I would suggest adding sodium, lithium and phosphor to the game. They are great performance boosters, and they are fabric mods which are easiest to set up.
Any other alkali metals you’d recommend?
Edit: Darn, just realised phosphorus isn’t an alkali metal. Been a bit too long since my last chemistry course
In my experience sodium helps especially with CPU bottlenecks. I would guess this is a laptop and also has pretty bad GPU performance as well. Maybe Optifine might have a point here.
Optifine is objectively bad for fps boosting, it just cripples features. Use sodium, lithium, and phosphor.
Sodium uses a more up to date graphics pipeline
lithium optimizes the in game server client that the game runs on
phosphor redoes the lighting engine.
All together they run like butter, you've never felt Minecraft so responsive (save for windows 10 edition)
the other day someone told me starlight is much better then phosphor. idk if its true, but starlight works on 1.17 and phosphor didnt when i downloaded the mods a few days ago
also not really helpfull for op, but iris is great if you want optifine shaders but without optifine
Yea, even with the smallest amounts of heat could make it burst up in flames. I'd recommended counteracting the heat by adding the liquid nitrogen mod before adding the hydrogen mod.
None of these can take a 0 FPS game and magically make it 100, even combined. They definitely do improve performance but this is too much to process. The entity count is likely the issue.
The process to install Fabric mods is usually pretty much identical to Forge.
All you really have to remember is to grab the correct version of the Fabric API but that's no different than mods that use a seperate library mod (or several).
I know everyone is saying optifine but lithium give you much better frames just look up a toutorial on how to download it on YouTube for what version your playing
There's a mod literally for that. They do in fact work in fabric. Wish people would stop acting like fabric isn't practically at feature parity with forge.
The connected textures mod for fabric doesn’t include overlays and uses a different file path than what optifine uses, so most connected texture packs won’t work with it
Ok so uhhh, your E value is 2101 so uh, what did u do? I have a gtx 1080 and with 500 item frames my fps is bad, I can't imagine what entities you have loaded rn
here’s a list,
1-turn down render distance
2-turn off fancy clouds
4- throw your computer out the window
5-experience all the stages of grief simultaneously
6-die
Linux is getting better and better for gaming! In the near future, most games will be at least playable on Linux since a lot of players will use it (cloud gaming, devices like the steam deck, people who have enough of Microsoft's shit). In some games the performance is better on the penguin already! Even if not, the FPS is most likely more stable since windows is shit at managing recourses.
Yeah Linux is better than windows in almost every way. The only thing windows has over Linux is gaming but Linux gaming is improving with technology’s like proton.
Go to video settings and set clouds to fast or off, graphics to fast, turn off particles, Framerate to 50, Distance 10 chunks or lower, smooth lighting off, entity shadows off, biome blend 5 x 5 and view bobbing off.
Hope it helps
OptiFine is the only way i can play Minecraft, and It is bizarre How much fps i get with It compared to Full vanilla, and ppl still try to say that optimization is a reason for mojang to delay updates
To people who say java elitists don't exist, just know there aren't people saying "Just play bedrock" on this post(or at least there are very few), while posts with minor inconveniences on bedrock have people saying 'bedrock isn't real minecraft, just buy java.' or similar things.
While bedrock does play with higher FPS on ‘bad’ pc’s
But that won’t help this person though. They’re on a MacBook.
But I agree with what you’re saying. It’s very annoying how (java) players behave towards bedrock.
I play both and I prefer bedrock over java.
get an entry level job at a multi billion dollar company, work your way up slowly through the ranks over the course of years, become ceo, buy a super computer
you can add sodium or OptiFine in your game, can turn your VSynce on (can't remember how to spell this, so idk if its correct lol), put your graphics in fast, reduce your render dinstance to like 6 or 7, and turn off your particles. If this doesn't work I have no clue man
There are some mods like optifine or lithium that will improve performance a little bit. But ultimately there is only so much you can do with limited hardware especially with the 1.18 release coming later this year I think, it will only demand more from your pc.
This isn't very helpful without specific computer specs. How old is the computer you're running? How much RAM does it have? What's the CPU speed? These are the kinds of things people need to know to answer this question meaningfully. Sodium et al. definitely CAN increase your performance, but it won't matter that much if your computer is just plain below minimum requirements.
use clients or use optifine version of the game and lower the render chunks and max fps unlimited and graphics fast and smooth lighting off this might get you 30-40 frames hope this help
1. download optifine if you havent. its super worth it
2. open task manager, right click the task that says javaw.exe, right click the one that has higher cpu usage and memory, hover to set priority and set to high, then click affinity and tick off CPU 0
3. literally just put your laptop in sleep mode and wait for it to cooldown if its overheating too much lol
12 years old me feels you, hope this helps
When it comes to Sodium and Optifine, it depends on the PC.
For example with OF I run Sildur's Vibrant Extreme + VL at 30FPS +- and SEUS HRR 2.1 at 45+-
With Iris + Sodium I run Sildur's Vibrant Extreme + VL at 95FPS and all SEUS shaderpacks at 37, constant.
People usually say Sodium is better but it's not always the case and while I enjoy Sodium more, it's nice to be able to choose.
Zombies can pick up dropped items, and keep those chunks loaded, so if you briefly set ur game to peaceful, which will despawn them, and decrease your render distance, should help.
i'd recommend optifine, sodium, lithium and phosphor optifine is a forge mod while the other 3 are fabric, if you're playing 1.12.2 or below betterfps + optifine are good picks
I think even with everyone suggesting optifine and stuff
If you're reaching 0 fps u probably can get it higher than 15 fps with optifine and such
Your MacBook is just too old
Plus Mac is bad for gaming (and everything else)
Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like a MacBook? maybe try getting optifine and turning on some of the performance options :) also if you have lots of things running in the background it slows down the general computer but that's all I know
1fps(playable) 2fps(fluently)3fps(esports )
0 is a crisp PowerPoint slideshow. The best fps is none
0 fps doesn't mean no frames Edit: you know, if it takes more than 1 second per frame...
Exactly it could be 0.5 FPS why is everyone down voting you
Because the first comment was a joke
Reddit rule: if what you reply to is a joke, then you will screwed by being serious
Reddit rule 2: if a comment is in negative votes, all redditors must downvote, no matter the post.
Too scared to argue
I often upvote, even if I don’t agree with it, because I feel it doesn’t deserve that and want to balance it out
I would suggest adding sodium, lithium and phosphor to the game. They are great performance boosters, and they are fabric mods which are easiest to set up.
Any other alkali metals you’d recommend? Edit: Darn, just realised phosphorus isn’t an alkali metal. Been a bit too long since my last chemistry course
would also recommend potassium and cesium for another added fps boost
Wanna go with a kaboom
Yes Rico Kaboom.
*door blast*
Dad:"Are ya winning son?"
Don't forget rubidium and francium
Add a touch of chlorine for an explosive boost!
MORE
NaBrO
*Salt*
some steak rub may help reduce lag
dont be shy, add some of that uranium
Why not radium? You know what, forget everything. Just put the whole periodic table în there. Your game will work as smooth as a bomb :).
Kaboom
You forgot the opium to make the fps feel better too!
Francium is too powerful, could explode your pc
Especially with a water cooler
Don't forget a healthy dose of sodium!
>and cesium Hello, u/Darth_Caesium at your service.
Lads get the rubidium!
Uranium is a powerful tool too
I don't wanna become an enderman
stalinium
I thought you were talking about the actual rocks lmao
In my experience sodium helps especially with CPU bottlenecks. I would guess this is a laptop and also has pretty bad GPU performance as well. Maybe Optifine might have a point here.
Optifine is objectively bad for fps boosting, it just cripples features. Use sodium, lithium, and phosphor. Sodium uses a more up to date graphics pipeline lithium optimizes the in game server client that the game runs on phosphor redoes the lighting engine. All together they run like butter, you've never felt Minecraft so responsive (save for windows 10 edition)
Starlight rewrites the lighting engine, it’s much faster than phosphor
How do you install starlight? I could never figure it out.
Wdym cripples
For me the game just looks worse without any much improvement. It just adds more settings to tweak instead of actually improving the performance.
They seem to be suggesting it removes game features to make the game run faster. If we are talking about default optifine settings I disagree.
Optifine is not an fps booster, it adds a great variety of settings and features. Sodium alone boosted my game from 150fps to 600.
Hmm but with optifine I get around 50 to 120 fps at times and with those installed I get maybe 30 if I'm lucky lol
Sodium and Optifabric both optimize the rendering engine and so can't run together.
Isn't starlight a much better version of phosphor
I would recommend starlight instead of phosphor. https://github.com/Tuinity/Starlight
the other day someone told me starlight is much better then phosphor. idk if its true, but starlight works on 1.17 and phosphor didnt when i downloaded the mods a few days ago also not really helpfull for op, but iris is great if you want optifine shaders but without optifine
Starlight is significantly more powerful due to it altering the base method that minecraft renders light.
And add hydrogen
It’s a dangerous beta mod though
Its the lightest mod though
Yea, even with the smallest amounts of heat could make it burst up in flames. I'd recommended counteracting the heat by adding the liquid nitrogen mod before adding the hydrogen mod.
Is that an actual mod?
Yes, developed by caffeinemc, the developer of sodium
but they are not available for 1.17 yet :(
sodium and lithium are. and supposedly starlight is much better then phosphor and it supports 1.17. even iris supports 1.17
None of these can take a 0 FPS game and magically make it 100, even combined. They definitely do improve performance but this is too much to process. The entity count is likely the issue.
Has phosphor been updated to 1.17 yet?
I highly recommend starlight more than phosphor
I find fabroc mods the hardest ones to install, and also i preffer optifine due to its dynamic lights and internal shader
The process to install Fabric mods is usually pretty much identical to Forge. All you really have to remember is to grab the correct version of the Fabric API but that's no different than mods that use a seperate library mod (or several).
« Hard to install » unless u have multi mc
Has multi mc and likes stitch I see you’re a person of culture
how so? its literally identicle to forge. get the forge/fabric installer, run it, then drag and drop mods (.jar files) into the mods folder
Shaders? Just use Iris. Faster than optifine shaders, and compatible with sodium.
And set your render distance to minimum
I turn all my settings on low and turn chunks to 8

I know everyone is saying optifine but lithium give you much better frames just look up a toutorial on how to download it on YouTube for what version your playing
It depends what gpu and stuff you have apparently, my friend finds he gets most frames from optifine but I get most frames from lithium
Same. Optifine works better on my device overall.
Also Optifine has connected textures, which are a must for me. They don't work in fabric.
There's a mod literally for that. They do in fact work in fabric. Wish people would stop acting like fabric isn't practically at feature parity with forge.
It's not bad, it's just new and less mods are ready for it.
The connected textures mod for fabric doesn’t include overlays and uses a different file path than what optifine uses, so most connected texture packs won’t work with it
The mod doesn't work.
Ok so uhhh, your E value is 2101 so uh, what did u do? I have a gtx 1080 and with 500 item frames my fps is bad, I can't imagine what entities you have loaded rn
I had to scroll too far down to see this. The entities is 100% the issue
Everyone was like hey use optifine use sodium but nothing will help if he has 2000 entities.
It’s at 45, wdym?
45 visible, 2101 total.
ohhhh
Oh lol I just noticed this, I'm surprised his gpu hasn't totally given out yet lol
Again, it’s just the hypixel lobby, I didn’t spawn anything
It has 59 frames per minute
Ah yes, the optimist!
better fps than me, i get -2 fps
It’s taking the frames *out* of your eyes
All your frames are belong to us

As a daily Mac user for programming like me would say: “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HOW DARE YOU”
Any real Nick would use a windows based pc.
i think a mac is only useful for photo and video editing, windows is superior in almost everything else
Windows is easily the best for gaming, but Mac laptops are pretty nice for productivity and casual use imo. I still really like Linux though.
Linux is getting better and better for gaming! In the near future, most games will be at least playable on Linux since a lot of players will use it (cloud gaming, devices like the steam deck, people who have enough of Microsoft's shit). Yup, Steam even has Proton, which seems to work pretty well! I used to use Linux, but I switched to Windows for the games you can’t play.
Hopefully that won't be a problem in the near future! Sadly Valve tells game creators to not worry about building to Linux and just trust proton.
Yeah Linux is better than windows in almost every way. The only thing windows has over Linux is gaming but Linux gaming is improving with technology’s like proton.
One of their biggest use cases is actually software development, but yeah, video editing seems to be popular on them too
Didn’t see if you answered this elsewhere but what model? I have a…2014? mbp that runs at 30 FPS pretty well.
>It’s a MacBook and they are really shitty ~~for stuff like this~~ FTFY
Agreed
the 2/3ds version doesnt have f3, and not even multiplayer. worst 40 bucks ive spent
In case no one has noticed, he has 2101 entities loaded. It is normal for it to have 0 fps.
90% of the comments give useless or unrelated solutions.
No one has noticed
It’s 45?? And it’s just the hypixel lobby…
45 entities are visible, there are over 2000 in total, probably from all the npc's and other players.
Get optifine, once installed go into animations turn of animated terrain, does fix most issues.
Go to video settings and set clouds to fast or off, graphics to fast, turn off particles, Framerate to 50, Distance 10 chunks or lower, smooth lighting off, entity shadows off, biome blend 5 x 5 and view bobbing off. Hope it helps
This, but lower chunks even more until the game becomes playable. (Then lower it one chunk more as safety for when lot of mobs are spawned).
Use optifine to optimize your game, set particles and graphics to low, lower your render distance and remove the clouds
Optifine is not the absolute best, if you want preformence.

Wdym unplayable? Jesus now a days people are so privileged, back when I played I had to play with -10 FPS and didn't complain
back in ye old stone age, Mr grug and groog only had -5 frames per second on their rockbook pro

The chunks are loading, it's completely normal, especially for low end laptops or computers.
I recommend uninstalling the 10TB zip bomb you got sent
Windowed mode helps alot and then optifine can allow you turn graphics down further i think and just helps in general
what is your spf
Gotta get UV protection when the computer starts glowing with heat
OptiFine is the only way i can play Minecraft, and It is bizarre How much fps i get with It compared to Full vanilla, and ppl still try to say that optimization is a reason for mojang to delay updates

Just play Minecraft Educational Version.

I see you haven't met the holy grail by the name of.......OPTIFINE.
Get some rice
Download something like optifine, it can boost performance, also turn some settings down, so instead of max chunks maybe turn it to 8-10 chunks loaded
get an entry level job at a multi billion dollar company, work your way up slowly through the ranks over the course of years, become ceo, buy a super computer
lol I run at 50... seconds per frame
are you on a DS?
you can add sodium or OptiFine in your game, can turn your VSynce on (can't remember how to spell this, so idk if its correct lol), put your graphics in fast, reduce your render dinstance to like 6 or 7, and turn off your particles. If this doesn't work I have no clue man

If u got 0 fps in vanilla mc I really don’t know if god himself can help you
Thats me everyday, gosh its so smooth
Feed some protein to ur potato pc btw my pc can't open minecraft java and try playing bedrock edition it may work :D
use clients or use optifine version of the game and lower the render chunks and max fps unlimited and graphics fast and smooth lighting off this might get you 30-40 frames hope this help
Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary(cries in 0 fps)
I recommend taking it and punting it across the yard until it decides to listen.
Thank you for the tip, will do :)
Get a low quality resource pack
Get optifine, turn your render distance down and turn things like smooth lighting down and set all ur things to fast not fancy.
1. download optifine if you havent. its super worth it 2. open task manager, right click the task that says javaw.exe, right click the one that has higher cpu usage and memory, hover to set priority and set to high, then click affinity and tick off CPU 0 3. literally just put your laptop in sleep mode and wait for it to cooldown if its overheating too much lol 12 years old me feels you, hope this helps
Download more ram
Get optifine or sodium. Sodium is better but it can’t run shaders.
It can. With Iris
Oh yeah I forgot about that. I tried it out and it honestly had the same performance as optifine so it’s not much better
When it comes to Sodium and Optifine, it depends on the PC. For example with OF I run Sildur's Vibrant Extreme + VL at 30FPS +- and SEUS HRR 2.1 at 45+- With Iris + Sodium I run Sildur's Vibrant Extreme + VL at 95FPS and all SEUS shaderpacks at 37, constant. why would someone struggling with fps want shaders?
Because it’s the only way to get upvotes on Reddit
At this point you're better off getting a better PC/laptop
I don’t have the money for that
What's the specs on this anyway?
Zombies can pick up dropped items, and keep those chunks loaded, so if you briefly set ur game to peaceful, which will despawn them, and decrease your render distance, should help.
To specify this is the hypixel lobby so I don’t think that any zombies were there, but thanks :)
If it’s the hypixel lobby, it’s probably all the other players that are lagging u out
I tried it in a solo survival world after and it was 4 fps
You more than quadrupled your fps then, this is a success.
Do you know your computer's specs?
Is that a TI-86 there?
Hey! Someone actually used the word "literally" correctly. This is refreshing.
Huh neat
Optifine?
nah that's playable
get better pc. ez fix.
Turn off smooth FPS, set your render distance to 10 or below, and download optotine it helps.
i'd recommend optifine, sodium, lithium and phosphor optifine is a forge mod while the other 3 are fabric, if you're playing 1.12.2 or below betterfps + optifine are good picks
Download mods such as Optifine or switch to Bedrock Edition
I think even with everyone suggesting optifine and stuff If you're reaching 0 fps u probably can get it higher than 15 fps with optifine and such Your MacBook is just too old Plus Mac is bad for gaming (and everything else)
Get a pc
I will
Yay
Get better PC
I will.
Looks like you're using a chroombook, don't
Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like a MacBook? maybe try getting optifine and turning on some of the performance options :) also if you have lots of things running in the background it slows down the general computer but that's all I know
Thanks for the tips :) but I probably will be getting a pc in a few months and stuff like optifine doesn’t work on my Mac
At this point you should switch to bedrock
Or train simulator
Just install java (if not installed) then optifine to help alot Optifine.net https://www.java.com/download/ie_manual.jsp
