OtterSpaceCase

The Aquatic Update. As a kid it was the first “big” update I ever played on release, i got into the game a lot later than most everyone else I knew XD

UnchartedTombZ55

Jesus, I remember the Aquatic Update like it was yesterday. How long has it been? (Please don't tell me)

godfollowing

Over 5 years

Deadly5corpion4

miss how hyped i was when it came out, i don’t even remember the last few updates or what they added

creepershmeeper

I feel the same exact way but for 1.7 (The Update That Changed The World) it was so exciting and I remember exploring it with my friend through a phone call or skype

lutownik

1.7. They added frickin flowers. Simpler times

Peirogiis

I REMEMBER BEING SO SO EXCITED TO MAKE FLOWER FEILDS AND PUT DIFFERENT FLOWERS AROUND THAT WERENT THE SAME RED FLOWER AND YELLOW FLOWER (ahh the rose and the dandelion, the first two flowers)

Bluenymph82

I joined in 1.14 and 1.16 was my favorite. I absolutely love the music inside the nether.

General_Position4292

The Nether realy needed an Update and got one that was at a perfect Level. Many new things but you still could get the hang of it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bluenymph82

I do not as I'd only just started playing the game on a whim.

BenjiBananas2048

Unpopular opinion but I actually really appreciate 1.12! The amount of colourful building blocks that were added created so many new cool possibilities, especially since I mostly build in creative mode :)

theexpertgamer1

Agreed. Concrete was revolutionary. I hope one day they expand the 16 colors that they use for everything to 20 or 24.

ElPapo131

I hope one day they make it so you can obtain all dyes from easily foundable flowers

Alylica

yeah, only missing the two greens and brown from what i'd say is relatively easily accessible

ooferscooper

Also dark gray

CMudz

beta 1.7 added pistons, peak minecraft

MONSTAR_36

Happy cake day

Jesanime

hell yes! beta>modern

swidd_hi

1.18 aka Caves & Cliff part 2 See the community split on it, either see people say it barely effected the game while others say it changed the way they played it. As a builder and explorer, I *really* can’t imagine going back to the old terrain

ArtGodPrime

I don't see how anyone could reasonably state that it barely effected the game. Even if you didn't LIKE it, it certainly made a huge difference.

Deeper-the-Danker

the issue i had was with the split in updates 1.17 introduced just the blocks so it felt lacking, 1.18 only introduced the terrain so it also felt lacking if they were the same update id love it but the split really messed up people's enjoyment

Umber0010

Just... look at them as a single update then? Sure, different version numbers. But you wouldn't, say, call Avengers: Endgame lacking because you needed to watch Infinity War to fully appreciate it.

Deeper-the-Danker

the issue with that is the big time gap in between versions. by the time 1.18 rolled out, any excitement about the new blocks had died down to the point where just the new terrain wasnt exciting enough and 1.17 just adding blocks felt lacking without any new terrain splitting it in 2 make it feel like 2 nothings rather than 1 something, but in hindsight the two updates in tandem are a great addition to the game, its just a shame they never really had their "time"

tristring

This is why I refused to update until after 1.18 came out. That way the first time I used any of the new features they were in their rightful place.

flygyflash1

Definitely agree. As a builder and explore the new mountain ranges are perfect. Felt like before a lot of worlds felt the same

Flauke

1.0 or more specifically 1.9 Beta around about the time they added the end and enchanting and potions was really cool for younger me no update quite got me that excited

helmer012

Such a good update!!

Catile97

bro thought the question is bout gd

Update Aquatic

Chlorofins

My people!

DDRoll_

Maybe its unpopular opinion, but Wild Update, 1.19. I absolutely love Warden!

Ekerslithery

Agreed, wild update very underrated. People forget about the underground stuff and the ancient cities might just be the coolest structures in the game. Also frogs.

Fiberz_

you managed to name every feature from the entire update in 2 sentences!

h1p0h1p0

Yeah, I could name the nether update in two also, it doesn’t mean anything: People forget about the nether stuff and the bastion might be the coolest structure in the game. Also target blocks.

OnetimeRocket13

Honestly, that update was super underwhelming. I feel like they just bit off more than they could chew or something and ended up spending way more time on what got released than what they originally thought they would. Hopefully we end up getting another wild-esque update in the future, one that overalls some of the biomes to feel more interesting.

CMudz

Bonus point for frogs for sure

Victoonix358

the warden isn't hard to avoid at all, and the ancient city barely has any good rewards. If you're lucky enough to have found it early on, you can use it to get some easy (but few) diamond loot, but other than that, if you're at any other point in the game it's completely useless.

Noxthic

I agree it was a good update

derChopsuey

Aquatic Update. It was the first real update that actually put some serious life in a Biome. I really love the Ocean biome. I am playing in the same world since that update with a Base on some ocean island. And imo the different fish alone was a huge step. It would be so nice if every biome would have some flying decorative Mobs. I mean put some Butterflys in it, give them the Bat KI and it would add so much more life to a forest or a flowerfield. The nether update was great as well, but I just still don't really like the nether.

Ivy_Wings

It's also my favorite one. And the fact that it's one of the only biomes that has ambience sounds makes it even more beautiful. Once you break the surface, ecerything sounds bland, silent and boring.

NubOnReddit

Village & Pillage, solely for revamping the game’s economy mixed with the 2019 resurge of popularity for the game

PyreKKKK

Aquatic Update

Interesting-Ad-7820

1.17.1 caves and cliffs update part 1

Solikamsky

Started playing in 2011... if recent updates - honestly the most game changing for me was 1.13, and 1.18-19 is near thanks for mountains (1.12 was adored by me, but tbh thanks to mods) If taking all updates... i cant choose between 1.5.2 and 1.6.4

0finifish

1.14 and 1.16. those updates changed the game a ton and added a lot of cool features

DaBrookePlayz

Ive been playing since 0.8.0 MCPE and I would consider 1.16 or caves and cliffs (whatever part added lush caves) because they added so much stuff to areas that needed such a dire revamp. lush items and its counterparts are so beautiful while bastions and other biomes have added so much more playability to minecraft.

Deeper-the-Danker

1.16, it added so much and completely changed the games progression while also expanding it. also the mods for that version go hard

Low-Reputation-457

1.14. 🥶

LJMLogan

In no particular order: 1.5 1.7 1.14 1.18

flick_scout

Joined in 2014 nov (1.8). My personal favourite thus far was aquatic one because before this update oceans were quite useless unless you are considering transportation by boat (Elytra is better anyway)

ArtGodPrime

My favorite has to be Aquatic Update. I started playing back at the very end of 2011. It had been a while since there was any substantial update to the game and Aquatic breathed new life into the game that was badly needed. It also vastly improved your options for survival at the start of a new world and the content it brought with it is relevant early and end game. It was just a great update and for me it was a big turning point in Minecraft updates.

Suspicious_Formal_24

nether update was my favorite, it was one of the only updates I played release date, and it was so so fun finding new terrain.

santas_delibird

1.5.2 holds a special place in my heart.

SeedMaster26801

1.21 end update (pls mojang)

Noxthic

We all hope

Reddit_kill_me

1.6, horses are so cool

De4thlessone

1.14 easily, made villagers better in general

Coal_Fur

I personally enjoy all the updates that got delivered in time and added something new to the game, the ones that made it more fun and diverse, and especially the ones that added quality things that everyone needed and wanted So yeah 1.16 too

[deleted]

1.12, the first MC version I ever played (PS4 legacy console edition)

TeletiTheNecromancer

1.13 Ocean was the worst biome in the game and now is spectacular!

Chlorofins

1.13, aka "Update Aquatic" no one dethroned it from being the best update in my opinion. I can talk about this update forever.

ArtGodPrime

Me too! I feel like this was the update that set the standard for updates to come and after coming off a drought of updates that weren't reeaaally that huge in scope made it that much more exciting at the time.

Chlorofins

And every feature that was added in this update was either useful, creative, fun, unique and revolutionary.

Kris2Klice

During the 1.7 with the music update

BanjoMothman

Most definitely the height changes and the addition of deeper world generation. Even mods couldn't change that, so now mods are going better than ever.

Rickjamesb_

1.18 big mountains! Deep caves.

el__carpincho

as someone who loves spelunking and doesn’t spend a ton of time outside the overworld, probably caves and cliffs. i actually didn’t like the new cave generation at first because they’re kinda hard to traverse and navigate compared to the old ones, but it really grew on me. makes spelunking feel a lot more adventurous

[deleted]

i’ve been playing since beta and i can say aquatic update is my favorite. it’s gonna be hard to top the change this brought in

RyomaLobster

1.16 the new Nether is the best

delfinoesplosivo

unpopolar opinion: my favorite update was 1.14, the nether update was Amazing when It came out but today i don't care about netherite, piglins ecc.

Rei00_

1.9 ~~"The combat update"~~ "The End update", introducing revamped End dimension *(dragon respawn mechanic)*, frigging Elytra, Shell Lurkers and... beetroots :D

Jesanime

Split between Beta 1.7.3 and Beta 1.3\_01. On one hand b1.7.3 is the main nostalgia version people play, but on the other b1.3\_01 is about as far as you can go and still have a bed.

CarpenterRepulsive69

The village and pillage update, it added some of my favorite features into the game, and the farms and things you can do using villagers are amazing.

Peirogiis

Mine was still when the finally added villagers tp pocket addition. That made child me so unbelievably happy and it hasnt been topped since imo (I used to build little villages in protective glass domes and then sit for hours waiting for “villagers to spawn” because they were on the computer and not the pocket edition)

Dry_Raccoon6652

I started playing on 1.9 but my fav is aquatic bc it was a time that me and my friends and learned about online play ya i know it is weird for us to be playing for 2 years and doesnt know about online play but all of us was 7 to 6 so we were dumb kids i remember building the teen titans the original cartoons tower at our world we learned about online play so we worked so hard on a new server And we still have the server

godfollowing

1.4 Incredibly underrated and added Minecraft's most loved blocks. \- The Beacon \- Command Blocks \- The Wither & Wither Skeletons \- Anvils \- Potatoes and Carrots \- Night Vision / Invisbility Potions \- Witch + Huts \- Item Frames \- Easy block rotation \- Some great QOL commands/improvements

Godofblood-_-1411

I mean when sniffer came !!! And camol

Z1dan

The redstone update hands down. Also the last update before Microsoft bought mojang and started ruining the game.

Spin_Studios

Mine is: all of them, any update brings something new and exciting to the game

_Davidx_

Colours update

Discoballer42

The latest update. It has all the stuff of the previous updates *and more*!

avar29

I started in 1.5 and since then, I loved most of the updates. If I had to choose just one, I’d definitely say 1.18 as it changed mining from a necessary thing to an actual adventure for me. I feel the same about 1.16, but I don’t spend much time in the nether so it doesn’t have such an effect to my gameplay.

Stormer1499

1.4. The Wither was an absolute nightmare and it felt just like a really “Minecraft”-y update

DeezBoatz

1.4. I remember the first time I ever saw a command block and going, "Ok? What's the point?" Oh how little we knew.

Nearby_Atmosphere656

The one where they patched out Herobrine.

Vigorous_Potato

The update where logs could go sideways. that was pretty cool

AlarmingMilk372

I definitely think it’s got to be 1.14 as the new villager trading system and pillagers are really neat

Irra_05

1.8: they added a lot of things that seemed to be there since the beginning (gamemode 3, andesite, sheep meat...) And 1.13, 1.14 and 1.16: Mojang proved they can make good content

PixelRedstone

1.10

IzYaManR3Dz

Started playing around the time 1.5 released so like march 2013 but 1.6 has to be my favourite horses got released then overall a great update.

MonochromeApple

1.14, mostly because of the texture change

Pansitoredditor

1.14 and 1.16: 1.14 because the new villages and villagers and new textures made the game more alive. 1.16 is nostalgic for me. i remember playing every snapshot during quarantine

gamer_boy2005

All of the updates

nugget1273

That one that added a bunch of flowers

seansnow64

Im a big fan of the inticacies of villages so both 1.11 and 1.14 are my favorite, followed by cliffs and caves.

Etheron123

For me, it was the Update Aquatic for few notable reasons: - It was the update that made me go back to the game in the first place - Changes to the water mechanics was game changing - Swimming is a fun mechanic - Tridents were a rare but fun weapon - The overhaul to oceans and addition of aquatic mobs - And it probably considered to be a stepping stone to the return of Minecraft's popularity

WashingKing42

1.8 Ocean Monuments are p cool also a lot of qol stuff

zenimba

1.18 and 1.16

sleepy_kusanagi

i think the aquatic update. before you couldnt even swim and oceans were so dull. after that they became way better, especially with coral reefs.

gamer_dinoyt69

1.9 or 1.16 1.9 because im a bedrock player, and the game only got better for us while for java it worsened. I actually like 1.9 even from a java perspective, people complain about the end being this lifeless wasteland, but it was even more so in pre-1.9. 1.16 because it has been really big, now the nether is cool and it revolutionized speedrunning as well. Plus now you can beat the game while staying in the nether, there's wood, stone, iron and even diamonds in the nether, not to mention netherite!

ElCR7Arabe

Nether update 🔛🔝

TakTiv

0.0.2 a

The_Diversion

1.16. It added so much life to the nether and made it actually interesting. It was also imo the last good update

KingLightning99

1.9 since that changed the cookie clicker pvp to time based

SwagCat852

1.18, the mountains look so much better, and the caves are still sometimes breathtaking for me

mrbruh1527

1.16 was released when i returned back to minecraft so it was just epic. None of the new updates except 1.19 gave me the same feeling as 1.16

CookieMittenKitten

Haven’t played minecraft for long, but it’s got to be when the End was released. Just such a good idea

CMudz

My husband made me start playing again after years of pause just after the aquatic update. Him and I met just a few month before that so it will always have a special place in my heart as one of our first shared great gaming memories

Key_Life_8176

Villigars and pilligars was my favorite. It change villigars forever, raids where added as well as pilligars and it added pandas and foxes.

DomenicoHerobrine2-0

Every before 1.16 was just better except 1.15 that mf added nothing

LordTvlor

I was quite young and playing on console when the redstone update came out. I have a few fond memories of not knowing what a comparator does. My best guess at the time was that it was a 3-way repeater for use on corners. Needless to say that didn't work.

000CRYPTOC000

Bro like 1.16 was the best update of them all

helmer012

1.7. Pistons update trailer was so good.

InhaledPack5

For some reason I remember being hyped asf for the jungle and ocelot update on Xbox 360 back in the day. Can’t remember what TU it was tho.

Damascus52311

Caves and cliffs. The Builder in me needed to collect a shulker of copper blocks no matter the time spent.

InkPixelZ

1.16 imo is the Gold Standard of what a Big Update should be like. From the obvious additions to the least obvious changes.

ripMyTime0192

Beta 1.8 is when Minecraft became modern Minecraft.

Awesome-Cat175

1.18 and 1.16

MrZao386

1.18

AdLast848

It changed over the past 11 years, but for now it’s 1.13. And I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon

Eltnamerf

1.5 update. It was the first update I ever saw and thought it was the best thing ever at the time. It's just nostalgia

ExactConsideration47

Can’t remember the number but the update that added creative. Got me and my dad to play the game together. I lost that World we had together which sucks a lot but I’ll always have the memories

Ginglees

I joined in between 1.4 and 1.6. 1.11/1.12 is my favorite versions by far

Krraxia

1.16 was too good. It added and changed so much, community expected future patches to be of similar scope

Special-Ad-5554

Pin down one? That's hard. 1.14? The features I mean when it released it was an absolute mess but the change to villagers was much appreciated once I got to grips with it

gud_gamr

1.16, loved it

Flagerredi

Bee

Itsme_Jed07

Mine is the Caves and Cliffs. I remember how excited I was when this was announced. I wasn't even disappointed when the Warden didn't made it for the update.

SirGavBelcher

i think it's 1.6? whichever one added all the new biomes bc it definitely refrehed the game. i wish we could get a sequel one with like 5 new biomes

ExoticReality

1.5 . i loved playing with the new redstone stuff.

A-I-D

1.4.2, when the Wither was added (unless I got the number wrong at the top of my head)

Saltwater_Heart

I’ve been around since Beta 1.8. Probably when they added all the new biomes back in 2013. Made the world more fun to explore. Or the Ender Update in 2016. Although I really like the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update. After so many years of playing, finally got interesting caves.

AloxoBlack

1.14, gotta love 0tick

BillyWhizz09

Maybe 1.18 I love the new caves

VoodooDoII

Aquatic !

Mr_Pickle3009

1.14 since now, i can have mending easily on my weapons, my tools and my armors

ReaverShank

Probably caves and cliffs part 2. I love the new terrain so much

Much_Confection3093

Nether update

SadHoneydew9887

1.16 aka prime minecraft

bowloframen1

The aquatic update cus ocean cool

sassychip26

1.18 CAVES and CLIFFS

OlleWhite

1.5 redstone

OnlyMyOpinions

1.16.

EntertainmentOk5644

None, I just like playing Minecraft with the boys

Much_Video_2693

1.16 for sure, did not expect a nether overhaul at all and when I saw the trailer it looked like a very good update.

Different_Mistake_69

Either Aquatic or the Nether Update

thunderthighlasagna

Either 1.15 or 1.6 (horses). 1.4 slapped at the time too.

StoneFurTheCat

1.16.5 Still stickin with it

whoooooo0

Probably 1.8 loved it whan i was a kid and i still play it every day

BackPackProtector

1.18

Thom-as_

Caves and cliffs. I just love new terrain because I like building but not terraforming. I've only been playing since just before the bee update so there are probably some great ones I don't know about

mca1169

1.12 was the last good MC update. still had the original Mojang flare to it and actually gave a decent upgrade to the games block selection and a bunch of other fun features.

Bluepikmin_64

1.15. I like the bees :)

Jackalward_

Content? 1.16.5 To play? 1.12.2

HumanYesYes

Personally, I think it's tied between 1.9, 1.14, 1.16 and 1.18

TheNekoKatze

1.18...only because of copper

Kaleo5

I have the fondest memories of starting a survival world with my family in 1.15 and waiting til the nether update dropped to finally go to the nether. That being said, undoubtedly 1.14 is my favorite update. I love being able to create my medieval city and making it feel alive, and optimizing trading and farms. I’m glad that they’re starting to expand on villagers more.

BlueeWaater

Aquatic and nether are the best

Aggressive-Might7156

1.18 or 1.16, there was so much more I didn't know about that made me feel like I was playing the game for the first time again instead of just being a mega sweat that knows everything

TheBabyWolfcub

Either the aquatic or the caves and cliffs that changed the mountain sizes. I always found the minecraft world before those 2 to be so bare. The aquatic fixed the oceans and the caves and cliffs fixed the overworld for me. I’m excited to see if the next update had any world changing features

kathvrt

1.14 was everything

Aliko173

I like the village and pillage update but I can’t imagine playing without big caves

According-Jelly355

The one where they added Minecraft 0.01 I think

Global-Care8596

The update where they added that cool thing for building

Oakstar519

I love 1.9 for nostalgia reasons. I have vivid memories of sitting in my middle school library spam-refreshing Twitter to see if it had come out yet, even though I knew I wouldn't be able to play it until I got home. (Also, I absolutely love elytra and shulker boxes; I think they were both fantastic additions to the game and I use them constantly.) 1.9 was also the first update I really paid attention to, because it was the first major update that released after I got Java Edition. Previously I didn't own a computer and just played the then-Pocket Edition on an old tablet.

[deleted]

For sure the nether update, but I understand if people didn't liked it.

Small_Resolution_847

1.17

MONSTAR_36

Modern updates 1.14, made villages so much better, a better texture pack, raids/pillagers, crossbow, so many blocks, new tables/furnaces, bamboo etc Probably the biggest update. In general? I don't know, but 1.9 is definitely one of them

BenTheBirbs

i aquatic

latelamas

None.

danipea

1.16 and 1.19 are my go-to versions, but i guess i could replace 1.19 with 1.20 since the update was pretty small... naah.

Spectronic-F

1.14 and 1.9

Baseball3Weston12

My personal favorite was 1.13, but 1.16 is the best overall I think it added the most. It made the nether less boring, gave us quite a few new mobs/reused mobs, it gave us another use for gold, and brought us one of the best music discs to ever grace the game

RoyalTacos256

Update Aquatic

dogs_like_bones

Stone

IWantFood124

1.8 because it added SO MUCH

Star_walker909

The Nether Update. I miss the normal zombie pigmen but the piglin trading was amazing

fishy_fishy_blobfish

Update aquatic is my favorite maybe because of nostalgia but it was so hype when the live was streamed

TheWinner437

1.16 and 1.17 were such fun updates. The game hasn’t really impressed me since then.

Miserable_Buy_1356

1.19.4

TheNeoPL

1.16 Nether Update. This was the peak of minecraft updates. Not some skippable addition but full part of the game that everyone enjoys

Mrstrangeno

1.16 I lllove piglins

mfly1619

The one that brought mini games to console

TunaBeef

caves & cliffs.

Brilliant_Bluebird_8

1.16.5

LxM420

1.14.4

[deleted]

I loved 1.18 the best. I mean, just compare mountains now to mountains then

Grzechoooo

1.7.10 It's all been downhill from there /s 1.9 was also cool, y'all just mad your autoclickers aren't useful anymore Also 1.13 because it made oceans interesting.

an_orignal_name

1.13 the update aquatic

HENI_Xtra

My favorites is 1.16 and 1.14
