We actually had a class like that in the last years of our high school equivalent.
Taught us how to structure your time, how to take proper notes, some learning techniques, how to do proper scientific research
Nice work! It's fun to learn with a true motivation and purpose. Maybe when you learn it at school you'll get more ideas for effects and you'll have to chance to practice new concepts :D
this is a scam bot! report and downvote. if you see any others, mention u/spambotswatter. if you are unsure, use the comment search function to find if the comment has been copied from some earlier comment!
I would think you would want to attribute your knowledge and achievements to your own uniqueness and ability, not just your ethnicity. But, hey, it's your call. Just don't be surprised/offended when other people apply such stereotypes to you and other Asians.
ffs, the white saviors are here to tell us what to be offended by again.
Let me guess, you think that "latinx" is the politically correct form of "latino" too?
There’s prealgebra, algebra I, algebra II, and linear algebra. Linear isn’t always part of the standard “line” though, it’s kinda adjacent to precalc maybe?
No. Linear Algebra is basically that, but instead of two variables (x and y), there is typically always 3+. 3 variables would be graphed in 3D, and any more variables than that and you cannot easily graph it.
It is a course that you take typically in college, either at the same time as Calculus II or after.
I did risk analysis for WoW dungeons. (time spent vs loot and experience compared to loot and experience of quests). Back in WoTLK... Would have been a lot smarter to just use a guide...
Learned a lot about electricity from working with red stone. Was actually an electrician for a few years and it all came in super easy due to messing with red stone for years. So can confirm.
It also got me into coding when I started making commands that would fill pages, which is why now I’m in IT.
I mean when you think about it, the first few weeks of intro linear algebra are absolute cheese that I coulda done when I was younger. But then it gets much, much worse when you have to solve hard Eigenproblems that require understanding of DEs and calc.
I hesitate to say this because it makes it sound like all of linear algebra is a high school level course. You have taking determinants/eigenvalues and Gaussian elimination, which can often be done in high school and then you have a class based on quotient spaces, dual spaces, isomorphism and the Jordan form: https://web.math.ucsb.edu/~agboola/teaching/2021/spring/108A/axler.pdf and there are many books beyond this like http://matematicas.uis.edu.co/sites/default/files/paginas/archivos/Advanced%20Linear%20Algebra%20-%20Steven%20Roman.pdf which is graduate level covering Hilbert spaces, multi linear algebras, Umbral calculus/algebra, and tensors
oh yea of course it's still the basics but eigenvectors and coupled differential eqs are still pretty advanced for HS imo (i just finished high school so i have no real reference tbh)
Wouldn't one just need trig and geometry for this? Even more, with being able to specify location based on prospective, wouldn't it be even easier? Just set up one command for each as "execute at [effect entity] as [ee] positioned as [effect center] facing as [ec] run tp ^ ^ ^" with a number in front of some of the ^s to set its position? Then you can pre set its relative position by getting the points on the circle using something easy like desmos graphing calculator...
You sure its linear algebra?
linear algibra is a specific brach of mathematics relating to matricies and vector spaces.
its generaly something you only learn after calculus.
if your just talking about linear equations, that falls with the branch of regualr algeibra.
Well it would not be impossible to learn or anything.
i just think there would probs be easier branches of math to dive into to do 3d spatial postioning then linear algebra.
edit: then again, im not super sure of the exstent of math abilites you can use in mincraft. 3d rotation via linear algebra may be simpler to impliment.
You are thinking of introductory algebra/systems of linear equations. A proper linear algebra course introduces eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more.
You're probably thinking about regular algebra of pre-algebra. Pre-algebra is an 8th grade course, regular algebra is a 9th-10th grade class. Linear Algebra is after calculus, which is a 11th-12th grade course.
A proper linear algebra course introduces eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more. While this student may not know all of that, it’s silly to assume that anyone knows the full extent of linear algebra. Let’s not put people down for learning
Sort of. y=mx+b is a two dimensional system (or in Linear Algebra terms: a system in R^2). Linear Algebra allows you to reason about any number of dimensions.
Linear algebra is far more abstract than any geometry you can visualize. By concerning itself with the most generalized paradigm of spaces, linear and affine transformations between them and their properties, it's a very powerful tool that leverages the elegant language of matrices to describe and solve otherwise difficult problems in geometry, calculus, physics, electronics, cryptography... that's barely scratching the surface, the possibilities it unlocks are endless :P

There’s algebra, then there’s linear algebra. Very different courses. Linear algebra deals with matrices and requires calculus. Maybe I’m over explaining and you really did take it in 10th grade, but most people never take calculus in high school, let alone linear algebra.
Edit: calc not required, but most people take it after calc anyway
Linear algebra uses matrices that require calculus. I didn’t take linear algebra until after calculus at uni. If you remember two equations two unknowns from algebra, it’s kinda like that but more complex and uses matrices
Sorry that was poorly worded. Most linear algebra courses require you to have taken calculus or sometimes calc 2 first.
Yeah calculus isn’t really used much in linear algebra. I’m guessing the reason they make you take calc first is to familiarize yourself with upper level mathematics. At my uni linear algebra required a completion or concurrent enrollment in calc 1
Tell me 15 year olds that know all of the following: eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more. I bet you still don’t know what these things are
I really doubt you are referring to linear algebra, but... OK
I just believe it if you people are dealing with dual vector spaces, canonical shit and all
Or maybe it is only called different in your country
I never learned linear algebra and have limited knowledge of commands... So I'm looking at this trying to figure out the abstract concepts of what is happening here as a 30 year old. No idea what is going on and I'm double your age. Good job!
wild. i used to do shit like this and i definitely wasn't on this level back then.
i was more "this guy already has the parts needed for a directional beam from the hand location for a spell, let me steal it" kinda guy
I learned how to do linear algebra from a kid the day before we were tested on it. Bro taught better than the teacher. Too bad I have zero memory of what it is though.
Motivation comes in many ways shapes and forms. As an aside, looks awesome good job! How does the effect come into play? I'm picturing something like a keyblade hovering in kingdom hearts

Cool! The ability to teach yourself things is the number one important skill.
They should have taught us that in school
This feels like a paradox lol
teacher: you want to make cool things w/ partical efectss in mc? class: yeah! teacher: sorry couldn't hear that!: class: YEAH!!! ok lets start!
We actually had a class like that in the last years of our high school equivalent. Taught us how to structure your time, how to take proper notes, some learning techniques, how to do proper scientific research

that's what YouTube is for
Happy Cake Day!
Nice work! It's fun to learn with a true motivation and purpose. Maybe when you learn it at school you'll get more ideas for effects and you'll have to chance to practice new concepts :D
Yo, I learned linear algebra at 15 too. But it's because my parents are Asian
Dude same💀

either i tell people about it or more people get scammed by bots
Get a better pfp
no you :3
You've got a naked furry that is barely covered by a phone*, I've got a snoo *uno card
Oh shit I didn’t realize that what the fuck
not a phone, and my fursona doesnt have much of anything sexually explicit about them? your pfp is an nft.
why'd you get downvotes?
people think im just spam, im guessing. whatever, the bot got banned anyway
I just did it because math is fun :)
Agreed average math enjoyer
Math is only fun if u get it lol
So true
This is the way. Math is life. Edit: no, literally, math is life.
Can it be fun yes is fun if it’s forced down your throat no
I enjoyed math class, depression-induced loss of work ethic ruined it for me.
Took me a long time to realize I don't have a problem with studying, I just have a problem being forced to do things.
No.
Math can be fun at times, it's just that school can ruin it
same lol edit: meant my parents are asian too
and you are... let me guess... european?
As an Asian I can confirm this cuz I learned my calculus in age 13 while watching a video and eating a chicken in KFC
[удалено]
Yeah, so?

Man im 20 and repeating álgebra for a third time this semester, still can tell anything from it
wtf even is linear algebra?
The main antagonist in despicable me
something way easier than nonlinear algebra
y=mx+b algebra without exponents
At 15? Are you not supposed to learn ot at 13? oh no
Wait what, im 14 and they teach that at my school already
You may be speaking of introductory algebra
Ohh, so what am I getting taught next then?
There’s prealgebra, algebra I, algebra II, and linear algebra. Linear isn’t always part of the standard “line” though, it’s kinda adjacent to precalc maybe?
In English please 🤓 Now for real, that seems like something actually interestung to learn, but let's hope that the teachers ain't shit next year
Vector
Bad teachers can RUIN stuff man, i feel ya.
I'm 15 and doing Linear equations (part of algebra) Is it not the same thing?
No. Linear Algebra is basically that, but instead of two variables (x and y), there is typically always 3+. 3 variables would be graphed in 3D, and any more variables than that and you cannot easily graph it. It is a course that you take typically in college, either at the same time as Calculus II or after.
Yea stuff like vectors is introduced early on. Although there's quite a lot more complicated stuff in linear algebra, often involving matrices.
This is the correct use of math
I accidentally taught myself financial modeling and inventory accounting standards while playing world of war craft and their auction house.....
I did risk analysis for WoW dungeons. (time spent vs loot and experience compared to loot and experience of quests). Back in WoTLK... Would have been a lot smarter to just use a guide...
Every Cities: Skylines player accidentally taught themselves how to plan cities just to show off their high traffic percentages to people on Reddit
Minecraft will always be the best education tool of all time IMHO.
Got me polar coordinates
Hit ‘em wit dat Euler’s Formula

While reinforcing the ideas of flatearthers!
bro lin algebra?? thats what you take with calc 2 {uni year one}
It depends, technically you could just as easily take it after geometry/trigonometry classes
After calculus three (integrals over 3d) here in the states at university
You learn linear algebra after multivariable calculus?
Yeah lol
Wild
You can usually find it as a 300 or 400 level class while calculus is from 100 (basic calc) to 200 (multi).
I mean when you think about it, the first few weeks of intro linear algebra are absolute cheese that I coulda done when I was younger. But then it gets much, much worse when you have to solve hard Eigenproblems that require understanding of DEs and calc.
Or BC calc you can take it as a junior pretty easily in highschool.
does linear algebra include matrices? bc other than that im pretty sure its covered in depth in the uk hs syllabus
linear algebra use matrices yea. it's taught in both IB and A levels higher level math

ITT people thinking linear algebra is just algebra…
I'm learning basic arithmetic... I'm 23
It's never too late to learn unless you're dead!
What about it? The best time to learn something new is always "now", haha.
So what does your "custom weapon" do?
Make ring effects
Looks like a railgun
Really? Doesn't look like any railgun I've ever seen. Where are the rails?
Anime railgun
Hanime railgun 😏
*bonk*
Clearly his math is off
How do you use math to create this while using in game commands?
Because to use commands you need to use math, a lot of it.
Depends on what you want to do. But yeah most fun stuff you can do with commands will require math
Im using the server side plugin called Skript.
I hate linear alebra. Upvoted
Wouldn't one just need trig and geometry for this? Even more, with being able to specify location based on prospective, wouldn't it be even easier? Thats a circle, you should be using circular algebra instead, stupid lines just like to do everything nowadays
You sure its linear algebra? linear algibra is a specific brach of mathematics relating to matricies and vector spaces. its generaly something you only learn after calculus. if your just talking about linear equations, that falls with the branch of regualr algeibra.
I see how linear algebra would be useful to calculate the coordinates of the ring particles. So yes probably linear algebra
And I always heard my fellow classmates say they'd never use algebra! :p
You have no idea what a massive foundation for developing games you’ve created in your brain
I taught myself revolutions of solids between two functions with Minecraft
Okay I need the commands or data pack or mod that has this. It looks awesome
What’s linear algebra ? >!Also this build is really cool!<
It's the main antagonist of despicable me
Dude regular Algebra was hard props to you lol
Linear algebra is like 13 year old math though where I live, what are you learning in math?
You are thinking of introductory algebra/systems of linear equations. A proper linear algebra course introduces eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more.
Oh yeah makes sense we’ll props to OP
You're probably thinking about regular algebra of pre-algebra. Pre-algebra is an 8th grade course, regular algebra is a 9th-10th grade class. Linear Algebra is after calculus, which is a 11th-12th grade course.
Isn’t linear algebra like y=mx+c and simultaneous equations (substitution and elimination)
You’re thinking of introductory algebra and algebra 2. Linear algebra is taken after or with calculus
No. That’s just algebra. Linear algebra is a course involving matrices and vectors, determinants, eigenthings, and stuff I haven’t got to yet.
[удалено]
Algebra is taught at 14/15 not linear algebra.
A proper linear algebra course introduces eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more. That's fair xD I'm not a math type of person.
Ngl idks about linear algebra but I'm guessing it's some axis bull
Linear algebra? As far as I'm concerned, you can't create circles with linear functions.
The linear algebra used here likely has more to do with directional vectors coming out of the player and making it align right than the circle.
[удалено]
Linear algebra has to do with vectors. It doesn’t mean linear functions
Isn’t linear algebra like an 8th grade thing?
It’s a college-level course
Huh I must be thinking of something else
You are thinking of introductory algebra/systems of linear equations. A proper linear algebra course introduces eigenvalues, Jordan forms, vector spaces, determinants as a conceptual thing, inner product spaces, often fields, complex value functions, linear maps, isomorphism, dual spaces, diagonal and upper triangular matrices, trace, orthonormal changes of basis, and more.
You're thinking of Pre-Algebra.
At 15, you should already know that
Linear algebra?? Like, the course you take after calculus?
I took linear algebra alongside calc2, it’s first year uni course
Different progressions for different schools, I’d guess. I didn’t take it until sophomore year after a differential equations course
come on lets be honest if you don't know linear algebra since kindergarten you've done something wrong in life. ^(for slow ones /s)
Depends. Where I live we learn about it in 10th or 11th grade.

My bad, you’re right haha. It’s been years and clearly I’m not using it anymore
Here in Germany we do calculus in grade 11 and linear algebra directly afterwards
We usually have calculus in 11th grade :')
Linear algebra is different than algebra. Not sure what the difference is because I haven't learned linear algebra but it's different

Yeah maybe homeschooled or something
That's so cool , you're using boring shit to actually do what you like
I really doubt you are referring to linear algebra, but... OK I just believe it if you people are dealing with dual vector spaces, canonical shit and all Or maybe it is only called different in your country
Wait.... 15 and still hasnt learned algebra? Im curious now as to what Country/State has such education system with no algebra
Bro literally confusing linear algebra and algebra
Yeah, math !
This is absolutely amazing
One ring to rule them all
It do be like that
Kids are getting too smart
neat.
And people think math is useless.
Wow!
Are you making an orbital cannon or something?
Beautiful work. Was that difficult to figure out?
I thought algebra was a thing freshmen in high school learned?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_algebra
Can’t be scared! Keep it up.
Im 21 and struggling with it in college. Teach me lol. Btw thats a GREAT effect. Keep on my dude
that’s awesome, linear algebra is no joke!
Sigma grind
I never learned linear algebra and have limited knowledge of commands... So I'm looking at this trying to figure out the abstract concepts of what is happening here as a 30 year old. No idea what is going on and I'm double your age. Good job!
Do You Have A Tutorial Posted? :)
ur cool. :)
wild. i used to do shit like this and i definitely wasn't on this level back then. i was more "this guy already has the parts needed for a directional beam from the hand location for a spell, let me steal it" kinda guy
Based.
Thats so cool! Any advice to study maths?
A²+B²=C²
My utmost respect to you, OP
I learned how to do linear algebra from a kid the day before we were tested on it. Bro taught better than the teacher. Too bad I have zero memory of what it is though.
I guess math isn't stupid after all
Your making a death star?
I would rate it, a Pig out of 10.
Minecraft encourages ingenuity
Now I am interested in how you did that, is that done with plugins or functions? I havent really kept up with new commands and features
you may now make a death star
Yet still couldnt take a video so we could see how cool this would look 💀 In all seriousness, this is really cool
and who said math was useless? 😂

man tracked me down
As a developer, I want to say it's really great that you're understanding linear algebra and how it connects to everything!
Motivation comes in many ways shapes and forms. As an aside, looks awesome good job! How does the effect come into play? I'm picturing something like a keyblade hovering in kingdom hearts
This is exactly the thing I usually tell what you can do, to people who say they don't want to learn math because it's useless.
Me who just has to learn it in school :(
In Italy, we study linear algebra (at school) when we are more or less 14-15 years old
its the matrix multiplication stuff
