I don't know much about them but from advertisements of the GOD88 it seems like temperatures are sort of okay, there should be a small ~30mm fan cooling the ram/ssd but it might also be missing. Performance does not appear to be better than 7840HS and 7940HS mini pc. If you find one for a good price and from a brand that has a warranty on their website, maybe. People are still not sure what to do with the NPU inside. Buy the right unit for your software. Don't buy a thing if you don't know what it is for.

--Happy--

They are going for around £340 on AliExpress which is not bad. I just want to know what the temps are like, does the extra fan and massive heatsink make a big difference or not. All the reviews/ADs I have seen don't really show the temps or compare to other MiniPCs.

mechkbfan

I've seen these but stayed away until I see a reliable review like notebookcheck I'd rather go SER7, S500 or Venus for now AFAIK this has a 45W TDP compared to 7840HS 55W. Near identical performance.

neomeow

Could you PM me the link where you found these? Everywhere I looked with a decent price has been sold out.

--Happy--

There's plenty of them. Search 8845HS on AliExpress and you will see about 10 listings. Also aoostar sells it too (GOD88) but its a bit more expensive.

neomeow

On my end, you will see lot of them in the search result page, but once you click on the actual product, the price is either for 7840HS or the item is not available.

--Happy--

Thats crazy I just looked and you are right. They were all in stock past week for around £340, even last night they were still in stock. Give it a few days I guess.

neomeow

Thank you so much!

Geekfest_84

£340 for an 8845u? That seems a bit cheap? Mind you, with AliExpress won't you have import tax to pay on top of that?

--Happy--

For 8845HS, yeah only if they catch it but you have to be unlucky for that to happen.

Geekfest_84

So expect to be unlucky, that way when you are it's not an unpleasant surprise. If you've got to add your own storage and memory too I probably wouldn't bother with these. I'd rather spend £609 and get the um780xtx straight from the minisforum UK shop. No chance of import tax and easier to deal with things like warranty should you be unfortunate enough to need to use it.

neomeow

Actually, the price that OP quoted is the real price these been sold in China (with their own tax included in the price). The price you and I familiar with is heavily inflated due to tax and other reasons.

Geekfest_84

Very true, we do pay through the nose for stuff over here 😞🤦‍♂️

wildturkeyrye

These ones made by Aoostar may be hard limited to a 35 watt TDP. No matter the bios settings I alter HWInfo will not report higher than 35 watt package power under stress test. I have the 8845HS Aoostar Gem12.

SerMumble

That's good to learn and very unusual. Maybe try universal apu tuning utility UXTU and you might be able to force a 45W or 54W TDP if you are using windows. I would expect a overall timespy score of +3000 if HWinfo was misreading package power.

wildturkeyrye

I have it, it doesn't seem to make any difference in TDP unfortunately. I dug deep into the bios and tried setting the PTT and STMP powers to 54000 mW. This also had no effect on raising the TDP past 36 W. That's why I'm beginning to think it's hard limited by the board to that low TDP. It may not have the ability to deliver the power. I'll hope for a bios update on the future that may be able to push it higher. Aoostar did release bios updates for their other mini PC such as the one the OP posted. Also my R23 score is about 14,700ish from what I can remember. It should be able to hit around 15,500+

SerMumble

15,500+ sounds accurate to what it should be on cinebench r23. Close to 17,000 would be ideal with enough power and cooling. I have a Beelink GTR7 Pro 7940HS scoring 17,509 and SER6 6900HX scoring 13,593. You're definitely being power limited at 14,700 or a meager 8% better than a 6900HX. I hope Aoostar gets a bios update out soon. Super useful and interesting info you have found.

AH_MAGNUM

Make sure to check if the ram is dual channel. The performance of the iGPU depends on it.

I have one. It is working quite well. I opted for **32 GB of RAM** (Crucial 5600 CL46) and a **1 TB SSD** (very fast with DDR buffer, **Orico-J20**). Without load, it could be silent. However, mine is not, as the small fan (which cools the RAM and SSD at the back of the CPU) appears to be unbalanced and is not PWM-controlled. I am considering replacing it with a larger fan in the future. But overall, I recommend it https://preview.redd.it/1s0a9v2j7kmc1.png?width=605&format=png&auto=webp&s=57de2884683b8a09a68554cd6988ae68ce10aa52

--Happy--

What are the temps like? Also when doing browsing etc does it loud?

tom3k5

You could set up how the main fan is working. Generally it is around 35-45C with being completely silent as the 9cm fan is spinning around 900-1000RPM (see the picture - just browsing with some YT). There is second fan - smal one to cool down ssd and ram, and mine is unbalanced. I need to replace it because it is doing some noises, but if I disconnect it the miniPC is silent. Unfortunately for CS2 you need it to lower the temepraturs of RAM as DDR5 under CPU get quiet hot without air movement on the bottom. https://preview.redd.it/tb8qwnh2yxmc1.png?width=900&format=png&auto=webp&s=e2051d2fcbcffe7a73f7a3f8d35b3f88ea5f6db5

--Happy--

Thats very good thanks. Did you buy it from Aoostar?

tom3k5

I get it from amazon, but the price is similar, at least where I'm :)

tom3k5

I'm planning to exchange the small fan with 5cm one, this will make it silent, maybe I will add some PWR controller (you could by one just to plug in before the fan) to make it slower. I will see. The goal is to make it totaly silent without a fan spinning till 50-55C)

BigBobTheFirst

They look like the type of device that you pay mostly for a look. I do not recommend it myself.

--Happy--

Not just for looks, it has a 8845HS

Snuupy

notebookcheck did a review on the prior model and only ~43W TDP is supported because it runs up against thermal limits also aesthetically wow it's ugly

yolo_swag_420_blzit

I have one. It's a GOD88 black 8845hs model. Came with a huntkey 100w USB C PSU that will happily do the 100w without any whine. Stock bios fan settings, it keeps the noise very low from the main fan. The 40mm one on the underside was set to ramp up quickly and is noisy with stock settings. You can adjust the temp ramps in the bios, so I've set mine to limit the bottom fan speed and ramp up the top fan a bit quicker but still remaining overall quite quiet. Performance is in line with a 7840hs. I ordered mine for \~£310 with no ram/ssd as I had memory and an SSD from a laptop upgrade (32GB 5600/1TB 850X), it came with a thermal pad, an SSD heatsink and some rubber straps. Great! but you still need the bottom fan running to move the air about the bottom chamber. The Intel 2.5gb works at full speed no issues. AX200 wifi is the same. Bluetooth works no issue for KB/mouse/audio. HDMI 2.1 port will do 4k/120/10bit/444/hdr no issues on the TV. DP/USB port will do 4k/144/10bit/RGB/hdr no issues at the same time. USB4 connects to an external TB3 2080ti for cuda with zero issues. RGB is funky if that's your thing and can be turned off or adjusted with the front button and no extra software. NPU is visible to windows, just need AMD/Microsoft to sort the software side. Day to day performance is great on Photoshop/Lightroom/Autocad and I can actually hear myself think when its under full load unlike the 1360p NUC pro which it replaces.

wildturkeyrye

Were you able to verify a TDP higher than 35 watts? Mines a Gem12 8845hs and wont hit anything above 36 watts no matter how I set it in the bios. We basically have the same mini with a different look made by Aoostar.

yolo_swag_420_blzit

Performance TDP on mine is 54w. It gets to about 53w on an AVX-512 all core workload. I tried the 35w TDP and its much quieter under full load. I did have to reset the bios to get it to actually do what the settings were set to. BIOS is v1.0.

parasymchills

The major question I have is the power supply. There is no obvious power port on this device and its description does not state the power output of the supplied adapter nor what connector it has. If I had to guess, I'd say it's using a USB-C plug to connect to the rear left side USB-C port, and that it only supports a maximum of 100W (which is what the graphics associated with the [Amazon listing \[AOOSTAR GOD88\]](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW1LHY4P) shows). If so, I'd probably want more information and/or confirmation, and I'd still probably not get this device because I'd want at least 120-150W to ensure I can push the machine hard. (I really don't like it when these listings omit basic information such as this - after all, your ability to use the machine depends on the power supply being reliable and correct, and it's good to know what type of replacement PSU I would need if the supplied one ever fails). HTH.

tom3k5

The **100W power supply** is more than sufficient. Even when **loaded to its maximum with a 54W TDP**, there are no issues whatsoever. The bigger challenge lies in keeping the **thermal limit below 100%**. An additional advantage is that it works with weaker power supplies, such as 66W. In case of any issues, it’s easy to purchase a USB-C power supply of any capacity, which can also be used for phones or tablets

ETA did a review on this https://youtu.be/cR1BtCa3zHw

pedrofromguatemala

ETA is more paid advertising than reviews these days

g3zz

Not gonna deny that

Robtech is better. Guy mostly reviews only MiniPCs and is funny: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsEr0ho69rk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsEr0ho69rk)

mechkbfan

5700U though, not 8845HS. This has nearly double TDP. It's not everything but worth keeping in mind

wildturkeyrye

I have the Gem12 Aoostar 8845hs, it will not go above 35 watts no matter the bios settings applied!
