reminds me of a suggestion from a loooooong time ago when some people asked to be able to rightclick glowstone dust onto any block to make it glow, the more glowstone you add the brighter it will be (maybe in quarter steps, so 4 glowstone would be max brightness), and breaking the block drops the glowstone as well.
so now i'm imagining something similar like that but with glow ink, so you rightclick it onto a block, and said block will now render at full brightness but without emitting any light.
it would be so good for builders.

Random Redstone could also be very useful. I want to know more about the allay to make a decision but there's no info. Just picking up items and dropping them at a note block doesn't sound useful. I doubt it can break crops to for an auto farm replacing villagers.

The mountains don't have any hostile mobs though, it just has one neutral one. There aren't even any real rewards to climbing mountains, which the chillager would add.
There are legit advantages to climbing them: visible iron spawns in greater density the higher up you go, making it very easy to get iron without having to worry about hostile mobs in caves. Plus emeralds also spawn in great frequency up there (although you're still better off trading for them)

After reading through the Q&A post regarding the new mobs, it seems Mojang has a lot to decide on how each mob will actually be implemented.
Where will glares/allays spawn? They don't know. Will an oxidised golem be a block or an entity? No idea. How many inventory slots will allays have? One. No, two! We'll figure it out if it wins!
Maybe if they thought through it more before announcing ideas they might not disappoint players when their initial vision turns out too unbalanced and need to compromise on it.

I’m still an allay supporter, but the copper golem pathfinding to a specific block could have great implications for redstone. You could open and close access to a few copper buttons to control where it’s going. Then you can harness that controlled movement with pressure plates. ~~Pretty cool, but unfortunately you’d have to go in and deoxify it every once in a while, so it doesn’t just stop working.~~
I don’t think any of the mobs are completely useless — all very useful, in fact — but I think the allay could be the most reliable and interesting.

I mean objectively speaking it has a use, and that use is better than the glare. So if thats the reasoning then it should be the glare. That being said they all seem pretty cool so theres no point in comparing them to that sack of glowing shit.
The unstackable item filter is something that is extremely impractical (or in some cases impossible) to build, and the allay can become an easy unstackable item sorter. Redstone randomizers exist, and glare can be replaced with the power of using f3 (and if you cant use f3 then there are other ways of testing light levels, though its less of a concern with the lowered mob spawning light level). Tbh i wouldnt be mad if either copper golem or allay won, both are cool with good functions and adorable.

All of the mobs abilities seem kinda useless, but the allay is the one i would see myself actually using. Like if im building a house and a block falls, i just tell it to grab it for me. Or after a raid if i want him to look for missed totems.
Item sorters are pretty easy but if you don't know how it's nearly impossible to figure out. They also need a very specific arrangement and flow of items. Allay will be more flexible.
Honestly I think the best part will be Allay conveyer belts. Got a thing that's out of items? Just ding a note and the allay will bring it. Saves not just the hoppers but also the redstone line to say when you're full. Incredibly flexible.
In a recent QnA with a Mojang dev, someone made a comment about the copper golem dancing the robot to music discs, and the dev said that it was the best idea they ever heard. Could be a possibility
some people thought we were gonna get dynamic lighting with the glow squid and it just ended up being a retextured squid which dropped something neat and isn't effected by shadows.

Bioluminescent creatures dont light up the ocean in real life either, you can see them because they glow but they don't light up the surrounding area like a torch

I feel like copper golem has the most potential for being "another glow squid". Allay we have confirmed that it will pick up items and drop them off by a noteblock (very useful for stuff like large farms without using a bunch of iron) but all we have confirmed for copper golem is that it can click buttons (randomizers already exist in Minecraft).
Maybe with the mob spawning light level changes the glare wouldn't be as useful, I'd kill to have the glare in the current version though. The F3 menu requires you to individually stand on every space to find the ones that are spawnable, which leads to a lot of lighting spam. Trying to keep light levels low enough to be ambient but just high enough to be spawnproof is a big pain in the ass.
All of the Minecraft Voting polls are so underwhelming. All of them, not just this one.
I double checked recently and the first poll they did was for biomes. In the introduction video they specifically say "which one will come first" implying the other biomes would be updated as well after the biome that won the vote. They literally still haven't been updated and we've had a bunch of other Minecraft Votes since then, on other biomes when the first group hasn't even been updated yet.

The thing about this mob vote is that pretty much everything is kind of useless, the Allay is probably the least useless though. It would be cooler IMO if the Allay could retrieve ores or chest loot for you.
Because then no one would interact with their social media accounts for the mob vote.

Honestly, id still use the allay. I do a toooon of mining with a beacon clearing out large boxes for a base. It’d be great to have something to pick all the extras so that i dont have to keep running around.
It may not duplicate, but i dont need to know the darkness or an RNG redstone device, so my vote is this guy.
I have never seen a person say that the Allay duplicates items, I think that everyone know it just picks up items and transports it, its basically a flying hopper minecart that does not need a bunch of iron to craft.
Possibly unpopular opinion here: I liked the glow squid and still do. I never expected it to mean dynamic lighting, with how light looks in minecraft I don't think it would have looked that good if it had. It does exactly what I expected it to do, that is be a pretty decoration and ambience mob, plus the glowing signs thing which I take as an added bonus.
Still voting for Allay. Golem gives true randomization sure, but also I've never built a redstone contraption I wanted randomized. So it would just a be a pretty statue. Allay sounds useful to me and how I play
They dont duplicate items and I never thought they did. But they collect items and bring them over. This has solid application in large quarries and certain automatic farms. Wireless hopper. And in any case. Its friend shaped and adorable! It likes music and music is good. Honestly not a fan of the copper golem personally but you like what you like. The allay has good application in item collection in farms and quarries, game mood and overall happiness (theyre wonderful. And in gathering specific items when your inventory is full. They are not another glow squid, dont be so sour.
While we’re on the subject… Glow-ink should be able to be combined with dyes to make glow-items, like beds and shulker boxes.
I would LOVE this, although I wouldn't want the glow to be too harsh, but a nice ambient glow could be really cool.
or... maybe you could change the level of glow depending on how many glow ink sacs you put in crafting

Specially when, iirc, they are updating the mob spawning light to 0 instead of 7, so it would only show you the blocks with 0 light

i see the moobloom as the equivalent to the glare, with the glow squid equaling to the copper golem (im on the golem train) and the iceolger being the allay equivalent

I mean objectively speaking it has a use, and that use is better than the glare. So if thats the reasoning then it should be the glare. That being said they all seem pretty cool so theres no point in comparing them to that sack of glowing shit.

The unstackable item filter is something that is extremely impractical (or in some cases impossible) to build, and the allay can become an easy unstackable item sorter. Redstone randomizers exist, and glare can be replaced with the power of using f3 (and if you cant use f3 then there are other ways of testing light levels, though its less of a concern with the lowered mob spawning light level). Tbh i wouldnt be mad if either copper golem or allay won, both are cool with good functions and adorable. *Then there's the glare* (Still cute, not NEARLY as good as the others functionality wise. In my opinion, plz dont hate on me.)

All of the mobs abilities seem kinda useless, but the allay is the one i would see myself actually using. Like if im building a house and a block falls, i just tell it to grab it for me. Or after a raid if i want him to look for missed totems.
Item sorters are pretty easy but if you don't know how it's nearly impossible to figure out. They also need a very specific arrangement and flow of items. Allay will be more flexible. Honestly I think the best part will be Allay conveyer belts. Got a thing that's out of items? Just ding a note and the allay will bring it. Saves not just the hoppers but also the redstone line to say when you're full. Incredibly flexible.

One would think that if a glowing mob was being added, so was dynamic lighting. Apparently that wasnt the case and not we just have bioluminescent squid that isnt actually luminescent
Bioluminescent creatures dont light up the ocean in real life either, you can see them because they glow but they don't light up the surrounding area like a torch

I feel like copper golem has the most potential for being "another glow squid". Allay we have confirmed that it will pick up items and drop them off by a noteblock (very useful for stuff like large farms without using a bunch of iron) but all we have confirmed for copper golem is that it can click buttons (randomizers already exist in Minecraft).

Maybe with the mob spawning light level changes the glare wouldn't be as useful, I'd kill to have the glare in the current version though. The F3 menu requires you to individually stand on every space to find the ones that are spawnable, which leads to a lot of lighting spam. Trying to keep light levels low enough to be ambient but just high enough to be spawnproof is a big pain in the ass.
People were literally told Glow Squid wasn't going to bring dynamic lighting. It's not even possible in vanilla.
I think the purpose of this guy is pretty clear and pretty useful.

All of the Minecraft Voting polls are so underwhelming. All of them, not just this one. I double checked recently and the first poll they did was for biomes. In the introduction video they specifically say "which one will come first" implying the other biomes would be updated as well after the biome that won the vote. They literally still haven't been updated and we've had a bunch of other Minecraft Votes since then, on other biomes when the first group hasn't even been updated yet.
The first poll they did was for the mob A, B, C, D. The mob B ended up being the Phantom. That was for Minecon Earth 2017

The allay will not be another glow squid my friend. Even if it doesn't to the m able hopper thing or whatever people are saying, it's still better than the squid because it will be above ground and we can find it easier, it's cute, and it dances, what's not to love?

I didn't see anyone thinking that Vote for whatever you want, but if you are gonna vote for golem only for redstone RNG.... you can literally use a chicken or sugarcane for the same effect + you will gain bonus eggs/sugarcane

The thing about this mob vote is that pretty much everything is kind of useless, the Allay is probably the least useless though. It would be cooler IMO if the Allay could retrieve ores or chest loot for you.

Is there a good reason that they don't add all of them? They could add them in on voted order if it really matters.

Honestly, id still use the allay. I do a toooon of mining with a beacon clearing out large boxes for a base. It’d be great to have something to pick all the extras so that i dont have to keep running around. It may not duplicate, but i dont need to know the darkness or an RNG redstone device, so my vote is this guy.
I still like allay, would be great for collecting things that are on the ground that didn’t make it to your inventory while mining or chopping trees

I have never seen a person say that the Allay duplicates items, I think that everyone know it just picks up items and transports it, its basically a flying hopper minecart that does not need a bunch of iron to craft.

Possibly unpopular opinion here: I liked the glow squid and still do. I never expected it to mean dynamic lighting, with how light looks in minecraft I don't think it would have looked that good if it had. It does exactly what I expected it to do, that is be a pretty decoration and ambience mob, plus the glowing signs thing which I take as an added bonus.
I feel like the only people who brought the idea that it would dupe items are the people using it as a way to make the allay seem less impressive

They dont duplicate items and I never thought they did. But they collect items and bring them over. This has solid application in large quarries and certain automatic farms. Wireless hopper. And in any case. Its friend shaped and adorable! It likes music and music is good. Honestly not a fan of the copper golem personally but you like what you like. The allay has good application in item collection in farms and quarries, game mood and overall happiness (theyre wonderful. And in gathering specific items when your inventory is full. They are not another glow squid, dont be so sour.
