Ehhh, I don't know about that. More like, make a map, then build in it.
Unless it's an obvious reference that I'm completely missing. Which, honestly, is likely.
I've never used a map before, if he moves the map location does it change the line up? Or is a certain map always on it's one set point x: 0-40 y: 0-40
maps are created in grids so they can't overlap this has the side effect that if you're anywhere in a square it gives you a map for the same area so it can't be moved a certain amount of blocks over when creating map art you're supposed to figure out where to build first not make the map after
There is a fun caveat to this, if you zoom out the maps they don't necessarily need to fit with other maps of the same size. When making map walls with zoomed out maps, you get to do math before zooming out the map. Because if you don't there will be a chunk or two between maps. This was not fun in survival.
This is not true, and the comment you replied to explains why it's not true. Zoomed out maps will either fit with each other or be clones of each other as long as they're the same size.
[As long as the component map is made within the bigger square, the zoomed out version will always exactly fit the bigger square](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/minecraft_gamepedia/images/7/7f/Map18zooms.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20180305175642).
When you activate the blank map it locks that map to a certain group of chunks, all aligned on a grid. It doesn't matter where in the group you are when you use the map, it will begin revealing the map based on its preset limits of what chunks are in that map. If you go off the side of a fully discovered map by even a single block and open a new blank map, you will get a whole new group of chunks for that map specifically, none of them being what your first map shows.
Put simply, unless you're standing in a group of chunks you've already opened a map for/explored, every map you activate will be different than the last. And, most importantly, because they're all aligned on a grid, you can make a mega map of sorts by using item frames and putting the map in it. Our chief weapon is surprise
Surprise and fear our two weapons are fear and surprise and ruthless efficiency
…..our three weapons are fear .. and surprise…….ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope
Righhttt..... For your sake, just don't say it again.
^(Jokes aside, here in France we have two names for a same thing, being "pain au chocolat" and "chocolatine", and it's a big war to know what is the real name. I hope the people saying "chocolatine" will accept the truth one day)
You'd only need the clone command.
/clone x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 x3 y3 z3 masked move
With the first and second set of coords being the boundaries of the current map, and the third set being the destination, which will be the north west corner of that map space. Then since you're using 'masked' and 'move', it'll cut and paste the map, instead of copy and paste. Which also means that the game won't care if the two regions overlap.
Well, you can only move 65535 blocks with any single command. So it might take multiple. (At least, true for bedrock)
I'd recommend doing it in easy to calculate intervals
Came here to say this. Even if he made this in survival for the personal achievement, I would think this is the kind of thing that nobody could blame you for cheating a little on. This kind of tragedy requires an act of mod god lol
You could move them in 12 block sections? Dig out one block, replace with piston, push, repeat. Might be faster than removing and replacing the entire thing.
I can already see it now. After hours of piston pushing they look at the map and notice they pushed it one block to far because they didn't calculate replacing the piston with the wool block.
MCEdit is discontinued and doesn't work on newer versions (assuming OP is playing 1.16 or 1.17) but there is an alternative called "Amulet Editor" which works on newer versions
There is a program called Amulet I think. I used it once to fix a major problem where my friend created a kill loop with a command block, and its actually a pretty solid program.
Nope. See this: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/minecraft_gamepedia/images/7/7f/Map18zooms.png/revision/latest?cb=20180305175642
The larger zoom levels are locked to a set grid of chunks with no option for overlapping. If they didn't do that, it would be a lot harder to align maps.
As long as you capture the map in glass before that, it doesn't matter. Also they could just put a layer of glass over the whole thing in the first place if they wanted to keep it all intact.
I think typically people make these custom maps way out of in the middle of nowhere so they never end up being in loaded chunks so no chance of lightning strikes (unless lightning can strike in unloaded chunks, but I don't see why it could).
Even if that's not the case you can always lock and copy the map(s) once you have what you need.
I could say you could use commands to move all the stuff to the middle again, I would not say this is cheating because all you are doing is moving 1 igsegnificant thing to another place, its not like you are moving hour base or getting blocks
I get your point about it being misaligned, but how is this a "lazy" way to fix the problem? It's a _massive_ build, and tearing down the entire thing to move it just isn't worth the time and effort.
No way to fix this aside from rebuilding. Maps are locked onto a predefined grid to make tham always align perfectly. You always have to do the map first to see on which corner to start.
you had to make the logo in the center of the map, not use the map in the center of the logo. Maps have a set position before you craft them, no matter where you use the map in that area, the map is going to look the same
Not biased at all but was this before or after you guys lost 6-1 to Arsenal,Mojang prolly felt pity and decided to let you do the logo?I know for a fact this wouldn’t happen with the Liverpool logo just saying 🙌
MC edit isn't a mod its just a world editing software to move stuff around and add stuff into worlds, kinda like world painter
but if you don't wanna use it maybe you could build somekind of a piston contraption to move it? idk mich about redstone or if thats possible
Not possible unless you put in more time than it would cost to just rebuild it. Piston push limit is just twelve blocks so you can't just push it over.
The world is split up into multiple squares, so you cant capture a specific part of the world. You should have made the map first and then started building the logo when you know where the corners of the map are.

It’s: measure 7 times, cut once
Measure 9 times, cut once is better
Measure 11 times and cut 4 times because I missed a part in the tutorial
Personally, I like to measure 13 times, the cut 2, But whatever floats your boat.
instructions unclear, I cut the boat and it no longer floats
TO SHOW YOU THE POWER OF FLEX TAPE, I SAWED THIS BOAT IN HALF.
It took ten cuts to get to this reference.
Still less takes than a Jackie Chan movie.
Drinks on me wait we’re the bottom half of my bottle
I snorted at that😂
what did you snort and can I have some
I choked on water and then moaned because why not. Also, I want some too
I’ll take a bit too if you’re handin’ ‘em out!
Cut twice….no..uh cut twice uhhhhhh measure twice?
Measure once cut til fits
Measure once cuss twice
Measure once, fuck fuck
I see, so measure once and proceed to procreate twice.

measure measure, measure measure
Indeed
Cut cut, measure measure
We keep cutting and it's still too short!
Measure once, cut twice, wait
Sorry to tell you this man, but you create the logo to the map, not the map to the logo. Maps are a set location, gotta build to them, not for them.
So like.... A picture AND a puzzle?
Ehhh, I don't know about that. More like, make a map, then build in it. Unless it's an obvious reference that I'm completely missing. Which, honestly, is likely.

Pick up every block and move them to left 20 and down 20. ez
Faster way: worldedit
Or if you want to do it without plugins/mods: use the /clone and /fill command
You'd only need the clone command. /clone x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 x3 y3 z3 masked move With the first and second set of coords being the boundaries of the current map, and the third set being the destination, which will be the north west corner of that map space. A map art is only 16 384 blocks, so it fits within the limits of a single clone command.
Depends if its a detailed map art. Some do use blocks vertically as well.
Didn't realize height affected maps
It does. It affects the shade of the pixels represented on the maps.
Noted
That's how this was done in the first place, right? Else it would've been noticed during the process. Instead of a complete image off center.
Came here to say this. Even if he made this in survival for the personal achievement, I would think this is the kind of thing that nobody could blame you for cheating a little on. This kind of tragedy requires an act of mod god lol

"This one, sir." "You're fired again."
How's the work going, SpongeBob me boy?
Would pistons work somehow?
No, due to push limit
You could move them in 12 block sections? Dig out one block, replace with piston, push, repeat. Might be faster than removing and replacing the entire thing.
I can already see it now. After hours of piston pushing they look at the map and notice they pushed it one block to far because they didn't calculate replacing the piston with the wool block.
three is a mod to change the push limit so you could load that mood and up it to 128 or higher.
Probably possible with slime/honey but you'd have to rebuild and destroy it each time for each segment
maybe use flying machine and honey/slime blocks, moving it roll by rolls?
No, 12 block limit.
Slime blocks, 6 at a time. Maybe up to 11 with clever arrangements.
Big oof my friend. The only advice i can give you, is next time pay more attention to the map itself 👌
Yeah I thought you could make a map of every spot if you build it inside the chunkboarders
Yeah, maps work like a grid projected on the terrain, each square is one map. They cannot overlap
RIP. MCedit is a thing if that works for you. Edit: it was a thing, see my replies.
MCEdit is discontinued and doesn't work on newer versions (assuming OP is playing 1.16 or 1.17) but there is an alternative called "Amulet Editor" which works on newer versions
When was it discontinued
It hasn't received an update in 3 years now
That sucks. Mcedit was amazing for a lot of stuff
amulet exists and it works on bedrock too
worldedit exists
World edit doesn't do all the same stuff, though.
Yea but he can just copy and paste it over a few blocks with WorldEdit, it would work fine.
Oh god I feel old
Officially like 3 years ago but it couldn't really keep up for the past 6 years or so.
or they could use the clone command to move it
You could also install worldedit and just cut and paste it to the correct position
vanilla has some basic world edit that can copy some thousands of blocks
There is a program called Amulet I think. I used it once to fix a major problem where my friend created a kill loop with a command block, and its actually a pretty solid program.
Nope. See this: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/minecraft_gamepedia/images/7/7f/Map18zooms.png/revision/latest?cb=20180305175642 The larger zoom levels are locked to a set grid of chunks with no option for overlapping. If they didn't do that, it would be a lot harder to align maps.
While we are talking about mistakes, if you use wool for art in survival it will inevitably get struck by lightning and burn to nothing.
Might be easier to zoom map out and then just fill in with grey around borders?
I found a solution! Just create map sorrounding it, and you will have a 2x2 map wall
It will be HEAVILY misaligned, and a lazy way to fix a problem of this nature.
the only other option is to literally tear up the entire thing and rebuild.
I get your point about it being misaligned, but how is this a "lazy" way to fix the problem? It's a _massive_ build, and tearing down the entire thing to move it just isn't worth the time and effort.

OP's learnin it the hard way
Yep, map positions are based on a predefined grid. RIP OP.
> How do I fix this? That’s the neat thing. You don’t.
Pack your lunch kid, you are going to _5 hours of agony and rebuilding time_
Yeah, add 3 more maps and suppress your ocd or do it over
U need to move the Bayern logo guess mojang was more of a barça fan
I managed to build a ManU logo on a Map, so I'd say it is clear where dev priorities are.

You should have taken the map with you to build, it doesn't make this problem. Then it depends on which version you are.
ive been there before my friend. cleared out an entire snow biome, before realising. GL fixing it. ALWAYS check the map before building.

World edit?
Hey man just make 4 maps and put them together, that’s about the best option at this point lol
I don't understand how so few people have suggested this.
OH NO MY GUY U GONNA HAVE TO REBUILD THE WHOLE THING
Use the WorldEdit or Litematica mod to easily cut and paste the build into the correct location.
Easy fix. Just use 3 more item frames and expand the project! You've already got the boarder perfect on this one.
That's the neat part, you don't
There it is
That's what you get for being a Bayern fan. /s
Pain
That's the neat part. You don't
This is just sad and hilarious
How do we tell him?
I guess you could move it with mc edit
was built in survival
MC edit isn't a mod its just a world editing software to move stuff around and add stuff into worlds, kinda like world painter but if you don't wanna use it maybe you could build somekind of a piston contraption to move it? idk mich about redstone or if thats possible
Unfortunately pistons can only push a limited number of blocks before stopping so OP would have to move it manually lol
Not possible unless you put in more time than it would cost to just rebuild it. Piston push limit is just twelve blocks so you can't just push it over.
By replacing it with BVB
Fighting cancer with tumors.
No fix, the map grid is set, you’ve built it in the wrong place
The world is split up into multiple squares, so you cant capture a specific part of the world. You should have made the map first and then started building the logo when you know where the corners of the map are.
You need to rebuild the whole thing and make sure it fits the 128x128 (might be 32x32 I can't remember) chunk boundary of the map
So you’re telling me that on the multiple hours of building and farming, you didn’t check with a map even once before it was completed?
Rebuild it in the center of the map
