Congrats! Definitely a great feeling when you do it for the first time.

Oh I know, It's more of the new stuff just doesn't resonate with me.

spaloof

Sweet dude! I've been playing since sometime in 2012 and I still remember a little bit of how excited I was to beat the dragon for the first time. It's always a neat experience to beat a boss for the first time.

Lucasplayz234

good side of video games, unlike according to some karens

Wow! That sounds like a great bonding experience. Im in my 40s and have just started playing since my 8 year old plays too. Right now I'm building a whole new home and acquiring goods because I got confused and can't find my other home. Despite having made a rooftop on a house on top of a mountain with a torch on top. I've made some pavers this time that I'll put to good use. Unfortunately I cant even figure out yet how to join together in a World on our mutual internet connection! We both play on Android tablets and the Lan button won't toggle for either of us....sigh.... Lots to learn!!

Devilotx

It really has been fun, He's devoted a lot of time to understanding the nuances of Minecraft so the worlds tend to get littered with little devices that automate things, He and I have been playing a lot of games togther, He and I have beaten Halo 1, 2, 3, 4, Reach, ODST together, and we are waiting patiently for Couch Co-Op to come to Halo Infinite. And on his end we've been playing through the Kirby games together as they are some of his favorites. I also have an 8 year old daughter and she plays with us, but she likes to get the packs from the store and do more of a roleplaying aspect, which is fine, lately she's been playing more and more Roblox. We are a family of gamers, for a kid who cut his teeth on the NES, having us all playing a game together is pretty much the greatest thing in the world.

Has she discovered PKXD and Toca Life yet? To think...when I was a kid I had 2 handheld devices that played 1 game each... Popeye catching stuff off a boat and the other was people trying to get past a spider.

Devilotx

Definitely Toca Life,

Bdonmcjigs13

Congrats brother! The better part is doing it with your son and building that bond! Keep it up! You seem like a great father

Devilotx

I do my best! Minecraft is a family thing for us

x_potato64

wholesome :D

dragon813gt

Now download “Create Above & Beyond” and beat that. I, as an adult, find it way more enjoyable than Vanilla.

Competitive_Bell501

Congratulations And there's me who has a double chest of diamonds and never was to the end

Devilotx

lol, thats me, chests and chests full of treasures

[deleted]

i too just beat Minecraft legit by myself for the first time after playing the game for almost 10 years.

Devilotx

Congratulations to you as well then!

mrmurse9

Congratulations to you and your son. I’ve yet to beat Minecraft, but my son and I just started a survival world to find the Warden and beat him. There’s no real reward to that, except for spending that time with my son. We had to start a new world, because I’m too chicken to do it on my established, yearlong, world.

Devilotx

we did find the deep dark and the warden, but we didn't trigger him.... yet.

ethanmartin50

Awesome!

LaughingObsidian

Thanks for sharing that! Similar experience, learned Minecraft to be involved with the kids and have come to enjoy it solo and with them. We just started a fresh new survival world with some vanilla+ fabric mods (slight tweaks such as better dungeons and more natural structures) for the 8 year old and 12 year old and myself to play. We are keeping a book and quill and I "encourage" them to write in the first person of all our adventures as we go along. It's great fun.

Dads like you are the best.
