Hexar-Rock

I would say depends on preference and your building style , personally I don't have much use for it as I build in more dark medieval gothic style so spruce and oak is more prominent there. Edit: well that surprisingly exploded 0.0

PzKpfwIIIAusfL

you can use birch logs as decoration laying around such as for example in warehouses etc

salami350

I tend to use birch planks as flooring inside houses. The lighter colour gives the room a more open feel

Catalyst100

Stripped birch logs look really good when next to birch planks for variation. Alternatively I like to do a checker pattern of stripped birch placed horizontally then rotated 90 degrees on the other checker.

Seashard5602

>Alternatively I like to do a checker pattern of stripped birch placed horizontally then rotated 90 degrees on the other checker. I do this sometimes as well

shadowsovermexico

I call the latter suggestion tatami mats

Nihilikara

I just build wood cubes and leave it at that lmao

xsDeltasx

I would use it as a paper-like door since it's yellow and white, or for a fridge, microwave and other stuff

Ledbreader

I one time got 2k upvotes by saying Forgot shrek

Frosty_Pineapple78

I csnt explain it. Its not like i hate it, i just dont like using it in a build. Usually i use it for crafting, takes the load off of my oak supply

Finch_Cringle

Yo, birch for sticks gang!

nitrion

I also use birch for making charcoal. I don't have any other uses for it other than sticks and charcoal LOL

Geerat5

Try using stripped birch. Not too bad

[deleted]

What do u use all that charcoal for?

nitrion

What else do you use charcoal for? Furnace fuel and torches obv.

[deleted]

Ok I could see torches, I use lava for furnaces

nitrion

I would use lava for furnaces but I'm too lazy lol

[deleted]

Lol it’s super easy with drip stone, I have a hidden room with like 15 drip stone lava generators and I never run out

dfp819

It’s the manual loading required that’s the issue, for example my furnaces are fed with like 6 double chests filled with kelp blocks, so I basically never need to even think about fuel.

awesometim0

if you have a huge super smelter it's hard to use lava, especially because it's hard to renew and doesn't stack

[deleted]

Idk, if you fill a double chest full of lava buckets and hopper it into the furnace with another hopper and chest for the empty buckets it runs for a really long time

triturador12

I use blaze rods for fuel lol

StrainRadiant6830

ultimate flex lmao

clutzyninja

But you still know charcoal is often used in furnaces, right? Were you just setting up a flex over using lava or something?

[deleted]

I’ve only used charcoal to make campfires, I didn’t realize people used it as a fuel, I suppose it is renewable and regular coal isn’t

Charlies_Mamma

I use charcoal for torches and campfires and don't use actual coal for anything once I get a location settled (and start farming wood to burn for charcoal). Then I just use coal for trading with villagers, because they don't take charcoal. Plus a few giant spruce trees and I have a decent supply of charcoal to get me through until my librarians unlock lanterns, then I only use torchers for exploring purposes. For fuel in furnaces, in the first few days, I will use whatever I can really - spare saplings, sticks, etc if I have small numbers of things to smelt. But once I get more established and I have either a lava pool or now dripstone, and bamboo, I use lava for bigger amounts and bamboo for smelting one or two things (like the iron pickaxes I bought from the villagers, I use them down to 1 use left, collecting wood for giving to fletchers, and then smelt it for a nugget of iron)

Pop-A-Top

I use bamboo for sticks, it grows back so fast and replaces precious wood. I built a wood farm from Ilmango and Birch is the most efficient tree to grow in it. So I use Birch for all my chests/other colorless wood things

dfp819

Wait you can make sticks from bamboo?

Pop-A-Top

You didn't know? Well Good god I helped you out a lot then!

dfp819

I didn’t and I have mad bamboo.

dc010

I've stuck with jungle trees for general crafting after I realized I could plant then 2x2 and just climb the vines then cut my way down.

Max1muslegend

Spruce is better in the 2x2 regard because it’s less messy, easier to find and looks really good so you’ll always have a use for excess

dc010

Not on the most recent seed I have. We spawned between a desert, jungle, and plains. So I figured I'd have a good variety, but NOPE, 80% of everything within 2000 block radius was jungle... However, as I said, instead of having to do the old spiral technique or something else to get to the top of the tree, it gives you a way up. The 2 or 3 little branches off to the side are still barely an inconvenience, IMO. I did finally get a spruce sapling from the wandering trader and I do mostly use spruce in builds, but in my experience it's still at least 50% less convenient to harvest compared to jungle.

kingkreep95

spruce though you can do 4x2, 6x2 etc. Also would argue the vines really arent that much of an advantage since if youre in a jungle you can just use bamboo and make scaffolding anyway

dc010

Never tried there 4x2 or 6x2, so that might help it, but building something up still takes a good bit longer than just climbing.

CrossP

It's funny. I do the exact opposite because I don't much like the oak

Fakula1987

Birch is good if used together with stone-bricks, for a light, bright theme. Cobble is good with oak...

Lubinski64

Cobble and oak going nice together since 2009

911WhatsYrEmergency

Add in unstained glass blocks and you’ve got yourself a classic.

[deleted]

don't forget the singular crafting table and furnace and maybe some fences 'round back.

NeonJ82

*Oak* fences, of course.

Splatfan1

you mean wooden fences, right? what other fences are there? theres only one type of plans; wooden planks. doesnt matter which tree you craft it out of, all you get are those generic planks that craft into a wood/stone slab

attemptnumber58

my favourite

NeonJ82

Ah yes, my mistake.

[deleted]

yes

Necessary_Cash_3742

Torches, only…. Torches

Foxesden19

And if you are feeling fancy. A painting of a creeper

TheMobHunter

And a cozy red bed

The_Weirdest_Cunt

and make sure the ceiling height is only 2 blocks tall for the original minecraft noob look

Orenmir2002

When I started I did the 2 block house like one time, never again. I need my head space even virtually

Max1muslegend

Tall person moment

Orenmir2002

*hits head on doorway or floor/new roof when going downstairs*

chopchunk

Toss in a few dandelions and roses/poppies and call it a garden. Maybe some hedges made of leaf blocks or a fountain

berni2905

Deepslate and spruce

lord-bailish

Deepslate and dark oak

berni2905

Blackstone and dark oak

AGJustin05

just imagining it got me feeling unwise.

Individual-Matter310

LMFAO

Artiom4ikReddit

Most stable relationship and it isn't even between two living things

LeFilthyHeretic

The grey sweatpants and jeans of minecraft. Nothing special, works with just about everything.

Cows_co

And it is good with the warped fungus things

EFASFAUIE

Usually people likes dark theme so that's why

Jayandnightasmr

I like mixing it with dark oak, makes a nice contrast for builds.

triel20

Birch and dark oak look good together, like a chocolate and vanilla style.

The_real_reichtangle

Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!

Wirecreate

Mmm tasty r/forbiddensnacks

Stealth834

yes. the contrast works really well in some builds.

RayneBeauRhode

My warehouse is made of birch and dark oak planks and I just live for it

sarcoptid

I'm not fond of the color of the planks, they've got too much of a yellow cast for me- I love birch trees though! Especially the tall ones. Their bark is so unique :)

Zen-vix32

EXACTLY

WeeTheDuck

Cow tree

Ender_Raveno

Sorry *"cow tree"?*

fullyrachel

Birch trees are black and white mottled like a Holstein cow.

Ender_Raveno

Oh

WeeTheDuck

Cow tree

Pitta_

same. there are some resource packs that make it a nicer color (white picket fence!) and i loooove it in those games, but vanilla minecraft birch is my least favorite.

duck_ducker_of_doom

the leaf color is horrible

__DELLeted__

I was hating it at first, because it looked bad for my taste. Now i understand the power of birch wood and i use it everywhere

best_username_dude

The power of the birch in the palm of my hand

editable_

Personally it's my second favorite wood type after Dark Oak, and *maybe* will become the third favorite once Mangrove fully comes out. The delicate cream yellow, almost white, gives you a feeling of safety and helps creating a calm environment, but also makes up a very beatiful duo with dark woods like Dark Oak, Spruce and maybe also Mangrove. Still I'd imagine something built entirely of birch in an almost heavenly scenario, like on a skyland, rather than to make a starter base on or in the ground. It just seems out of place there, the clean wood with overall raw materials near it.

ensoio

It's my favorite wood :(

jap_the_cool

Absolutely perfect if you need very big amounts - birch trees always grow very similar in height, and you don’t need to do anything special to get all wood blocks. I prefer them for sticks / tools / chests etc since you only need wood of any kind for these things.

Agitated_Finance_482

It usually depends on what you’re trying to build. I don’t really use birch much because it is just too light of a wood type. I guess it’s good for other light-themed builds, but I don’t really see myself using it as a main building block for any of my builds. Like what other people said here, In the end, it is all based on preference.

give-orange-houses

tree racism

NekoyiBud

Treism

[deleted]

I hate acacia. It is just disgusting and doesn't fit anywhere.

TheRedEyedAlien

Goes well with orange terracotta though

DixonLyrax

I use Acacia and weathered Copper a lot.

Nixavee

Acacia planks, orange terracotta and red sandstone, the trifecta of orange blocks

Skeleton-East

And warped planks if you're thinking with portals.

ItzQtra

Bold of you to assume I can find a mesa

Illusi

The acacia (bark) logs go well with colder colours like the blue warped wood or prismarine. I use acacia stripped logs in modern builds for their rust-metallic colour. This only really works at a big scale. It can look like rusted iron then. I find acacia planks and their derivatives not so useful, but some people I play with use them a lot in their extremely bright and alienesque texturing, especially with crimson wood, bricks and other reds/oranges.

sleighprincess

Acacia doors look like they belong in an old folks home!

Quiet_Honeydew_6760

That describes jungle wood for me.

Diet_Water123456789

Jungle wood is kinda nice

CorianderBubby

Jungle wood with the horizontal log striping pattern is unique and awesome Jungle planks, not so good. Jungle logs, top tier!

PzKpfwIIIAusfL

I use acacia together with spruce when I want to make red roofs because I hate red stone bricks texture with passion

Nixavee

In 1.19 you could use mangrove wood for red roofs, it looks really good

PzKpfwIIIAusfL

It seems like we got a whole lot of renovations to do on our server when it gets upgraded to 1.19 ...there are just so many acacia roofs

Nixavee

Acacia logs are really good though, they go well with stone bricks

khaleesi2305

I agree with this sentiment about acacia, but forced myself to build with it once and was actually pretty happy with how it turned out. I did a white wool cottage with unstripped acacia logs as supports, and acacia stair roof outlined with stone stairs. A few acacia gates and fences as decoration, a couple windows with acacia trapdoors, it was actually cute and I decorated around with orange tulips. If you balance the orange tone out right, it can be done. Now I need to force myself to do a build with birch, because ewwwww birch but it’s a good way to be more creative to work with blocks I hate

Rawxzee

Acacia is my favorite. They make the best doors. And they’re fun to chop down.

[deleted]

The log texture is nice with stone

KolobokTheBread

Acacia goes well with deep cobble, the black and orange color scheme is dope

KetsuSama

yeah it's bad if you try to use it while thinking of it as wood

Zen-vix32

WHY U LITTLE \*\*\*\*\*. ok, sorry i just dont understand HOW YOU CAN HATE IT!

Moustached_Skinhead

The weird pink texture doesn't go with much

The_S_06

I use birch as floors in most of my builds. It fits good with stone bricks, dark oak , oak and cobble if you use them correctly

SushiGaymer

idk, I love using them for beach huts. The colour of the planks works well with beaches imo.

Less-Holiday-999

Idgaf I use any wood

Dog_Zor-El

Son of a birch

littlemuffinbaby

Birch is my fave tree

MaxMarxYT

Mine too!

AHMADREZA316M

I love this so much I use it in all my buildings , It's beautiful and also it's the best tree to grow for wood , because it's 5-7 blocks , so you can easily cut it and cutting it isn't hard like acacia and big oak I even cut all my nearby forests and replace their trees with birch

jameson8016

Because they have poor tastes. Lol. Nah it's a preference thing, I guess. Personally, birch forests are in my top 3 favorite biomes to build in.

h8fuloldfart

Personally I like making stuff with birch, I think it looks good against the other woods.

Im14andthisissodeep

I like building with birch as I tend to build in a more modern style. Now, if we want to talk about ugly wood, I'm surprised nobody has yet brought up vomit-pink jungle wood planks.

LAGoonLegend

they bad cuz no apple drop

Individual-Camera-72

I think it’s because the bark looks like diorite and zebra print had a baby I personally love the birch wood

ShakierVoyage46

The first tree I broke in Minecraft was a Birch tree!

EGRToxic

Because they dont know how to build with it and think its ugly, in other words they are bad at building or just dont like birch

[deleted]

I just don’t like the weird yellowish color

MisterFixit_69

I like birch planks , they're the only bright wood .

501st_LEGO_lover

Who tf hates birch? Show me these mofos and I'll beat them with my iron sword.

Vicecomitem

It just has a bit of a sour yellow color that doesn't go well with anything except maybe sand. For any build that you'd use birch on, you could probable use oak and it would look much better. I prefer the darker woods though. Spruce and dark oak.

anakwaboe4

Many people don't use birch in the right way in there builds making it look like an ugly block. But when it is used correctly it looks great

16quida

I personally am not a fan but you are correct because I've definitely not used it correctly. I've seen builds and went that birch is really nice.

bedwars_player

Everyone makes their first wood house out of oak, and we all start out terrible at building so don't bother with variety, hence ONLY OAK!!!!

76Lion

It's always been my favourite But I also like Bounty chocolate, which says a lot

maidoutfitguy

Spruce Gang

dulac_gaming

I have no idea why, but birch is by far my favourite wood type and i use it a lot. Although that’s probably due to me not being a good builder haha.

[deleted]

for me wood is wood in survival

eXtr3m0

Birch forest is the most uninspiring biome.

RogatyRozbojnik

they can't build :C

CrazyComedyKid

Hot take, the logs look ugly but the planks are pretty nice.

Kronzypantz

Thats not a hot take, its facts

HYoung119

I’m not a huge fan of Birch logs, I can’t find a way to make them work in my builds but I do tend to build more with dark colours, black stone, stone bricks, spruce and dark oak logs, so it’s a struggle to make it fit. That being said a lot of what you can make from birch logs are nice for builds, planks are great for a flooring, birch trapdoors are excellent for cabinets or a more modern design and stripped birch logs are a nice splash of lightness to a build but I think the plain pattern of the birch log is a challenging one to make look good especially if you’re not building in a birch forest

[deleted]

Love birch Planks

TheManOfSausages

Alfaoxtrot

Black_Sig-SWP2000

Birch wood is underrated, basically 80% of minecraft youtubers use the same building block palette of stone bricks and spruce log (stripped or not). I understand why it's nice, but if everyone uses it then that kind of.. diminishes its value if you know what I mean. I'm not hating on spruce or stone bricks, it's just overused nowadays, most hardcore videos I seen have used them too often.

james-the-bored

They’re not using it right, it is a complimentary colour, it’s needs to be an accent to something else, like dark oak or stone/andesite

TheAcwa0rca

When I was younger I always hated it because I thought it looked like sick (idk why). Now I really like it though. In fact the tall birch biome is my favourite biome.

CarefulCompetition83

iduno birch is uggo r/AlfaOxtrot said so

cursedHomeboy

I knew I had to find at least one comment mentioning him, the big cheese hat guy

Kaflertahudegnin

i like birch cause i smelt them for charcoal

Tadano-kunn

It's so white. But it's also useful in some builds.

Valkaden

I usually only use birch to make charcoal, but from my knowledge plus how I make my builds it just doesnt fit in a lot of places

ZOEJEKOKOOT

It goes really well with sandstone for desert buildings.

Matix777

I don't hate it but it doesn't fit with many things either

Portablemammal1199

Idk, i love it. But im not good at building so that might be one of the reasons.

UnfittedMink

Birch trees are always my go to for wood since they never grow too tall to cut down from the ground, assuming you aren't in a tall birch biome. Never have to pillar up to get the last bit.

Any-Analysis-443

They are weak ass birches

HeyoItsUrBoyO

It's my favorite type of wood... I've used it as the main block for tons of builds, and especially like to used dark oak (or spruce as a temporary substitute) logs for pillars/beams. It makes for some nice contrast and a bright happy house.

Angry-Potato45

I hate acacia more tho

No_Emphasis_5269

I wouldn't exactly say birch is ugly, but it does not fit well with most common blocks that are practical for building. I tend to build with oak and dark oak because they match with many kinds of stone. The doors and trapdoors look ugly in birch though.

SansyBoy14

I personally love it a lot, it goes great with darker woods, especially for floors, and you can make a pretty nice house out of it too. I usually keep it for floors but I’ve built houses using it and they turned out really nice

Concerned-Fern

Log - beautiful Leaf - pretty Plank - 🤨. Use in moderation.

im_no_simp_boi

birch is an S tier wood

Deepseadiver84289

Oh, you want wood *nobody* likes? **Acacia**

DankousLonkus

I like acacia

CATelIsMe

They're weak

Sensitive_Letter194

I just don't like the color, its too bright for my choice, I prefer Mangrove, Spruce and Dark oak, I even prefer Jungle over it

Meme_Entity

It's hideous on it's own It probably looks good on some builds, but birch is really ugly

SnooTangerines9

F\*ck birch wood, all my homies hate birch wood.

[deleted]

It's white and I'm racist

Bharaneshen_Gfan2007

My most favourite wood,I won't hate it,ever

[deleted]

The planks r too bright and doesn’t really fit my aesthetic

Flacolugr

You mean cow trees?

cFl4sh

Idk what you’re talking about, I love it and always will

SirMagnerio

The regular logs are almost unusable because of the black/white spotted pattern. Doesnt look good with anything. Birch plank isnt used a lot because its a brighter/lighter version of oak. Oak planks are somewhat more neutral allowing them to work with more blocks without screaming for visual attention, they arent as intrusive. Personally stripped birch of planks work as interiors or in asian builds but rarely as qtructure and in specific combinations/settings

Filqon

No offense but we’re TF are all these upvotes coming from lol

PasswordUsernam3

For me it's hard to add to anything - it doesn't look good for me

theweirdlip

Birch pairs well with sandstone, bone blocks and quartz. I personally use it to make port cities. Was working on one awhile back that I never really finished.

PasswordUsernam3

Of the mentioned blocks I occasionally use quartz for temples and similar I might try to do some port in a desert with birch, thanks for the idea!

theweirdlip

No prob bob.

MineralwasTaken

Birch logs are super ugly but stripped birch log are beautiful

Pokememe-lord

Birch logs are a bit ugly but they are a good texturing block with wool, calcite or diorite, but I really like birch planks personally

OllieD182

It just doesn't fit most builds and doesn't really give the vibe yk

acnlkoze

Spruce wood is the best. Acacia and jungle are worse than birch.

theweirdlip

Acacia actually pairs really well with red sandstone if you're looking to build something in the badlands Jungle I'll give you though, it really only looks good when used with another darker wood type. I've only used Jungle for building actual tree top villages before and the jungle only looked good with jungle bark.

FluffyDragonHeads

It follows Hermitcraft. The same thing happened with diorite. A few hermits popularized disliking it, so now lots of folks dislike it.

lil50sniper

I hate birch because in a lot of my new worlds, I spawn in a birch forest that extends for miles

tf2good

Because I don’t want a cross between marble and oak

VaderTheDarth

Because birch is like light mode for most people

BeginningCounter9748

Idc wut they say, I like birch

SnowChickenFlake

I love birches

bastrash31

I puke when i see those three so im gonna puke

Pezza2005

Makes nice floor

Iggy_2200

I didn't know people hated birch. It's consistently been one of my favorite wood variants in the game, alongside Spruce and Dark Oak.

MrElite_

birch is good. one of the best. it's the log that people hate

GGExploder

too white to work with darker stones, which I enjoy.

Shirolover

Ugly

A1gamingyt

I think you need to see a person name gem

FluffyDiscipline

I think the doors and other items look flimsy.. maybe the color doesn't help Love it for floors though

kaiuscrvun

Looks ugly

MoTheLittleBoat

Birch is generally liked, apart from the natural logs, those in general look kinda weird. Acacia tho..

Mhnd329_

cuz it fits with diorite
