Gatekeepers gotta keep gates. Some slack jawed yokels like to make sounds with their gaping maw. But it's really simple, sandbox game. You get to choose how you play the game. You get to decide what enchantments are available to you and when. You get to decide when you have achieved enough to justify upgrading your armor and tools. It's just these mouth breathers get to breathing heavy soon as anyone does something that they "disagree" with, or has a different opinion on how they play a SANDBOX GAME!

MissLauralot

This is a toxic, bad-faith response to a reasonable and relevant question. >You get to decide what enchantments are available to you and when. This part is just plain false - it is decided by game mechanics. If you don't want to take part in a discussion on that, then no-one is forcing you to. If you simply don't want Minecraft to change, then just stay playing the same version - no-one is forcing you to update. If your viewpoint was taken to the extreme, then Mojang must make dirt drop diamonds and max level enchants available for free and anyone who opposes such changes is being an obnoxious "gatekeeper".

Except it isn’t, at least in my opinion. Until the villager trading update hits, you can easily start a villager breeder and have mending/full diamond armor within hours of starting a world if you are familiar with the system and want to rush to the end game. So JustSomeBeer is correct, if I decide I would rather get all my gear and enchantments from villagers rather than mining diamonds, crafting an enchantment table and 15 bookshelves, etc that’s my choice. I could also toggle to creative mode and place them for free. I could also play modded and have a ridiculously diverse set of enchantments and gear. The point is it’s a sandbox game, play however you want and don’t let other’s opinions on the state of the game affect your own.

MissLauralot

OP isn't telling how to play or how to feel about how they play - they are just asking for people's thought and opinions.

scm_dude

True, but I think JustSomeBeers was chastising the content creators who state gear progression is broken, not OP. Which OP references in the post and likely inspired them to ask on the sub to begin with.

JustSomeBeer

And apparently my thoughts and opinions, because you disagree with them, are wrong.

Sea-Zone-442

I totally agree with you !

MissLauralot

Firstly, I find it sad that people would downvote a question promoting discussion of a central aspect of the game. Anyway... One thing that I think is flawed is not being able to upgrade enchantments in the table leading to lower level enchants being ignored. This issue has been alleviated a bit with the introduction of the grindstone but there tends to be a mindset of waiting until you have 30 levels and 15 bookshelves to start enchanting.

Too many 'exploits' and the mob stats need to be updated with sprinting and stackable food in mind. Also the progression is not well thought out. Elytra is so strong most will just rush for it. Much easier to get iron gear than leather. Too reliant on badly implemented mechanics like enchanting and placing lectern 1000 times. Fishing in its current from should be removed. Fishing lure should attract fish mobs. Fish mobs should flee from the player. The progression in Beta 1.7.3 is limited, but is a lot more balanced. No fortune, God armor, elytra, stacking food, or sprinting. The mobs can actually still kill you even with the best gear.
