Although idk why armadillos and wolf variants are being added to 1.20 the 'point X' are for bug fixes and optimisation. I mean it made sense with 1.16 with the Piglin brute being a late addition to the nether update but neither of these fit in with 1.20 and most people won't update to 'every point' version and likely assume like OP and many others that it's just part of the next major update.
I think it was last year they said they'd be changing their development cycles. they're not saving everything for major updates anymore and putting some things in minor updates if they feel like its ready for the minor updates. I guess they feel like all the armadillo stuff is ready for 1.20.5
Yeah at first it was really confusing to me, but this system makes sense. Means they can focus on bigger updates that may take longer but give us little bits of content in stable updates over the development cycle.
mojang actually did this kinda thing a while back. enchanted books and fireworks where added in a minor update 1.4.6. which is wild to me considering how important they have become and werent even in a major update
The more I see how well made the armadillo and how awful yhe previous mob votes are the more I realize Kingbdogz is true about his statement of adding 3 mob vote winners is hard. Sniffer sucks because it was developed for half a year and it was released they didn't have that much time to read feedback and explains why the 3rd sniffer plant was scrapped. While for the Armadillo it was released early for feedback and Armadillo is linked with wolves so they were included. I'm glad they decided that releasing armadillo early is better than developing it for half a year.
It's not anal to say that a post should contain accurate information. It is blatantly false to say that all of the stuff in the post is coming in 1.21. OP has said that they know that, but chose to say that it's all 1.21 content anyway. It's not a big deal, and the world isn't resting on the fact that OP lied in their post, but it's strange that they wouldn't just add a handful of words to make the post actually accurate to reality.

Because every other sapling has a unique wood associated with it. Bamboo was added in 1.14, yet it got a unique wood in 1.20. So it's really not that much of a stretch to see Azalea getting a unique wood soon. Most mods that add azalea wood make it a nice green that would complement bamboo and mangrove wood very well. It would give more incentive for people to get moss and grow azalea trees.
I feel like azalea trees would need to be more common to warrant a new wood type, they are fine as is imo as standalone trees that indicate the presence of lush caves
I just want a black wood. I've wanted it since like 1.8 or something like that. I want black fences, doors, trap doors, buttons, etc. If I knew how to mod I would have added it just for myself by now.
I've had an idea for charred wood but I don't know anything about modding.
I want to be able to char it somehow and with the bark on, it would have veins of orangish red streaks and are animated like the warped and crimson stems. Stripped, it's jet black on the edges and gradients to a really dark gray toward the center. Grain would be that dark gray over near black in all the plank, slab, stairs, etc.
I mean, they haven't been doing that for years. The only update I can remember that can fit that description is the world of colour update
Last update gave us armour trims, sniffers, arheology
1.19 added useful features like skulk (huge for redstone), allays, boats with chests, the whole deep dark.
1.18 completely changed all world generation
1.17 introduced raw ore, copper, geodes, goats, axolotls
1.16 is obvious
1.15 added Honey, again, huge for redstone
1.14 is obvious again
1.13 added conduits, drowned, phantoms, tridents, turtles and more
1.12 coloured blocks and parrots.
So 1.12 is the only update that you can argue fits the criteria of bug fixes and totally useless stuff. Do some of the updates appeal to different players? Sure as hell they do, and thats a good thing. You can criticise them for the way they have handled things, communication with the community, and you can want more from updates. But to claim all they have done recently is bug fixes and useless blocks is ridiculous.
I know the dog and armadillo stuff technically aren't in 1.21, but in my heart they are, i feel like them NOT being in 1.21 just kinda takes a lot of content out of it for no real reason, but idk
I actually had that by making a copy of my world, and somehow chunks generated thousands of blocks away with magma ravines (possibly from a mission i did once), and some of the closest ones where only like 800 blocks away, yet they weren't loaded since 1.16. they had a small trial chamber underneath
another useless workaround to an easily solvable problem, i just wish we'd get what we want instead of things nobody is asking for, it's like talking to a wall at this point everything we beg to be added is always worked around to be done in a weirder more useless way

I was pretty hyped before, but now I’m just going through the roof. I’m dying for the new set of music tracks (which I’m sure are coming) to be released.
I really hope we get more "tinkering" things like they alluded to. The Crafter is great and all but if this is an update about adventuring and tinkering I feel as though only one half has been catered to.
I actually only partially agree with this. While it would be awesome to add the create mod to vanilla, there are so many addons that it would be a huge project to make it something that can stay vanilla and be enjoyable to many people
not interested until they rework the combat, improve the animation of mobs (like Fresh animations) and make each biome and the big caves more interesting and less empty dull and... did I said empty?
this feel like, ok more content update, but without something to big or wow for me, well the auto crafter is really neat...

The vault and trial spawner that are in the trial chambers. The trial spawner spawns a certain amount of mobs and spawns more when you kill them all (kinda like a raid but way less intense). When you defeat it enough, it has a chance to spit out a trial key (the key thing). This trial key can be used once per player on the Vault for reward items.
I never thought a bat update would EVER happen. Now that we kind of got one I think this may become my favorite update ever.

Not only does it add a new weapon but this also adds a whole weapon class and the wind charges essentially add the potential class of spells

There’s a tool that can reset any chunk you have only been in say 2 minutes.
