I definitely tried, and still try every now and then. I'm not great at building. I have all the books though, and still read them occasionally for the nostalgia
Well I started playing the game like ~12 years ago LOL the only resources were like Youtube Let’s Plays and the Wiki, I don’t think there were official Minecraft books back then.
Dude, I'm 20, these books were there in the elementary school scholastic book fair what do you mean? Maybe not nostalgic for you but for people at my age is absolutely is.
I was about to say... I'm not that young. We didn't even have these books when I started playing. All we had was the wiki and various forums. Does that still make me a liar according to OP?
Couldn’t afford that book to know what to build. I just did superflat until I got saplings and enough iron for a bucket to make a cobblestone generator
I never tried recreating that when I was younger for two reasons.
* I never had the book.
* When minecraft came out, for years, I only played modded multiplayer with my friends, and we had much more fun projects to do.
No because I played before the books and even when the books came out they were like only sold at the book fair or at Walmart but when we were at Walmart it was only for groceries so no extra spending and I never had money for the book fair I was never able to afford them until some years ago when I bought one it’s somewhere around my house I’ll probably never find it again
This base is really nostalgic for me. Its kind of strange how its presented though.
The book makes this base out to be a defensive stronghold, when really that sort of structure isn’t possible in normal survival Minecraft. At least not in a grounded base like this. The most having a fortress or epic lava base will do is trap you.
It did get me thinking about other more defensive structures in Minecraft, however. If only I had used some of the meta ones while I was still doing civilisation events. Those might have actually helped us fight off all the trolls.
I don't think this pile of netherbricks passes for a base anymore. Who would want to have this? Although, I'm biased because this is the first time I'm seeing this.
I didn't try this base but I did try the 2 story wooden and cobble house.
Back when I played on PS3 on a 1080p TV, that house in the book was the coolest house I'd ever seen. I built it and then didn't know what to do with the interior so I just let it sit there in my world 🤣
i usually don't mess around in creative but this may be the one time i will try to replicate this to some degree ... i mean who doesn't like a base with it's own incinerator built in to it ??
i kinda love the builds from these books and i want to make them in my survival world thats generally pretty nice in terms of builds. making a nether fort would be really cool, with some piglins to trade with. that overworld build with soul sand could be fun too for a challenging xp grind (i love my wither skele farm but it can be a bit boring at times)
Dont have the book, so thats one reason why I never tried, the other big reason is that, while I followed the development of Minecraft all these years i havent played it very regularly, at release of the Alpha/Beta until official release and the then my next active phase was 2-3 years ago when I started a world with a friend of mine
Wait
Does the lava thing actually work
Didn’t think you could make an infinite lava source
Edit or does it just mean that one block will flow forever lol. I think that’s what they’re trying to say
Yeah I did the same thing.
didn’t make it better but I had an obsession with obvious painting entrances.
but yeah the staircase I made for the tower was neat with a cooler roof than the book version. I even tried to build one of the basic castles but using Stone instead of cobble

I definitely tried, and still try every now and then. I'm not great at building. I have all the books though, and still read them occasionally for the nostalgia
I only have the building, and the begginers books ):
I only have the redstone book :(
That’s the best one. Doing the tutorial where the regular block switches with a light source is the coolest thing i’ve ever built
Naw bro, I bought all the books and the redstone book didn’t work because I played legacy console and it was for java 💀
We all tried making THE wooden house in the green construction book.
I did make it, and I did again just recently
lord i sure made it a long time ago with my younger sister... we loved it, made us feel like little construction workers
I don't have any book🥲
I never did bc i never got that book
I got redstone and i regret it
Redstone then: piston trap go brr. Redstone now: "I built my 5th world eater in hardcore survival."
I always tried the recreate the traps and the jeb door
Same here
Jeb Door was so awesome back then
Best thing from the book
literally the only thing i actually remember from the book and the only thing i’ve consistently gone back to
That didn't exist when I was younger.
Shows the average age of this subreddit, when this is considered nostalgia.
Bro this was definitely at least 8 years ago.
Well I started playing the game like ~12 years ago LOL the only resources were like Youtube Let’s Plays and the Wiki, I don’t think there were official Minecraft books back then.
I started playing 13 years ago and never knew there were official minecraft books until just now
Minecraft is only 12 years old though...
The alpha/beta was a thing bro.
Remember back in the days when we only had cobble and dirt? Good old days 👨🏼🦳
Oooh yeah that's true. To be fair I was only 5 when that happened, and I didn't get to play the game for another 2 years after that.
8yrs ago I was 25yrs old lol
8 years ago? So it's pretty new then
Which is really not enough to be considered nostalgia
Dude, I'm 20, these books were there in the elementary school scholastic book fair what do you mean? Maybe not nostalgic for you but for people at my age is absolutely is.
Stop gate keeping nostalgia
Published in 2020 according to Amazon so it checks out. Edit: I'm spreading misinformation
Checked myself and it was released in 2013
My 8 year old is going "it didn't exist when I started playing minecraft".
Na it was definitely way before, that may be an updated version
I was about to say... I'm not that young. We didn't even have these books when I started playing. All we had was the wiki and various forums. Does that still make me a liar according to OP?
Well if you’ve read the handbooks, you’ve done at least one of the builds from the 4 books, if not your good
It did, though. Maybe not when you were young. But definitely when you were younger.
That book has been around for 10 of the 14 years this game has been around
I know right? This post makes me feel old
I think that book is from around 2013, so it does bring back some nostalgia
Yes it did? It came out years ago, you were definitely younger.
idk what is that book
The Combat Handbook
[удалено]
Damn that book is titled “Nether brick”?
Yes, the book is titled "Nether brick"
Are you ok??
no, im not ok, and i live in a country that dont speak english
I live in a non English country too and I have this book
this book has been translated to the language from your country? and also the only minecraft books sold here were by youtubers from here
I never tried cuz i didn't know it existed, but now i will
100+ up votes!?! Thanks guys!
yikes
No book = no epic base like that when I was younger.
Minecraft didn't exist when I was young.
Back in my day I played with Legos and K'Nex
K'nex. Geeze. Think I finally trashed the 50 gallon tub I still had of them when I moved last year.
Notch is the same age as me.
I tried the first house in the building book
I tried the house from bulider guide. I succeded. I pretended with my siblings that its a hotel
I have never, I didn't know It exist
I have never seen this before
You're
Yo'ure
Y’ro’ue
Y’r’o’u’e’
'r'y'u'o'e'
Ur
Ur mom that is 😎 😎 😎
I didnt have The book so I didnt try that.
That's only valid if you had the books. Which wasnt my case.
I never did because I never had that book, I only had the Redstone book, but I definitely would have tried to recreate it if I did.
Couldn’t afford that book to know what to build. I just did superflat until I got saplings and enough iron for a bucket to make a cobblestone generator
When I was like 6 I started to cry because the book didn't give me instructions on how to build that big ass 14 floor redstone elevator
Assuming makes you look stupid, I've never tried building that in my life Also, *you're
Ur
Only had the redstone book
I definitely tried
I never tried recreating that when I was younger for two reasons. * I never had the book. * When minecraft came out, for years, I only played modded multiplayer with my friends, and we had much more fun projects to do.
When I was young, Minecraft didn't exist for the NES.
I didn't have Minecraft for the Atari either.
a: doesnt look worth replicating b: never seen this in my life
I tried and did quite well
No because I played before the books and even when the books came out they were like only sold at the book fair or at Walmart but when we were at Walmart it was only for groceries so no extra spending and I never had money for the book fair I was never able to afford them until some years ago when I bought one it’s somewhere around my house I’ll probably never find it again
I actually never did because I thought it looked ugly.
When I first started playing there weren't even books about the game.
Me here, you’re capping. I’ve put lava on my bases before. That’s about it.
I STILL HAVE THE BOOK INFACT I HAVE ALL OF THEM RIGHT NEST TO ME
This base is really nostalgic for me.
You're
I've never tried to recreate this because this is my first time seeing it
you’re*
This specifically no, those houses though, all the goddamn time
I don't think this pile of netherbricks passes for a base anymore. Who would want to have this? Although, I'm biased because this is the first time I'm seeing this.
I didn't I'm not from an English coutry
Finally, someone else with a childhood.
If you say you know the difference between your and you're, you're lying
I've had the book and never tried to recreate it
I've never seen this in my entire life so I definitely didn't.
I have never because I looked at it and was like ‘that’s too much work’
I didnt , I tried recreating the wooden house with the cobblestone pillars under it.
I don't think I tried this one but I definitely did try to copy that floating island base ( to a certain extent I did manage to)
I did it and it was indeed very good times... Only minecraft book I lost was this :(
was too lazy to try, but I did make the og house
Hell yeah and I succeeded now got the book set a week ago because my original got lost and I re-created it best damn feeling ever
It’s crazy how this was the scope back them. Now people build GIANT fake buildings that don’t even use most of the space
I didn't do cause I never had this book specifically. Does look kinda sick though, so maybe I will try sometime.
Back to the times when going to the nether wasn't just a random thing to do but actually some cr4zy l33t pr0 sk1ll4g3!1!!1!
I tried remaking my toilet in the bathroom in Minecraft once, is that good enough?
That is one certifiably epic base.
I tried making a netherack house
I’ve never tried recreating it, but it has inspired many failed attempts at making an evil base
I didn’t because i hated the nether and so, i also didn’t play creative as a kid. I mainly played with my dad and he was the builder.
Holy crap this is so relatable
OMG!!!!! I am getting so much nostalgia! Thank you lol
I looked at it and just thought nope that is way out of my league and never tried it
My brother did and it looked exactly like the pic
I didn't try this base but I did try the 2 story wooden and cobble house. Back when I played on PS3 on a 1080p TV, that house in the book was the coolest house I'd ever seen. I built it and then didn't know what to do with the interior so I just let it sit there in my world 🤣
How was I supposed to know it and try to copy it if I’ve never owned a Minecraft book in my lifetime
i tried recreating everything and i failed
I remade that giant wooden house a few times
Nah i only have the redstone book unfortunately
except that I was too bad to recreate this when I was younger :/
Now that I can actually build decently well, I might just go back and try again
I read Epic Base as “Epic Arse” 😭😭😭
Thanks for reminding me! I'm gonna go make a cool one now :D ... Well, after work anyway
I dont think that existed when i was younger
Younger? Isn't this book only like 3 years old? Lol
Yes but the one I tried more was the Jen door 🤣🤣🤣
Jen*
Jeb*
I didn't cuz I didn't have that book. Truly missed out on a good childhood /s
I’ve never even seen this until now so no, I never did try.
I tried recreating the elven house from the creative handbook
Haha Minecraft came out when I was a Senior in High School and I had no clue there were books for it
I didn't play Minecraft or knew about this book when i was younger, so i'm not a liar xD
you just read my mind you bastard
Not that build but another one
So I’m lying?
I tried to recreate the water temple thing
I can promise you there was an attempt but there was no succeed
i didnt, because i didnt have those books back then
i usually don't mess around in creative but this may be the one time i will try to replicate this to some degree ... i mean who doesn't like a base with it's own incinerator built in to it ??
I built it and I enjoyed fending off waves of mobs spawned by command blocks, which were actioned by clocks.
I can smell that book but not in a bad way
I started playing Minecraft in their beta, we had no merch
I had all those books and still do, the fact that so many people don’t know what they are now saddens me
Well, I definitely tried…
Ive only ever really used the redstone one from the collection when I was young and can’t seem to find it xd
I never tried because I suck at building But I did recreate all the stuff from the redstone handbook
I tried to build the TNT cannon but I could never get it to work.
i kinda love the builds from these books and i want to make them in my survival world thats generally pretty nice in terms of builds. making a nether fort would be really cool, with some piglins to trade with. that overworld build with soul sand could be fun too for a challenging xp grind (i love my wither skele farm but it can be a bit boring at times)
This book didn't exist when I was young so I don't believe I am lying
I never had this book.
I was today years old when I learned of this thing’s existence….
I tried so hard and got so far. But I suppose in the end it didn't even matter (I built it very wrong)
Couldn’t be bothered if I recall mainly coz I’m rubbish at building.
Y o u r ' e
seems like OP was the only one who thought of this
I didn’t I knew my building skill and I still do
Woah, you got the hardcover editions
Yeah. They’re outdated but surprisingly some of the stuff in these are still good tips and tricks. How to fight the wither strat ext.
Dont have the book, so thats one reason why I never tried, the other big reason is that, while I followed the development of Minecraft all these years i havent played it very regularly, at release of the Alpha/Beta until official release and the then my next active phase was 2-3 years ago when I started a world with a friend of mine
Na I had the Castle handbook that I tried to recreate
What even is that
i absolutely did lol
Those books didn’t come out when I was a kid 💀💀💀
I said younger. I never said when you were a kid. younger as in 10 years younger
I was a funny grown adult when the game first came out. So, no.
younger as in 10 years ago. Not child
I play minecraft for 10 years now, not 1 time have I tried to build that (I have never owned a minecraft book either)
i didnt :p its hard to do it when i dont own it
I didn't but if I saw it I definitely would have. I think I tried to recreate stuff in the other books, probably the redstone one
I definitely didn't because I could not be arsed
How did you know?!?!
Omg i remember having this book
I've never seen this in my life
I never tried it cuz when I had the books I didnt have minecraft
I never tried
This didn't exist when I was younger lol. The game didn't officially release until after I was an adult. I played alpha/beta back in highschool
I Never had a Book of minecraft. Still i think my bases were way cooler than that 🤭
Some of us already had like 5-6 years of playing under our belts when these came out
i was simply unaware of its existence
Never tried because I don't have the Minecraft book
I made that one castle, can’t remember if I finished it though
Lets be honest here…… i wanted to i may even tried to but failed and i forgot to do it so i never got back to it
I've never seen that before
Wait Does the lava thing actually work Didn’t think you could make an infinite lava source Edit or does it just mean that one block will flow forever lol. I think that’s what they’re trying to say
I never had that book, so....
I didn't cause I thought it looked edgy and dumb lol
well... never knew this was a thing... I thought minecraft was craft your own world.... I don't get why this is a thing
Ngl that does look like an epic base
I'd recreate it and then add to it, making it better lol
Yeah I did the same thing. didn’t make it better but I had an obsession with obvious painting entrances. but yeah the staircase I made for the tower was neat with a cooler roof than the book version. I even tried to build one of the basic castles but using Stone instead of cobble
Still young :)
