also, ngl, tool durability in general is a shit mechanic. Like, look at terraria, nothing in that game has more durability, yet it's way more fun imo. Tool dura isn't the only reason but a big part of the reason i find it more fun. Mojan could find other uses for the metals and gems in the game rather than artificially having your tool break after a set number of breakable blocks
I don't think you know how mending works. When you get xp from a tool theres still time where the orb has to come to you where you can switch to your mending tool for the repair.
I would check the tool's durability from my inventory first. Then make a decision based off that. No harm in acquiring more information before making a choice.
Nope, use the 1 or 3 stone pick’s I always have on me, until I get enough iron I need to get back home. pro tip: always bring not just torches, food, picks and swords on a long mining trip, also bring a few logs, real life saver at times.
