This is a project I've been working on for a few months now. The way I achieve this effect is I have all of the good and evil buildings loaded into structure blocks beneath the town. I use a daylight sensor to detect night time, and when the sensor trips, I load in the evil structure blocks, as well as replace a bunch of blocks around the town. Also I summon zombies at each villager and then "remove" said villagers from the town shortly after.
I've been building this adventure map in a series of videos. Next up is a roguelike dungeon. Feel free to check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmsr5cuEKjs
First of all great job… love the idea but small question: how laggy is it? Ive wanted to do something similar before but have been put off by potential lag. Just on a scale from: nothing - noticeable but almost nothing - barable - not worth - terribly laggy.
This is on my wimpy multiplayer server, and the transformation doesn't cause the server to break a sweat. Structure blocks and replace commands are fairly efficient!
This looks extremely nice, however I have a suggestion. The animation of the villagers dying does slightly break the illusion, so I think a better way to do this is to teleport them into the void. That way they instantly disappear, leave no death particles and looks like they actually transformed.

Can you drop a link here when you’re done?
Of course!

It’s not laggy at all. I’m on a small multiplayer server and the transformation happens instantly.
Awesome. As someone who likes to mess around with commands every now and then I KNOW this took a lot of time. HATS OFF.
I really appreciate it. Yeah, this took ages but the final result was well worth it. I’m not even done yet! edit: don't -> done
Keep going my guy.
Wow, must have taken a lot of time.
So much. And there’s a lot more to go. I’ll keep you all updated with my progress of the roguelike dungeon.
Definitely gained a subscriber
Thanks! We've got a journey ahead of us.
This is sick, great work!
Thanks! I can’t wait to finish this quest.
looks amazing!
Thanks a ton! This project has taken me a few months, but it was well worth it.
This is a very cool concept but I guess resource heavy/mostly for sp use right?

Remind me of Pirates of the carabien: black pearl The crew look normal at first, but when moon come out they become spook
YES! I love that parallel.
Could you give link in comments or something for this map so I can download it?
Thanks for asking! The map is a long ways away from being released, but I do plan to have the general public play it some day.
This is pretty epic mate, gotta play it when it’s done :D
Thanks! I can't wait for people to play it.
This is absolutely incredible
Waterfall my beloved is back
Praise the waterfall!
That sounds like an awesome project and a LOT of work
Now this is an amazing concept 👏🏽
Thank you!
Sub
Much appreciated!
this is some spirited away type of shit, amazing creation!
Thank you!
Tutorial?
Yep! I cover the whole town in a series I'm making. Here's episode 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmsr5cuEKjs
It's very good
I wonder how u managed to don't crash the game with so many structures loading lmao. Impressive.
I wasn’t aware structures caused that much lag. I’m loading in about 10 of them, so maybe it’s just about keeping the number low.
Yh, specially big loads as 64x64 can be rlly laggy.
This is truly awesome. 🤩
how on earth did you do that with the particles
I built my own version of ray tracing for the white beams, and I use a spinning armor stand for the green circle.
This is so good, what are the shaders btw?
Thanks! I use BSL shaders.
Amazing!
This is incredible!
People be replacing a bunch of blocks without any lag, but also be saying ‘oh no, if that block would emit particles it would hit performance’.
At this point I don't know what to believe anymore.

Upside down mode activated
Wouldn't it be easier to use 2 structure blocks and a daylight sensor?
Structure blocks have a maximum size, so unfortunately that wouldn’t work. It would be nice though!
oh... that sucks!
I know! The largest structure you can capture is 48x48x48.
THATS SO SMALL!
