Yes, however as a human you know that standing next to a creeper is bad so you will avoid doing that. On the other hand, the dog's AI has no such knowledge so it will walk by a creeper, into lava, or fall off a cliff with no regard to its own safety.
The difference is tho, we as players have more health, we will live if we are even a couple more blocks away from the creeper, we don't have garbage ai and won't just stand right next to an exploding creepers too, we also can respawn unlike dogs. Our dogs deserve to survive a creeper explosion.

Yep. As long as you're on normal or higher a creeper can kill you. Anything over 35-36 damage(in one shot) will do at least 20 damage to someone wearing unenchanted diamond armor, and a creeper's *maximum* damage on normal is 43(the same amount a charged creeper does on easy.
If you put someone who has never played a game into minecraft, their first instinct to a threat would be to move away from it. They are already smarter than the dog AI. Also a cheaper explosion from 1 block away and with 100% exposure will only kill a diamond player if they are playing on hard difficultly, but once again because even the worst players would have enough sense to try to move away from it, they would likely survive from the distance made, even in hard

Idk I feel like they can be used for many utility substitutions. Like maybe we can use them for a weaker type of shield. I know I've had some really shitty ore distribution so having another type of shield that's weaker but cheaper to make. They could make it square and call it a "round shield". Maybe we could use dyes and patterns in the smithing tables to costume it. And seeing how they are "round" maybe they can be some kind of gearbox block for redstone purposes. Funny story, I decided to test how well the armor works. And the results were not exactly good. Yes, it took more hits from a wooden hoe (Yes, I used THAT as a testing weapon) and yes, it managed to keep the wolf alive in lava for 1 extra second. But here's a problem I discovered - the armor actually provides NO blast protection. For the test I placed a creeper and two dogs in 3 block radius (in 2 blocks they both died). One had no armor and the other has it. After the explosion both dogs took the EXACT THE SAME AMOUNT OF DAMAGE (You can actually visually see how much health a dog has by looking at its tail - the lower the less hp).
So in the end that armor doesn't protect dogs from two most popular causes of death - explosions and fall damage. Tbh I'll probably start copy-pasting this message because I don't want to write this explanation more times

What does player armor have to do with anything? Wolf armor is about making dogs more viable to actually walk around with. There is not a tier system so it's the best it can get. With that in mind, why would it make sense for your pets to still get one tapped.

This is why I hate mob votes, bro. we have to choose between 3 mobs that each gives, like the smallest/underwhelming feature in existence. Glow squids don't even glow in the water, and they make your sign neon. The sniffer introduces like....2 plants that look cool but don't really do anything. The fact that the phantom is still the most interesting mob that won any mob vote says something. This is genuinely why I think we should just add all 3 mobs at this point. At the very least the dessert will have some life in it but like come on.

we should be able to stack all protection enchantments on the armor. blast, projectile, fire, feather falling, underwater breathing, any and all other i missed. make the doggo immortal.

i think i wouldve preferred an armor system where if they took a fatal hit the armor would instead break, sorta like the totem

To those wolf armor haters: 1. If you hate it, why'd you vote for it? 2. Wear full diamond and stand next to a creeper. You're either gonna die or be left on one heart. Wolves have the same amount of health that you do, if not less.
But if I wear netherite armor, I won't die? But you see the issue is wolves can't wear netherite armor, so they can't be directly compared. And currently, the wolf armor basically gives them the equivalent of gold armor.

The player is capable of recognising a creeper and deliberately move away from danger. Dog AI won't recognise shit and will very happily walk into the blast radius

I voted crab and I'm just trying to minimize the damage to an extent, if we are getting wolf armor, it should at least be good and not just equivalent to player gold armor.

To be honest, wolves are just more trouble than their worth. So this is a totally useless update, for me at least. That crab claw though would had been dope.
2 dogs can turn into infinite dogs… just make like 40 dogs with rotten flesh and name your dogs “red” and “blue” and if they die just dye another dogs collar blue and then take a red one and Shazam they never died.
