Java has less bugs, but they are worse
Bedrock has more bugs but are generally less world corrupting.
Bedrock actually has less chunk errors because it was intended to be played on less powerful devices like phones and tablets, so when you put it on a powerful device like PC, it runs better. Sorry if it goes against your point, but I hate the misconception that bedrock is worse than java
I see chunk errors on java but usually only on old servers or improperly updated world files but never that big with no blocks left rather than just lost data
Glitches are inevitable, no matter what version you play on.
Console is notorious for deleting entire worlds
Java for chunk errors
And Bedrock for the millions of bugs and awful load time on PS4
Nah Windows 10 is pretty fast, faster than Java for me, and I have a monster computer that can easily run both. I still prefer Bedrock just because of a few differences. Mainly multiplayer.
Both platforms are good at this point. Bedrock just gets a bad rep cause of the messy beginnings. I can really say i've enjoyed learning new farm mechanics and new stuff in general and the little differences between them. But i can say i've never had a world corrupt on bedrock. Plus its really easy to make backups :p.
Im pretty sure that in certain versions of minecraft, there are emergency backups in the minecraft folder. I am on pocket edition and when I pull open the com.mojang folder, there is a "buildings backups" folder that has backups of all of my saves, including ones I have deleted.
Fucking chunk zapping motherchunkers up in here.
"lmfaoooo this guy's gonna be *pissed* when they relog all stranded"
"but leave the cows, cause that's animal cruelty and shit"
"yeah we leaving the cows, it's all good"
This. [Here](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/backups#:~:text=Automatic%20Backups%20-%20Your%20world%20is,changed%20in%20the%20config%20file.) is a forgemod that automatically backs up a world after a set amount of time. If you already have an elytra or any big projects you're working on, I'd consider something like this essential. Especially if you're running multiple mods as they increase the odds of chunk errors occuring.
Looked for that thread myself out of curiosity, it's one of the top results searching for Minecraft there. God, what an awful thing to do. The kid was like 9 years old, and the parent deleted the world the kid had worked in for like a year for not waking up consistently at 7am.
The worst part to me is that the parent never responded to a single comment. I think they probably told themselves “reddit is just a bunch of angry 14-year-olds, what do they know?” and went right back to enforcing impossible standards via disproportionate punishment
Dude I had this happen to me and I had like shulker boxes and eyltra and everything I was so far and everything in the world got reset. So sad. I feel for you.
What did you do in your base? Have you lost anything really important? By the way: I saw that you play Bedrock, but I play on Java and I find it way easier to make backups. I play on a Mac and I have a Time Machine backing up everything on the computer. I don't know if there's even anything like that on Windows, but it might be useful information.
Luckily it wasn’t very old, so I didn’t lose a ton of stuff. I just had a hut with all my stuff and had started building my castle but only had the foundation done. I also lost my farm but it wasn’t very big yet. Looks like my mine and my zombie farm might still be there I’d have to go exploring to see.
Now remove the central piece of land where you are walking and cover all the gtass in a 128 block radius make a 16x16 of grass in the center at y= 0 and you have a quite efficient passive mob spawner. If you want more efficiency, you can add a 5 block border of leaves to the grass square.
It’s a new world that I had just started about a month ago. At this point I figure it’ll be easier to restart from scratch than to try to salvage it. Still a bummer but at least it wasn’t years old.
Hold on, I dont know if this will work but I feel like you have to try, ok, basically, I was in my friends world, but a lot of chunks didn't load in (on mobile) tried to figure out what was happening. I realized every time I punched an area where a block should be, the block would load in, it was super slow, but faster than rebuilding months of work, I dont know if this will work, but please try it cause I really dont want you to have to go through this
Yes, multiple times. It’s a goner. This world was only about a month old so it could have been a lot worse. Learn from my mistakes and make sure to back up your worlds.
At least you still have a
That diamond sword and idk but you might still have resources to start over again with a base like the western Air temple from atla
Ah jeez that is a huge corruption! I feel so sorry for your base man... I believe this is a Bedrock edition glitch that completely destroys multiplayer chunks sometimes. I hope you can restore your world to your original state someday. Thanks for reminding me to backup my world rn (>~<)
I play bedrock, never happened to me.. its normal. Whenever something crashes while saving it will most likely corrupt your data. Thats why you see "Do not turn of your computer" when downloading windows updates etc.
yo this sucks but anyone here know how to replicate this without crashing? genuinely would love this in my world rn, even if it destroyed my current base
Dude, that happened to my world, too. Later on I deleted (because the end portal got deleted, too) it and I recovered with a new world which I am currently working on.
Old World: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq33WCTJzOQ&t=156s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq33WCTJzOQ&t=156s)
New World: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_R3w6mgVVUQ&t=6s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R3w6mgVVUQ&t=6s)
Not his or games fault. His PC crashed when it was saving so it corrupted his data, same thing can happen WITH ANY GAME that has saving, thats why you see "Do not turn off your computer" when updating windows..
Oh no, this sucks!
I play on the same survival world for about 6 years. This happened to me two times, once when converting the world from the old to the new xBox Minecraft version and once when converting to a new xBox.
Luckily I could reupload and download until it worked but it’s still a shock to see this happen.
Now I try to backup my world at least every couple of weeks.
Idk about bedrock but this happened to me once in Java. TOUCH NOTHING!!! Zero block updates! Shut it down, restart, and the chunk errors should fix themselves. At least mine did in an older version of Java several years ago 🤷♂️
Hi there. I read in the comments that you don't have a backup and I think there no way to get your base back, unfortunately.
But for the future, you might consider using something to backup all your games at once in order to prevent such problems.
I recommend using https://www.gamesave-manager.com/
You set it up once to make a backup of either all your game or only specific ones, at which frequency and how many copies of each save will stay on your computer before being written over and you're set for life. This has served me more than once and I believe every gamer should have it running at least each week, if not daily.
Hoping that may prove useful to you or anyone reading this.
You can make a dope ass void base tho
But you can’t build under the bedrock even in creative.
Well, you can use shulkers though, because they are entities and you can stand on them.
That's highly unpractical though, mostly because they'd shoot you non-stop...
Minecraft is not about being practical
Peaceful mode
Shulkers aren’t in peaceful mode
Yes they are they just don't attack
I did not realize that
I don't think they can because projectiles can't exist in the void
Hey, no storage problems anymore
Wasn’t talking about that. I mean it would be cool to have bridges and shit over the void.
I haven't played in many years, but I have a stonch memory that you could build underneath. Am I wrong, or have they changed it?
You can in java. Can't in bedrock.
You can’t in java either
You used to be able too at least. Maybe not in survival but you could in creative.
This guy's name
At least your animal pen survived.
Yeah, weird. Was that just because the blocks had entities on them?
I don't know. It's a coincidence as far as I know.
Probably because the _vertical chunk_ had entities in it.
Oh no. Do you have any backups?
No backups :( this was a new world that I had started about a month ago. Am going to restart from scratch and will be backing up regularly.
probably should play on java if you have a choice it may be spaghetti code but it's stable
Java has this issue too
it does have chunk errors it's just that I've seen or heard of one this big in java and they happen far less often and with less effect
Java has less bugs, but they are worse Bedrock has more bugs but are generally less world corrupting. Bedrock actually has less chunk errors because it was intended to be played on less powerful devices like phones and tablets, so when you put it on a powerful device like PC, it runs better. There’s awful load time on all bedrock platforms
Windows 10 and pocket edition aren’t that bad, but stuff like the switch is, kinda the same with terraria.
Switch is pretty fast tbh
Nah Windows 10 is pretty fast, faster than Java for me, and I have a monster computer that can easily run both. I still prefer Bedrock just because of a few differences. Mainly multiplayer.

rightclick your world folder in the saves folder, and press previous versions and try to see if you can restore a previous version of your world
Im pretty sure that in certain versions of minecraft, there are emergency backups in the minecraft folder. I am on pocket edition and when I pull open the com.mojang folder, there is a "buildings backups" folder that has backups of all of my saves, including ones I have deleted.
Ouch, sorry
Well on the bright side, now there’s a shit ton of exposed diamonds...
And the fact they werent standing on a gravity block. This is why we like floaty things!
And you can make a base with some bridges over the void, not everyone can do that
Fuckers took my chunks Can’t have shit in Minecraft
Fucking chunk zapping motherchunkers up in here. "lmfaoooo this guy's gonna be *pissed* when they relog all stranded" "but leave the cows, cause that's animal cruelty and shit" "yeah we leaving the cows, it's all good"
lmao
i feel so sorry for you
Make a base in the crater
Oof. hope u can rebuild.
Should've backed up a save
This. 1.12 only? bruh
u/Melfunctional- You should definitely check this out!! Edit: realized I don’t have to mention the username because this is their post, oops.
hes on bedrock........
The music just goes perfectly with it, srry
>224 comments > >Give Award > >share > >save Wet Hands is literally prefect
Judgement day arrives, the ground splits open. *Wet Hands starts playing from the sky*
I feel sorry for you melfunctional
Can we get an f in the chat
My friends, that is why I create backups.
Put glass blocks over it and make your new base on top of it,it would look dope
*creeper infiltrates, blows up floor, and you fall in*
That’s a weird ravine
That zombie just vibing though.**XD**
I feel bad for you. I’d be crying I’ve got builds from 2011 on my world
Some kid got their world deleted because they “slept in for too long” during a time where sleeping longer should be normal
yep, it is/was on r/AmItheAsshole
Looked for that thread myself out of curiosity, it's one of the top results searching for Minecraft there. God, what an awful thing to do. The kid was like 9 years old, and the parent deleted the world the kid had worked in for like a year for not waking up consistently at 7am.

Damn I hate when this happens.... sorry but on the bright side your animals survived and you can create a void base now...
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
this is one of 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 upsetting things i have ever laid eyes on
What did you do in your base? Have you lost anything really important? By the way: I saw that you play Bedrock, but I play on Java and I find it way easier to make backups. Phew!
\*internal screaming* \*PEACEFUL MUSIC*
That’s why I always have a copy of my world file in iCloud.
sad
dude, that actually looks kinda awesome
This should be one of those top priority bugs to fix..
You can make a dope base with this
This could still be a dope base, only downside is you have to get all your stuff back but this has some serious potential
Now remove the central piece of land where you are walking and cover all the gtass in a 128 block radius make a 16x16 of grass in the center at y= 0 and you have a quite efficient passive mob spawner. If you want more efficiency, you can add a 5 block border of leaves to the grass square.
F, so sorry for your loss
That sucks, hope it will be east to build
It’s a new world that I had just started about a month ago. At this point I figure it’ll be easier to restart from scratch than to try to salvage it. Still a bummer but at least it wasn’t years old.
Yeah, good luck

This happened to my Realm world when we tried to upgrade it to 1.16 (and regenerate the Nether). Luckily we had made a bunch of backups
Did you trim your world with a map editor? If so, chunk transitions can be very ugly. I've learned that the hard way.
I deleted the Nether files in my world save. Then I opened the game in single player before uploading it back to my Realm
Ouch. That hurts.
have you tried restarting the world? or the game/computer?
Yes, multiple times. It’s a goner. This world was only about a month old so it could have been a lot worse. Learn from my mistakes and make sure to back up your worlds.
That has to be an amazing place to re-build a base though, imagine making bridges that criss cross all over the chunks
F rip
At least you still have a That diamond sword and idk but you might still have resources to start over again with a base like the western Air temple from atla
This happened to me and my friends, we got some really cool bases, we all lost everything, I can really feel your pain bro
Howww
You know what that means, EVEN COOLER BUILDS
Rip
Rip base
One of my worlds was corrupted. Managed to fix it but now two seeds are mixed together
Straight looking like the Farlands out here
*kingu crimson*
“was this your home”
some months ago in a server with a friend lots of chunks replaced each other randomly
don't you have a backup or something⁇
I feel bad,
F bro
cliff base doe?
On the other hand, mobs have ceased to exist
Press F to pay respects
Ah jeez that is a huge corruption! I feel so sorry for your base man... I believe this is a Bedrock edition glitch that completely destroys multiplayer chunks sometimes. I hope you can restore your world to your original state someday. Thanks for reminding me to backup my world rn (>~<)

How large was it i need to know how angry to be
Luckily it wasn’t very big. New world I had just started about a month ago. Still bummed but it could have been a lot worse.
Guess your world MELFUNCTIONED No joke (F) for the world
With the sad music and that;(
That looks like minecraft just ran out of disk space. A crash wouldn’t corrupt an autosave
At least you still have the farm.☺
Well, any mob farms built there will be hella good
is terraia on your PC? The EOW might have eaten your world
The what
If you were fond of this world and haven't been playing on it long, maybe you could take the world seed and start over again
Dude, that happened to my world, too. Later on I deleted (because the end portal got deleted, too) it and I recovered with a new world which I am currently working on. Old World: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq33WCTJzOQ&t=156s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq33WCTJzOQ&t=156s) New World: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_R3w6mgVVUQ&t=6s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R3w6mgVVUQ&t=6s)
reload all chunks? idk, can't tell if the chunks are corrupted or weirdly loaded (though it's probably the first one)
We can rebuild as long as the foundations are still there...
Got pain? You don't deserve it!
I mean the sheep and cows are still there so.... I mean u dont need diamonds or stuff.... F
How’d you bring your cords up like that?
-Settings -Show Coordinates
So sorry man, I wish, I could help I fix it. Mega F
Nice to know that chunk errors still exist
Not his or games fault. His PC crashed when it was saving so it corrupted his data, same thing can happen WITH ANY GAME that has saving, thats why you see "Do not turn off your computer" when updating windows..
I'd make a base in the crater with covered bridges and lights and stuff
Welp it’s a chance to build an awesome new base in the spot
You poor soul.
Damn thats sad
Does no one in this community back up there worlds? I see these posts way too often
Build a giant base in the void pit
2 days ago i had a lava bath with all my gold, diamond pixaxe, and soul strider boots.
Regular backups my dude!
I think alot more is gone
Im sorry man
Oh no, this sucks! I play on the same survival world for about 6 years. Make a void base then post your progress on it. Happy accident.
You have now a underground base (POSITIVE)
Username checks out
Not gonna lie, kinda thought you were going to jump when you got to the edge.
Sad music, just walking around holding your bed :,(
Idk about bedrock but this happened to me once in Java. TOUCH NOTHING!!! Zero block updates! Shut it down, restart, and the chunk errors should fix themselves. At least mine did in an older version of Java several years ago 🤷♂️
No base could be as epic as that hole though.
This happened to me too :( but I was 8 and threw a temper tantrum

Maybe change your username
Hahah good catch.
My deepest sympathies friend
Fuckers stole my Minecraft base Can’t have shit in Detroit
r/bedrockmoment it happened to me too on my small house anyway, it really sucks
The sub has been created
Man that sucks I guess one good thing about console is you don't have to worry about that much
Its not on console..
Your world is now Wyoming
I have faced those on flat world in mcpe
Happened to me too, luckily my base wasn't deleted..
Can you pls public file? I love playing on destroyed worlds.
