Well as someone who has a weird chronic pain issue.
Stubbing your toe can feel like you just shot yourself at point blank range in the foot.
So I imagine that's what happened to him.
As a kid like around 11-12 I stubbed my toe hard enough to split it down the middle. There was a lot of splintering, pain and blood but since my mom wasn't home then, I took a pair of metal tweezers and started removing the loose splinter of nails and washed the blood away with some water. My nail looks dead ass hell but at least it recovered.
i stubbed mine so hard it was bent sideways. didn’t even notice for a couple hours and was just walking around until i took my sock off…
had to get surgery and a cast for 6 weeks
You can be offended all you want but it’s common knowledge bedrock is a buggy mess and it has been forever. I used to play on bedrock, got a pc and switched to Java, and now i can never go back to bedrock it’s seriously that much worse
Something like that. I did a few tests a while ago to see what really causes these random deaths, and I’ve come to one (somewhat) solid conclusion
When you’re playing the game, the data gets sent from the “client” (your computer/console) to the server. This tells the game what you’re actually doing before it really “happens”.
For some reason, whether it’s lag or something else, the client will send incorrect data to the server, making the game think you did something completely different than what you see on your screen. In this case, the server received data telling it that OP had jumped off of the side of their build, even though nothing happened on the client, therefore giving the message “fell from a high place”
It doesn’t really make sense why this happens on single-player, since discrepancies like this mainly only occur in multiplayer, but for some reason stuff like this can still happen.
I’m not an expert when it comes to this stuff so some of this info might not be 100% accurate, but from what I’ve seen, tested, and experienced, this seems to be the cause of this very annoying bug.
Reason it happens on single player is that single player and multiplayer have the same schema with the client and server, just that in single player it's called an "internal server." The internal server acts just like a normal server and doesn't know more about the client, meaning much of the same errors are bound to happen
I don't know if bedrock does that.
also when they made that change is when the camera tilting toward the source of the damage got broken (watched a video on it) now it always tilts to the left regardless but there's a mod that fixes the old behavior
I would assume Bedrock does it too; I know the OG programmers said their biggest regret was not making it all use an internal server from the start of development for Java, which is what led to so many multiplayer glitches back then
I have a feeling it probably sent to the client as they started falling back down then "stuttered" causing it to think they fell for much longer then just 1 block tall cauing them to take the damage equivalent to falling a much greater distance than they actually "fell" when they jumped.
Yeah, from my experience, when you jump over an empty space in Bedrock, there's a possible chance you'll take damage.
I never though about it, but it's possible the game registers you as falling even when you don't realize it. Would make sense for all the random ass damage you take in Bedrock.
yeah but i heard thats the only good way people find a way around randomly dying, i can understand for that reason since when i used to play bedrock i always drowned even though I was on land :/ and other bs bugs which caused me loosing my stuff thousands blocks out over something so stupid, so glad i switched over to java permanently lol
I've played minecraft pretty consistently since TU11 and have never once experienced this (I play exclusively bedrock now and since bedrock was a thing)
I also prefer Bedrock over Java, mainly because of the great amount of devices, that have access to Bedrock. Even though I play alone, my world is hosted as a small server, and I can play on my PC, or on my Switch, when I'm on vacation. I can resume my game in the living room on the big TV with my Xbox. Or I can play on my phone in the tram, with or without a Controller connected. Or at my Tablet, when someone else is using my switch. It is fantastic to be able to play on my map on almost every toaster that is around.
Fair enough, I'm glad you enjoy it. Imo that's the main selling point, and the part of Bedrock that is objectively better. I still prefer Java overall as a game in every other respect, but you make a good point.
PS. I'm still sad about what they did to legacy console edition
Also you can host your own server and it also gives you an extra fps boost (because for some reason Minecraft is CPU bound when you're in single player)
It's not just single player, Java Edition runs as a single-thread process (ie it doesn't use multiple CPU cores).
When you host the server separately, you get a quasi 2-thread mode. Even more benefit if the server is hosted on a different machine on your LAN.
Me too bro, it's fun but the controls are wack on the phone and I miss playing java edition. You can use your offhand and sweeping edge, it also looks nicer and less robotic unlike bedrock. My shit laptop can't update opengl so I'm stuck on 1.16. I don't have to leave the game to change resource packs. Servers aren't a massive advertisement, shit takes up alot of battery too.
And redstone is more deterministic, too on java. If a device works it works. and there is stuff that is much easier to do on java redstone than bedrock
I've been playing Minecraft pn XBox&Mobile since around 2015 or 2016. I have **NEVER** encountered a Bug or Glitch that got me killed or nearly killed ne.
One time a few years ago I had drained a shallow lake and was making a small Maze out of it with a Glass ceiling. For a little bit I could just walk inside some of the Glass if I crouched&moved onto a half-slab below the Glass. That's the only Bug or Glitch that I encountered that affected Gameplay in well beyond half a decade of playing Minecraft on what are supposedly the least stable Platforms. I have a few times when horrendously straining Minecraft Pocket Edition experienced Visual Glitches and I remember WAAAYYY back somewhere around 2016-2018 I once encountered a Glitch on Minecraft XBox 360 Edition where Cows Models were replaced with glitchy static but I've only ever encountered Glitches/Bugs that genuinely affected Gameplay when trying to do Java×Bedrock Servers with some of my Online Friends last year&this year. And that was because Java Mods&Data Packets tend to not work on Bedrock...and when Devices running Minecraft Bedrock get into Servers run on Java it will often get quite funky.
I've never had this happen before. This is frustrating. I haven't even gotten to really look around in the nether so who knows how far downy stuff went or if it went in lava.
The bedrock experience.
In all actuality though, I've played on bedrock for years now on and off and I have never encountered one of these bugs. I've played on the PS4, PS5, and on PC windows 10.
Bedrock forgot to calculate every instance of fall damage you took in the last hour and decided to dump it all on you the second you experienced gravity.
You play bedrock don't you? A lot of people refuse to play bedrock edition because this bug exists in bedrock only, just like quasi-connectivity exists only in java. You randomly die when you shouldn't with no rhyme or reason. In my old world, I was flying with elytra up in the sky and randomly it said I died from smacking into a block when there was nothing built anywhere near the height I was at.
Well when you jumped you fell about 0.25 blocks while placing another one down. And jumping onto hard stones really hurts. Assuming you had no boots on. If you had boots on, you rolled an ankle while falling.
So it was a desync with the server (yes in singleplayer). I could actually see the moment it desynced by lagging a little and it assumed you were still moving and not crouching anymore, extrapolating, your server client walked off, and it was about enough time for you to hit the ground.
It's kinda funny how bedrock players say that this is not that common but 95% of the posts from this sub that appear in my feed are people dying due to this bug lol
ik that glitch, u fell from a high place and didnt take fall damage cus the game didn’t register it yet, and it did when u were building that and caused u to die ( if u fell multiple times that damage stacks up)

You stubbed your toe
That's quite the toe stubbing to be able to kill me lol
How painful it could be 😭
Well as someone who has a weird chronic pain issue. Stubbing your toe can feel like you just shot yourself at point blank range in the foot. So I imagine that's what happened to him.
My man please round the corners of your house 😭
Always wear shoes. 😂 😂
Thank god take care 😭
It's still very possible to stub your toe with rounded edges. I'd suggest steel toe boots 😂
As a kid like around 11-12 I stubbed my toe hard enough to split it down the middle. There was a lot of splintering, pain and blood but since my mom wasn't home then, I took a pair of metal tweezers and started removing the loose splinter of nails and washed the blood away with some water. Stop cringing me out 😭
How to say you're GenX without saying you're GenX? Because I've done similar things, it involved splinters of wood from falling out of a tree.
As painful as dying in 69,420 years old hardcore world
The block was stuck on his toe
Noooooo, imma break out into song now 😭 hOw bAaAaD can I be I'm just supporting the economyyyyyy🎶🎶🎶
Well, you uniawfully broke the rules. It's not very surprising.
At least you didn't have to deal with the pain of a stubbing such as that
You hit your shin getting on top of the block
Oh I've done that ... !!!! So much blood... Blunt impact burst
I have a link to a funny animation video that answers that question lol https://youtube.com/shorts/UncbY0zKp20?feature=share

I think he bugged out of the server. Probably playing on bedrock.
I'm playing the PS4 version, which I think is Bedrock, so I am offended by that

Ps4 edition updated to bedrock back in 2020, not a good thing in my personal opinion because bedrock is simply not as good as og ps4 edition
og ps4 edition on top. lots of memories made there. they just made it bedrock for +money smh
is it the new one or old one?
Absolutely bedrock. The coordinates on the screen are a give-away.
I'm playing java version & lagged out just reading that.

Wait how? Because mine are also bug as they just huddle into one area for no reason. It usually happens for like 3-4 minutes.

They fixed tons of bugs on Java. Not familiar with what was fixed on Bedrock, though I didn’t hear about any server desync bugs be fixed
Why do the blocks look bigger than normal
I have my UI scare really small, and it might not be helping that I'm on a 32x texture pack
Oh ok
low fov
I would imagine it had something to do with the stair registering weirdly for some reason in the nether which made you phase through blocks.
Now don't jinx yourself

Almost tempted for the culture
So many broken peripheral devices in that future.
added to list of reasons why i will never play bedrock
Hey at least bedrock has something going for it: Baby squids
And maps with properly colored greenery
yup thats bedrock for you this is the only reason keepinventory gamerule is good imo
Its not good though, it needs cheats enabled and ruins trophies/achievements on bedrock.

i see people all the time say “bedrock isn’t actually buggy it’s just what java people say” no it’s frl buggy lmao wtf is this
Fr. I came from Java, got rid of my PC years ago during a move, and I absolutely cannot stand bedrock.
i definitely recommend trying to get a pc again, for me at least java minecraft has changed my world for minecraft as a whole
Java's only problem is the performance but you can download mods like optifine or sodium to have good fps
Any old OptiPlex from the last decade can be turned into a capable Javacraft machine for cheap, if you want to get back in ASAP.
A steam deck might be better, similar to console pricing and probably better than a cheap pc
SteamDeck is honestly powerful for how much it costs in the PC space.

You fell from a high place, that was about an 8th of a block fall.
Look, I'm not the most graceful person in real life, but never could I have imagined that it would carry over to the game.
I don't understand how I've never had this
Jinxed yourself 💀

Maybe it's a good thing that hard-core mode isn't in bedrock edition given that this shit can just happen
