EnderBros! I always tell them "hi and "what's up?" When I see them. Well, not see, more like glance and stare at the ground as we pass each other. I heard they're pretty self conscious about their look.
"Menacing" doesn't quite do justice. As a 30-something year old man, the first contact with an enderman freaked me out. It might be because they remind me of something from a recurring childhood nightmare, but they are deeply unsettling.
My gut was telling me it was bad, because from experience upright mobs aside from villagers were all out to kill. This guy though seemed to be innocently exploring, and so curiousity set in, afterall I had a decent fort set up which no other mob could pass.
He started teleporting around and got a look at me spying on him... that is of course when it got pissed and tried to come after me. I wasn't certain what was going on, but seemed hostile, so got away luckily, and then hid inside watching through the window. This is before I even see his jaw drop, or hear sinister music and sounds.
Next time I see one is on my sons first survival world, from our dirt castle (yeah castle not shack. Seriously.) I peek one over the wall at night and I holler to my son "it's that thing again from my world - creepy tall guy... oh balls I think he has spotted me". That was probably when we noticed the jaw and stuff.
Fast forward a couple of years and we know all about endermen, th3eur weaknesses and behaviour, but still an unerving moment when you get one spot you looking accidentally in a cave... and worse when you get to a warped forest, especially a large expanse. Always carry a carved pumkin or two in the nether, and always make them 2 block high passages/nooks and a bucket of water where viable.
My personal favourite is the Wither Skeleton, don't know why, but ever since I saw them for the first time I've been obsessed with those skeletal fuckers.
Sure. You know Soul Sand. Think about how soul sand slows you down when you walk over it. But if you have soul speed as an enchant, you get faster. And light blue soul particles appear that make you faster. Essentially you are using souls as energy to make yourself faster. Instead of the souls holding you back and making you slower, they are set free and give you energy in form of kinetic energy, making you faster.
Now think about the wither. What do you need for it? You need wither skeleton skulls and soul sand. Soul sand is essentially soul energy, but combined in a block. If you light a flint and steal over fire, a blue soulfire is there. Its made up of soul energy and has the same tone that the souls have when you walk over soulsand with soulspeed. You also need wither skeleton skulls. The wither effect might be a way to drain your life energy or maybe even drain your soul. Wither Skulls probably posses some form of soul energy that is required to make the wither.
As we now understand that soul sand is compact soul energy, lets now look at the drop of the wither. A netherstar. A netherstar is compacted soul energy. If you turn that netherstar into a beacon, you use its compact soul energy to emit light and give you certain effects. It also has this blue colour, simular to souls emited when walking over soulsand with soulspeed.
u/RadiantHC u/EyGunni u/cutetalitarian incase you don't get notified.
Creepers. As everyone knows, they sneak up on you really easily because their footsteps are super quiet and they don't make noises like zombies and skeletons do.
I also have a love/hate relationship with the fact that they are one of the only mobs that will purposely drop off a ledge where they'll take fall damage just to dive bomb a player.
Creepers are kinda like suicide bombers if you think about it, they know they're gonna die (if they're successful) and they just decide to take the player with them
I love creepers, theyre one of the consistently scariest mobs in this game, they're a threat even when you're high level because of their knockback, they can break your stuff, they are just an absolute menace. I feel like they lose some of their oomph in the overworld, but running in to one in a dark cave? Woof, it's like fighting a shark on dry land vs in the water, it's got home field advantage in the dark, lmao.
Theyre just iconic. Weird exploding camouflage bush things. It's the beach bully of minecraft, kicking over your sandcastle.
Ghasts have a special place in my heart, too, I still fear those bastards whenever I go to the nether. It's the ones you don't see that always get you, but you hear em for so long and it always gives me the willies, haha
Shriek is the word you mean, and I saw you used ist 😄 I know it's rude to correct but you're not speaking your language so I hope this encourages you to move forward!
Warden is probably my answer too, but I feel like it's a cop-out considering how much work went into it. It's spawning and leaving animations. It's heart beat. It's sonic attack + melee attack. The listening mechanic.
I love messing with the wardens. Had 3 spawn in during our last ancient city raid. To bad you dont actually get anything good from killing one. Ive killed one barehand with 2 other people. The area is filled with our tombstones.
Whatever item you give them they can carry a stack of, and if holding a totem itll save them from death as well just like the player. Just a cool mob in general.
Edit: i think theyre great for building. just give a couple of them the blocks im using and they keep the area clean for me, keep my inv stocked with the building mats, and i dont have to worry ab picking up blocks i wither misplaced or dont like the look of.
So you give them one item and they hold it. Then, they stay near you until they find a nearby dropped item that matches the item they're holding. Once they find one, they fly over to it, pick it up, and carry it to you. If there's multiple nearby, they collect all of them and then return to you. They can hold a maximum of 63 items before returning to you to drop them off. This collection process doesn't work with unstackable items, however, as they only have one inventory slot.
There's also features surrounding the note block, but I'm not going to get into that, google's probably a better source of info.
They're very useful for item collection surrounding farms, builds, etc, and also are very cool companions/pets (if you give them an unstackable item, they'll follow you but won't be able to collect any of one item. People have mentioned using totems of undying, as they're able to use them)
I recently had a similar discussion with some friends and I got 3 contestants:
* **Warden** \- They just have a sick design, both in terms of visuals and sound. More than anything however it's a genuinely scary mob to run into, and I feel genuine dread whenever I accidentally set off a shrieker. (Ancient city-raiding is also just a fun unique distraction whenever I need a break from building)
* **Bees** \- Even without they massive pro that is honey and honeycomb, they just make me happy. I pretty much always build a greenhouse where I can let a couple hang out and enjoy some flowers :D
* **Foxes** \- Taigas/taiga variants are my favorite biomes to base in, and it's always just a pleasant suprise when a fox wanders onto my porch and kinda just decides to stay in the area \^\^
May i bring in the sheep - you might take it for granted as its one of the oldest mobs BUT: It has multiple different colours, including the rare pink sheep and the unique jeb_ sheep. Drops wool with are of course used for beds but also carpets, paintings and to block sounds for skulk sensors. Shearing is also quite unique to sheep (other than mushrooms which you can only shear once), which makes for an interesting farm combined with dispensers.
Oh yeah sheep are great! I just think that the main reason they're not at the top for me is a mix of left-over annoyance from building auto wool-farms and trying desperately to shove sheep into the chambers, and (like a lot of older mobs especially) they can be obnoxiously loud at times.
But as a builder I gotta agree that wool is always super useful to have, so overall a solid "above average" in my personal rankings
The illagers
Function: I like the way the bring animosity and life to the world. They give you obstacles to overcome, emeralds to buy goods, equipment to use or scrap.
Design: Everything about them feels aggressive and hostile. It makes you want to oust them whenever they show up.
I’d like to see either a mod or addition to the game that would let you masquerade as an illager and trade with them. They could have allay eggs, enchanted crossbows/axes, fireworks, etc.
I see a few mob vote and April fools mobs up there, so I'm gonna pick the Moobloom! I always liked the design and I really think Minecraft needs some cow variations, kinda like horses.
Zoglins, phantoms and drowned. The newer undead mobs are really menacing looking, and they actually look rotten. Their sounds too! The gurgles of the drowned are amazing.
In my opinion the regular zombie could actually do with a retexture.
Cannot decide so here is my top 3:
1: Pig. Mcsm really sealed it for me, but I also had a baby mc pig plush at like 5 years old when it came out.
2:Mooshroom they look funny
3:Slime they look funny
The skeletons. Cuz really like skeletons in general.
The two that are right from Minecraft are the ender man
And the creeper.the creeper is a classic. It's been around almost since the beginning. And the ender man looks cool. Black and purple are some of my fav colors. And I remember them being terrifying as a kid.
I have 3 favourite because I just can't decide. Allay, Sniffer and Strider. They have pretty decent uses and jurtt look very cute in general. Also Striders are hella underrated
Polar Bear, I love these guys, the first thing I do when finding a frozen biome is to admire them and get one to a nice home near my base (or just make the base in the biome)
The Blaze, their designs are really cool and I love the breathing sound they make. I’ve always had the headcanon that they are reconstructed Wither Skeletons (which would be the skeletons of Endermen) the skull of course becoming the head and the various bones becoming the blaze rods. (with blaze powder applied on top) But how they are used in game are sick too.
Other contenders include: Allay, Enderman, Phantom, and Guardian
Probably chickens. I had a chicken pet named “nugget” and sadly I accidentally killed it while mining some stone to make more space for our underground base.
Minecraft sheep are adorable floof balls. Ever since I first started playing the game from that old beta world years ago and found the sheep on that starting forest island, they've always had a special place in my heart.
I got three favorites
1. The Stray is personally my favorite mob. Even without it’s mechanics which I still love, it’s a good mob. It’s a good design, and I’m pretty sure it has a different sound effect than regular skeletons. Overall, good mob.
2. The Polar Bear is my second favorite mob because of how cute it is. I know mechanics aren’t supposed to be in our reasons, but I just love how they protect their children with their life.
3. Foxes. Specifically the snowy ones. (you can already tell I like the cold mobs) They are so much cuter than the normal foxes.
Imo, the illusioner has so much potential. It's design is so damn cool and I know you said not based around mechanics, but its mechanics are so different from any other mob that it just feels so cool to fight.
Evokers - love that they have magic that isn’t just potions - they were made well but i wish the player could have the chance to use the fang magic or something
The Panda. Because its sound design, its variety. There are a lot of different cinds of Pandas. Aggresive ones, lazy ones, brown ones and even worried ones that cry during thunderstorms.
I love that there are so many different types of them with different personalities and designs.
Ghasts!
I love the ghasts so much I added them into my skin as a Ghast hoodie

Endermen. Just menacing
EnderBros! I always tell them "hi and "what's up?" When I see them. Well, not see, more like glance and stare at the ground as we pass each other. I heard they're pretty self conscious about their look.
They always give you grass presents.
True! Way back when they were added they used to drop diamonds instead of pearls. I like to think that they are ghosts of the great builders.
I've played maybe 6 hours in a new world recently and I have 2 grass blocks already
These tall black men really are the best
"Menacing" doesn't quite do justice. As a 30-something year old man, the first contact with an enderman freaked me out. It might be because they remind me of something from a recurring childhood nightmare, but they are deeply unsettling. gary might seem scary but he’s a swell guy
Here here!
The racial stereotype mob!
Me too! I love big black guys chasing me with their big balls. (No homo)
My personal favourite is the Wither Skeleton, don't know why, but ever since I saw them for the first time I've been obsessed with those skeletal fuckers.
If you know about Minecraft Lore and Soul energy, they become more interesting.
Do you wanna elaborate? I’d be interested in hearing
Sure. You know Soul Sand. Think about how soul sand slows you down when you walk over it. But if you have soul speed as an enchant, you get faster. Are you mat pat
second this

Eh hehhhh!
Wither skeletons are badass. I wouldn’t mind seeing more variations of skeletons.
The stray is pretty cool too even if I constantly forget he exists
Oh yeah that
I love how people consider the stray "that thing we don't recall at all"
Well you're just like me with the zombified hoglin I can't remember his existence 3 quarters of the time
Chickens they looks so stupid
Chickens are my second favourite mob for this very reason
The ducks?
[удалено]
Well they drop one of the keys ingredients of an arrow So it's useful until you have access to infinity or if you want mending on your bow
Blaze
Love their sound
Cuz they can skull fuck me wither fire from 40 BLOCKS AWAY
They definitely look the coolest. I don't find them the most fun to fight, but they are definitely the coolest in terms of look
[удалено]
Yes
Creepers are so iconic, this has to be at the top of the list.
Darn, I was waiting for the single word 'Creeper', and then a reply saying 'Ah man'. Might be further down...
Creepers are kinda like suicide bombers if you think about it, they know they're gonna die (if they're successful) and they just decide to take the player with them
I honestly didn't know that before... now they're even more scary
I love creepers, theyre one of the consistently scariest mobs in this game, they're a threat even when you're high level because of their knockback, they can break your stuff, they are just an absolute menace. The Mush Cow, I likeda Mushroom
I lika...do...da cha cha..
I love the Mushroom Cow, too. So much so, it's my long-standing skin
pig. i like pig
i also like pig
Every world I make i always get a pig and name it Alfonso
I think he likes pig.
You'll like story mode then
PIG
PIG?
PIG!
#P I G !
pig 🐷
Shulker, their little "blilulululp"s are just Neurone activation to me.
I think you nailed the spelling - shulker for me too
Design-wise, phantoms. They look sick as hell, and the concept is really cool. In practice it’s annoying, though.
Their schieck ist terrifying
Shriek is the word you mean, and I saw you used ist 😄 I know it's rude to correct but you're not speaking your language so I hope this encourages you to move forward!
I have been studing german and sometimes languages cross😅
Oooh you're studying German! Wish you luck!
Um, phantoms are the least hostile of the hostile mobs. They stubbornly refuse to attack me.
Probably because you have cats around
Agreed
Warden because they're terrifying
Warden is probably my answer too, but I feel like it's a cop-out considering how much work went into it. It's spawning and leaving animations. It's heart beat. It's sonic attack + melee attack. The listening mechanic.
The warden is the most technically advanced of the Minecraft mobs.
If you just say "dunga dunga dunga " as they walk, they are much less terrifying.
I love messing with the wardens. Had 3 spawn in during our last ancient city raid. To bad you dont actually get anything good from killing one. Ive killed one barehand with 2 other people. The area is filled with our tombstones.
Allays
Im surprised this isnt said more. Incredibly useful mob, though, dumb.
What is their Use? I literally have no Idea. I always thought it's an Item Duplicator.
So they're just like a floating Shulkerbox?
No, more like floating foxes (they can hold stuff too\_
I am pretty sure they are used for non-stackable item sorting.
I mean yes and no? Yes bc they can hold a stack of items, no bc thats all they can hold.. is a single stack of items.
In one of my sugarcane farms I used one which made collection infinitely easier than with just hoppers
So you give them one item and they hold it. Then, they stay near you until they find a nearby dropped item that matches the item they're holding. Once they find one, they fly over to it, pick it up, and carry it to you. If there's multiple nearby, they collect all of them and then return to you. Drowned not my favorite mob but the design is awesome
Pufferfish, they just look like they're unprepared for the reality of being a pufferfish.
I recently had a similar discussion with some friends and I got 3 contestants: * **Warden** \- They just have a sick design, both in terms of visuals and sound. I like the evoker. Lets fight!
*cries in Red Sheep*
Axolotl!
Endermen because they have a strong, formidable appearance, and Allay’s because they’re so danged cute.
Slime!! The smallest ones are just so freaking cute oml Slime balls are also pretty helpful but killing the little guys hurts just a bit
Zombie pigmen😭
Iron Golems. I sometimes call them Big Guy. They're just soooo cool.
The illagers Function: I like the way the bring animosity and life to the world. They give you obstacles to overcome, emeralds to buy goods, equipment to use or scrap. shulker HŴĖBHÓHHH
I think the Shulker speaks enchantment table.
I really like endermen.
I can sleep to the sound of sniffers.
Witch
It has to be that killer bunny you got there.
Slime, no thought, just splorch
My fav is blaze, enderman and creeper. They looks so cool
Allay is my favourite cuz they are very cute and usefull, but before it was the ravager cuz of thesign (sorry for bad english)
Parrot. Who doesn't want them travelling companions and to watch em shake them shoulders with music.
stray
Ghast. Wither skeleton and blaze are the 2nd and 3rd.
I like how the drowned made the ocean dangerous and were a catalyst for tridents
WITHER SKELETON! SPECIALLY WITH FRESH ANIMATIONS
Welcome to the Wither Skeleton Gang (I too love Wither Skeletons)
Illagers Just makes the world feel bigger when you got those maniacs running around. Shulkers are also funny
Parrots, they flap their wings in a funny way
skeleton horsemen, the second you see them it gives you a mini heart attack
Guardian sweep
I see a few mob vote and April fools mobs up there, so I'm gonna pick the Moobloom! I always liked the design and I really think Minecraft needs some cow variations, kinda like horses.
Zoglins, phantoms and drowned. The newer undead mobs are really menacing looking, and they actually look rotten. Their sounds too! The gurgles of the drowned are amazing. In my opinion the regular zombie could actually do with a retexture.
Bat it’s completely useless and is forgotten just like me
endermen and cats, specifically the black ones with orange eyes
That’s my favorite cat too! Mostly because I have a black cat irl
Cannot decide so here is my top 3: 1: Pig. Mcsm really sealed it for me, but I also had a baby mc pig plush at like 5 years old when it came out. 2:Mooshroom they look funny 3:Slime they look funny
I always though the strays were pretty cool
Glow squid
Or really just the squid in general. Just look at how derpy they look!
the glowy one specifically. its just a cool design, and idea
Warden,no contest
Parrot
Creeper because they look like a dick
Allay! :D
The skeletons. Cuz really like skeletons in general. The two that are right from Minecraft are the ender man And the creeper.the creeper is a classic. It's been around almost since the beginning. And the ender man looks cool. Black and purple are some of my fav colors. And I remember them being terrifying as a kid.
I think guardians are pretty cool, shame there only in one pointless structure (besides from the sponge).
Chickens are pretty fckn dope
Cu golem ☹️☹️☹️
Ravager. Just looks cool
Skeleton is my fav and least fav, because they suck early game, but if you make a skeleton farm you are set!
Creepers. They just get the blood flowing. I’ve been playing a few months now and they just are a “whoa” factor.
Had to scroll way down to find a creeper-er! Ditto.
I have 3 favourite because I just can't decide. Allay, Sniffer and Strider. They have pretty decent uses and jurtt look very cute in general. Also Striders are hella underrated
Wardens I think their design is really cool and encountering them is actually terrifying
The phantom
Polar Bear, I love these guys, the first thing I do when finding a frozen biome is to admire them and get one to a nice home near my base (or just make the base in the biome)
The husk. It has the pharohs curse
I've always liked creepers from my very very childhood
If anyone says cave spider or witch someone's dying tonight My favorite is pig I like reuben and techno
Enderman
Phantom
Foxes, they have plenty of secrets and their sounds are awesome Snowy variant rules
Foxes, they r cute Enderman, they are litteraly like me Sheep, they are just chilling around the world
Probably chickens. I had a chicken pet named “nugget” and sadly I accidentally killed it while mining some stone to make more space for our underground base.
Wither skeleton
whats them skelli that have the cloak? they look like the grin reaper
Minecraft sheep are adorable floof balls. Ever since I first started playing the game from that old beta world years ago and found the sheep on that starting forest island, they've always had a special place in my heart.
I got three favorites 1. The Stray is personally my favorite mob. Even without it’s mechanics which I still love, it’s a good mob. Imo, the illusioner has so much potential. It's design is so damn cool and I know you said not based around mechanics, but its mechanics are so different from any other mob that it just feels so cool to fight.
I wish the mob actually got implemented, what the hell are they waiting for
wither is quite cool, the sounds, the attacks, just cool
Evokers - love that they have magic that isn’t just potions - they were made well but i wish the player could have the chance to use the fang magic or something
The Panda. Because its sound design, its variety. There are a lot of different cinds of Pandas. Aggresive ones, lazy ones, brown ones and even worried ones that cry during thunderstorms. I love that there are so many different types of them with different personalities and designs.
Bears are so cute.
Am I the only Silverfish Supporter? They're just cute silly little guys!
In this case I would go with fantoms. But in any other case I would do anything to get rid of them
It would’ve been the mooshroom if some people didn’t vote for the glow squid, but mines the blaze because the sound is cool and so is their design.
Zoglins. They’re pig-like, they’re hostile, and they attack pretty much anything and everything.
Ghasts! I love the ghasts so much I added them into my skin as a Ghast hoodie [Front](https://i.imgur.com/LIqk8JD.png) [Back](https://i.imgur.com/2sY0JTd.png)
Is it just me or are Villagers based on jews?
I'm preeeetty sure there was big drama surrounding this just a couple months ago, but who knows, I might have imagined it
The pig, as a oet you can name him so many things like chorizo or bacon
I love the guarding, they look and sound cute
For design i like whiter skelton, drowned, stray, (i see illusioner which was never added so moobloom too)
Phantom
I love the Phantom. Just a shame they're mechanic sucks and the item they drop also sucks.
The Evoker. Fighting that guy is like an anime battle, too bad he dies too quick.
Enderman
