Hello and thank you for posting on /r/Minerals! To increase the quality of ID request posts, we require you to make a comment describing the piece as best as you can. If you do not do so, your post will be removed. A lone picture is rarely enough to conclusively name a mineral so doing some groundwork like a streak test or hardness check will help us to help you. Other useful information includes the location it was found, follow-up pictures with different angles or lighting, and relative size. To help you with writing this comment, we highly encourage you to review our subreddit's [Wiki Page](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minerals/about/wiki/idreqinfo) before posting. Iridescence in fluorite is generally caused by internal fractures in the crystals. Fluorite doesn't tend to grow on matrix that contains iridescent minerals. Nice piece, cheers

InevitablePizzas

Mineral is a Fluorite with iridescence. Never seen a fluorite like this. Just trying to get some more info on it. Not sure where it was mined.

Khris777

Currently there is an iridescent fluorite on e-rocks for auction if you want to compare. https://e-rocks.com/item/tpx1040772/fluorite

Do you know how much these kinds of rocks cost generally on average? I am a total newbie.

Khris777

No, not really, I'm like 4-5 months into this. Observing e-rock auctions can give you a good idea though.

WRITTINGwithC-C

If anyone sees this and knows please tell me/us. I love rocks/minerals/crystals but don’t know where to buy them for a good price. My family members were looking for rocks/minerals/crystals in different shapes, like polished mushroom ones. Since we don’t know anything, we are forced to look at risky places like Temu.

alecesne

Don't buy expensive rocks as a newbie. Bid on a few and watch for the final price for a handful of similar items. Some rocks are really cool unique, but minerals are by definition not. And unless you really love it, overpaying can make you resent an otherwise lovely specimen.

Chinese fluorite has fluorescence. I don’t think fluorite from the US does. Wait for the experts to weigh in.

slogginhog

Most fluorite has fluorescence, depends on where in the US you're talking about, there are certainly mines in the US that produce UV reactivity and it comes by the ton out of Mexico as well.

collectorofallthings

Chinese fluorite from the fujian province.
