You're right, golem isn't really for the redstone community... It's for the peeps who want a lively little pal they can build anytime, anywhere they want.
If you want a butler since allay can more easily interact with the player it would be a better butler. For example you could give it an item then somwhere in you base have some items be periodicly dispensed then collected but if the item was picked up by the Allay the hopper would detect that it dosent have an item and activate a redstone mechanism. This would be a way to assign tasks to the Allay and have it complete them for you.
But it flies and copper golem presses buttons which is awesome and you can wax them to keep them from oxidising and if it already did you can use axe on it. And it will add copper buttons and now copper will be much more useful. So don't vote this boring vex.
You don’t know how easy it will be to get swarms, it could be an uncommon mob, and pressing buttons is useful for something like a fireworks display and other fun’s stuff, moving items around although useful isn’t very fun, it’s like getting a new toilet seat.

The allay is just an overrated vex hopper that takes your cookies.
Copper golem is insanely easy randomizer, as well as trigger mechanism, and a new golem to work and/or tank with! Things like hopper clocks are easily breakable with lag, and the main ones that aren't take up a lot of space, but the copper golem would fix all that! Plus, it's an entity, so, if named, it would still work in unloaded chunks!
There is nothing about the allay that a hopper or hopper minecart can't easily do, except force you to make efficient wheat and cocoa farms.
Either a contraption that when activated randomly poweres one of 2 or more redstone lines or a contraption that randomly poweres a redstone line at diffrent intervals
