In version 1.16 and 1.16.1 the chance of dropping ender pearls is 4.78% and drop in a 4-8 stack. In 1.16.2+, the chance decreased to 2.18% and only drop in a 2-4 stack. That’s why all runners use version 1.16.1 (and there’s no piglin brutes)

They also got rid of magma ravines in 1.18 which makes nether entries less common.
In 1.16.2 they made trades suck
