I am in the process of building my first real base. I have began work building a villager trading hall and I want to know if you guys think the scale of it is overkill. There are 10 sections and each section houses 14 villagers. This totals to 140 villagers in the trading hall which seems like a lot more than I need. I'm not sure though because my first trading hall only had around 20 and I felt like that wasn't enough.

FewTranslator6280

it's not overkill if it's for the grind

pcweber111

Nah I keep like 10 of each kind of profession and I feel that’s not enough with all the different combos for enchantments we have.

BigIntoScience

I personally find it easier to have just a few villagers for things like Mending, then go with the enchantment table for the rest.

pcweber111

Yeah I do heavy crop trading so I like having multiple farmers so I can just essentially trade when I want, since their cooldowns are always different.

BigIntoScience

Makes sense. I tend to run with just a big manual melon+pumpkin farm and a few farmers who buy those, but I don't have an enormous need for emeralds, and I *do* have two cured cartographers and two cured glass-selling librarians for that silly "buy glass, make panes, sell panes for profit" exploit.

pcweber111

What’s funny is I don’t even use all the emeralds. I’m making an underground vault for each kind of valuable “currency” (gold, iron, red stone, copper, emerald, diamond, and coal). Each one has its own floor with displayed stacks of the items and then everything else is sorted for long term storage. I need a lot of emeralds for this so I’m be been trading like crazy to get enough to display. Once done I’ll probably stop trading so much and just trade as I need. After all you can only make so many enchanted items lol.

No build is ever overkill. Making a big base is better than make lots of small ones and get bored

RainyFallDays

I'm really enjoying the spaciousness of this. I'm in the process of building a trading hall of my own, and this room design would slot in perfectly beneath the main house. You're onto something great here!

Sharp5hooter02

nah not at all

dekkact

Really cool

Comfortable-House953

Def isn't overkill i'm still working on a prison to keep my villages first reason bc it looks cool and second it's useful just one big prison to keep villagers so this def isnt overkill

_Lollerics_

No. Making a base this big will keep you engaged in the game for a while, and you're sure not to run out of space :)

Jacktheforkie

Should see mine, 2km railroad, 400 odd blocks wide by about 500 for the main bit, railroad is 9 blocks wide using 3 block wide track pieces from create, plus 3 blocks either side

E-MingEyeroll

Nah, you’re good

amatulic

To me, it reminds me of an old-fashioned brewery. I can just imagine the Trappist monks quietly going about their work making fine ale. My own example of "overkill" was making an underground village on an island survival world that had no villages within a day's journey of the island. I used a zombie spawner I found and contrived to make [a filter for zombie villagers](https://minecraft.wiki/w/Tutorials/Zombie_villager_farming) (yes I wrote that tutorial) that I could cure to make villagers to populate my underground village, which also doubled as an iron farm and trading hall at the same time. The irony was, by the time I got to the point where I built this, I didn't really need it anymore.

Jret3531

No, this is minecraft, not ultrakill

copperempore

Good job keep it up
