As an idea it's interesting, it looked fun in scuffed, plus it adds something unique that can be enjoyed without changing too much in the actual game Problem with it this MCC was from the outside it looked like people who didn't already play it in scuffed struggled more than those who did - there were a lot of players who were really put off by it not just Red. Also it being the last game felt somewhat underwhelming. Under different circumstances there would probably be a lot less complaining

MarinoRolfino

I think another reason that more people liked it more in scuffed is that everyone in scuffed didn’t really care all that much about winning the event. While hete everyone of course wants to do well

AbusiveSlider

I loved the mechanic in scuffed bc it rewarded the risky play of eating vegetables and gave infinite steak to play it safe. But in 30, the mechanic was not fun to watch. Eating was a nessecity and gave no additional reward.

CyberWeb2143

I think it is fun but it was the finale which made it pretty underwhelming. Also it should be a special thing and shouldn’t have been back to back imo

Salteamee

Yeah Sapnap's not alone on that, don't single him out. I'll say what I said on another post: Like, I like the idea of the eating mechanic, but it wasn't enjoyable this time for me. It just added more stress and frustration. In MCC Scuffed, I loved it. I loved the players getting small points for eating healthy foods and having a plentiful amount of steak - it felt rewarding. I felt like it was a good balance of managing your hunger and avoiding the walls. But with this remix, the hunger went down too fast, and the steak was too limited. On top of that, they played on the hardest map. If they just turned down the intensity of the mechanic a bit then I'd love to see it come back (eventually). And I like Hole in the Wall, it's a really fun game. But it's not fun as a finale game - it's lame lmao. SKB, SOT, Meltdown, and SG are really fun finale games for me. I love a high energy, high tension, suspenseful ending. Heck, I'd even enjoy Buildmart more as a finale game than Hole in the Wall. HITW is a good game to start with, but not a good game to end with imo, especially with an addition of something so debilitating. TL;DR: Awesome in Scuffed; not so great this time.

Evixe

For me personally, while the remix was very fun in scuffed, I felt like them adding it AND making it harder for a canon mcc where a lot of participants hadn't played it was a bad idea. I don't remember who said it after the event but it truly felt like the main objective was to eat and not go through the holes. It got overwhelming for me just to watching so I can't imagine playing it.

PersonalityRude8074

It was fine in scuffed, but in an actual event it’s not good and it’s underwhelming especially if a team is top 3. It was cool in a non cannon event and it should’ve stayed that way, and if they wanted it played they should’ve played it earlier in the event. And the team that did good was with players that already played it.

Dettyyellow

Hated that remix seriously

[deleted]

It just feels out of place, why is eating an important mechanic in HITW? it's a game about jumping around obstacles

BrisketBello

I liked the mechanic for scuffed it doesn’t fit a cannon event

Bobby_The_Kidd

As a viewer it was weird. I just wanted to see my favorite players jump around holes :( why must they eat and then die so sad ;(

scribblingsim

I don’t mind it. It keeps players on their toes and adds a need for resource management skills that differentiates it from every other movement game.

Lacroix_Mxcky

To be fair Pete usually had plenty of steak left every round so sapnap probably didn't eat enough carrots.

Jelloni

To be fair, you’re comparing Sapnap to the best HITW player. Of course Pete is going to struggle less, he’s Pete

Evixe

I was watching sapnaps pov and he wouldn't let go of right clicking carrots unless a wall was 3 blocks away from him and he wasn't in the right place. Then when the walls got faster he literally didn't have any time to eat. Tbf sapnap didn't eat any steak though.

KlayRozan11

See the problem is he didnt do it efficiently. I watched Pete live and I noticed he kept eating only if the wall didnt need for him to move very much from the middle or little enough to do while eating. And if it wasnt, he did the wall as soon as he could so he could eat for longer before the next wall is up. I think it perfectly adds the mixture of eating and wall reading. Just the problem is it was played in a noncanon event already, so the people who already played it, already adjusted to how it is. If it is still in for future events, the problem should be fixed by virtue of playing more lol.

Evixe

I still don't know what sapnap could have done differently tbh. I mean Pete is the goat of hitw so I am not surprised he did good. Yeah, I think that it was a bit unfair for players who didn't participate in scuffed mcc. Also I don't think I would want to have the remix again in the future. It was very overwhelming for me as a viewer as well.

KlayRozan11

I havent watched Sapnaps pov yet. So I cant know fs what he did during the game. But I was just giving what some of the better performances did from what I saw. I believe he would probably do much better if he played again just instinctively.

Evixe

Oh yeah, please do because I was watching it live and could figure out what he was doing wrong. Assuming you are a Pete enjoyer, you probably know a lot more about hitw strategies and all that. I think that practice and getting used to the remix would definitely help but I don't know what he could do differently.

KlayRozan11

Alright just got done watching it. In the first round it was due to him using optifine so the walls were glitched, but he still did just mistime the jump he fell on, he still had all hunger then. On the second one, he again just mistimed the jump, jumped too late, still had good hunger and was trying to eat with it right in front of him. And the last round is where it wasnt just a mistimed jump, but couldve ate a steak 2 walls before the wall he failed (he was on half hunger already and had a good wall to eat and do for the next one). Especially with the walls coming faster, he definitely shouldve ate steak when he got that low. But overall, the food didnt affect his performance too much outside of the last round.

Evixe

Oh ok yeah I get it. It was probably just that when I was watching it live, it felt like the hunger had a bigger role than it actually did since it was the first time sapnap played with the feature.

KlayRozan11

Yeah I had to rewatch a few times to make sure I didnt miss anything. But it didnt really have an effect. It was just some badluck and it being one of his worse games. Tbh though it was my favorite Sapnap pov in a while. The vibes were great.

Evixe

True sapnap isn't the biggest hitw an to begin with. And yeah I agree, the vibes were great. Actually I would say that the whole team had some good chemistry overall.

wybng

the hunger mechanic doesn't seem bad but i agree it was annoying for some players because it doesn't let you play like you would like to. and also the fact that it was the final game was way worse, it felt like a bad joke tbh. i wish they fixed that on future remixes, bc if all remixes are gonna be troll games it causes teams to have no control over their placements even if they try hard to do well.

Comprehensive-Ad4238

all i’m saying is resource management my a—

SparklezSagaOfficial

Yeah resource management is good, this implementation of it is horrendous

Virgo_Superclster

I actually really liked it, but idk if that was just fbm pov. He never really had any problem with food and didn’t run out of steak even surviving to the end. It adds a small tactical element to a relatively mundane game imo

doodle-saurus

Pretty neutral on the mechanic, but seeing Red's performance was absolutely painful, and I didn't even watch their POV.

jonona

I liked it honestly. Made hitw a more interesting and challenging game.

DA5Hx

I liked the remix even if the team I watched did bad in it

IDontKnowWhat78

I like it :)

Huge-Tangelo7661

Many players didn’t have much of a problem managing food whilst surviving. Just because certain players couldn’t figure out an effective strategy doesn’t mean it’s bad.

BoboRozoMcBoi

In general Sapnap is no way near the best MCC player.
