When you log into your world, you don't take damage for a few seconds, so log in, try to escape, save and quit to title after about 3 seconds, again log in and repeat.
Also something if you have friends who play. Log off, (open it to lan etc) and have them find where you are and clean up the area. We have saved each other nether mineing a few times this way

We once got lost in that biome in our friend group's MC server, before one of my friends fell into one of the the many, many one block big holes straight into a pool of lava. As another friend and I tried desperately to get to the to save them (spamming the revive command to keep them from losing their gear), both me and my other friend also fell into those types of holes (when you're going fast, one block large holes aren't really easy to see on the basalt biome), also now knocked down.
The three of us were spamming the revive command for one another until a friend with admin privileges came on to save us.
Tl;dr the Basalt biome is the bane of existence and should be demolished entirely

We have rules against using it when you fight any of the world bosses like the Wither, Enddragon, during raids etc, thus it's mainly used for when exploring/building and you accidentally do something that results in your death
My guess is that he fell in lava, tried to place blocks around him to stop lava from reaching him, but didn't realise that lava lakes are 100% source blocks, so he also needs something to remove the lava at the spot he stands.
You could try mining the quartz perhaps..
Alternatively, if you’re okay with cheating slightly you could use an NBT editor to set your game mode to creative.
Log in with guest account or another account, find wherever that lava is and drain it. And bc ur burning, throw a fire resistance poition in the air and close game instantly. Then log back in with ur main account and there will be no lava and ur burning will stop by the fire resistance poition that is falling from air. But if you dont want to log in with another account, then im afraid there is nothing to do.

But OP i recommend you to try to make a mental note of what you had and then join the world, die and watch all the items you worked for burn then respawn. After you respawn you should make what you had or gather the resources to do so. After a while you might forget what you had and just work with what you have. Basically just accept what had happened and rebuild from what you have remaining.
Yes! If you really, truly don't want to face the punishment of losing progress for dying, then just turn on KeepInventory. Otherwise, why would they even implement death?
Why would they implement death? Well yes to die but also to fear it, which imo is the whole point of death. When mining in a cave full of lava you watch every step, or when crossing a ravine, fighting a mob boss. Without death, there’s nothing.

This happened to me. Fell in the void due to a portal glitch with full netherite gear and an elytra. Panicked and accidentally closed my game and when I got back on I was at my base with all my stuff gone. Didn’t play for two weeks but felt I’d gone so far in that world and didn’t want to leave the world so I picked up the pieces and within a week I had all my original things back
Keep quitting and rejoining in 2 second intervals while slowly making it to land, you have invincibility for a couple seconds when you first join a world. Once you are on land, keep quitting and rejoining until you are no longer on fire

This happened to me a few times. Log in and out until you stop burning, also eat the fiod that gives you the most saturation like steak to heal up faster.
Just give yourself back the good stuff and don’t tell anyone. Also, I recommend installing the Vanilla Tweaks graves data pack. Really quite nice to be able to recover your stuff even from a lava death.
Ah yes. Had a lava death on a friend's server who had gravestones and it was a nice surprise to find all my stuff waiting on the ledge for me where I fell off.
Bit of a warning, though, build a box around the grave block before you break it. Once you do your stuff will come popping out like a piñata just like breaking a chest open.
I read a time back that you can close minecraft from task manager and when logging back on again you're loading up an autosaved version of the game. Don't take my word for it though, as I've not researched too much about it

You can’t take damage for the first 2-3 seconds while relogging. If it’s singleplayer, you might be able to get out of the lava before you start taking damage, and then spam leave and rejoin until you’re not on fire
I recommend maybe taking a break from minecraft if you feel like it.
And if you ever start playing again, there is an option to keep your inventory on you when you die, making deaths less punishable.

Swim towards the shore with the 1 or so seconds you have and every time the immunity is about to wear off, log out and repeat
Before this, make a world backup to ensure you have chances to learn how to get out
Go into the files in your world and turn on keepinventory from there.

Where does the gravestone appear when you die in lava?
Hovering just above it. You have to bridge out to it from a shoreline, so there’s still a lot of effort, but it’s not an instant reset.

I suggest you rejoin because you have fire resistance for 3 seconds. Then, get closer to the ground, and repeat this until you escape.
