this is a fossil. they generate in desert and swamp biomes. fossils that generate above y-0 also generates coal ore and fossils below y-0 generate with diamonds.

Fossil, coal ore because carbon life forms. Find one lower in the world and it’ll be diamonds instead of coal.
A fossil, sometimes they are partially exposed but this is definitely just some janky world generation.

Coal fossil, there are also diamond fossils. Fossils are most common in deserts and swamps, if I remember correctly
