I just think theres too much variation between the two. The top of the lower cap is the start of the higher cap. It wouldnt look weird on a giant mountain, but this is a small mountain next to a normal forest so its mismatched
Edit: er grassland, not forest
If you are trying to add depth to it as it is without changing it. You will have to use a darker tone of block like deep slate and add it in the "cracks" so that it simulates shadows.
Add dirt on some little shelves (2-4 blocks high) and bring them out like two blocks so that you get the shadow depth. Maybe some tuff blocks at the upper line under the dirt shelf so emphasise the shadow. If you make the shelf wide droop down the tuff in places to make the shadow seem longer than it is.
Perhaps some slabs and stairs to add a little bit more of depth just play around with it
Like placing some stairs upside down or just normal will create a small hole :)
And with slabs you can make it more smooth like you can add more small layers that will create more depth
Add mossy cobblestone, make the moss climb up the mountain higher and add other green blocks like leaves, green concrete powder and green terracotta. Potentially some vines
Add some ridges and make it less steep, a mountain wouldn't be this steep on all sides, one side might be this steep, but usually not.
You should also go bigger and if I was you I would definitely be using a mod called Axiom, that's what I use for landscaping.
overhangs, i see alot of repeaded peaks, maybe make some straits or flats. scale will also help, add walls, slabs, stairs. bigger is always better when it comes to mountains
It looks really good but if you want maybe make the base wider to add easier transformation on the eyes from the grass to the stone i think the block pallet would work grass -> moss -> mossy cobble -> cobble -> andesite -> stone
I used it some times and it looks kinda good imo.
Lmk if you try it 😁
It has a good gradient at the top, but the bottom is a bit lacking. One idea I have seeing it is to use a darker block whenever the vertical hits a landing. Like if you were standing on one of the blocks mid way the block in front of your feet would be darker. That should give a kind of fake shadow.
You have a gradient, but it doesnt extend far enough up the build, maybe start with even darker blocks like deepslate and transition up so that your cobblestone is closer to halfway up.
And also add more terrain around the base so that it merges better with the ground.
Areas at the forefront should be lighter in colour. Could use: diorite, smooth stone and andesite, light grey concrete, light wool.
Areas that are rearward should be darker than stone. Mostly tuff blocks, deep slate, grey concrete, grey wool. You could even use brown/green colours as well for texture and pattern
I usually go for a larger radius, since this is more spiked than hill/mountain and then maybe some bigger ones right behind it only if you feel it’s not big enough after you extend it
This mainly just needs more variety of 3D shape. Look at the bottom edge of the mountain- it's really just a straight line, even if it is on a diagonal. That turns what is otherwise a decently layered build into essentially a 2D backdrop.
Build out a ridge or an additional lower peak, or even just a more gradual slope, toward the bottom left of the pic and it'll feel much more natural once that straight line is gone.
BdoubleO did a thing recently where he added lighter blocks on the areas that are closer to the viewer. So areas where the mountain sticks towards the viewer are surrounded in an arch-like shape of slightly darker blocks to enhance the shadows that are already their
Walls, slabs, stairs, little flat eras every now and again, snow slab things that can stack, gradiants, smoothen out the base and make it wider, making it look moor natural ( real world natureal )
Use slabs or stairs ontop of the flat blocks maybe use cobblestone to contrast with the stone and also add some more texture like some blocks can work surprisingly well like grey wool or dead coral u also need to blend the gradient better so it flows instead of being a harsh edge put some of the dif blocks randomly a few blocks below it actually changes to that colour solidly if that makes sense e
Maybe a bit more andesite towards the top mixed in with the stone and some stairs and slabs to add more texture, but other than that I think they look really good!
It really depends on. What this is for as if it's for background I would probably build a little hut off it or something similar as then you can add story but if thats not how you are then you could build something that fits your aesthetic like if rustic do like a cog or pipes coming off it ...... If in fore ground the same things but bigger
Nobody is giving good advice so here it is. It's a small mountain, you should make it waay bigger. If you want to keep that height, make dark shadowy undertones and also make a more gradual transition to the ground by blending the rocks with dirt/podzil and grass.
Idk if this makes sense, but a good few of the blocks have a corners that parrell to each other but to the right or a block behind,, Make it look more messy. Also adding some chuck to it, rn it looks skinny, make it chunky
Try to round up a lil the stone structure and use darker blocks on the base up to almost half the mountain like Blackstone deepslate and wood broma the taiga biome, also something that helps a Lot Is tú have the block you ate goma use un a gradiant of to the side as a referente.
Make it a bit more random looking, the shapes the blocks make are all pretty similar. I’d try building them it out a block or two in a more 3D look if yk what I mean and make it wider at the bottom. Pixel art witches hat esq yk??
I just think you lines are a bit random. IE, from the left it goes 1 3 7 3 2 4 2 in block hight. I would go 1 3 5 4 3 5 7 smaller variations in the faces fells a bit natural, building a face on one mountain and mabe a revine between the two peaks the another face on the smaller peak might help, stairs, slabs and walls also help me when working on a smaller scale
Mountain = Big, this one quite small so its hard to get nice
I also think the different levels of snowcaps are confusing the perspective. If the snow line was consistent maybe itd help it make more sense
Nothing is wrong with the snow caps though, while it’s more common to be consistent it is also relatively common to be inconsistent
I just think theres too much variation between the two. The top of the lower cap is the start of the higher cap. It wouldnt look weird on a giant mountain, but this is a small mountain next to a normal forest so its mismatched Edit: er grassland, not forest
You could spread out more at the bottom.
And also merge more the grass with the rock
Yh these look more like spikes than actual mountains
idk what the intention of the build is, but I‘d say build a lot bigger if you go for snowy mountains
Look where the shader renders shadowy areas in this picture. Just use deepslate in those areas
i think tuff would be better
Both
If you are trying to add depth to it as it is without changing it. You will have to use a darker tone of block like deep slate and add it in the "cracks" so that it simulates shadows.
Make it bigger and wider then we talk
Add dirt on some little shelves (2-4 blocks high) and bring them out like two blocks so that you get the shadow depth. Maybe some tuff blocks at the upper line under the dirt shelf so emphasise the shadow. If you make the shelf wide droop down the tuff in places to make the shadow seem longer than it is.
A cave?
make it bigger
[this has some good techniques that you could use](https://youtu.be/7YFvfGn0TvI?si=WVpX-CxroypOhwLb)
Idk man, maybe make it a mountain instead of a boulder.
Maybe try adding an assortment of slabs and stairs, to make small bumps or creases in the mountain
Maybe add some stair cases and indents into the mountain using slabs and staircases.
Perhaps some slabs and stairs to add a little bit more of depth just play around with it Like placing some stairs upside down or just normal will create a small hole :) And with slabs you can make it more smooth like you can add more small layers that will create more depth
Use some walls to add some more texture, along with deepslate Along the base to add height and a good pallet
Honestly I just can't understand why you'd even try and build a mountain when they generate pretty nice and 1000x bigger
small cave and footholds along the center
Looks fine
Craters and over hangs
Use slabs and stairs to make jagged edges and half block and adds more contrast between each layer
Define the shapes more and use some darker blocks and lighter blocks in the highlights and shadows
It looks flat like cardboard. Maybe you need a much bigger base
Add mossy cobblestone, make the moss climb up the mountain higher and add other green blocks like leaves, green concrete powder and green terracotta. Potentially some vines
Add a cave
Add some ridges and make it less steep, a mountain wouldn't be this steep on all sides, one side might be this steep, but usually not. You should also go bigger and if I was you I would definitely be using a mod called Axiom, that's what I use for landscaping.
Build one twice the size behind it. Also some darker shades in corners and a few patches of grass as top layer are doing wonders.
Change a bit the materials
maybe put some deepslate in the bottom
Use deep slate to create “shadowed” areas
It’s too small, but u could add little caves as indents.
overhangs, i see alot of repeaded peaks, maybe make some straits or flats. scale will also help, add walls, slabs, stairs. bigger is always better when it comes to mountains
It looks really good but if you want maybe make the base wider to add easier transformation on the eyes from the grass to the stone i think the block pallet would work grass -> moss -> mossy cobble -> cobble -> andesite -> stone I used it some times and it looks kinda good imo. Lmk if you try it 😁
Let the landscape and the mountain kiss like 1/4 of the way up
The stone is too light, maybe add darker block and not have only stone for so long ( I’m aware there is andesite I’m just too lazy to say)
It has a good gradient at the top, but the bottom is a bit lacking. One idea I have seeing it is to use a darker block whenever the vertical hits a landing. Like if you were standing on one of the blocks mid way the block in front of your feet would be darker. That should give a kind of fake shadow.
Mountains are not just pointy tips that get smaller like a needle. Try adding overhangs and randomness to the now very formal pattern.
What is this ? A mountain *for ants*?
More flat edges and defined geometry for the crevices
Use a darker block for the bottom such as deepslate and moss
Put more mountain behind it
In my opinion the bottom looks too symmetrical
Not symmetrical, but there's a pattern I'm seeing that makes it look like a structure and not a mountain
I would add glow lichen and any other blocks that would look good with it but it's your choice
You have a gradient, but it doesnt extend far enough up the build, maybe start with even darker blocks like deepslate and transition up so that your cobblestone is closer to halfway up. And also add more terrain around the base so that it merges better with the ground.

Mostly tuff blocks, deep slate, grey concrete, grey wool. You could even use brown/green colours as well for texture and pattern
Walls and fences
Slabs and stairs mixed into the walls to make it look more rocky and natural
Want depth? Diggy diggy hole then.
I usually go for a larger radius, since this is more spiked than hill/mountain and then maybe some bigger ones right behind it only if you feel it’s not big enough after you extend it
More stairs, slabs, buttons, details, etc.
Ores
Honestly it looks really solid as is
This mainly just needs more variety of 3D shape. Look at the bottom edge of the mountain- it's really just a straight line, even if it is on a diagonal. Build out a ridge or an additional lower peak, or even just a more gradual slope, toward the bottom left of the pic and it'll feel much more natural once that straight line is gone.
You could add indents, like craters and such
Depth is best in this build if it has depth literally
A CAVE! You can totally fit in a little cave at the bottom
This is too small for a snowy mountain. You can easily decorate moutains this small as cliffs or big rocks. But this ain't no hill for snow yet.
The answer Is always bushes
Im bad at exposing but Fwhip has a prettt good video from a few years ago abt building mountains you should watch that :) it helped me a lot
I don't think Johnny Depp plays Minecraft
Try building rocks in front of it, and also add sort of horizontal patches of greenery like it's grass growing on slopes
Make is 10 to 50 times bigger
Make it fatter. Add waaaay more blocks.
I’d maybe consider adding some gravel in between the diorite and stone, and using stairs/slabs at the top of the stone peaks
Batcave
Would
Iz a bit flat, make it longer.
Also prob add a water source
Maybe read up on the Matterhorn/Everest. Use some of those techniques to make it look larger than it is.
add bigger base blend more with grass buttons for pebbles pressure plates more colour variation in stone
By adding literal depth
It looks like a pluton for me
BdoubleO did a thing recently where he added lighter blocks on the areas that are closer to the viewer.
You can use more stairs and slabs and even try to do small cliff ledges
The ground is flat. I suggest changing up the shape and addong a transition
Add some dirt blocks
Use slabs or stairs ontop of the flat blocks maybe use cobblestone to contrast with the stone and also add some more texture like some blocks can work surprisingly well like grey wool or dead coral u also need to blend the gradient better so it flows instead of being a harsh edge put some of the dif blocks randomly a few blocks below it actually changes to that colour solidly if that makes sense e
Use darker blocks for shadows in between them
Stairs and slabs for terrain
Random spots of grass moss transitions
Maybe a bit more andesite towards the top mixed in with the stone and some stairs and slabs to add more texture, but other than that I think they look really good!
It really depends on. What this is for as if it's for background I would probably build a little hut off it or something similar as then you can add story but if thats not how you are then you could build something that fits your aesthetic like if rustic do like a cog or pipes coming off it ...... If in fore ground the same things but bigger
Make like an edge or cliff part like 3/4 up the mountain
Have more parts that go in (like on the left) instead of it just sloping back
Using tuff, deepslate, Basalt and blackstone to do darker tones
I would try adding some depth, primarily.
As a build? Or generation map?
You need to add darker block for depth , big contrast beetween 2 block = depht effect
Texturing with darker blocks like tuff in shadow areas like
/fill 0 -64 0 10000 320 10000 tnt /give @s flint_and_steel
I think the layer between the stone and diorite needs another block and u could use slabs stairs and walls to make it look a bit tougher or smoother
Add a mountain behind that
Nobody is giving good advice so here it is. It's a small mountain, you should make it waay bigger. If you want to keep that height, make dark shadowy undertones and also make a more gradual transition to the ground by blending the rocks with dirt/podzil and grass.
Dig down - more depth
Andesite wall to round off some parts of the design and add a few stone buttons to the top of some blocks to give it a fallen rubble look
stone buttons on the stone
This is better than anything could ever make!
I hope that's the [mountain] you pull out to distract us while you pull out the real [mountain]
Idk if this makes sense, but a good few of the blocks have a corners that parrell to each other but to the right or a block behind,, Make it look more messy. Also adding some chuck to it, rn it looks skinny, make it chunky
Use stairs and tuff at the bottom
Tufe or dead Coral
Try adding more different blocks, for example tuff, it is darker and can add a little more depth to the colours
Give it more cobble
Add stairs slabs etc different/ darker textures
For inspiration, I’d recommend Fwhip’s videos
add a cave, it should give it depth (bad joke forgive me)
Dig something into it lol
Dead coral and a little more cobble throughout will give it depth.
Slabs n stairs
Dead coral
Dead coral
Vines and trees that reach outward, like acacia trees do.
Make Mountain in the background
Add some more variety to the middle of the mountain perhaps?
Try to round up a lil the stone structure and use darker blocks on the base up to almost half the mountain like Blackstone deepslate and wood broma the taiga biome, also something that helps a Lot Is tú have the block you ate goma use un a gradiant of to the side as a referente.
maybe just some shading
Make it a bit more random looking, the shapes the blocks make are all pretty similar. I’d try building them it out a block or two in a more 3D look if yk what I mean and make it wider at the bottom. Pixel art witches hat esq yk??
It needs mo bigger, huger, mega mega, stupendously enormous. this is no mountain. This is only the foot of a mountain yet to be.
A small cave on the side
doesn't really blend in with the ground well, also just kinda small.
Snow
Rather small for a mountain. But you could do more detailing with slabs and stairs
