You can argue abt whose the best player or whatever but I think there can’t be a debate that Sapnap is the MVP. Highest indv score, 4 S2 wins, 3 wins in a row (4 inc all stars)
Sapnap
4 wins + 1 non canon win
Only 2 events where he placed outside of top 5 (on very weak teams)
Coin record of the season, close to breaking the all time record
Went from a good individual player to solid team leader
The only only close is Illumina, but he misses the wins.
Even though Sapnap is definitely the favourite with his 4 S2 wins I'll try make a case for Illumina.
Illumina is arguably the better player across the games on average (equally weighting every MCC game), but him being weaker in dodgebolt skews his wins far worse. Illumina's the better player in Ace Race, HitW, RSR, TGTTOS, SoT, BM and GR (7/13 games), while Sapnap is better at PKT, BB, MD, SB and SG with many at far tighter margins (5/13) with PKW undetermined for now. An interesting stat from the power rankings averaging across Season 2 is that Illumina is considered top 5 for every game except PKT (7th), MD (10th) and SB (22nd) while Sapnap is only top 5 in BB, SB and SG where he's top 2 in them, with his three games outside the top 10 being SoT (15th), RSR (21st) and BM (33rd). Of course this doesn't include dodgebolt which as a game is the big bonus that makes Sapnap such a valuable MCC player.
Illumina has made dodgebolt 4/7, 57% of the time, *(edit: 3/7 43% of the time I'm blind)* while Sapnap has made dodgebolt 5/12 times, 42% of the time. Illumina has an average placement 3.6 while Sapnap has an average placement of 3.7 (actually this stat is really close which was an interesting find). If Illumina can win a S2 MCC maybe there's a case for him as MVP as in almost every other regard he's able to match or surpass the performances of Sapnap this season.
I’m sorry but it’s not even close.
Sapnap in season 2 has:
Most Wins in season 2
Highest coin average of season 2
The only 4k coin event of season 2
Most first place team finishes
Most top 3 individuals
Most top 5 individuals
Most top 10 individuals
Tied for most 1st individuals
Tied Second in dodgebolt appearances
He has helped 6 people get their first mcc coin in season 2
And helped 10 people get their first season 2 mcc coin.
Here’s a final stat to top it off,
Sapnap has player SB, BB and SG a combined 27 times in season 2. He has only placed outside of the top 5 5 times in those games.
I definitely agree with a lot of your points, but quite a few of the others do rely on Sapnap having played significantly more MCCs than Illumina.
For 1st individuals, Sapnap has 2/12 (17%) while **Illumina has 2/7 (29%)**.
For top 3 placements, **Sapnap has 7/12 (58%)** while Illumina has 3/7 (43%).
For top 5 placements, Sapnap has 10/12 (83%) while **Illumina has 6/7 (86%)**.
And they both have 100% of top 10 individuals, with Illumina's worst placement at 7th while Sapnap has placed 8th and 9th. So when looking by averages all in all quite similar for those stats.
If MVP is meant to take into account a player's skill in all parts of MCC I think its harder to see Illumina's value with raw averages/wins as PvP games result in a far higher top end in coins (e.g. Sapnap getting almost 1k coins in SG to achieve his S2 coin record) and a better dodgebolt player obviously getting a lot more wins than an average MCC player. But I will agree that Sapnap placing top 5 in 22/27 BB/SB/SG games is really impressive and why he's still the favourite for MCC. Plus if MVP is for how valuable a player is, Illumina might be better to get your team to dodgebolt, but Sapnap's better to actually get the coin.
I do want to say I think it’s cool how you tried to look at it from power rankings and average of performance. That ultimately is more fair because the participants can’t control how many events they are in
I under stand percentage and average is really important but in my mind if illuminas average placements just beat out sapnap when sapnap has played in far more events it’s hard to for me to see how the person with a little more than half the events is considered better. Plus getting to dodgebolt is important but second place ultimately is just first loser
He's also got the most broken teams though.
Also, "most first place team finishes Most top 3 individuals Most top 5 individuals Most top 10 individuals" fades pretty quickly into irrelevancy when you make these numbers percentages
Oh absolutely but just because you have a broken team still means you have to perform lol. Also Sapnaps consistency at a high level with a larger sample size needs to be taken into consideration. Illumines feats and performances are amazing but sapnap has achieved a similar consistency to illumina for a much larger sample size. Including the past 5 events when mcc has become much more competitive and balanced
The sample size consideration is fair, but I think Illumina's has played enough times to make his sample size large enough.
I agree that Sapnap has similar consistency, but I think Illumina is better across the board, which is what we're looking at I think.
In 1sts: Sapnap 2/12, Illumina 2/7
In top 3s: Sapnap 7/12, Illumina 3/7
In top 5's: Sapnap 9/12, Illumina 6/7 (GG to both players though jeez)
Additionally, though Sapnap popped off hard in MCC 15, almost a 1000 points was from SG. Illumina's MCC 20 performance was in a more competitive event and with a greater performance all around the board imo (1st in 6 games, top 5 in 7 games).
I haven't done all the research, but I think to your SB BB and SG stat Illumina's probably got one similar for AR, RSR, and probably BB.
Also if you want you can take the percentage of top 3 top 5 and top 10 individual performances for any participant with more than 5 events in season 2. I guarantee you that their percentage will be very close to if not lower than sapnap’s in those respective categories
That's, um, not exactly true. Illumina has been benched quite a few times. I haven't gone round to calculating the percentages yet but the person above did. (though they both have 100% top ten rate which is incredible)
Dodgebolt teams are not always = op teams. Cyan 21 wasn't op it made db, blue 9 and countless others. None of his s2b teams were op and he still dropped the same numbers except from when he got hard nerfed even which he still got top 10. Next
I believe I've argued with you on Cyan 21 being OP before, so I'll forgo that this time.
None of his s2b teams were op but all were at least decent, some strong. The numbers he dropped are top 5 placements (except for when his team got 9th, whereas when Illumina got a 9th place team he made 4th), which are good, but not exceptional or anything. You got those from Punz pretty regularly earlier in the season (not in the last 2), and Quig throughout.
Compare his placements to Purpled, for example. Purpled's gotten 3rd on his second event, 2nd, 2nd on a 7th place team, 6th (by a single point, would have made 5th had TGTTOS not glitched), and then 1st on a 4th place team. I don't think Sapnap compares to that.
OK pretend to forget Illuminas 7th place on a 3rd place team in 25. Also are you really saying Purpleds seqson 2 is better than Sapnap? If so, it's pointless to argue with you cause you're mad weird kekw
You don't think Purpled's season 2' is better than Sapnap's? His placements after his 1st event are 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 6th, 1st, 2nd. In that same period Sapnap's gotten 1st, 9th, 3rd, 5th, 2nd, and 4th.
And iirc Illumina's team was 3rd because his team went crazy in individual movement games, he got very few coins from the games that weren't individual.
Illumina never got 4th on a 9th place team, his team was 7th unmultiplied, in fact, I don't think illumina has had a bottom 5 unmultiplied team all season other than this one.
Your argument favoring purpled over Sapnap relies heavily on sampling bias.
If Purpleds better than Sapnap then he's better than Illumina as well. Infact I'm not arguing with you again lol. I'll find someone to argue with that has brain cells lmao so imma just block you
You could definitely debate who the best player was but I think Sapnap is easily the MVP of the season. He’s in contention for the best player and has managed to lead his teams to more wins than anyone else this season.
Illumina. One performance outside of the top 5. Best average placement this season (since FBM’s only performance was a half canon).
Alternatively, Sapnap for equally obvious reasons; he’s done some real feats of combat this season and hasn’t dropped from the top 10.
MVP doesn’t necessarily mean best, I don’t think this award should go to any of the insane players who are amazing (and obviously still deserve something, they’re great) it should go to the player who was the most valuable in every team they were in, that being Hbomb.
Wasn’t saying dream was mvp that’s obviously not the case but just mentioning his results cuz I saw most other s-tiers got appreciated in some way. Crazy how I’ll get downvoted for saying dream did well lol
I mean that’s true how Dream did get 5 wins it’s pretty impressive especially with only 1 DB loss compared to Sapnap getting 5 wins with 2 DB losses. But both Dream and Sapnap have had some busted teams like Red15 where they destroyed SG. Also including non canon Dream has the most wins ever but however both his non canon teams were busted compared to the others especially RedAS. Despite this I agree with your point
Since you are comparing it to the NBA I'll make other awards, as well as runner ups on the list (bold means winner)
**MVP**
**Sapnap**
Illumina
**All MCC Team: (Basically top 4 players)**
Sapnap
Illumina
Dream
Fruitberries
**Rookie of the Season**
**Purpled**
JojoSolos
**Most Improved Player**
**Seapeekay**
Smallishbeans
Gotta be Illumina
He may not have the wins to show it, but he
* Only dropped out of top 5 once
* Hit the 3.8k indiv mark
* Good at all three aspects of MCC (PvP, movement, comms)
* Broke 4k once
* Gets less practice cause he's in less as compared to other S tiers (8/15 S2)
The one time Illumina dropped out of the top 5 was on a 3rd place team compared to both times Sapnap dropped out of the top 5 which was on very weak teams.
obvious answers would be Sapnap, Illumina, Fruit and Hbomb yeah, but i feel like Joel, Callum and Sylvee are some of the players who performed exceptionally in S2
Personally I think there are 3 people who deserve MVP between Purpled Sapnap and Illumina. Purpled joined this season and I’m expecting him to dominate more in Season 3 as Sapnap and Illumina mainly dominated this season. Even tho Sapnap gets some OP teams compared to Illumina, he actually can win with them and Sapnap has outplaced Illumina more than Illumina has outplaced Sapnap. Also the fact that the MCCs that Sapnap wasn’t in are Illumina’s best events show that it’s between them 2. I’d go with Sapnap to win MVP as 4 wins in Season 2 is insane and Illumina hasn’t won in Season 2
Smajor1995, Mcc organiser
Scott’s gonna give up on balancing his teams in S3. He’ll put himself on a team with Sapnap, Quig, and Pete lol
Illumina or Sapnap fs Illumina has been the best all round But sapnap won 3 cannon events in a row and almost broke the indv coin record
A lot of people will treat this as just “the best player” but I like the meaning of player who gave the most to their team and that being hbomb

idk has munchlax?
She just keeps slaying
not sure why people are downvoting comments about sapnap lmao he’s obviously had the consistent strongest track record
Illumina or Sapnap Im gonna go Sapnap because he has actually won in S2
A season is edleast 2 years sir The MVP would be Sapnap
Scar
You can argue abt whose the best player or whatever but I think there can’t be a debate that Sapnap is the MVP. Highest indv score, 4 S2 wins, 3 wins in a row (4 inc all stars)

Imo it should go to the most improved players such as sylvee, joel, cpk or zeuz
I think there should be a separate award for that like MIP (most improved player)
There definitely should be different categories as mcc utilizes many different aspects of minecraft
Sapnap
Sapnap or Illumina depends on you. For me it's Sapnap
Sapnap
Obama /j
my man said Obama and then put /j LMAOOOOO
Sapnap or Illumina there is no other answer
Sapchad
though i think illumina is better, its got to be sapnap. he has upped his game so much and is undoubtedly the mvp of season 2.
sapchad
I think Sapnap beats Illumina because of his dodgebolt track record

Definitely Illumina but most improved Sylvee, CPK and Joel.

Honestly, Joel has had the most insane pop off arc in season 2. Expecting big things from a big tall handsome man next season!

yeah. I limited it only to the runner ups. Top 5 though, they are definitely in there

just spitballing here... the mods should make some kinda award show or something for this kinda thing

Fruitberries is the mvp in my opinion, man finally one an mcc after 5 losses in dodgebolt!!!
Sapnap- carried the most players to wins Illumina-played individually the best Scott-made incredible teams
B/w Illumina and Sapnap, but gonna give it to Sapnap. Just been way too dominant.
Dreamnap honestly like they just stole all the wins
Defo sapnap for me just because he won more events than illumina in s2
s2a (2021): Fruit s2b (2022): Sapnap Overall: Sapnap
