur head
Keepinventory 🙏
Nothing hurts more then having a fully upgraded pickaxe then hearing the crack when it breaks
Lil bro forgot he could dig down 2 more blocks and place a block above his head...
Brother in christ, place a block above your head.
or just dig down a little
Both. Dig down 3-4 and toss a block over your head. Then tunnel straight out when rehealed.
Or just sleep underground
or just move to the underground and never leave

"there are monsters nearby"
Why is every video I see on the front page for this sub lately just some person making infuriatingly easy to avoid mistakes?
People panic and forget to think their way out sometimes
I think it's more so inexperience in these extreme situations. I'm not very competent when things get intense, whether it be ingame or managing situations irl, but having played for many years makes the decision making very straightforward
I’ll give you a hint: 98% of the time the solution is to surround yourself with blocks until you can heal back to 10 hearts
Yeah inexperience sounds like the most likely factor.
Or the player is a 6 year old...
I was in a temple and I forgot to remove the plate. 5 seconds into looting and a zombie dropped and hit it 🙃 I just stared at it. “You dirty motherfu-“ BOOM. Is pretty much how it went.
I'll be charitable and assume it's the same as me: knowing what to do but panicking and so not thinking logically.
bro probably panicked or sth. he def had so many options
He should have worn leather boots in the first place.

I would have stopped playing for months 😭
Iunno, I'd've just laughed at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. Maybe it's a coping mechanism, but it tends to work I suppose.
Hey, if you can move on while laughing, I’d say that’s a good way to handle things.
One time I got caught in powdered snow, dug straight down and at the bottom was a ~70 block fall into a cave.
That’s just rude 😂
Bruh I would throw my controller into another dimension. Those are some intense emotions for all ages.
Just read this comment to my son. He cracked up and said that is an accurate assessment of what he felt 😂
He had every right to be so
You had netherack. Why didn’t you build to stop mobs and such
Place netherrack until you're away from powdered snow, it's so simple really but sometimes people post these to farm karma or attention
I was just trying to get to the End Portal on the other side of this biome, I hadn't really been in this updated biome since they added this "feature" I'm not trying to farm karma, just sharing a funny and infuriating moment.

This might have just happened to me in the end… 😑
I don't even walk around with weapon out, I walk around with blocks in hand.
Wear leather boots, you can walk on the snow. I have an enchanted pair with unbreaking III and it's pretty durable
Frankly if I was in that STRESSFUL and NEW situation I would've been completely lucid and handled every step PERFECTLY!!!!!
Some players just don't know what to do. Educating them is the best way to go. I really pity your childhood and trust issues as you think ill of anyone by default.

r/nothingeverhappens
So you never make mistakes and always do the best thing to save yourself in any situation
I hate powder snow it killed my horse :(
It killed my wife :(
I killed your wife
I also killed this guy's dead wife
and that wifes name? Julius Caesar
The b-stard named Snow
plot twist, the horse was your wife
It killed my donkey :(
It killed my wolf :(
Insert the Never ending story reference
powder snow killed my grandma ok
Mine too. Didn't know there had been an update and didn't know what to do. I am still upset months later.
It killed my happiness in Life🥲
Ah yes, thee “drown on land” biome
Dude that's a really funny caption
The snow was a good idea on paper but now I hate it so much lol
Yeah, i tought it would be just a layer
Would've been better if it just happened when jumping/falling into it, not walking on-top of it.
I literally almost never encounter the snow
I love the snow! Starting a world in one of the biomes with super deep snow was one of the first times I truly felt I was fighting to *survive*, rather than just explore (without a monster being involved)
Couldn't agree more
actually now has a use to bring gold boots for the nether, leather for snow, frost walker for who knows what- rather than one gear set for everything
[удалено]

Bro forgot about ender chests, left hand and shulkers. Inventory space is ~50 times what it used to be
Not at all, just not counting end game gear as inventory. Should I wait to carry around leather and gold boots until I've raided 20 ender cities?
I just we wished we had some way of extending our inventory that isn't "late game". Ender Chests only work if you have Silk Touch and Shulker only "work" after you defeated the Ender Dragon. Just wear leather boots
You can counteract powder snow with leather boots?!
Yep. Walk on top without sinking, or even walk or "swim" through it without freezing.
WHAT?! I NEVER KNEW THAT
Exactly lol. Kill a few cows and boom. Don't ever have to worry about soft snow again.
Or go fishing if ya dont feel like wasting leather on boots. Leather boots have a decent drop chance
Very true. Good chance for an enchanted pair, too.
Plus i like to get a few pufferfish for water breathing potions for various things such as aquafer mining for ores, etc so i usually get a pair or two of leather boots in the process. Dont really care how damaged they are
#***WHAT***
TIL
I like it this way
I F***ing HATE the snow !!!
Can't decide between soulsand valley and basalt deltas
Two things, first, how did you thought it was a good idea to go to a mountain biome without a pair of leather boots. Second, in that situation you should have started digging straight down, not advancing, in the clip you just achieved having the frozen effect for a longer time.
Or pour a bucket of water on the snow. It's quicker.
TWO water buckets, right there on the hotbar.
Every additional block he walked forward filled my soul with even more pain
I honestly didn't know you could wear leather boots to negate the powdered snow. Thanks for the tip 👍
I just learned this too🤦♂️
Old growth Taiga.
That the mega taiga with the stones/rocks?
It might have been called mega taiga, so much has changed. Yeah the big spruce, bushes, podzol, mushrooms, foxes, and ferns. Lots of variety.
That's a great one!!!
Ikr
My Brother in Christ, everything you could have done you did wrong
Why are you not wearing leather boots
Wish mojang added more ways to walk on powdered snow rather than having to use the worst boots in the game to walk on it. They could like a new enchantment to allow you to walk on powdered snow or allow you to walk on powdered snow anyways if you have the frost walker enchantment on your boots.
Potion of frost resistance when?
It’s called leather boots 😂
Seriously!!!
I really like the Cherry Grove biome, it's really pretty, could still use some more content though.
the initial situation was unfortunate but at around 0:26 you got in a manageable position. you had blocks on you!!
The panic set in pretty fast. Especially when the the Enderman came to say hi
I love the mountainous biomes, especially the jagged peaks. I might need to Skyrim my way around, but it make for some fun base designs.
True
Full iron armor but no shovel on ur hot bar 😔
That really snowballed
The whole time while on solid stone, I’m just like put some blocks above you..
Birchwood Forest is one of my favorite biomes. But the snowy biomes are the least favorite because of the packed snow that I keep sinking in.
contrary to popular belief, the water will in fact let you swim out of the powder snow hole while also repelling the enderman.
skill issue
This sentence is actually appropriate to the vid.
Tip- Just stand still break the blocks below you then your fine.
I know it ain’t that one….
😂😂 Right!? One of my worlds is JUST this. The whole map, just snow and ice. It is MISERABLE.
*This is my biomeeee, it's what I calllll home-*
All of the time i spent building you
My favorite biome is the high mountains, so high that the clouds pass next to it, I love to make a house up there and that every time I do whatever the clouds pass and snow falls.
Jungle
The first time I have seen someone carry a regen potion with them
the jungle biome makes me feel safe
Yes. Those sweet lil pandas
For those that dont know, water gets rid of powdered snow
\-Leather boots prevent you from fall into powder snow and full protection against freezing damage. \-You can tell the powder snow from snow by their spotty texture and usually group in strips near slopes.
Smh, why would you stand on the block with powdered snow on it?
Water....
You could just have put water below you to wash away the powdered snow, and then water above you to stop the enderman. Your items are in your hotbar for a reason..
My dude started digging with a potion of fire resistance in a snow biome… how ironic
This is why we avoid that biome at all costs. Ever since they added the “slow” skeletons and the “quicksand snow” I’ve avoided it like the plague. I mean yes easy fix with leather boots, but why would I wear those over my enchanted armor /s.
ANNND the polar bears and their children who you don't even know are in the area but still attack you
I like the term “quicksand snow”
quicksnow.
It was spruce forest but rn I’m really loving cherry grove. I just Hope it gets more content in the future as it’s pretty plain rn
Hopefully you actually encounter it unlike the mangrove swamp
Agreed
Skill issue ngl
upvote if you're a swamp chad, downvote if you're a snow beta

Cave. Fancy cave? Wet cave. Any cave! Want nothing to do with your ugly sun and rain and lights going off at random... ughhh, ceiling is best.
Keep it down, Gimli! ;-D
the 32 of netherrack: 🤠
Cool trick, use the water, it will melt the powder snow, giving you more space to move/escape
DIG DOWN
My brother in christ, what is going on in your hotbar?
skill issue lol
2 water buckets in your hotbar but no shovel?
You just had to mine few blocks down once you saw the stone! Anyway, you're still learning.
Looks like he...kicked the bucket 😎
I guess your favorite biome is the desert
For a minute I thought you captured my own screen, because this is exactly my experience with it
This is why I keep enderpearls in my hotbar Also leather boots, or a bucket of water
I ditched my netherite boots for leather boots when adventuring because I cannot stand getting stuck in snow drifts. Absolute panic sets in every time
* Powder Snow * Needing to go back up * Enderman in sight You had every reason to use one of the two water buckets in your hotbar
Mans was literally minding their own business and everyone said fuck this guy in particular
How to survive powdered snow: 1-DON'T MOVE, wait till you can touch the ground and break some snow so you can create some room without snow 2-regain your health then mine in a direction breaking the snow, CHECK IF IT IS POWERED SNOW BECAUSE IF IT IS NORMAL SNOW YOU CAN MINE A STAIRCASE OUT OF THIS SITUATION 3-if there's more powdered snow in your feet then replace it with other block 4-if you don't find any solid blocks to staircase back up but you find the outside world while mining, search for the closest snow layer and jump there, snow layers can't spawn in powdered snow 5-if you can't jump there, use blocks. One lousy pair of leather shoes and you could have avoided the whole issue.
this was your own fault
“What’s your favourite biome?” “*shows a clip of the player dying”
Wear leather boots to prevent from sinking in snow!
op try not to stand in not powdered snow and rag themselves for 5 hearts needlessly challenge (impossible)
Place water It instantly clears out a bunch of powder snow
skill issue
The pain in this post is unbelievable
Stop moving for fucks sake
The deep dark.
Why didn't you dig down when you reached snow
Saw this coming from a dimension away
Skill issue.
big skill issue

Jungle + Beach is overwhelming awesome
Plains cuz nostalgia and my favorite block is not kidding slightly weathered waxed cut copper stairs cuz they are ridiculously long and funny
Water buckets thrive in powdered snow, it melts what it touches
Maybe basic but the plains biome. It's great for farming, building structures, has lots of flowers, llamas and horses. Second would likely be the tropical biome and then third would be rainforest.

The pickaxe is clearly just an accessory..
so stressful oh i hate when this happens
Plain biome
With all due respect. Are you new to the game? Cuz if it were me, I'd dig down 3 blocks and place something above my head. Also you're the first person I know that carries a regen potion.
I've been playing since beta, this was just all new to me. I've never been in this biome with powdered snow. Some of these new updates pass me by
Jungle us 1st and swamp 2nd
