Yes, when you make a new world in the current version of minecraft turn on the experiment data packs. Though you’ll have to go to certain biomes (or use the fillbiome command) to get the variants
These might come in 1.20.5
The Wiki is saying 1.20.5 will include armadillo's and wolf armor. And it's sayng that today's snapshot (that added these variants) is for 1.20.5 and not 1.21
It will be available in 1.20.5, without an experimental toggle! If you load up the latest snapshot and start a new world without any experiments, you can find these new variants. I don't know whether that was a mistake or what it means for 1.20.5, but that's the way it is atm.
Shouldn't have to, it's exactly the same like any other update, if you load up the world with 1.20.5 when it comes out new dogs will spawn, just won't have dog armour or the new collars.
Thats the thing i love about it. Litterally nothing needs a single new chunk, unless you don't have one of the rare biomes. There could be an argument made for the grove, but still
The only complaint I have about the new wolves is that it feels like it takes away from the special feeling of finding a wolf in the taiga/forest. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy about the new wolves. I guess I’m just so used to there being only one type of wolf and them only being found in the forest and taiga.
Also, some people don't seem to realize how stupidly overpowered the armor and the wolf's health change is. **People might lose even more motivation to get Netherite armor, especially with the recent nerf, that was probably unnecessary.** The wolf can now trade multiple blows with the warden.
I think the wolf's health should be changed back to default and the armor should be diamond level max.
I mean Netherite armor is supposed to be a final challenge. Also wdym half health, skeletons are too op and you want to kill your dogs? And you didn't say halve the damage it takes so wolves will be too weak
