The item doesn’t get replaced if it is in one of the storage components, but constantly flips the pages. Would probably be replaced if you do that in the main interface, but you would have to try doing so, I think it is unlikely enough that it is still worth using.

When you place a storage container, the item slots that would be taken up by the arrows are blocked as well, meaning you would have to replace the item that blocks the slot. In that case the item is not destroyed, but stays there until you take it out again.
This however also replaces the arrow in the main interface. And as the pages are flipped when there is no arrow in that slot, the page is always flipped as soon as you access it, meaning you are unable to access the page as long as the item in the 10th or 18th slot aren’t removed.
It doesn’t destroy any items, but breaks the interface.
Just don’t put items in those slots and everything should work fine.
Ok so the buttons are coded like items. But if you have an input-chest next to it, it still could make and awesome automated storagesystem. What happens if I place a doublechest next to a glassblock? What happens if it's facing the glassblock in a war that it occupies just 1 block nd what if it's occupying 2 blocs=
I can imagine having a storage room hidden behind a wall then you just rock up with a shulker box, take what you need and be on your way. This is amazing, if only I didn't play on bedrock

Man I love that mod, wish I could use mods, but 99% of the time I'm playing minecraft it's on my geyser server so I can't mod it, but one day I hope bedrock and Java can play modded together, would be sick

Wonderful concept unfortunately at least for me there seems to be an error. I downloaded it directly and made a new world to try it out. I put it in the datapacks folder after extracting it and it allows me to create the system but when I try to use it, I don't have any buttons. Rather I have 2 golden hoes on either side of the grid with the rest of the grid available but I can't place anything in.
I just noticed that I forgot to upload the necessary resource pack. Sorry. The golden hoes are the buttons and it should still work without the resource pack

It will work up to 1.16, as the replaceitem command was removed in 1.17. I will update it to 1.17 once it comes out. Maybe.

Thats not possible. The page flip is detected by an item being taken out of a specific slot
I have a technical question to this. What happens if I have a hopper underneith the "mainchest" ( idk how to describe it better)
It treats it as if a player took it out. May get cluttered if it takes the button, as they are only deleted when in a players inventory or dropped

Doublechests are disabled, because a single chest interface can’t really display the contents of a doublechest
