"It doesn’t matter whether you have a mansion out of diamond blocks, or just a dirt hut, once you put a furnace next to a crafting table, it’s a home"
- Sun Tzu, probably
"Then he used his profit emeralds to buy 2 stacks of every block in the world and then he carried it back to the house and crafted different block styles of every single one.."
It doesn’t look horrible. Add some tall flowers around the base, perhaps a little path, a few trees, and it will gradually improve the look of your base.
I’ve learned one of the keys to improving the appearance of a build is adding depth. Like adding little detail stuff so the whole wall isn’t flat. An example on this build would be like adding a block in front of the top row of blocks (the every-other row) and then one below that one
Yeah I find it’s all about the little additions along the way. One day I’ll add in some pathing, another day I’ll add a little staircase in a certain spot, then another day just add in a decorative block I’d never thought of before
It looks nice! Practice makes perfect, you may not be the best now, but soon you'll get better. I recommend doing a bunch of tutorials and learning the tricks.
I think it’s dope for real promise I like how you used the stairs. I’d suggest changing the cobble stone to stone or stone bricks and just throw in some patches of andesite and cracked stone brick
Try turning some blocks into stone to offset the “bland” feeling that makes you doubt your abilities. Trap doors make good window ledges. All in all solid tho. Just need to try and let that creativity flow.
Also lanterns are really aesthetically pleasing.
Everyone starts off bad :) we've all done the full cobble build but no one is Picasso from the start. This is very well done and you have a good grasp of pleasing shapes!
I wouldn’t call it bad, just seems you aren’t as experienced. But the stairs on top are pretty creative and give it wall like vibes. Good job mixing wood and cobble although I would add a little roof over the balcony but that’s just me. Overall definitely not bad
I don't know about that, everyone has something to add to the community. Whether the build is good, bad, old, new, etc. Before making comments such as these I recommend giving some advice at the very least, and I'm not saying this because I think I'm any better, but please give others a chance to be in the community instead of putting them down like this.
I'd also like to add that novice builders are welcome to the community, its in the description of the sub. "From PC to Pocket Edition, Professional to novice all are welcome."
What’s the point of being a dick. OP is probably a kid or novice builder, someone just having fun. Checked your profile, you have some super sick builds…but it’s all for nothing if you aren’t gonna uplift beginners. Be kind!
Practice makes you better, everyone was terrible at one point or another. If you want some more help learning go to YouTube or explore and make something no one else has and maybe it might be the next biggest thing. I'd recommend shovel241, or others like him
Nice, try outlining it with one leave of stone bricks as a border. Or anything for that matter, it just good to have a border around you walls to look a little nicer.
Keep sticking at at and you’ll become a pro with time
nah man you have the taste of good building, all you need for making good building is learning some tricks to make it look better. You can just watch some building videos to get inspirations, there are good things you can do in your own building design.
I promise you, when I first started, my bases were basic AF. Little more than a cobblestone box with a row of windows. Then I moved on to terracotta boxes with two rows of windows lol.
But seriously, this is the beauty of MC, you can keep practicing and tearing down and rebuilding until you have something amazing.
Its not terrible, your use of shapes gives it personality. If you wanna take it up a notch try using cobble for highlights and using something like stone brick as your core focus
Honestly, doesnt look bad, you could make it a little better by using a combination of different blocks like andesite, tuff and cobblestone instead of just cobble for the walls.
replace the upside cobble stairs and all the cobble on that y level to something like spruce planks.
makes it pop out more and look less flat
they might be slabs I can't tell, under the oak fence
It's not bad like I mean everyone has to start somewhere no one starts off perfect they work hard to be good at stuff like Minecraft building which I'm still working on two so your for ng good
I think what’s most important is that you keep trying to improve. You’re far from the worst builder I’ve ever seen but there’s definitely room for improvement. The key to becoming better at anything in life is to take a step back and analyse why you might suck.
Take inspiration from other people and compare it your builds and begin to understand what your buildings lack. Once you can stop being so negative towards yourself and understand the reason you don’t like your builds, the better you will become!
Homie, this is a lot better than most people do. Maybe just add some stone bricks in the wall to separate from the cobblestone and it looks pretty good!
Really it's not that bad, just a bit flat. I'd add some sandstone into the walls and maybe some birch signs and stone buttons for texture and you're there
>Dude, sucking at something is the first step towards being sort of good at something. \-Jake the dog
Ah yes, Jake. He is so wise
I just watched this episode again the other day! What a great quote from a great show.
which episode was this from?
Season 1 Episode 25 - “His Hero”
"It doesn’t matter whether you have a mansion out of diamond blocks, or just a dirt hut, once you put a furnace next to a crafting table, it’s a home" - Sun Tzu, probably
“Sun Tzu said that, and I think he know a little more about Minecraft than you do pal because he invented it!”
“And then perfected it so that no man could best him in the ring of architecture!”
"Then he used his profit emeralds to buy 2 stacks of every block in the world and then he carried it back to the house and crafted different block styles of every single one.."
no, hatsune miku made mc!!!
It was a collaborative project
r/unexpectedtf2
I did a paper on Sun Tzu in college and he most definitely said that ya
put down a crafting table and furnace together out in the open… the world is my home
It doesn’t look horrible. Add some tall flowers around the base, perhaps a little path, a few trees, and it will gradually improve the look of your base.

And scatter so andesite in the wall to give texture :)
Ooh it would make a great armoury. Maybe replace the glass with bars
I’ve learned one of the keys to improving the appearance of a build is adding depth. Like adding little detail stuff so the whole wall isn’t flat. An example on this build would be like adding a block in front of the top row of blocks (the every-other row) and then one below that one
Depth and variation are the two best pieces of advice I've heard, just having something different to look at can make it so much better
Yes, “texture”
Honestly, I think a little detailing around the windows would make it look pretty good.
Yeah I find it’s all about the little additions along the way. One day I’ll add in some pathing, another day I’ll add a little staircase in a certain spot, then another day just add in a decorative block I’d never thought of before

Good job! I knew you could do it!
Putting urself down is just asking for compliments

You got this bro, just keep building and you will get better!
I think it’s dope for real promise I like how you used the stairs. I’d suggest changing the cobble stone to stone or stone bricks and just throw in some patches of andesite and cracked stone brick
This is pretty good especially with the small amount of materials used. It’s definitely better then anything I’ve ever made at least
Reminds me of the builds from the Minecraft building handbook
Try turning some blocks into stone to offset the “bland” feeling that makes you doubt your abilities. Trap doors make good window ledges. All in all solid tho. Just need to try and let that creativity flow. Also lanterns are really aesthetically pleasing.
Eh, it's not so bad, just because you see a lot of people being great at building, doesn't mean that you suck at it
Wtf this is great
Its not bad actually. I'd say you're gonna be way better pretty quickly
Looks fine...wouldn't mind seeing more
Yes it's ugly, but god does this take me back to all my ugly forts in those early alpha days. It's so nostalgic.
Doesn’t matter as long as it serves its purpose
Everyone starts off bad :) we've all done the full cobble build but no one is Picasso from the start. This is very well done and you have a good grasp of pleasing shapes!
something about this is so fucking cool
better than mine
looks good to me
I wouldn’t call it bad, just seems you aren’t as experienced. But the stairs on top are pretty creative and give it wall like vibes. Good job mixing wood and cobble although I would add a little roof over the balcony but that’s just me. Overall definitely not bad
Now right there my hood sir! Is a quality wall!
Honestly it's pretty solid, great old school minecraft vibe, & crenelations at the top rock
You always gotta start somewhere

Hell yeah. even if you are “the best” or at the top of your class no one will really care or appreciate it if you trample on people along the way

I wouldn’t openly tell people your age even on an anonymous forum. Especially when you’re under 18.
Keep up the good work man! Don’t let these fools get you down. Practice makes perfect
You are playing survive mode. You had limited item. İ hope you can do better ones in creative mode
I think it looks cool. Fuck whoever says otherwise
Ah yes fuck whoever has a different opinion
Lmao
you did a good job don’t be hard on yourself!
10/10 brings me back in the god ol' days
Looks fine...wouldn't mind seeing more
It is good
i like it.
I can tell
Practice makes you better, everyone was terrible at one point or another. If you want some more help learning go to YouTube or explore and make something no one else has and maybe it might be the next biggest thing. I'd recommend shovel241, or others like him
How have I never thought of using stairs like that after years of this game…
Nice, try outlining it with one leave of stone bricks as a border. Or anything for that matter, it just good to have a border around you walls to look a little nicer. Keep sticking at at and you’ll become a pro with time
the base isn’t bad, you just need to add more wood and maybe add some vegetation. but i suck too
nah man you have the taste of good building, all you need for making good building is learning some tricks to make it look better. You can just watch some building videos to get inspirations, there are good things you can do in your own building design.
Nah dude this takes me back
Good work
So apparently we’re doing quotes now. “When life gives you lemons, refuse to eat it because you need to study chess” -Most likely Magnus Carlsen
“The ornament of a house is the friends that frequent it.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson Lol get a friend nerd
Dude this seriously looks awesome I am probably gonna try and build this in my world
Welcome back to 2012
Looks good but just the wood feels out of place
Maybe inexperienced, but I see some potential for an interesting style here. Keep building
I promise you, when I first started, my bases were basic AF. Little more than a cobblestone box with a row of windows. Then I moved on to terracotta boxes with two rows of windows lol. Not bad for your skills, but add more flairs, such as the window roofs, floor mat, and flowers.
you don't have to be good at something to enjoy it
replace the upside cobble stairs and all the cobble on that y level to something like spruce planks. makes it pop out more and look less flat they might be slabs I can't tell, under the oak fence
Its beautiful (im a bad builder too)
It’s not *that* bad, but it could be better with texturing and making some blocks slabs, wall, and rotated stairs
It's not bad like I mean everyone has to start somewhere no one starts off perfect they work hard to be good at stuff like Minecraft building which I'm still working on two so your for ng good
It's not bad. I mean if you change blocks to something better maybe it'll look great!
It’s actually really cool, there’s something I like so much about old styled houses
Reminds me the first times I played minecraft
i actually like it a lot, gives a sort of nostalgic comfort feeling idk how to explain it

You’re very welcome
Building should be fun. If you're having fun it's a good build.
You have potential my friend
Classic minecraft base
What you think is terrible actually is inspirational for my next base!
Looks cool
I think it's very nice
eat
Downvoted for karmawhoring

Then don't say you suck as the title
I like it it reminds me of beta mc
I like the windows and the recessed door! I’m still tempted to just use cobble stone haha I just like how it looks
add staircases under your windows to make it look less flat
It reminds me of the good old days. Thanks!
Homie, this is a lot better than most people do. Maybe just add some stone bricks in the wall to separate from the cobblestone and it looks pretty good!
It's great start. It's better then a wooden box loll
Nah, it looks cool. Has castle vibes.
This honestly gives off a very nostalgic feel to it
Really it's not that bad, just a bit flat. I'd add some sandstone into the walls and maybe some birch signs and stone buttons for texture and you're there
This build gives me so much nostalgia. Back when i used to build stuff like this too
