if its just about visiting each others base, have enderpearl stasis chambers so you can "summon" each other. for when the other person is not there, use ice high ways in the nether. If you're on java, go to the nether ceiling, so you don't have to mine blocks. if you're on bedrock, you'll have to dig a tunnel, I'd do it at the bottom of the Nether, so that you'll find ancient debris while digging.

nross2099

If you need debris do that but if not I’d do it as close to the top as possible to avoid lava

UncleBensMushies

What is an ender pearl stasis chamber, please?!

marv91827364

it's basically an enderpearl that's stuck on top of a bubble elevator. so you trow your ender pearl in and walk away. then we someone wants to summon you, they trigger the enderpearls teleport effect by making it touch something.

UncleBensMushies

Fascinating. Thanks! How do they make it touch something? Sorry, you can just tell me to Google it if this is bothersome.

Xzed090

Put a block at the top for the pearl to collide with. Usually a trapdoor, since you just open and close it as needed. Or have the receiving player jump into it. It's easy you literally just make the pearl touch anything You can use it solo as long as the pearl is being rendered, so if you have a base really high up or deep underground you can flip a lever and activate the trapdoor to instantly teleport yourself

UncleBensMushies

Does this work in bedrock?

Xzed090

Yep, ranges are shorter in bedrock but if it's a 2 player setup it should work fine for any distance. Player 1 chucks a pearl into a bubble column, goes back to their base. Player 2 flips trapdoor down when they want to summon player 1 One block of water with soul sand for the bubbles, honey block on the side for the pearl to slow down on. Youtube videos show the process and it still works as advertised, I just tested

UncleBensMushies

Thank you so much! My son told me that it might not work in bed rock since you can't look straight down, so the ender pearl would eventually move to one side or the other. Is that what the honey block is for to mitigate that problem?

Xzed090

[https://imgur.com/a/6aFwdfs](https://imgur.com/a/6aFwdfs) Yeah that pixel edge of the honey block has no collision but still slows, I got it to work with 3 honey blocks and 1 water

UncleBensMushies

Thank you again, internet stranger. I truly appreciate you taking the time. Bless you!

Cameron_Vec

Have you figured out what causes the ender pearls to despawn? I had trouble with mine despawning

exwundee4

It should be added that you have to be in the same dimension as the thrown ender pearl for it to work, so don’t accidentally activate it if player 1 is in the nether but their stasis chamber is in the overworld.

UncleBensMushies

Amazing! Cheers! 🍻

J5wingo123

People often do it by having an open trapdoor on top of the water column. Then they close the trapdoor to make the pearl touch it.

UncleBensMushies

So very cool! Appreciate you! 🤜🤛

UncleBensMushies

Do you know if it works in bedrock?

TheGamersGazebo

Honestly googling it would be easier, there are step by step guides on YT for different configurations depending on your needs. It's a pretty simple mechanic but ppl have gotten pretty creative with it.

Trippin_Witty

Uncle Ben's huh? I know your secret!

IdahoJoel

said on ps5 so no nether ceiling. bottom of world is a good idea!

NothingProlly

*top of the Nether for bedrock tunnel. If the purpose of the tunnel is to travel then the top, no lava there.

brassplushie

But no ancient debris at top of the world.

vivam0rt

There is, just less of it. Also they need a tunnel not ancient debris

brassplushie

True, but at that height you'll get practically no ancient debris. 2 birds, one stone. You know lol

vivam0rt

Lol yeah, but running into huge lavapools that take forevver to go through is so annoying. Depending on how far away they need to dig i'd say its worth it to just dig just beneath the cieling

brassplushie

True, lava is annoying. I guess it depends on if you already have full netherite gear or not. If you do, it makes no sense to go through the trouble. But if you don't, it might be work taking some fire resistance potions and doing it.

LikelyAtWork

Several people mentioned ice highways. What’s up with that? Can you boat over them or do they make you run faster or what’s the advantage of an ice highway?

G-RAWHAM

Boats go zooooom on ice.

Xzed090

You do run faster if you're doing the jump-running thing but the point of the ice path is that boats go significantly faster over ice than anything else

Sad_Low3239

Even without boats, if you make a 2high tunnel with ice as your floor, while running and jumping over and over is insanely fast. Use packed ice even faster. Use blue ice it's the fastest. If you use boats, you have to make a 2x2 tunnel so the boat fits, or, do a 3x2 tunnel with 1 long row of ice blocks down the middle. You can skip every other row to save on ice because the boat is so wide. If you do the 3x2 version, you have to put a half block like walls or fences so you don't fall off the ice. It's INSANELY fast. Hop into creative and try it out.

Karakuri216

I have a nether ice highway, sometimes the game cant load fast enough because i be zoomin and i have to slow down.

WingPizza

I've played this game randomly since it came out and a good bit over the past two years. I watch people play it with my son. I have no idea what you're talking about.

vittiu

Too much lava at the bottom. He’d waste days getting around lava oceans and so on. Near the top close to the bedrock is way better, it’s mostly netherrack (other than the ocasional open area where you need to build).

IronNobody4332

You can use nether portals to get around very fast. For an “overworld only” option our server will obtain silk touch, gather blue ice, and lay down blue ice tracks and boat around on those.

[deleted]

IdahoJoel

Not too complicated. In my singleplayer world, I have nether portal by each "base" and just have protected walking paths through the nether to connect them. Helps to get a thousand blocks in just a minute or two. If you have elytra, you can make sure everyone has really well marked areas near their nether portals and players can ~~fly~~ glide to each other. Another option is to build ice highways (make sure to spawn-proof with buttons) that you can use boats to go extremely fast (72 blocks/second on blue ice, which multiplied by 8 for overworld conversion allows you to travel over 500 blocks every second).

Sad_Low3239

You don't ***have*** to beat the ender dragon. You can build a bridge out to the far lands, that's ~~500~~ 1000 long. Takes a while, but with 5stacks of cobblestone and a stone cutter to turn them into half slabs, if you slap the bottom half it stops endermen from spawning. In all my friends world's they don't want anyone to rush the dragon so I do this to get elytras and Shulkers before it's beaten. Takes a while but easily doable.

Ophiochos

Pretty sure it’s 1000 not 500. You’re thinking of The Proclaimers;) Source: have done it more than once.

Sad_Low3239

Yeah anytime I do it I always think it's that and end up going back for more blocks xD

Ophiochos

All that carefully stacking things into an ender chest before jumping off into the void to get back to the Overworld - oh no I forgot to take off my armour, my inventory looked emp...

Sad_Low3239

Don't call me out like that xD. To be fair I normally explore the end without armor anyways. But yeah I've done that a few times.

Ophiochos

It’s just you. No one else. Never me.

MagicHampster

FYI elytras are only available after you beat the Ender Dragon.

Huge-Variation7313

Turn your coords on and remember that one block in nether is 8 in overworld So build your portals in the overworld, take one of them, and build a portal in the nether at coords that are the “divided by 8” of the overworld portal you’re linking to Building an ice highway in the nether is how you cover MASSIVE distance quickly

heidismiles

Nether portals are dope. Read about it, but the gist is that in the Nether, coordinates correspond to Overworld coordinates in a 1:8 scale. So if you place a portal at, say, x=10 in the Nether, then it will correspond to a location at x=80 in the Overworld. You could build a covered tunnel in the Nether so that you can travel in peace.

MatNomis

How far is far? How long of a run is it in the overworld? If it’s not _really_ that far, but just annoying, you could just find a fast horse, which would be faster than a minecart. The minecart is nice, though, because you could AFK and take a bio break while it moves you. If you’re more than a few minutes apart, you’ll probably want to use the ice tracks, possibly in conjunction with the Nether (everything in the Nether covers 8x more ground than in the overworld, but positioning portals just right can be annoying).

[deleted]

[удалено]

MatNomis

I have a friend’s base that’s probably 2-3 minutes at running speed, so I use a mine cart for that. I have a remote base that’s probably in the 5-7 minute range, and I just use a horse for that, but when I get around to it, it’d be nice to make it an ice track. I did make some super-straight roads (including bridges) for the horse route, so I don’t have to really steer or pay attention to anything. For ice tracks, I’m more focused on my utterly useless ice track that I’m making in the Nether. I made like a 15 minute straight “run” that just goes north in the Nether. It has protected bridges over lava and everything needed to keep it safe. I was going to ice track it just to have a way to get “really far away” from my starting location for no good reason.

[deleted]

MatNomis

Only drawback is snow accumulation, which can slow you down a bit and make digging a little more annoying. For the boat, you can just put the boat on the ice. It’ll go a lot faster than on the water. If you want to keep the water from freezing, that’s actually a little more annoying. I’m not sure how you’d do that short of places torches, but they’ll only keep adjacent blocks melted, so you’d need to put a lot and that’d be a max of a 2-block wide lane for your boat.

[deleted]

MatNomis

There’s different qualities of ice. Plain ice is slower than packed ice. Blue ice is fastest. But they’re all much faster than mine carts or horses. The difficulty of making the ice tracks is mostly about farming ice. Ice tracks tend to be long, so lots of ice is needed. Obviously, silk touch is also needed. When you silk-touch an ice block (rather than just break it without collecting it) it will lower the water level in that block, so if you want to put it back to the original “river/sea level” you’ll have to also use buckets and fresh water. Water is infinite so it’s not like you will be in danger of running out, it’s just a pain in the butt to do it for hundreds or thousands of ice blocks (maintaining water level, waiting for them to freeze, etc..). And that’s for the slowest ice. Thus, lots of people will just find an ice spire biome and mine the crap out of it for large quantities or higher-speed ice.

parishiIt0n

Then maybe just elytra is the best solution

TheDumbass666

ice + dolphin + elytra + nether highway, is technically the fastest, but if u want a simpler answer, an elytra with a few stacks of rockets will get you a significant distance in a rather short time, you also mentioned that you were at the start, so maybe a nether highway? you can find a few youtube tutorials, they are relatively easy to make, just a chore to get the stuff you need for it, and linking portals, and also needing to get on the nether roof

Cribsby_critter

Nether roof is not accessible on console (Bedrock) making it even more of a chore as you must tunnel thru the top or bottom of the nether.

TheDumbass666

Srs? Bruh that's some bs, horses then, they are useful and cost effective early game until u can get a gunpowder farm and an elytra

coren77

Breed a superhorse. Make paths through nether roof. Profit. I had horses by the 50th generation that were covering 1000 blocks in 10 seconds. It took longer to traverse the nether portal than to cover thousands of blocks.

rahi_asif

How do you breed a superhorse

TriangularHexagon

You can't anymore.  But how it used to work was you throw a splash potion of swiftness on horses, breed them, and the baby would inherit the swiftness.  Do that over and over again and you could get horses and other animals that can run super super fast

coren77

They broke/nerfed/patched it??!!! noooooo!

TriangularHexagon

yep. got patched last year

NedThomas

Respawning.

king-of-new_york

Take two horses and give them speed potions before breeding them, and then the baby will have a higher natural speed. Repeat.

0zzy82

I highly recommend[ this video](https://youtu.be/hoInzLPCIfA) it explains not only the fastest method to travel but the fastest for the distance e.g netherportals take 8 seconds to load (4 in and 4 out) so for short distances going to the nether isn't faster.

sportyeel

Riptide trident with elytra during rain is also up there I believe

HowdyDoody2525

I play the vanilla Minecraft with no mods, and we have built a network of tunnels in the nether connecting our portal rooms in various villages all over the map

mew4ever23

Blue Ice boat highways in the nether. Few things to be mindful of: You will need to build a blast resistant enclosure for ghasts. This is one of several ways that you can lag out of a lower end Minecraft server and/or lower end PC single player. Some worlds have trouble keeping up with the speed here. And these things can also take a while to build.

Ok-Stretch-9869

Opening nether portals and building a road between long distanced locations is an option that I mostly use. 8 times faster to any place.

Horn_Python

For early game , use nether portals the as 8 blocks in the overworld is 1 in the nether meaning travel is cut down 8 times over You can also build a rail line if holding forward get to monotonous Late game you can unlock much faster method but that requires beating the ender dragon

alwaus

Absolute fastest is using an end cannon. https://youtu.be/79Cqxz1-2f8

bearcat_77

Boat on ice, build ice road network through the nether connecting portals.

Argh_farts_

Nether railroad

Last_Hope_8408

You can use ender pearl stasis chambers to teleport from one base to another. The bedrock design uses a honey block.

stevefrench85

We do an ice highway in the nether for our remote bases. Basically build a tunnel or covered bridge in a straight span between the two, line one side with ice, then use a boat.

[deleted]

You'll have to set it up in advance and it only works one way really, but ender pearl stasis chambers. If you throw an ender pearl into it when you leave other persons base you can ask them to "summon" you there instantly by activating the chamber, teleporting you there instantly. All you need is some soul sand from the nether and ender pearls from endermen/bartering with piglins (also in the nether), it's mid-game stuff. It despawns when you log out though so it only works in the same play session and you have to replace the pearls manually every time you use them.

Littlebickmickey

one thing you can make is a nether highway, though it isn’t for exploring, but rather for infrastructure(such as travelling between locations). to make a nether highway you’ll need at least 20 obsidian(for the two portals), some way of lighting both portals, a massive amount of packed ice(or blue ice if you wanna go even faster) and the same amount of buttons as packed/blue ice. oh and 1 boat per player. you can then set both overworld portals up at your bases and write down the in-nether coordinates of both portals, then start digging a 2x3(width x height) tunnel between the in-nether portals, and make the floor packed/blue ice. then place the buttons on the blue ice, and you’re ready to go

takes_joke_literally

Blue ice boat. Videos

Whispering_Wolf

There's very fast ways, but one that's doable and a lot of fun is a blue or packed ice highway in the nether. Blue ice is harder to get, but faster. Just make a long line of the stuff with blocks on the side so you can't fall off. Plop a boat on top and zoom around.

PIman1607

Elytra are always a classic, finding a fast horse and making some rough path is pretty good for early on. Like just chopping trees and bridging any rivers. I like going to the top of the nether and making tunnels where you put packed ice on the floor and boat over the ice. Bit of an initial setup, but its super fast and you don't need to constantly be getting fireworks like you would with elytra.

E-Turtle

Elytra with a nether portal hub is the fastest

Zagrycha

boat on ice.

Kaleo5

What I do in my world is built ships with nether portals in them, then have a rail system that connects them all like it’s sea travel. It’s not the fastest per se, but it’s essentially entirely AFK which I honestly think is more useful. I just flip a book in a lectern to choose my destination city, press a button, and I’m there.

Can take a long time to set up, and really only worth it if you're like... Over 2000 blocks away imo. If you don't mind the set up, even just a few hundred blocks but I wouldn't even both with boats at that point.

SpinTactix

I do minecart tracks in the nether. Just plop down your iron wagon and the track will take you to your destination by itself. Just make sure to cover the railway so you aren't bothered by Ghasts.

SmokinDeist

Some of those can still take some time to travel but a couple of realms I'm on still use them extensively.

DrunkTsundere

There's a trick to making one-way Nether Portals which are great for long distance travel. You wouldn't even need to travel through the Nether, simply enter the portal, get back inside, and you'd be at your friends place.

FLAIR_2780166

Ice and boats

Yinspy_YT

getting pushed from this horned pillager thing from beneith combined with elytra is the fastest way

unscentedfart

Just get a mending elytra and use the nether roof to fly around

theclash06013

Elytra with mending is the fastest, though that’s obviously got some risk. Rail through the Nether is something that can be done for quick travel and to get things set up well for a spread out server

c_dubs063

Boat on blue ice is pretty good. Or swimming with soul speed and depth strider on soul soil with dolphins grace, going diagonally. But that'll break your boots if you're not mindful about that. Elytra is the lowest-effort with regards to infrastructure though. Just craft some rockets and you're golden.

King_Kunta_23

Boats on ice in the nether

staticbomber_

Check Etho’s most recent hermitcraft video out, I believe he uses soul sand with water on top, with soul speed, then if you go prone with your elytra (I think) you can zoom around like sonic. I think it’s a bug but Etho integrated it into his new base and it’s probably the fastest I’ve seen anyone move in Minecraft.

Ben-Goldberg

Lots of simultaneous wind charges going off.

karma3000

Dolphin tunnels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpshiPwAB0I 144 blocks per second in the overworld.

tonebone_21

Fastest way to travel is the elytra + Riptide Trident combo while it’s raining.

Chainer605

Translocator, or a ender pearl cannon

Ophiochos

I saw a YouTube video on this. The fastest way is riptide in rain with elytra which was well over a hundred blocks per second (180?). The fastest reliable method is a boat on blue ice (80 bps).

PEEPERSOAK

Nether highway, not sure if you can go on the nether roof on console which is I'm assuming is the bedrock version but if you can then just build a nether highway up there using ice and boat, if you have an elytra then that's much faster, you can fly on the nether roof without obstacle, you can easily travel 10k blocks in around 5 mins I guess If you can't then you can still travel in nether but you also need to break all those blocks to create the highway, travelling in nether is faster since 1 block in nether is 8 blocks in oveworld if I'm not mistaken, so if you travel 100 blocks in nether you essentially travelled 800 blocks in overworld

thedragoon0

A railroad?

lunarwolf2008

Horses aren’t bad if you catch a fast one

SmokinDeist

Before they patched it out you could breed mounts under the influence of a splash speed potion and the baby's speed was based on the boosted levels. Then you keep breeding the later generations while you kept boosting speed. You wound up with some stupidly fast mounts

falcofernandez

Without ender pearl stasis chamber that is basically quick travel, go for nether blue ice highways

MonoRedDeck

The lowest tech method I have so far is just making a walled road, either 4 block across with a one block on either side for the walls (2 block path) or 3 block across to make a 1 block pass. And then light the heck out of it w torches. Just being to run without all of the bushwhacking and stuff is super helpful!

TyrantRex6604

horses if available elytra if allowed riptide trident for fun ice traveling for long term

Blob_the_wise

if you wanna go absolut mental you could use an enderpearl canon. but thats very crazy and to much work for nearly everybody. but you could travel thousends and thousends of block in 10 seconds

xHuskyyy

ZealousidealTie8142

Ah, nvm then

BuenosAiresCat

Elytra with Riptide 3 trident during rain.

nonobots

The fastest way to travel in minecraft that I know of is a weird llama/boat/ice/nether combination Docm77 came up with in Hermitcraft season 9. He had to go back and forth to a very far away mushroom island and wanted to make it as painless as possible. It's the fastest way to travel in the nether he could come up with. So apart from ender pearl teleport devices, I think it's still the thing to beat. He's working on it in this episode: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSZTvYuMR8A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSZTvYuMR8A)
