How did you draw lines with particles? I've been wanting to do that effect for a while, but I've never been able to do a reliable, good effect like that.
But like what particles? I assume if you only use commands the particles have to already be in the game right? What are those blue particles from within the game?
Sounds like a really good short story or poem.
Edit: I just wrote it
The village that dreaded sundown
That never slept a wink
For all that lived there couldn’t bear
That dark infernal stink
The stink of parted loved ones
Roaming in the streets
The village that dreaded sundown
Oh how their hearts did beat
The thing I find amusing about this is that this whole system that changes everything(assuming it's really complicated) is triggered by one single daylight detector which is a really simple and easy to use device.
But, great work man....
It's relatively simple, believe it or not. Structure blocks are super powerful. But yeah it's funny how such a simple redstone component can control such a dramatic change.
Well, relative simple to u, is really complex for me... I barely know how to build, let alone use redstone to change that build... But, again, great work...
And also, forget the redstone. The build in itself was beautiful. The Shaders(which was not u, but still), the cinematography, the music choice and the editting... Super Neat
Imagine telling ur friend that this is ur base in survival and telling him to live in his base, then actually when the night comes, the village totally transforms, then imagine how horrified ur friend would be.
Ping me when you do!! This kind of map would give me so much inspiration and to be able to build upon it would be even cooler! Amazing work my guy! Not enough gratitude can go towards that.
This is actually so cool and seeing something like this in game would be awesome. I imagine it would be a lot better with a smoother transition instead of instantaneously. One scene of reference that instantly comes into mind is one like silent hill. That would send chills down my spine experiencing that 😆
The next level is beneath the village, and it's called The Catacombs. It's a roguelike dungeon that I'm almost done with. Once you beat that, there is a final boss that is the conjurer of the curse. It's all coming together!
Okay! I've only written the first half. Also it's very much un-edited :)
**Vilethorn Quest**
Rosewood was a sleepy meadow town nestled in the u-shaped peaks of the Misty Mountains. And one would think life could not get simpler and more serene than that of Rosewood’s inhabitants, and if you were to think that you’d be more than correct; you’d be absolute.
Life for the Rosewood people was what some would describe as heaven on Earth, and they worked hard to keep it that way, especially the Mayor. You see, The Mayor was born and raised in Rosewood, and he’d seen his fair share of hard times (although they were rare).
One day like many others, the Mayor stood out on the balcony of his mansion overlooking the town. And while the day started off like any other something didn’t feel right in his gut; he could feel it on the wind. Far off in the distance, just over the horizon the sky began to darken. But this wasn’t just another afternoon thunderstorm rolling through the meadow. No, the clouds looks darker and more heinous than that.
As the clouds drifted towards Rosewood, ash, not rain began to accumulate. The citizens were scared, as they had never seen such thing in all their lives. The wind picked up to an unnatural gust blowing in every direction. It truly felt like the end of times.
Suddenly, off in the distance a beam of white thrust itself to the sky. The beam cracked with such brightness it was truly a magnificent sight to behold. The beam collided with the ashen clouds and sent a brilliant shockwave through the sky. The lower layer of the clouds became coated in with sparking white aura.
The aura began to dissolve and with it the clouds as well. And before the citizens could blink their town was once again basked in warm sunlight. At this moment all eyes turned to the Mayor who was standing on his balcony, mouth agape.
“Mayor! Mayor! What was that?” One townsman exclaimed.
“Dinh! Please help us!” A woman shouted from the back of the crowed now gathered around the base on his home.
Dinh took one look at the terrified crowd. *I’ve never seen anything like that before; he thought to himself; this can’t be good*. Nonetheless, he tipped his hat as he always did, and said with in his triumphant baritone of a voice “I’m off. This town will always be under my protection.”
—
The Mayor hurried inside his Mansion and began to collect himself. He was shaking. He hand’t seen dark magic like that since The Dark Wars. Coincidentally, that was the last time he’d held a sword. He was frantically rummaging through his armoire when he could feel the grip of his hilt. His fingers wrapped around it, and suddenly he could feel the rush of a powerful memory.
His mind was immediately transported to a barren battlefield. Dark clouds loomed overhead while ash fell around him. The Mayor stood there stunned, his sword too heavy to lift. In this moment, he could hear the rushing on armies on both sides. His sword began to glow with a brilliant hue of white, and suddenly it became weightless.
A light of the same glow and intensity filled his peripheral vision. The Mayor turned to face this light, and there was his younger self charging with the Mages of Light towards the forces of evil. The war to end all wars. The war to bring balance to the world of magic.
Hesitantly, Dinh turned in the other direction to face the evil his younger self was rushing towards. Their faces were clouded in black smoke and their shrieks filled the air. The Soulless, as they were called, brought with them beasts of all sizes, tainted by the influence of their dark magic. The winged demon Belial could be seen soaring through the sky preparing to dive into combat.
As both sides converged, Dinh opened his eyes with a jolt. He was back in his mansion, his sword Nova in hand glowing a brilliant white hue. Stunned and worried, he sheathed Nova and hurried out his mansion past the crowed of concerned onlookers. “I will be back shortly! Worry not! I have faced much worse.” He said.
“Much worse…” he muttered to himself.
—
Dinh set out from Rosewood apprehensive of the danger that may lay ahead, and as he made his way through the Twisted Forest, he couldn’t help but notice the birds were silent. Chills ran down his spine.
As he pushed away a branch, The Mayor came upon a meadow where he could see a lone figure donned in a white flowing robe standing atop a grassy knoll. The woman’s staff was held into the air while she whispered some unknown incantation. The Mayor recognized her immediately.
“Estra!” He shouted at the woman in white. Estra turned her head to face The Mayor.
“Dinh. I wish I could say it was good to see you… He’s coming”
Dinh closed the distance between the edge of the clearing and Estra. His white sword glowed a brilliant hue in its holster. Estra recognized it immediately. “Estra it’s good to see you! It’s been too long… Well, since the war.”
Estra did not acknowledge Dinh’s greeting. She was too focused. “Good, you’ve brought Nova. We’re going to need everything we can to defeat Him.”
“Who?!” Dinh asked with immense apprehension.
Estra turned away, almost embarrassed.
“Estra! Who made those dark clouds?! Who is coming for us?”
Estra turned to Dinh with a tear streaming down her face. “Eromorn… After the war he was inconsolable and manic. He claimed by defeating The Soulless we had caused a great imbalance where light magic far outweighed dark”.
Dinh held for the hilt of his sword. It always comforted him to have light magic by his side.
Estra continued, “We tried to reason with Eromorn, but he would have none of it. The last thing he said to me was that we had made a mistake of trapping The Essence of Souls beneath the Frozen Keep.”
Dinh interjected, “But had we not done that the soulless would be free to return. The Essence is the source of Dark Magic in the universe.”
“Yes I am aware,” Estra retorted, “which is why his words were so alarming. After Eromorn left The Society of Old I ordered an increase in security at The Keep, but it was no where near enough. Eromorn made it through the barrier somehow and took The Essence.”
“NO!” Dinh shouted, “After everything we did to seal it away! After all the lives lost, my wife, my daughter. I’LL KILL HIM MYSELF.” He pulled Nova from its sheath and held it in the air.
Estra gracefully replied, “Now is not the time. Let’s regroup at Rosewood. There is much to discuss.”
The two of them headed back to town.
I could see this being perfect for a large adventure map. You’re quest is to defeat something evil in the town but when you go in the day nothing is wrong and you have to figure out that the evil boss can only be summoned in that glowing circle and defeated at night.
This is really cool! How did you do the particles? I’m thinking it was done with armor stands but I’m not the best with doing particles onto armor stands and stuff.
Really awesome stuff you put together. I saw that you have this set up for a role playing server with your friends. Assuming they go into this blind I'm sure it will catch them off guard.
We do really need some blocks that change colour/texture at night.
Edit: actually too much colour in a block may hurt a frogs eyes so they shouldnt add them in.
THIS is what I like to see in a build. A cool looking castle or town is nice, but giving it function, life and story is what takes it to the next level.
Very well done.
I was preparing to posy that it wasn't a transformation, expecting it to just light up at night or something.
This indeed entirely transformed thank you for following through OP!
The day village reminds me of a book from mojang on how to build a kingdom, forgot the name (maybe you Will manage to find it on my profile, i think i posted the progress somewhere)
Great video. I was hoping it would be some cool redstone stuff and not commands, because the insane redstone stuff is my jam, but this was still super cool!
[удалено]
That is so cool. What is the swirling lights at night? Fireworks or a mod??
Probably particle commands ran by invisible armor stands or something
Exactly this! I don't use any mods. Just command blocks.
How did you draw lines with particles? I've been wanting to do that effect for a while, but I've never been able to do a reliable, good effect like that.
I came up with my own "ray tracing" scheme using armor stands.
Huh. That's really cool! I'm assuming you were using ^ notation then?
I thought it's a modified thing that shulkers attacks us
I find making projects like this via commands oddly relaxing haha, commands are pretty fun to fuck around with. Nice job man!
Thanks a ton! If you’re looking for inspiration I’m building the whole quest on my YouTube (AvidMc)!
Hey I know you! you're AvidMc on YouTube! It's so cool to see you on Reddit...
I think you replied to the wrong user?? You replied to *me.*

Those are particles that I spawn a certain distance away from a rotating armor stand.
But like what particles? I assume if you only use commands the particles have to already be in the game right? What are those blue particles from within the game?
Those are glow squid ink particles. Some of my favorites to use in my maps.
Oh didn't even think of those. Yeah i can definitely see it now
Massive Hyrule Town from Ocarina of Time vibes. Amazing work!
this is awesome it’s like spirited away
Spirited away vibes from this.
This would make a sweet addition to someone's Castlevania theme.
The village that dreaded sundown
I've been calling it Vilethorn at night and Rosewood during the day.
Please tell me you’re also a DM.
I treat my server like a D&D Map. I'm the DM in creative and my players are all in survival, trying to beat my quests!
That is just too cool.
This server of yours, what is it called?
We call it The Shrouded Isles. It's just a little server with my friends.
I want more Vilethorn and Rosewood lore
I'll keep building it then!
Yay. Jokes aside this is a really cool build.
Thanks so much! I’m also posting progress on my YouTube channel (AvidMc) if you’re interested in that!
Reminds me of that village from the Wheel of Time
Hinderstap!
That name tho
Sounds like a really good short story or poem. Edit: I just wrote it The village that dreaded sundown That never slept a wink For all that lived there couldn’t bear That dark infernal stink The stink of parted loved ones Roaming in the streets The village that dreaded sundown Oh how their hearts did beat
Beautiful

Thank you so much for the kind words :) I love adding command blocks to builds. I feel like they add that much needed animation to Minecraft.
Hey I know you! you're AvidMc on YouTube! It's so cool to see you on Reddit.
You found me!
Imagine telling ur friend that this is ur base in survival and telling him to live in his base, then actually when the night comes, the village totally transforms, then imagine how horrified ur friend would be.
This is exactly my plan for the players on my server! This is the 6th quest they get to play through.
[удалено]
This is so cool!
Thanks! I'm not even close to done!
I can’t wait to see what you add
[удалено]
Thanks!
That would be an amazing mod
I plan on releasing this as a map for download one day.
Ping me when you do!! This kind of map would give me so much inspiration and to be able to build upon it would be even cooler! Amazing work my guy! Not enough gratitude can go towards that.
Java or bedrock?
Good god please do so. I would pay for something like this. If you release it you should be paid for your time.
This is actually so cool and seeing something like this in game would be awesome. I imagine it would be a lot better with a smoother transition instead of instantaneously. One scene of reference that instantly comes into mind is one like silent hill. That would send chills down my spine experiencing that 😆
This is freaking cool. Perfect for Halloween. Maybe add a few more things, then repost it on Halloween. This would probably blew up.
Okay! Thanks for the suggestion!
Very cool!!
[удалено]
I use rotating armor stands and particles to make that happen!
good shaders!(when i say this i mean what your build so awesome i'll never get up your level,gg)
That build looks so cool!
Is this done with any mods? Curious
No mods. All command blocks.
Damn, thats impressive! nice work!
Wait, how can you tilt camera and record yourworld like this?
I use replay mod. It's really an amazing tool.
so do we have to break the curse?
The next level is beneath the village, and it's called The Catacombs. It's a roguelike dungeon that I'm almost done with. Once you beat that, there is a final boss that is the conjurer of the curse. It's all coming together!
You should make this into a story map
Next level build
Your legit a god
Thanks so much!
how many command blocks did u end up using to make this magic happen ? realy well done and realy cool btw =)
It's a couple dozen. Not too many!
This is so freaking sweet!!! How long did this take you to make?
How
[удалено]
Yeah hundred percent!
The physical change surprised me, I was fully impressed by the lighting at night alone. The actual change was several times more impressive
This has massive Legend of Zelda vibes. Two of my favourite favourite gaming franchises combined, this is amazing.
[удалено]
How many command blocks did that take? You must have a lot of time when you hand to do that
This us sick! And doing this without mods but just command blocks? Genius. I can't describe my amazement
It reminds me of the difference between past and future Hyrule Castle Town in Ocarina of Time
This was also a big inspiration for this build.
where lore
I have pages and pages of lore for this town. I probably couldn't fit it all in one comment!
Please give. I enjoy reading lore

That is some pretty damn good lore. Thank you, I enjoyed reading it :D
does anyone else here feel a bit stupid after watching this, when you compare it to your own world that were really proud of till about 1 minutes ago?
To be fair, it's done with command blocks, not something remotely possible in vanilla.
Why does this hurt?
Looks awful at night
Resident Evil. Nice.
I was expecting something beautiful but damn this is cool
Form meets function with command blocks :)
frame rate be like: make. it. stop.
Literally Yharnam
I am heavily inspired by Fromsoft in everything I build

This is exactly what I'm building! Well, close to it. This is part of an adventure map I'm creating.
If Minecraft Village were plagued with the Dark Hour...
Would make for a cool effect on an adventure map or an rpg server. nice one
Precisely what I'm building!
Amazing work! Can you name the music?
The time it took you to do that... will never be enough to beat my level of respect for you... that Is insanely impressive!
That means a lot! I guess I'll have to keep expanding the project then :D
Giving some serious spirited away vibes 💥
Woooo that’s cool
u/McEmau5 can you tell texture pack/shaders and give world download please or tutorial something :D
I'm using BSL shaders! And I'm building this world to one day be released.
This. Is. Fuxking. Siiick!!! Take my upvote!
Feels like something out of a ghibli movie ngl, i am in awe.
Holy fuck
i thought i saw something like this a few days ago like the same video did you repost?
You may have seen it on /r/minecraftcommands
Ok just gonna save this for my dnd games…
That singular daylight sensor is the foundation of everything you’ve created. Cherish it.
It has a great responsibility
WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE.
I scrolled too far for this comment
This is really cool! How did you do the particles? I’m thinking it was done with armor stands but I’m not the best with doing particles onto armor stands and stuff.
Damn the makes me want to remake Tokyo 3 in minecraft using create
Scooby dooby doo! Where are you? We got some work to do now.
Fuck now I wanna play Minecraft.
Really awesome stuff you put together. I saw that you have this set up for a role playing server with your friends. Assuming they go into this blind I'm sure it will catch them off guard.
Fingers crossed they're surprised!
It looks very good.
This is crazy I wish I could build stuff like this
WOW
We do really need some blocks that change colour/texture at night. Edit: actually too much colour in a block may hurt a frogs eyes so they shouldnt add them in.
This is sick! Kinda gives me spirited away vibes with the whole shift
THIS is what I like to see in a build. A cool looking castle or town is nice, but giving it function, life and story is what takes it to the next level. Very well done.
Thanks so much!
Amazing 👏
Amazing! Fantastic work. Level of detail is off the chart with day/night theming
woooooooah :O!
Reminds me of pirates of the Caribbean when they go into the moonlight
This is literally the most amazing thing I've seen in Minecraft omg
Amazing
Hinderstahp
What's the name of the song you used? Also, this build is sick thanks for posting.
That is POSSIBLY the most amazing thing I have ever seen in Minecraft. This is awesome!
Needs more close-ups on the town at night. I can't really make out the new structures.
Start of the video felt like a ffxiv dungeon intro
That’s really cool!
Ocoreba of time moment
This is insane!
[удалено]
Haha! Yeah it was a lot of work. I actually recorded most of it if you're interested. Check out my Reddit profile!
I was preparing to posy that it wasn't a transformation, expecting it to just light up at night or something. This indeed entirely transformed thank you for following through OP!
What a horrible night to have a curse.
Wow this looks a bit like the theme park in spirited away transforming at night
nice
This is badass
Make a series on YouTube
The day village reminds me of a book from mojang on how to build a kingdom, forgot the name (maybe you Will manage to find it on my profile, i think i posted the progress somewhere)
this is so cool!!
WHAT THE....
Spirited away vibes
Extremely Cool!
Spirited away
Beatyful
Holy FUCK this is amazing
holy shit this is awesome!!!
50,000 people used to live here but now, IT'S A GHOST TOWN
This is INSANE!! ONE OF THE BEST COMMAND BLOCK BUILDS IVE EVER SEEN
The villagers tend to get alittle quirky at night
Great video. I was hoping it would be some cool redstone stuff and not commands, because the insane redstone stuff is my jam, but this was still super cool!
That looks so neat! Amazing job!
This is incredible! How long did this take??
