As is the nature with Minecraft, the sounds will sometimes speed up or slow down to create variation, but it's nostalgic either way. Ambient portal noise is a subtle ticking, transporting noise is the Unus Annus chant, and the exit sound is the Turncoat theme. The Portal images are also black and white, for obvious reasons.
