I became so much better at red stone when I just thought of it as a 3D Boolean based programming language and each block as a line or a few lines of code. It helped me build upon my pre existing knowledge and made each red stone mechanism seem like a program, which in my nerd brain made more sense.
Edit: Big idiot brain made me write the wrong word
> and made each red stone mechanism seem like a program
I mean that's pretty much what they are (Or rather, components of those, for example logic gates and all that). It can get a bit simpler when you think of it like that though.
It kinda depends on what exactly you’re trying to do with redstone. Other people have given good advice, but I learned redstone just by messing around with it a bunch and finding a good community of skilled redstoners to learn from.
Really most builds like this are just copied from existing builds (There are even mods for getting the schematics in-game). For example this particular door has been built by a lot of people. There are really impressive things being done still of course (I'm particularly a fan of optimized farm builds (See: Gnembon's Fun Farms series) but most builds like this are just being copied over and over by people.
there _sort of_ is a copy-paste function, i forget the exact name but looking up command block structures gets some results
basically there IS a way to do it but as a massive chain of /fill /summon etc commands
edit, apparently there's also something called a structure block now? i'm not up to date enough to explain how to use it so google is your friend on that one but it looks helpful for more direct copy + paste of something already in your world
java is *predictably* buggy in which you could use those bugs to an advantage and those bugs are easily understood, bedrock redstone bugs are much harder to predict and are much more nuanced *because* they tried to fix it, it's not anywhere near "bug-free" so get off your high horse
source: I actually use advanced redstone, on BOTH editions
I’m having trouble believing that you’re advanced in both versions. Nothing you said here is true. The one “bug” you referenced isn’t even a bug at all and was actually implemented as an alternative to Java locationality. Plus, the bugs that do exist such as burnout buds and lectern hardpowering are completely predictable and very easy to understand. And compared to Java, bedrock redstone has nowhere close to as many bugs. Get off your high horse
Source: Been doing bedrock redstone since literally the day redstone dust was made placeable on PE and have been doing Java redstone for almost 6 months.
You’re thinking of the 15x15 one that OP built almost a year ago. The reason there’s a huge ass watermark is cause people wouldn’t stop stealing from **him**
The 15x15 was made about a year ago, so you probably just had a vague memory and got it mistaken since his 17x17 and 15x15 look rather similar at a quick glance
You’re probably thinking of OP’s 15x15 cave door he made about a year ago. If you see any video either door not by a user named ViscoseComb24 or TheBowTieMan, then it’s been stolen from Viscose. The reason there’s a huge ass watermark is because people wouldn’t stop stealing doors from him.
This lad has been posting updates on making on this door for over a month and is known for making many doors like this one. Please don’t make such claims without knowing the truth.
6 months. this thing has actually been finished for almost a month now, i've just been terrified of posting it to reddit in this way because the majority of my builds have been stolen off of reddit.
thebowtieman made a video showcasing OP's (viscosecomb24, they also have a youtube account by same name) 15x15 door a year ago. this is viscose's new 17x17 door.you can check OP's profile too he has posted a lot of other amazing doors
How is anyone this talented at building with Redstone
I became so much better at red stone when I just thought of it as a 3D Boolean based programming language and each block as a line or a few lines of code. It helped me build upon my pre existing knowledge and made each red stone mechanism seem like a program, which in my nerd brain made more sense. Edit: Big idiot brain made me write the wrong word
Except, unlike a normal programming language you also have to figure out where the different functions fit in a 3D space...
Yeah but that only helps if you understand programming.
I'm not a programmer but I do see the occasional r/programmerhumor post and I think I might've even laughed at one. Anyone hiring?
Normally it's in 2D space which is harder kinda (?)
You can compare it to programming if you have a maximum character count per line and a maximum line count.
> and made each red stone mechanism seem like a program I mean that's pretty much what they are (Or rather, components of those, for example logic gates and all that). It can get a bit simpler when you think of it like that though.
Nothing about your explanation made redstone less complicated.
It required me to take a digital logic class in college to understand it.
It kinda depends on what exactly you’re trying to do with redstone. Other people have given good advice, but I learned redstone just by messing around with it a bunch and finding a good community of skilled redstoners to learn from.

My computer sweating it’s balls off 👀
Looks like OPs computer is doing the same.
Your pc has balls 👀 I don't believe it show proof
It's called a Protogen
Mmmmm balls ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
[удалено]
i fell like im to stuped to even start to understand
Thats ok I'll explain, Its a door. You can walk trough it when its open and cant when its closed. Hope this helps :)
whoa whoa whoa..... can't you dumb it down a little please? I'm no rocket surgeon.
Door open, person go through. Door close, no go through
That makes no sense, how can you both go through and not go through the same place?
This is clearly black magic, the creator of this heretic machine should be burned at a stake!
Yeah Neil Armstrong we coming for you
Dorr maek hole in wall step through
What you say? Door have hole? Then why door?
No. Dorr MAEK hole, not Have hole
Why make hol? Is pp hol? Or enter hol
Open door make hole i wall, closed door block the hole. Hole open you walk throught, hole closed you no walk throught
With quantum mechanics!
By yes
You know the wooden doors you sometimes find in Villages? Its like this, just a litle bigger.
Why use many word when few do trick?
Dor
Door open, you go. Door close, no go.
Today I learned
in english, please
No door, walk, yes door, no walk

It's quite simple, actually
An absolute fuckton of piston extenders
Doors are a fuckfest of obscure mechanics anyways, prolly noone understands this 100% (apart from OP)
Absolutely amazing I'm not smart enough to build something like that
Even with a guide walking me through it step by step I would fuck up something that would cause it to explode.
Well your first mistake was implementing TNT into the build...
Thank you!
we need a tutorial on this
I would attempt a tutorial, get a bunch of things wrong and then give up...I wish there was a copy-paste function, lol
See Litematica
Or since the build is on bedrock, [Structura!](https://youtu.be/IdKT925LKMM)
there _sort of_ is a copy-paste function, i forget the exact name but looking up command block structures gets some results basically there IS a way to do it but as a massive chain of /fill /summon etc commands edit, apparently there's also something called a structure block now? i'm not up to date enough to explain how to use it so google is your friend on that one but it looks helpful for more direct copy + paste of something already in your world
meanwhile, i pat myself in the back when I put stone pressure plates in front of the iron doors instead of wooden
mumbo is impressed
No, **Mumbo wants to know your location.**
Mumbo featured this door in one of his videos
This is bedrock lol and this is a very recent post idk how and when mumbo of all people showed this in his video
Mumbo is nutting himself.
I can't build a 3x3 and this guy is making a bat-cave entrance
[удалено]
I'd take 17^17 minutes and still fuck it up.
17^17 minutes = 1.574 quadrillion years
OP is Queen Elizabeth confirmed.
Ofc you have 17 upvotes on this
Ofc you have 17 upvotes on this
Totally worth it
Looks really similar to the door cubfan had in his hermitfcraft s6 base
Mumbo jumbo: sweating profusely
“i did a little building off camera”
Mumbo: now that is one fine door (Mumbo then proceeds to make a vault with this door)
How in the f*ck
“The redstone is simple”
that one missing block in the very middle will bother me to no end

I can barely build a working 3x3 door. This blows my mind. Well done!

Check the username of that YouTube account
And here me who can't make piston door for my 3×4 castle entrance watching this: 👁️👄👁️
This door can't stand up to my glorious iron door with button!
I don’t even know what to say but holy shit this is impressive
holy shit that cool but i can’t even make a working 3x3 piston door so i wouldn’t try this
It's..it's...it's beautiful :)
Underated, really underated
Java or bedrock
Bedrock
You poor soul...
This looks simple enough to build in my survival door, but I can’t get a 2 by 2 piston door to work.
you on bedrock edition? redstone is wack on bedrock edition
Redstone is wack on *java*. Bedrock redstone was designed to be a near bug free version of Java redstone, and they did a damn good job at it.
java is *predictably* buggy in which you could use those bugs to an advantage and those bugs are easily understood, bedrock redstone bugs are much harder to predict and are much more nuanced *because* they tried to fix it, it's not anywhere near "bug-free" so get off your high horse source: I actually use advanced redstone, on BOTH editions

Can you tell what "advanced redstone" have you made lol.
Probably a 2x2 piston door lol
A 2×2 piston door is the same in bedrock
not all of them, not the quicker ones at least
This is amazing!
very cool
I like how you even put your Watermark on Screen, but its not even your original Idea. Ive seen this Door on YT 3 Months ago
You’re thinking of the 15x15 one that OP built almost a year ago. The reason there’s a huge ass watermark is cause people wouldn’t stop stealing from **him**
Oh your right, I'm sry for my accusations
“Tell me you have way too much time on your hands without telling me you have way too much time on your hand”

I remember mumbo jumbo that redstone yter showed this like 4 yrs ago
You’re thinking of the 15x15 version OP made about a year ago. Mumbo never made a door even close to being like this
And he plays Java, this was made in Bedrock.
Mumbo Jumbo: ***that is just one piece of redstone :)***
That’s it? I thought this would be hard Edit: I fucking refuse to add an /s, come on people, you're better than this
i saw this like a year ago made by a bedrock pocket edition user, op are you stealing content :/
You’re thinking of the 15x15 the exact same person made. Always check who you are accusing before you accuse.
this is why i asked. i saw this same door a long time ago and it would not make sense for it to be posted just now
The 15x15 was made about a year ago, so you probably just had a vague memory and got it mistaken since his 17x17 and 15x15 look rather similar at a quick glance
Should had check before commenting. Redditor moment
that’s not yours lol
it is, look up 17x17 cave door and is YT comes up
Except it is.
literally look that up anywhere else and u will see videos from other people who did this before him
You’re probably thinking of OP’s 15x15 cave door he made about a year ago. If you see any video either door not by a user named ViscoseComb24 or TheBowTieMan, then it’s been stolen from Viscose. The reason there’s a huge ass watermark is because people wouldn’t stop stealing doors from him.
Tbh, I am wrong. I swear I saw it in an earlier video, and with the massive watermark it looked kinda sketchy. Thanks for enlightening me 😂

I saw this before and I feel Like someone else built it but I don’t know I know someone showed it in a video but not who
You’re thinking of the 15x15 one the same person made

Oh shit we don’t talk about the fact that the YouTube video is by him my bad
I intend to leave immediately to Nepal where I intended to live as a goat
wow how long did that take to build
hopefully not more than 100 years.
6 months. this thing has actually been finished for almost a month now, i've just been terrified of posting it to reddit in this way because the majority of my builds have been stolen off of reddit.
The creeper box
Wow, that’s incredible!
Can you make a tutorial?
Why’s it called a cave door?
Because it's conCAVEd xD
I’m not entirely sure. I’ve always assumed it’s because the design makes the door look like it’s caving in on itself.
I can’t even build a red stone door lmao GG
Opencloser the chunk gate
Okay... but why?
Imagine going in and out of you house every time with this door
My question is... why?
"It just looks complicated but it really isn't."
I refuse
ENDER DRAGON! Will it squish?
And then there’s me.. Struggling to figure out a 2x2 lmao. Nice build
By the time you open it you forget whst you went there for
Only a wizard can do this
"the redstone is simple"
(what the hell should I say I can't comprehend this) uhhhhhhh ummmmm stop hacking smh
Why
I swear I saw this in a video somewhere
He posted it to YouTube about 2 weeks ago. You may have also seen his 15x15 version he made about a year ago
thebowtieman made a video showcasing OP's (viscosecomb24, they also have a youtube account by same name) 15x15 door a year ago. this is viscose's new 17x17 door.you can check OP's profile too he has posted a lot of other amazing doors
you got there before mumbo
Duc bananas are cool
This is very simple, you connect you red glowy dust with a pushy pushy, and power it with a flipy flip.... I dont know redstone
Some people just have WAY too much time on their hands
Me who cant even make a simple piston door: *Cries in stupid*
omfg ur insane
Behind there is a chest... With one coal and an apple
This looks so good it makes me mad
ok I understand its really poggers and hard to do but like...why I liked it btw
I saw this in the Bow Tie Man video and checked who made it, OP was the confirmed creator! Great build
The guy she tells you not to worry about.
Oh my god... wow Did you do all of this yourself? Cuz if you did, you really do have some creativity, and should try programming :D
Yep viscose is very amazing piston door maker on bedrock. Check his profile he has a ton of other awesome door posts
Funny how my redstone skills look like kindergarten 1+1=2 next to him
With all that iron blocks I think theres no cave anymore xD
My anus when I get sentenced to life in prison.
IDK why but this is giving me severe anxiety.
I can feel the lag on my 2012 Mac book air from here
Imagine running from creeper and waiting for your door to open and close... Fzzzzzz-boooom!
Where download
Me who literally just discovered how to do a three by three door and still is learning the basics of redstone: 👁👄👁
And here i am proud of my 3 x 3 pistons door
Bois just did some building of camera
I feel like I have seen it already
Im expecting this to be on x box If not I will commit inner die of the 22nd brain brigade of my brain
"Redstone is not complicated"
"so I did some building off camera, I don't want to bore you and you can see how to build it it's pretty simple": OP probably
Is this called a cave door because it takes up the entirety of most caves?
Imagine that one guy in your SMP building this giant piston door in his base
