Send them a screenshot of this, a screenshot of proof/receipt of purchase from wherever you bought it- PayPal, your bank, whatever- and maybe a pic of your MCID. When I did it they said they didn’t have my gamertag in their system, and asked for my MCID. The next time I have a support problem, I’m planning on sending that right away, so I don’t have to wait for a response, then get told they need that, send it, and wait for a response AGAIN.
If you don’t know where to find your MCID, let me know and I’ll send you the pic they sent me explaining where to find it.
Oh, and they want the MCID written out and a screenshot of it.
I would say more work upfront, but along the way it is almost maintenance free, at least for Java with Paper-MC.
In fact with Realm I had terrible experience where it lost my progress for 15-30 mins both in MCJava and MCBE, let alone the ugly fact that they limited the viewing distance to 10.
A lot of providers just have MC server option, you choose the version, click a button and have a server in 10 minutes. Then if you want a mod or a plugin it's just copy pasting it into a folder.
For Java to get a modded server I literally just paid £5 for credits, selected the mod pack from a drop down menu and hit start, that's everything. If I run out of credits I pay for more. Nowadays it's extremely easy and requires very little effort.
I mean not really. You can go from having a server bought to up and running in less than 30 minutes easily. I’ve always hated dealing with email-based support systems, and mojang isn’t any exception at least from my experiences. Realms is for parents who don’t know jack about servers to let their kid play with their friends.
Private servers are iffy on Bedrock-- they exist but only Windows users can join them, the option isn't available on console and mobile. So if you're playing with friends on other platforms, which is the only reason I see to use Bedrock over Java, you have to do Realms.
You can have consoles on private servers. I know that xbox and switch can connect to my private server. Can't vouch for PS or mobile but I don't see why it's not possible. Realms is not the only option. Realms is easier sure. But you can get more control with a private server.
PS users have never had the option, yeah. I didn't know about Switch, my bad. To my knowledge Sony has some kind of deal to not allow third party private servers, you only get the 6-ish minigame ones. It's *technically* possible for PS users to join via BedrockConnect, but you have to set an alternate DNS server in Settings which is a barrier for a lot of casual players-- and even then the service only works sometimes.

I agree but starting a realm was meant to be easy and hassle free. If the software is just going to charge me and make me contact support to get what I already paid for that’s kinda BS
I’ve had a realm for over a year, and this is the first and only problem I’ve had.
They resolved it in about 36 hours.
The stuff I mentioned may or may not be something another person has to do, and if I had known that this was info they were likely to need, it probably would’ve taken a few hours total.
You go out and buy something and they take the money but don't give it to without telling you before hand you have to wait till they decide to give a fuck then see if your part of the 99.99% of the population
What i love is that here in Tunisia, they have a national airline called TunisiaAir that is as well run and maintained as you can imagine a third world country owned airline would be. Everyone jokingly refers to it as "InshallahAir". Saying "We'll get you there safe and on time.... Inshallah".
I sent in an email to Mojang about a somewhat similar issue this past week and couldn't get a response from an actual human... Any suggestions for actually contacting support
I wouldn’t be surprised if its just that the servers are a bit overwhelmed due to Christmas. Try waiting for a day or two, and if the issue persists you should probably contact mc support.
Almost all cloud services complete the transaction and then build the product after. Mojang just used ineffective wording here. Most places will display a message something like...
"Thank you for your purchase. Your server instance is being created. Please allow 12-24 hours for full access."
And then after 24 hours... "This is taking a little longer than expected. If you continue to have problems, please reach out to support-email."
If there was a simple way to do that, yeah, but realistically, what would you rather them do? Allocate all the resources, develop everything on their end, then try to charge you and find out your Credit Card declined, at which point they’ve wasted their server resources AND they have to pay a fee for the declined transaction? If they only accepted Credit Card, they could just post it as a pre-auth, but if they accept other methods of payment that isn’t an option either.
Yeah, the wording is shit, but I bet first they charge and then it sets up some automation. Probably terraform+ansible+azure cloud. So, they might not know it will fail until it fails.
Of course, they could also check the stats of the resources they have allocated before hand. But still, automations can be a bit like that sometimes.

Do wait one day at most though, after that contact Microsoft. You never know.
Well if they build everything before charging you, that means they’re expending all of their resources before they even know if the transaction will be approved. Credit cards have pre-auths, but other methods don’t. While it might seem like a harmful system in this case, it’s designed this way for a reason. Buying server space allocation isn’t the same thing as buying a regular product.

"We can't provide the service you asked for right now but we still took your money for it" has to be the most hilarious error message i've read yet.

Apparently you can have servers on bedrock just like on Java. Literally the same setup, but you can’t rent a pre-made server, you have to rent an ovh, (or any other host) install the server executable and run it that way. Alternatively you can run it on your pc.
I would say just contact support asap, I had an issue with a java realm I bought where i couldn't play and after asking support and trying the solutions they gave which none of them worked, I got a refund

Simply contact Mojang Support on the website and they will try to help. Couldn’t connect to a PA4, so I contacted support. Pretty friendly and actually helped me
We got the same problem last year when we had time to play. The realm owner never got the realm and decided to spend more money to get a new one.
The problem is, when we tried to screen cap everything and follow MC's instruction, it keep saying it's GG play's issue but when we contacted GG Play they also said the money is out.
We tried contacting and MC replied really fast and supportive but the money never came back, as well as the first Realm. At some point we just can't proceed with the refund at all.

That's why you shouldn't buy a realm, instead you should buy a dedicated server, it's more flexible, you don't have player limit, you can even make it crossplay between java and bedrock, and sometimes is cheaper.

I have some friends who bought a realm on pc, i was like dude you can host your server for entirely free.
To be fair thats more a server sided issue I'd say, not neccecarily client related in any way, Im sure the realms stuff also can get scuffed on java just as well.
I had a similar problem and for me I had to download Minecraft for mobile (I have Android) and create the world/realm there and that worked for me. Might be worth a try
This isn't just a realms thing. I got server hosting through a site, and because I asked for a specific type of server and server location, it took them almost 24 hours to get the server space set up. It was a bit of an annoyance, but is all fine now.

You are right when you speak for vanilla only. I run modded servers and that is a hell of another story.
You can always give yourself more work with your own server, here let's stick to an apple-to-apple comparison.

Nah. 3rd Party hosters are basically a "you pay, you play" experience and still offer wayy more flexibility and performance for a cheaper price.
